I eat tons a pho dac biets. I didn't believe I'd ever crown a 5 star pho, but I think this place has earned it. I'm not sure how they did it, but their broth has a ton of unami. MSG you say? Maybe. Not quite sure, but whatever it is, the savoriness is sharp and intense. I think the noodles were also treated prior to being submerged in the broth. It has a slight lime / sour taste to it. Old rotten noodles you say? Well, I don't think so, the noodle texture is too firm. It's like a magic trick, I don't mind not knowing. I am hesitant to recommend this place, because I do love how fast this place is. Your food arrives on your table faster than you can get through a McDonalds line. Writing this review means that I'll drive more business to this restaurant, and reduce my ability to move in and out of this place expediently, but, I think, this restaurant deserves it. Was feeling under the weather and Pho usually doe the trick for me when I'm on the road to recovery. So, I didn't want to deal with parking at other spots I tend to go to, and didn't want to drive too far. It's how I ended up here as it's not too far from home. Walked in to an empty restaurant. Had me feeling like I might need to head else where. Entire time I was there, a handful of takeout and one other diner, but it was really quiet. Dodger game (World Series) on that night. And though this place has a TV, the screen was dark. Being one of two people dining in, the service was excellent. Friendly but I wasn't too talkative (see first statement - not feeling well). Attentive as he was keeping tabs on me as I ordered my food in courses. Appetizer. Appetizer. Then Pho. I asked. He obliged. As for the good - I enjoyed it. The spring rolls weren't wrapped very tight but there was still a decent ratio of ingredients (not all lettuce). See pics. The chicken wings weren't dry which isn't my cup of tea. Used the accompanying sauces and I cleaned the bones bare. And the Pho - at first I thought the meat servings were on the stingy side. But they were just all submersed. Broth not too sweet and the only thing I will comment on is that I would have loved more onions. Something I'll ask for next time I'm in. Tried two beers I haven't tried before. 333 and Bia Saigon. Both very light and I'd have them again. Not strong, overpowering the appetizers or Pho. Like I mentioned already, it's not too far from home so I definitely can see me going back. My fiance has been raving about this place so when we were in the area, he recommended I give it a try. We ordered 2 large pho dac biet. The noodles arrived in less than 5 minutes piping hot. I gave the soup a try and WOW. The broth was so full of flavor. It had a clean sweet flavor that I enjoyed very much. The broth was more on the oily side, not what I'm used to in pho broth but maybe that's what made it so good. I recommend adding the bean sprouts only at the end so you don't dilute the broth flavor. Basil is ok. Service was minimal. We got water, our food and the bill. It's located in downtown El Segundo. Plenty of street and public parking. I ordered beef spring rolls and pho. Never will I be ordering from here again. Spring rolls were soggy and as I picked it up it fell apart. Took a bit out of it had to spit it out. The lettuce tasted soggy and warm. The pho tasted old, didnt taste fresh, the tripe had some funky texture that I had to spit out. The banh xeo here was appallingly awful. The batter was the consistency of American cheese. And overloaded with bean sprouts. Not to mention they did not serve with proper herbs. I felt so embarrassed for my friend who raved about this. My father is from Vietnam and he would have lost it seeing this abomination. The service was absolutely garbage. He never spoke one word to me. It felt like he was upset that I was even there. But I have to be honest that the pho itself tasted really good. Also, I wasn't a fan of the ambiance. It was so hot in there, there was no fan or AC, at all, and the traditional vietnamese music they had playing in the background was so loud I couldn't even concentrate on anything it was so distracting. This is a small mom and pop Vietnamese pho restaurant on Main St. in El Segundo. It's a family shop that seems to have 3 generations working here from grandson to grandma. The service is good enough. It's fast and prompt. The pho broth was unique and a little sweeter than I'm used to. I liked it. I got the regular size, and at first it seemed like it would be too small. But there's actually a lot of meat and noodles and was surprisingly filling. This may be one of the only if not the only pho places in El Segundo, and I'd come back if I'm in the area and have a pho craving. read more

Reviews are mixed, but my experience was alright and Id give 3.8/5. The pho broth is on the sweeter side and had a lot of flavor, which I liked. The egg rolls were probably precooked or sitting under a heat lamp since it came out literally a minute after ordering. The noodles in the pho were pre-cooked and one big clump, but I was able to give it a few stirs, and it was good to go. Overall atmosphere is dated. It's old style mom and pop. There was a worker in there playing a game or watching a drama on his phone with the speaker at max volume, so it was so distracting and annoying. Very rude to customers trying to dine. Was craving a spring roll and I have worked in the area for years without trying this spot. Not a lot of people I've talked to have ever tried it. Went on a whim as I had an insane craving. Cashier didn't know the difference between the tradition spring roll and Vietnamese spring roll which are listed right next to each other on the menu under their apps. He told me the only difference was what meat you put in. I asked again what other ingredients were in them other than protein and he kept just saying they were only meat. I was on a lunch break and I knew a spring roll doesn't come with only meat so just ordered. Two orders of the #1 on the apps which was the traditional spring roll. I paid $19+ for a very very disappointing spring roll. They were pretty laughable in size and the quality was if they had been sitting for a long time. Hard on some edges. Also filled mostly with chopped romaine and 4 shrimp. Not sure about the pho but don't order the fresh spring rolls. Not worth it. read more

I came in here expecting nothing impressive and boy it sure is just mediocre. The decor is clean. Nothing real interesting. Looks like a regular restaurant with some decor on the walls. The paper menu plastered to the glass window is misleading by 3-4 dollars. Service was swift. Waitress was okay in the brief interaction I had. Pho is okay at most. Soup tastes like light pho broth mixed with starch from washing rice but sweetened. Tis alright, but not much depth of flavor there. The noodles have a nice bite to it, but lack flavor due to the soup. Meat is fine. As such. It's perfectly okay. Other pho restaurants blow this one out of the water but it's fine for the immediate area. If you come here with just mediocre expectations, your expectations will be met. read more

Their pho is great! I like their portions and the food came quick. In the past, they've had issues with customer service, but coming again after a few years, I've had no problems and the staff was chill. Prices are more expensive than pho in other areas in the South Bay, but it's in line with everything in town. read more

This place is as authentic of a pho restaurant as you can get: it's a little messy inside but it's pho! Messy pho places tend to be the best places. The owner served us and was fascinatingly quirky; told us he knows every business in the area and offered to get us anything from any of the businesses around to make our acquaintance. People might see this man as overbearing and creepy, but I saw him as a gentleman who's been in the business for a long time and just knows how to please his customers. Anyway the pho was actually very very tasty. My wife had some of my rare steak and really enjoyed it despite the fact she doesn't normally like rare steak pho. Iced coffee was good, but Thai tea seemed a little off, I recommend skipping the fun drinks and just ordering yourself a beer. When it came time to pay, the cash/card system was a little weird, so if you're craving pho I recommend you skip the plastic and just bring cash. read more

I woke up one morning with this bizarre craving for Vietnamese crepe or pancake or... I don't know, it was just weird. I remember bookmarking this place awhile back and also remember they have both, so it was a no-brainer to come through for the day's lunch grub. I walked in and the whole place was empty - customers and staff alike. My initial thought was that this was a bad sign. But then again, I sorta came after the normal lunch rush window, so... fine. So, I stood at the counter for a minute... then, two... started hollering some "hello's" and there was simply no sign of life anywhere behind the kitchen. (No bueno!) I resulted to calling their listed phone number (on Yelp) before someone (who looked like a part of the kitchen staff - he was wearing an apron and all) finally came out. He asked if it's "for her or to go?" I told him I preferred to dine in, so he asked me to sit anywhere. I went through their menu before coming through, so I knew exactly what I wanted. He came back with water and told him my food choice. There was a little bit of language barrier so he politely asked me to point it on the menu (with the Vietnamese translation.) No biggie, I did exactly as he asked. Since I was the only customer at the time, it didn't take long for my grub to come out. And before I proceed, I have to mention that both my orders looked sooooo good! MINI SAVORY SHRIMP PANCAKES: Made to order, it came out piping hot, so I had to let it sit for a minute. Once it was cool enough, I wrapped one in lettuce with mint and dipped it in the sauce. This was OMG delicious! Seasoning and flavor was perfect. It wasn't greasy or oily. I really wish they gave enough lettuce and mint (they only gave enough for 4 when there were 6 pieces) and those leaves were kinda small. I know, I could have asked for more, but didn't because I knew I couldn't finish it anyway (with the banh mi and all - see below!) But yes, highly recommending this! COMBINATION FRENCH BAGUETTE: (This comes with ham slices, pork loaf, pate.) I wanted to get the one with head cheese, but it wasn't in the menu. I also wanted it without cilantro and jalapeno, but with the language barrier (I didn't want to complicate things for my server), I decided to settle for this as is. No regrets here, though, because for one, this is probably one of the best baguettes I've had. It had that typical hard on the outside, but not hard enough that it requires that strong bite most baguettes require. It was soft and fluffy on the inside but not too soft to question the whole bread's integrity. It kept the fillings in, no problem. Other than the need to pluck out the cilantro (they gave plenty, so that's a good thing if you're a cilantro fan, unlike yours truly) and jalapeno, and I felt they put too much mayo, it was okay. Overall flavor was delicious. FOOD: 5. There were minor snags but not enough to ding them for it. SERVICE: 4. My server was great despite the teenee challenge we had communicating. VALUE: 4. I feel you get more for what you pay for. PARKING: Street only. Not an issue if you're willing to walk. OVERALL: 4.25 A lady walked right after I packed up my stuff (enough for a 2nd meal, WOOHOO!!!) and went right behind the counter. When my server explained things to her, she was the one who processed my bill and all. I'm assuming she's the designated front person (she prolly came back from an errand, or lunch hour...?) So, yeah... I get it now... my guy was just filling for her. Yes, I would recommend. Yes, I would return - for those pancakes and that banh mi. I might one day even try one of their pho bowls. Few weeks late on this review, but I stopped by for lunch with a big group of friends. I ordered the vegetarian pho and an iced coffee. The pho broth wasn't the most flavorful I've had but as a result the meal was incredibly light. I ate the full bowl (really enjoyed the variety of toppings/ingredients they used) and didn't feel grossly full. The iced coffee was good too. Less sweet than other places usually serve -- which I appreciated. Staff were also really friendly and helpful. Ate here twice and my experience was much better than most of these bad reviews. We had pho the first time and I can't recall details but it was good enough that we came back to eat again. This time had lemongrass chicken banh mi with egg and it was sooo delicious. Def hit the spot. Baguette perfectly crisp and tons of cilantro which I love. First time having a banh mi with egg and enjoyed it. Good crisp cucumber, onions and carrot slices and a yummy sauce. Companion had the beef stew with egg noodle. Our first time trying that dish and loved it. Broth was flavorful, soft veggies and loved them noodles. Also has a mango smoothie and it was very yummy. Again not sure why the bad reviews. The staff is kind. We were saying how tonight was like dinner with a show lol, it wasn't busy and the guy was joking around with us and chatting away. He was very funny and it was good service. He did say how numerous people come in and go straight to use their bathroom or some even sit and play and order and then use the bathroom and leave. So horrible. And then it happened while we were there! A 3 person family came in, sat down, he gave them waters and after a while we noticed they disappeared out the back. So odd! The place is decently comfortable and has some décor. Nice to be in on a cold night. The bathroom isn't the best but I've seen worse and it gets the job done. The last time we were there the lady server wasn't the best. She was really rushing us and I ordered a Vietnamese coffee from the menu and she brought me something else and then informed they don't it. We ordered: Traditional Vietnamese spring roll with pork and shrimp- these were just okay. More on the plain side. Vietnamese meatball pho- broth was sooo good. I'm happy I ordered this and would get it again. Vegetable in a chicken broth no tofu- this was good too but would have been better with beef broth instead of chicken broth. Mediocre food at high prices. They have raised their prices, so you can't trust the ones photographed here. "Fresh" spring rolls are $9 and include two thin pieces of pork and two halves of shrimp. Funny, Pho Dreams.. Their Pho is nothing to write home about; the steak is chinchy and the broth has little flavor. The bean sprouts looked sad and it came with a lemon, not a lime. Meh. Situated on a cute Main Street, you would think this restaurant could be nice. Unfortunately, one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Uhg! TRADITIONAL VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS: Yikes! The rolls are stuffed with shredded lettuce (like from a fast food place), an awful very thin piece of pork (which seemed to be like a piece of processed meat), 2 pieces of shrimp on each end, and rice. The only thing that saved these rolls was the peanut sauce, which I smothered it in! I know businesses are having a hard time surviving, but comes with 2 rolls for $9. I've paid $10 for 4 delicious rolls. THAI ICED TEA: Dont waste your money. Probably the worst Thai iced tea I've had. I had a couple of sips, and just couldn't have any more. Best VEGAN pho I've ever had. The broth is incredibly flavorful. Tried their other Pho broths - the vegan def the best. Plus comes with tons of veggies. Which I love. Typical Pho has little to no veggies (along with ALL those noddles and protein of choice), not an actual complete meal. I order the Vegan Pho to go with an extra side of just the vegan broth. There's so many veggies, tofu, and sprouts in one order - actually need the extra broth for a good soup ratio. Plus I get multiple servings at home. Highly recommend!! read more

There is nothing more comforting for me than having Pho after a (long) transcontinental flight. The reason I would often visit this restaurant is because of its proximity to LAX long term parking(3 miles max) AND the fact that the food here is awesome! In 2019, I think I ate here at least 6 times after a flight and then when I was in the area choosing this restaurant versus other options. Mar 2020 was my last visit until last week when I had the privilege of taking my boss here before his flight home. Mind you, I wasn't sure they would still be in business as a result Covid. It made my day that they were open and that their Pho and spring rolls were as comforting at ever. My boss said as much and in his words " was exactly what I needed" before spending the next 5hrs in a plane. El segundo can be a little out of the way but if you're near by and Vietnamese noodle soup (Pho) will be a comfort, I'd recommend this restaurant. It's small restaurant, with a bar like area for non-groups, service is good and fast.
