I love this place. So friendly and gentle with delicious food as an added bonus!…read more Quieter than their Headingley counterpart. We went for the mother's day buffet (we've been loads of other times too, but this particular occasion was very funny). My sister bought my 9 month old nephew in his thai outfit that he looked rather dashing in.... which ALL of the waitresses thought too, as he got paraded about and taken into the kitchens! needless to say, the little schmoozer loved it! Food was awesome with lots of vegetarian options. not sure if they do the buffet every Sunday, but if they do, I shall be back with reinforcements! Only downside is that they don't have beer on tap!

If there was a comparison between this Sukhothai and the one in Headingley I'd struggle to give…read morereasons for one over the other to be honest. As restaurants, both are beautifully decorated with Thailand themed decorations in golds and black, both have wonderful and lovely staff and both serve utterly delicious food. As I do with all Thai food, I always order the Gang Kiew Wan (I'm not being clever, I just order this dish a *lot*!) which is the Thai Green Curry. Sukhothai's version of this dish is as ever, mouth watering and delicious. I never feel over fed or bloated after dining here and it is always so reasonably priced for the experience. I guess in comparision to my other two favourite Gang Kiew Wans in Leeds, it doesn't quite have the flavour of Tampopos, and the restaurant doesn't quite have the panache of Chaophraya, but for the all in one price-food-quality-service, it is damn close. Definitely eat here if you love Thai food - it won't disappoint.

Right, a really quick one. (And I mean that this time.)…read more As well as all of the below wordlings on how lush this place is, this is the added extra in Thai Sabai goodness: - Check in offer on the Yelp app. (BOOM!) - Now do delivery for a quid fiddy. (EXTRA BOOM!) My Thai Green Curry was as awesome as it's ever been. Masses of rice. And the guys that run the place are just lovely. DO IT HEADINGLEY!

A group of five of us visited this unassuming Thai restaurant on a bit of a whim. We were welcomed…read morealthough we hadn't booked and tables were quickly pushed together to accommodate our group. Within moments were were told we were lucky enough to be on time for the early bird menu, but that we were still welcome to order from the main menu, and our drinks orders were taken. The restaurant itself isn't huge but it's comfortable with the kind of décor you'd expect from your typical tradition Thai restaurant in the UK. Although it was early in the evening and midweek the restaurant was busy and several take away orders were carried away while we were there - always a good sign. Most of us ordered from the early bird menu (I did mostly because the shear list of options on the main menu was a little overwhelming). Probably the best choice of starter was the fried squid - no skinny calamari rings here, it's huge chunks in a rich batter. The other options were similarly impressive with pork parcels and chicken skewers featuring among the other favourites. The mains were good too. I ordered Pad Nam Man Hoi, a chicken dish with mushrooms, peppers and brocolli, all very fresh and delicious. I was slightly jealous of the Plad Shu Shee, though, a steamed fish dish that came with an entire fillet of fresh white fish. I was impressed by the options available for the vegetarians among our group and I wouldn't worry about taking friends here, almost no matter what their dietary requirements were. The early bird menu wasn't at all restrictive for me and for the price I would definitely come back to try more of it.

So it's time to get at one with my ex student self and hit the Headingley. Now that isn't quite…read morefair because Headingley is now so much more than that. It's quite an area for many things and I'm feeling the need for some Thai thanking you muchly. Sala is easy to get to if you know you are looking for it on Shaw Lane, just off the Otley Road and it's all about the food for me. This is a good job considering it is a restaurant. It's a good menu with plenty on offer. The hot and sour soup has the desired kick and the satay vegetables have a lovely sauce which is rich and goes down a treat. As for the mains, you can curry it up or stick to a stir fry. I had a pleasant vegetable stir fry though I have had better but I've also had worse. Good service and a fine night was had by all. Now three hoorahs and onwards and upwards.

It has an ornately decorated dining area yet, due to the nature of the building, doesn't feel over-crowded with tables or décor. Friendly staff greet you but I was rather pushily advised to get rice for a dish that didn't need it. I also felt that the food I ordered wasn't as described. I have to rate this restaurant though as the other girls I went with one of whom is a chef, the other very particular, were both impressed with their meals. Overall a wonderful dining experience from the moment you pull into the driveway.
