Food = Nom and tea set = cuteness

It has to have the full 5 stars. It is consistently good. I have tried a fair few things on this vast menu and they are all cooked beautifully and presented amazingly. Even better presentation then I have had at other branches. There are so many lovely finishing touches that these guys provide which just makes it a lovely and delicious evening out. Including but not limited to; cleaning the tables after each course, always ensuring drinks are full and you are not parched, recommending food or complimentary dishes but only when asked so not forceful, a great birthday treat - I had it last time and this time they did it for my friend, nice waiting area, lovely decor and or course good drinks. What tips this into a definite 5 star is how inexpensive it is for such a great place.

Pad Gratium Prik Tai.

Died and gone to Thai food Heaven. We walked in through the huge front door and I mean huge! We were seated in the reception area while our table was made ready. I have never tried Thai food before and I was a bit apprehensive as I have only heard of mainly hot spicy food being served. Everyone else was discussing what dishes they like and I felt a bit out of my depth. The staff were great as they didn't fuss around us or try to rush us. After some deliberation I ordered Chicken Pad Gratium Prik Tai. Which was chicken marinated in spices, peanut sauce and something else which now escapes me. I also ordered a Chan beer as I had never tried that before. People were ordering a varied array of dishes and I couldn't wait to see what everyone's looked like. They gave us all chilled water and then the drinks order was served. Chan beer is like a lighter Tiger Beer. It was very nice. Then my food arrived. It looked amazing. I also ordered boiled rice with my meal. It may have looked amazing but it tasted outstanding. The flavours were rich without being too spicy. The texture of the chicken was spot on. I have had some Chinese meals where the chicken was very watery but this was super fresh. The peanut sauce stop on too and all in al, the meal was way better than I expected. After the food was finished and we all got round to talking I never once felt that they were hovering sho us out of the restaurant. Then seeing as it was Natalie O's birthday they came out with a little birthday treat for her. We all sang happy birthday. The staff were really lovely. Even offering to take photos for us. I am definitely coming here again. 10 out of 10.

Sometimes an impromptu evening can make for the best kind. It was the monthly Yelp supper club, and our original plans had fallen through. In such an emergency, the troops were assembled to Friends of Ham to discuss where we might eat instead. Everyone gathered, drinks were had, and a plan was formed to go adventuring for tapas near Greek street. Sukhothai was plan B, and since plan A had not come to pass, plan B it was. I now have a feeling that plan B will always make for the best plan. As soon as you wander in, the word opulent comes to mind. Where Tampopo once stood looking tired, a glorious, glittery, and lavish restaurant now stands in its stead. The carved wooden statuette in a glass box, opposite the bar, is absolutely beautiful. And the service is second to none - the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated wonderfully. We were seated within a few minutes, despite nine of us dropping in to dine, and drink orders were readily taken. We then spent a good few minutes deliberating the large menu, before choosing. Usually I go for the Thai green curry. Being as that's a staple, I decided to go for the Weeping Tiger steak - I've had it once before elsewhere, and hoped that it would be as fantastic as the first time. Despite oddities, such as the lights above our table periodically brightening in a slow motion disco, the ambiance was wonderful. (And we were offered another place to sit, although chose to remain - it was quite amusing.) Before long our food arrived, in just enough time for a natter, but not so long we would be famished. And my steak came on a sizzling hot plate, full of delicious veg, accompanied by a mini pad Thai. And it was incredible. My only regret is that I asked for it medium rare - I should have gone rare - but even that didn't stop it from being utterly tasty. The meat was clearly excellent quality, and I don't even know how to describe the taste and aroma of the spices and sauce that accompanied it. Pak choi is now a firm favourite in the vegetable world, too. Every mouthful was succulent, and barely a mouthful remained on my plate. It was fantastic! I couldn't recommend this place more. It's perfect for a large gathering, and intimate and beautiful enough for a date. The open kitchen is another lovely touch, and the staff really couldn't have done more for us. The company was excellent, as a few of us Yelpers welcome some new folk along, and the whole evening was a delight. They even brought out a birthday cake, as a late birthday surprise for Natalie O! (But sadly we didn't get the chanting parade, which we saw when we came in. Next time!) I'm definitely a fan!

sticky rice & green curry (2014)

After our meat feast at MEAT Liquor on our Saturday evening in Leeds, we were looking for something a little bit different for the Sunday - slightly more upmarket, with a sense of special occasion. After consulting many Yelp listings, we happened upon Sukhothai. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, which unfortunately was next to one or two large parties, though they weren't too loud, so we could still talk. It being a Sunday, they did have a buffet option available (which seemed to be a weekly thing) but instead we ordered from the a la carte. We shared the satay platter to start - beef, chicken and pork - which was served with the delicious peanut sauce, but also a small fresh salad and spicy soy sauce. It was great to have a choice as each sauce worked differently with each meat, and I think the presentation was well done; not thrown on to the plate, but also not overwrought with 'restaurant' touches. My main green curry really packed a spice kick, meaning I had to slow down a touch compared to my usual eating pace, but this simply allowed me to enjoy it all the more. It was packed with chicken and chunky vegetables, meaning it was really filling and, although a large portion, still felt at least borderline healthy. The massaman curry was milder, though still with plenty of heat, and again we were pleased with the meat to vegetable ratio. The sticky rice was perfect for mopping up the large amounts of sauce we both had left at the end. Service was good throughout, and we were checked up on at all the regular intervals, though we did have to catch an eye to order additional drinks. Sukhothai will definitely be on my list for my next trip to Leeds as it seems to be able to cater for every occasion.

The "Tong Kam special mixed starter" - pretty darn good!

This place is one of my fav's! The food here is bordering on perfection, I've visited this beaut a ton of times. As soon as you enter the service is excellent, everyone is always ultra-welcoming and downright efficient! The menu is vast, there are some great options. Anything with duck = bliss! But anything you order won't be a disappointment. Every time I go we're amazed at the speed they get food out - no idea how they do it, but its quick! If you fancy sublime thai food, that's good value, then check out this tasty destination!

Panang Curry

I ordered the Chicken Panang Curry with sticky rice. I love me some sticky rice and it was good. The chicken was prepared well but the curry had 4 pieces of vegetable and oddly not much flavor. The food itself would have given it a 4. Folks you have to remember a 4 is good a 5 should be reserved for amazing. Don't be so easy with the 5s. The drop to 3 was the waitress. I think she was just in a bad mood. From the second sat down she was rushing me out the door. I had a half a plate of food in front of me an went to grab it asking if I was done. Give the place a shot. You might like it. It seems others did. Oh and Eat Fast my fearless diners.

Quite a nice Thai restaurant in the heart of Leeds, especially if you like a bit of flash. The staff all wear a traditional Thai uniform with a sash and the restaurant is decked out with large wooden sculptures and gold elements which do go a long way to making the dining experience feel a little exotic. They were very accommodating when we walked in at 6pm on a Saturday. You can tell this place is busy but they were more than happy to seat us before the restaurant got busier after about 7pm. I was told by a local that their hot dishes really are hot so I opted for a mild curry dish, Duck Gang Panaeng which had 1 chilli on a 3 chilli scale and tell you what I think there are some who would have problems even with this level of spice. I tend to eat the chillies in my food and I found this one still reasonably spicy. It was really tasty and is a milder approximation of a Thai Red Curry. I think if you avoided the large slices of red chilli then you would find the dish far milder. The duck was really nice though I would've possibly liked a bit of a bigger portion as all the dishes we ordered were served in those small metallic bowls served over a tea candle to keep them warm, which is a very nice and thoughtful addition but also a pleasant way to display your meal. There was a slight mix up on paying the bill where a friend was misheard when paying by card and they had to go and get some cash to give him money back. But that could happen anywhere.

The restaurant itself isn't huge but it's comfortable with the kind of décor you'd expect from your typical tradition Thai restaurant in the UK. Although it was early in the evening and midweek the restaurant was busy and several take away orders were carried away while we were there - always a good sign. Most of us ordered from the early bird menu (I did mostly because the shear list of options on the main menu was a little overwhelming). Probably the best choice of starter was the fried squid - no skinny calamari rings here, it's huge chunks in a rich batter. The other options were similarly impressive with pork parcels and chicken skewers featuring among the other favourites. The mains were good too. I ordered Pad Nam Man Hoi, a chicken dish with mushrooms, peppers and brocolli, all very fresh and delicious. I was slightly jealous of the Plad Shu Shee, though, a steamed fish dish that came with an entire fillet of fresh white fish. I was impressed by the options available for the vegetarians among our group and I wouldn't worry about taking friends here, almost no matter what their dietary requirements were. The early bird menu wasn't at all restrictive for me and for the price I would definitely come back to try more of it.

I know - next to Otley road? Even so, we're so starved of outdoor spots that I'll take any I can get. It's BYOB, so you can enjoy a beer with your food, and the staff have always been pleasant. The décor is a little old these days, and the seating a little greasy spoon, but for a cheap, delicious, swift bite in Headers, you can't beat it. Am I right? I'm sure of it!

There are absolutely no frills in Jino's and it almost feels like a kitchen in a student house rather than an eatery - but somehow this works. They offer food that is representative of the authentic little cafes that you actually find in Thailand, at scandalously low prices. Eating at lunchtime, I had the spicy spring rolls to nosh while I waited for my Thai Green Curry to be presented - both dishes were excellent and inexpensive in equal measure. I realised I could have actually got them (and a drink) at an even cheaper price if I'd notice the £6.50 lunchtime special. Oh well, you live and you learn. A final note on the coolness of this place - they almost encourage you to bring your own beer, and do not charge corkage. In my experience, Thai food and beer is simply a match made in heaven, so go ahead and BYOB.

My Dad, being the fab bloke that he is, drove me home from my Christmas jaunt in the homelands of Gloucestershire, and as such deserved a decent feed. I'd already decided to treat him, but the question was - where to go? Since we didn't wish to trek into town, we opted to head over to Sukhothai after a few at Arcadia. And it's safe to say this was an excellent choice. You get the royal treatment in all of their venues, with beautifully dressed and attentive staff, ready to welcome you in. We were seated and treated to the Christmas menu, which was too tempting not to try. We went for the 'Snowflake' (I think, that or the Santa) which meant sharing three starters, three mains, and a dessert each for £50. Not bad at all. The starters were delicious, with the prawns being beautifully arranged like little birds, and the chicken satay was to die for. I'm not sure what the creamy sauce is that was slathered on them, but it was beautiful! To follow came one of the most delicious coconut and steak curries I've had the pleasure of eating - the steak melted in your mouth, and the flavour of the dish was exquisite. The duck dish was just as lovely, but much spicier, and the chicken (deep fried and breadcrumbed) was equally well made. Basically, all of it was incredible. The range showed a good number of flavours, and it all came in good time - in fact, they checked to see how soon we'd like them to come. I'd no room for the dessert, but they even popped it in a box for us to take home. The staff were all wonderful, and the whole experience was a real treat. We shall be back for certain!

I had the chicken noodle soup (£4) followed by a red curry (£8) and both were insanely flavourful, and the fact that you can wash it all down with genuine Thai beers such as Chang just ices the already impressive cake.

I've often walked past and meant to try them out, since it looks authentic by all accounts, so it was time to take the plunge. And when I say it looks authentic, I mean it doesn't look like it caters semi-capably at all ranges of cuisine - it's a pure Thai spot. I was delighted when I saw on the menu that you could pick up Thai Iced Coffee too - it's a favourite of mine, and I'd highly recommend it if you a) like coffee and b) have a sweet tooth. Sadly, about half an hour before the food was to come, they phoned to let me know there was none available, so I settled for my money back. I'll have to try again another time! I ordered a Thai Green Curry (my usual) and keenly anticipated its arrival. They were about 15 minutes late with the food, maybe more, which was a little odd since I'm pretty sure I ordered just after they opened - perhaps they're popular? Not the best sign, but I can forgive it on the first time ordering. The food that came was grand. Not super special, I have to admit (certainly compared to a few others in Leeds), but down right decent. It's better than any other delivery Thai food I've had in Leeds, mind. It tasted like actual green curry, which many other spots did not! (I recall a really weird gloopy experience at another place that resembled tasteless jelly more than it did edible food.) The chicken was plentiful, the sauce was great, and it was a large enough portion for me to be unable to finish. As an added bonus (and because you've to order over a tenner to get delivery) I got some chips. Yup, a bit weird with Thai, but let me tell you - totally worth it. They were really good chips! So, would I order again? Yes. I'll try the Pad Thai next, and let you know what I reckon.

The Tom Yam was very flavoursome, and great for the sinus, as I felt I could actually breathe afterwards -but! It comes extremely hot, as in temperature, so be careful of that. As for spice, even being a bit wary of spiciness, it could have been a little hotter - as could the Thai Red.
