I can't think of a bad thing to say about this place, although I am a little alarmed that there always seems to be a banana or 2 on a shelf outside of the kitchen - watch out for it next time you're in there! Also love the fact that when I check in there on the Yelp app that it gets me a free bottle of lager! I'm a bit of a stickler for always getting the same dish here, chicken satay skewer starter followed by chicken green curry because I totally love it, but the other people that I've been here with have always raved about the dishes they've had too. I've been on my curry mission again - checking out the Thai curries of Leeds and accumulating a list of the best Thai restaurants in Leeds! Thai Edge is certainly a contender. As you go in you are greeted with a most decadent display of Thai decor, including a beautiful water feature, stone buddhas and some traditional calligraphy brushes encased behind glass. The whole vibe is spacious, clean and gives off a nice balance between neutral white paint and Thai style decor. The pink and blue uplights are a little pop but whatever. My boyfriend and I were starving so we decided to go for a starter as well as a main, despite having just missed the early bird menu - which is 5 - 7pm. We ordered the deep fried chicken pieces with sweet chilli dip and the minced chicken spring rolls. Unfortunately we were given prawn toast instead of the spring rolls but, too hungry to mention it, we ate them up instead. Delicious. Totally greasy and quite messy (I'd already dropped sweet chilli dip on myself..) but utterly gorgeous. If you order the deep fried chicken bits a warning - we tried to eat the outer leaf part but I'm not so sure you are actually supposed to! On to the mains. In a random twist of fate we swapped meals - I had the red curry and my boyfriend had the green! The fact that they'd advertised the green curry as the spiciest scared me off! Even so, the red curry was enough to make my nose run a little. The food was lovely, my curry was sweet, spicy and flavoursome. We had a portion of coconut rice for two, which was a little bit of a mean portion, but was delicious nonetheless. Everything was lovely food wise but there was something just not quite as delicious about it as with some of the other Thai restaurants I've been to. For service, this restaurant is fabulous. The staff are utterly attentive, polite and sweet. The dining experience feels high end, and the prices reflect this and the city centre location, although they aren't ridiculously high - we had a starter, mains and drinks (albeit non-alcoholic) for just over £50. The whole evening was lovely although the traditional music did become very slightly repetitive. Although the curry wasn't quite up to some of the other contenders' curries this place is still in a class of its own. Wonderful! read more

mmm mmm mm. Went for a light quick dinner tonight and imagine I will be back. I have been a religious Sukhathai (in chaple allerton) fan for years but no longer living there made it less fun to travel to. Thai Edge is a good replacement for ease of access. It is lovely and open with lots of natural light and big open windows. As usual for Thai it has lots of decoration but not as cramp as some do it. The food is not too pricey but not cheap either. Good variety of options and really clear about spice which is handy. The food we had was very fresh and light with a decent size portion. My seafood was cooked really well and would get it again. Nice touch at the end of the meal they take away the top table cloth leaving you with a lovely clean table to relax at or have dessert - nice :) read more

A fine dining, i consider this a formal place cause it's quite fancy like Chaopraya and Sukhothai. Have to say the food was nice. They are one of the places that offer thai deserts since it's so hard to get them here dont' know why. For those who like Thai curry, you should try out banana coconut milk desert (sorry i can't remember how they call in the deserts menu) but this is one of the main thai deserts and you might like it since its the same coconut milk used in curry. The mango and sticky rice is definately a must if you guys love thai food because this is absolutely one of the most famous deserts back home! but again, beware cause last time i ordered and the mango wasnt that nice, the actual taste should be sweet and when paired with the soft sticky rice topped with coconut milk on.....you couldn't ask for more. besides thai food try tasting thai deserts also ! we get a lot of ice-creams here as its always present in every desert menus absolutely everywhere so discover new desert menus to try out ! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting here today with a friend and we enjoyed a lovely Lunch) I had forgotten how great this place is and this visit was even better than my previous experiences. Thai Edge, is classy and spacious and the Staff are immaculately turned out. The Lunch menu is very reasonable and unlike some places that kinda downsize on quality and portion sizes to cobble a lunch time special together, this place does not cut any corners. As thai green chicken curry is my favourite, I went for it again. The sauce was delicious and there was plenty enough chicken. Really generous portions, (always pleases a greedy mare like me) and lovely flavours to boot. Really can't fault today's Lunch and certainly will be back! I went to Thai Edge with my friend and fellow yelper Rob Wilson! I'm usually a little suspect of Thai restaurants because I've been to plenty of disappointing ones but Thai Edge was a delight! The food was excellent. I got the red curry and Rob got the green curry and we both loved it! You also got plenty for your buck. The service was really polite and although it was quiet as we went around 10pm they were always on hand. The free beer and 2for1 on mains for checking in on Yelp also added to how much I enjoyed my experience here! If you fancy Thai food it is probably the best place to go in Leeds...much better than Sukhothai! read more

I visited here the other week with my mother, sister and brother-in-law-to-be-maybe. After walking the streets for hours and hours of "shopping" that turned into a bar crawl with my mum as she was visiting for the weekend I decided to check this place out as I heard amazing reviews. Both from fellow Yelpers and good old word of mouth. We called by at 15:00 and amazingly was able to book a table for 18:30. Amazing service, the place was packed!! I visited on a Saturday and even though nearly every table was full our food was great, hot, amazing quality we had the service you expect without feeling rushed or bothered. Sadly the yelp offer of a free bottle wasn't valid on a weekend, really wish they would put that on the app so I didn't feel such a student asking for my alcohol Would certainly visit again but I'm also one for trying new places when I do get the chance to eat out. Roll on graduation is all I can say! read more

This restaurant seems to either be packed out, or totally empty. The positioning on the corner makes parking a bit of a nightmare, and getting in with a wheelchair can be a nightmare. We knocked over the Christmas tree one year. The food is a very high standard, but the service is overly formal, and it's really expensive. Best for a very fancy night out. read more

I have seen the bananas too i was wondering if it was a buddist offerring? food at Thai edge is delicious, the service is friendly and staff were more than happy to ensure my oorder met my needs. the restaurants layout and design is truly stunning, the outside decor doesnt do the venue justice. I recently attended Thai Edge as part of a large group and unfortunately I will not be going again. I advised the staff member who took my order about an allergy and was told that the food I had ordered was fine for me to eat. After I'd eaten all my starter, a friend I was sharing with identified the thing I'd informed the staff member about in the food I'd just eaten. Thankfully it is actually more of an intolerance than inducing life-threatening anaphylaxis situation, however I always tell restaurants it is an allergy due to many not taking intolerances very seriously. Upon complaining to the manager I was immediately offered an epi-pen (not sure if that is a good or a bad sign?!) and the manager apologised before offering me various types of tea such as lemon and ginger free of charge, which she said would help. However by this point I was basically completely freaking out and had to leave the meal over an hour earlier than planned. I was charged the full amount for my starter and main, which I paid because I wanted to get out of there ASAP. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received, thankfully for me and for them my situation was not extremely serious or life threatening, however I was unwell for 2 days following the meal and unable to attend work. I have written an email complaint to Thai Edge on the matter and will update my review according to their reply - but I would steer clear of this place and I would definitely not recommend it if you have any allergies, particularly if they are serious such as seafood or nut allergy. When it comes to customers expressing concerns about allergies, staff should always double check with chefs or management if they are unsure and I don't believe there is any excuse for not doing this. read more

I am partial to a bit of Thai cuisine, so when I was looking for somewhere special to take my parents, my friends recommended this place. It has been around as long as I have been in this fine city, but I had never ventured. On forst inspection, the decor is a bit too minimilist for my personal taste, but nevertheless, added to the experience of Thai cuisine above the standards of your average takeaway! The meal in total came to around £20 a head, which was more than I would have been willing to pay had I been with anyone other than my parents. Neverthless, the food was wonderfull and was exactly what the doctor ordered at the time! On my visit, I had the choo chee tofu - bean curd cooked with coconut and lime - which tasted fresh and zesty, although it lacked the kick I'd expected from a curry rated 'medium hot'... the food has obviously been tamed down for English tastebuds. In spite of this, Thai Edge is a great venue for a meal out, and what it might lack in authenticity it certainly makes up for in style in panache - ideal for those making their first venture into the realms of Thai food. read more

Stylish and always good food, but quite variable. I think the food is better at Thai KhonKaen and Mai Thai, which are also much better value for money, although the decor is not so flashy! It is popular and tends to get quite full. read more

Me and my boyfriend went here for our 1 year anniversary yesterday and I really enjoyed the whole experience. From the moment we walked in the staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely friendly (which I find is lacking in the restaurant world a lot these days), the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the seats they placed us at werent isolated from the rest of the customer there but were far enough removed that we felt like it was private. I found the service quite unusual at first as we seem to have multiple different waiters and waitresses come and take our orders for wine, starters and mains but I came to quite enjoy it as we didn't have to wait at all in section of the meal. But after each course arrived we were left in peace until we had finished that part of the meal. We bought one of the cheaper bottles of red wine, the merlot I think, but it was absolutely gorgeous! Probably one of the nicest wines I've had in a while. We got the vegetarian starter for two, and it was divine! I'd go back just to eat that again. The main I got was extremely spicy as I didn't pay attention to the chilli rating on the menu, much to my boyfriends amusement! But after Id had a few mouthfuls I got used to the spices and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall I had a brilliant experience at Thai edge the only thing I'd say to improve the experience would be access to some sort of voucher/offer, we looked through some of our favourite sites like www.guestlistleeds.co.uk to find one but no luck. Hard to come by a good thai place but this one is good. More expensive than your usual curry house but worth paying extra as great service, pretty interior, good location, centre of leeds. If you fancy something different try it here, mild dishes for those who don't like the spicy dishes. Thai crackers as you are choosing what you want...yum! read more
