Really loved this place! Came for lunch on my birthday - I am 9 months pregnant so no wine for me, BUT the food was outstanding! Staff was nice too (just one woman was working on Monday afternoon), wasn't busy at all. I tried the Cantina pizza (amazing!!) which was $6 instead of $8 for the Monday special. Soooo good. The meatball dish was quite large and again, amazing. Loved the cheese inside of the meatballs, too! We also tried the chorizo tacos (you get 3, not pictured bc we devoured them). I cannot wait to come back here for a girls lunch / date. Place was clean as well and I have zero complaints - already planning my next visit! I came here for the first time last week and was really impressed. I had the arancini, calamari, and cheese board with my friend. All 3 were really good honestly. I had the pear martini which was also really good! I don't really have anything negative to say about this place other than it is very small so u have to wait a really long time to be seated and I didn't like that the bar was not first come first serve like every other place I've ever been to. Date night is not diet night! Absolutely thrilled that we found this restaurant through Yelp after a concert. We started with a charcuterie board that had tons of choices and great flavor. Great small plates for a late afternoon meeting. Wanted one of the beers on tap but they were out. I had been to Cantines with a friend and I had the most delicious sweet and spicey pork shanks. I wanted to have my husband try them. So we went last night. Well, the paper menu was not the same as online and the waiter said they didn't have the pork on the menu any more. So we ordered other food. The calamari was light and crispy over a bed of Fava beans and a sweet spicey dipping sauce. We ordered the wings, which we knew were cauliflower and they were good but the dipping sauce was bland. The diced carot little medley was very spicey. The Focaccia was delicious. The Beet salad with arugula and Marconi almonds was very good. The beets were yellow and sweet and abundant. I added shrimp and there were three shrimp. My husband ordered the ricotta meatballs which do not come with pasta but for $6 you can have pasta added. He passed since we had a lot of other food. The walls are covered with wines you can purchase . I asked the waiter how that worked. He said pick a bottle and I'll bring two glasses. When we received the bill there was a $15 corking fee. I thought cooking fees were for if people brought there own bottle and not if you bought one from them. My bad. I had not seen on one chalkboard the corking fees. Even if you buy a beer there is a $3 cooking fee. We asked about dessert and they offer 6 kinds of cheese cake. We passed. The ombiance is nice the prices are average. This place is really nice looking. They have a wall of wine that you can choose from. I went on a Tuesday night. That mean $3 tacos and $6 margaritas. They only have the original flavor. I got the chicken taco with a slaw on top, fabulous, and the pork taco, which was also really good. It can get a bit loud when it's busy and the bar seats were always full. There are tables. Pricing on other items are a little high. Check out the menu online. Service was great, then I think it was towards the end of the girls shift and I didn't see her again. Cantine is easily the best restaurant in the Southern burbs of CLE. The menu consists of lots of small plates, and it changes often and so many of the items I've ordered are obsession worthy. The pomme frites are The. Best. The focaccia is pillowy soft. I love the feta and olive spread (served with pitas). And that's just from the appetizer section of the menu. The portion sizes are always right on, in my opinion. The staff has always been warm and it's a really comfortable place to hang out and enjoy a meal. The beer, wine and cocktail choices are always on the money too. In addition to what they have on the menu, you can purchase a bottle of your fave beer or wine in the restaurant to drink there (with a corking fee, I believe). I know they have a burger night and brunch on weekends, although I've never been. There are two downsides to Cantine: (1) It's loud when it's full. I wear hearing aids and it's a lot, honestly. Just depends on how many people are in the restaurant. (2) It is somewhat small and you have to use strategery (timing, day of week visiting) so you can get a table or a seat at the bar. Or, I don't know, just call and see if they are busy. On a weeknight, we were pretty much always able to get seats. If you have a group, you'll want to plan ahead. Go to Cantine, you. Go. :) ps. This place has the best double cheeseburger I have ever had! Way better than Whitey's, Swensons, Five Guys or K.S. Lodge. The fries were also the best I ever had. This is a cute little place. I didnt even know existed. It is hidden away in a plaza but once you get in side it has a hipand trendy vibe. There are regular tables a bar and tall tables to choose from. Different days of the week they have different specials. I went on a Tuesday and it was taco Tuesday. So I tried a 2 dollar chorizo taco normally they sellfor 10 dollars. I'd say not worth it at 10 or at 2 really. But thankfully was very hungry and tried other things too. Tried the Brie which was good and the pairings that came with it were also good. Then I tried the Asian beef bowl with kimchi noodles yum yum sauce and an egg. It was very very good. My friend had the chicken and liked it also. I would like to try some other things on the menu but that beef bowl hit the spot. I had their chocolate covered pretzel martini not really a fan and their moscato option was okay. So my friends and I were looking for somewhere to have a nice double date and I stumbled upon this gem! Walking in to Cantine, I was expecting a quaint little restaurant but I swear, if you don't look outside you would think you were in Ohio City or Tremont. This trendy little wine and light bite place was awesome. From the chunky wood furniture to the modern light fixtures and decor, this was perfect for us! Also, I loved the bathroom and plan on stealing some ideas for my own...shhhh don't tell. We started with a long and eclectic drink list. I had the Riesling and my boyfriend had the Game of Thrones beer. I know right? Then we were looking to order some delicious food, but our waiter was nowhere to be found. We had to go up to the bar and ask for him to come over. That was my only complaint. It would have brought the rating down (since it happened again with bills) if the food wasn't so GD amazing! I had the clam and spaghetti. I realize a lot of people don't like clams but the dish was so well put together. The sauce was light and flavorful, just all around delicious. Trevor had the grilled cheese and love it as well. Especially the fries, which he told me were "sooo good" with a handful in his mouth. I don't know why but every time I come back to this place, it's always good. The food, service is nothing to complain about. The people that work there are nice and is a great spot to go with a group of friends to hang out and enjoy some really good food. the couple times that I have gone i had ordered their clam and spaghetti plate and it tasted just as good as the first time I had it. it's been consistent during dinner and happy hour times. Their happy hour is from 3-6pm on Monday to Friday's and all day on Sunday's. $2 off wines, $1 off drafts and $2 off small plates. I went here on a Tuesday and they had taco specials for $2. $5 margaritas and something else, that place was packed with people - that says something for a place in the suburbs. Just note that this place is considered a tapas place so don't expect to get large portions on their entrees. although I think it's plentiful already but you can think of a chance to try a variety of their food. read more

A disclaimer here, this is a small plate restaurant, and generally I am not a fan of small plate restaurants. If you are into that type of restaurant, the food here is very good; however, I can just not justify a higher rating given the prices. If you prefer being full from your order, and have a normal to slightly larger appetite like me, probably not your place. They seem to have a fairly large wine list, and being a bottle shop have many additional options available. They have a fair draft beer selection which seems to have enough options for anyone to find a craft beer they will like. What appeared to be a full bar was also available. We were here for my fiance's birthday, and my fiance's parents wanted to start off with some appetizers, the Cantine Pizza and Baked Brie. The Cantine Pizza is not an actual pizza, but crust with lots of veggies on top. The Baked Brie was good, just not something I usually go for. My real issue here came with the small plates. My fiance ordered the short ribs, which thankfully was a large enough portion which I could finish after my meal was good, but nothing outstanding. I ordered the Seared Sea Scallops, and was presented a plate with three (3) scallops. When the waitress was bringing out the other meals I was waiting for the rest of my meal to come out. What was even more appalling to me, was that the price for these scallops, albeit fair sized, was $14. $14 is not unreasonable for a scallops meal, but for three scallops with no sides, unacceptable in my opinion. We finished with some Oreo Cheesecake as dessert for her birthday, and we were both pleased. Definitely a very rich cheesecake. For me this rating is all based off what type of food you're in to. If you like small plates, this is probably a good place to visit. If you are looking for a good price to quality ratio and leaving with a full stomach, there are many better options available. read more

The saying goes, "When pigs fly." When talking about the impossible. But obviously those ppl have never been to Cantine because they would know that in fact pigs MUST fly....I mean- where else would they get those delicious Pork Wings from??? If you get nothing else - you have to order those. They were crispy on the outside, tender and moist on the inside, sweet, salty, and spicy all rolled into one. Impossibly good. My second favorite dish was the chèvre stuffed peppadews. Creamy saltiness paired with sweet peppers, the arugula and balsamic reduction made me want to savor every bite. They should make it into a salad. Next time I'm not sharing it with anyone. Get your own! I love calamari but it's rarely very impressive from a uniqueness standpoint. Cantine definitely puts their own unique spin on things! The hot sauce and Gorgonzola cheese were tasty, but I missed the sweetness of a marinara sauce. Overall it was very good, but not something I would be compelled to order again (simply because there are SO many other things I want to try!) The last dish we ate was the pomme frites with sriracha and truffles. This one would have been one of my favorites except I had some issue with the over starchiness of the fries. It didn't have that light and fluffy and crispy quality I would have liked to have seen. I bet they could hit this one out of the park if they made it with sweet potato frites instead. Sticking to that sweet savory mashup that they seem to do so well with. Another thing that is cool about this joint is that you can buy a bottle of wine at regular store prices and drink it with you meal. It's like BYOB but better! They seem to have a huge selection. You would never expect to have such gourmet small plates at reasonable prices in a strip mall near a gas station. But then again- anything's possible when pigs fly!! I'll definitely make sure this quaint neighborhood joint is on my to do list whenever I visit CLE from DC! read more
