I haven't been back to Cantine since the just-okat experience I had last time. But my friend choose their Sunday brunch as her birthday celebration and I will say the brunch food was good! This is a super cute venue that is small and cozy. Our server was fantastic. We had a table of 10 and she handled us a group, with another table of 8 nearby with ease. Our fav neighborhood bar because of the amazing staff and management. Will never say a bad thing about how well they take care of us and make us feel right at home. Fish fry and Italian sausage sandwich were ok but portion wise things were definitely smaller / lacking than what we were used to. The entire sausage sandwich had one small sausage link split in half across a massive ciabatta bun so it was all bread and no meat. Fish was just a tiny piece with lots of batter and "fry" but the tartar sauce was to die for. Luckily we got French fries on the side (which are always amazing) and I got to dip those in the remaining tartar sauce because I'm not kidding you I could drink it (LOL). Came here on a Tuesday around 9:30PM. Similar to a previous review I saw, I felt a little unwelcome as it was our first time and clearly not a 'regular'. Unsure if we were to wait and be seated, or someone would greet us. After a few minutes, we decided to just sit down at one of the long pub tables. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come by with menus. We were given both food and drink menus, so we assumed the kitchen was still open. The server didn't come back for about 15 minutes, even though we had decided just a couple minutes after getting menus and tried to make eye contact. We ordered a couple drinks, and the steak tacos. The server then asked me to look at my phone and tell her what time it was. I felt a little uncomfortable as it was clearly a way to tell us we were ordering food too close to the kitchen closing. If the kitchen was open until 10PM and we were given food menus to begin with, why would we be met with such passive aggressiveness? She even said "I'll have to check if the cook is still willing to make food". She came back to let us know it was "fine". When we got the steak tacos, it was literally just steak and shredded cheese, despite the menu stating it had a couple other accompaniments. When I asked the server, she seemed a bit annoyed, so I said it was fine. She said "No no, I'll go see". She was clearly not knowledgeable as to what came on the tacos. She came back to say "it IS supposed to come with queso, but they ran out". I was a bit taken back, as why no one would say anything before/after ordering, or offer an alternate sauce. Luckily, she did offer to take the tacos off of our bill, but it was still disappointing as had we known the experience, we would have went elsewhere for food. The drink that I got (Pink Lotus) was good, and looked pretty, but after drinking most of it, I found a sharp piece of plastic floating in it. This was pretty concerning, but just wanting to close out and leave, I decided not to say anything. When closing out, the server dropped the check and thanked us, but didn't even make eye contact so it felt very insincere. The place has a great ambience, but the service and food/drink leaves a lot to be desired. I do not think based on this experience, I would return. read more

Me & my sister stopped in on Friday, August 1st and only received water & menus. The waitresses kept passing us by & looking but offered no service to us. After nearly 15" of waiting we got up and left. Never going back again. I think it was because we were new & not regulars to Cantine's. I now know what discrimination is. read more

A friend and I were looking for a place to grab a drink and chat, so we visited Cantine on a Saturday evening around 8:30pm. I arrived first and, unsurprising for most venues on a Saturday night, the place was nearly full. The host asked if I wanted to sit at a table or bar, and I opted for a table even though it was a share high-top. Menus and silverware for two arrived shortly after, and I opted for a paloma that was very lackluster, tasting flavorless but nearly in an unpleasant way. My next 2 palomas were delicious and seemingly made with fresh grapefruit juice (or something close!) so I figured the first one was just a fluke. I also ordered the pomme frites after my friend shared a positive review, and she was correct! The pomme frites arrived hot and tasty with delicious aioli and ketchup. There was a hearty serving so we both had our fill and still had fries left over (the tiny ones and the ones that were fried just a bit too hard). My friend ordered 3 glasses of wine, including malbec and a red blend which she did not enjoy. We stayed for about 3 hours and the crowd thinned out a bit, but the place was still full of energy and good vibes. The women's restroom was clean, and table service (especially from Dale) was pleasant. It's worth a visit. read more

It's an energetic and fun restaurant with good food and drinks. We tried several drinks and my favorite was the espresso martini. As for the food, the focaccia and hot crock were delicious. The roasted squash gnocchi, meatballs with pappardelle, and scallops were all good. Fantastic place! Got seated in a corner table by the front doors, so it was pretty drafty. It was super crowded, so the noise levels were quite loud which made conversation difficult. I believe I've given this place a 5 star in the past. I frequent here 3-7 times a month. Today, Sunday I realized the last few times here the service has been awful, I don't think it's just the newer staff because the veteran staff haven't been that good either. Let me just say the food is amazing and that's why I come. But the last few times it just seems like we have to waive someone down to get a drink, or water, or our empty plates are sitting in front of us for a very long time. Plenty of staff talking to each other or their friends but not to their customers. I'm glad they all get along but please take care of your customers. I've seen this play out at plenty of restaurants, the service starts to decline and next thing you know they have closed their doors. Check your bill before leaving. Restaurant is notorious for padding the bill. Cork fee is a joke, it amounts to a $10 surcharge for buying and drinking a bottle of wine in the restaurant. They should show the full price of the bottle and do not add surprises when you receive the bill. read more

I first went here for brunch back on Mother's day but held off writing a review since I felt it might be an atypical kind of day for them. We had to make reservations and this place was busy. We got to sit at the scenic bench-like table by the front windows. We got served our tasty food in a timely manner but we were then forgotten because of all the new tables that entered. I just wanted a refill on my coffee. My husband and I stopped back in for brunch a few weeks ago and as I suspected it was not a jam packed mad house of people. No reservation required and we got to pick our own seats. We sat at the bar so we could follow all the NFL pre-game shows that were on. The food again was good but this time we were able to move freely about the space and check out the wine and beer that they have for sale. The cutest bar in broadview heights! I absolutely love coming here on the weekends! When my friends and I come we get many menu items to share and it always is so delcious! We have just about gotten everything on their menu: Pommes Frites Chorizo Tacos Fried Calamari Sautéed Mussels Steak & Frites Beet Salad Herb Focaccia Bruschetta These all work as appetizers that you pass as family style for a group of people. They are very filling and our top favorites! The only downfall is that it's a small area for seating and if you pick a bottle of wine/beer to buy off the shelves and drink there is a corkage fee (10$ for wine and I think 3$ for beer). I came into Cantine for dinner and didn't leave disappointed. Upon walking in, the restaurant was mostly full. However, I was able to score a seat at the bar. Overall, service was pretty good. My order was taken within 5 minutes of sitting down, and I got my food in a reasonable amount of time. The dinner menu here is tapas style. I went with the Pumpkin Gnocchi and the Roasted Chicken. The Pumpkin Gnocchi surprised me (in a good way)! I was expecting standard looking gnocchi cubes. Instead, I got these massive looking cubes that somewhat resembled French toast sticks. Looks aside, it was absolutely delicious. The Roasted Chicken was also pretty good. Though it didn't blow my socks off like the gnocchi did, the chicken did pair well with the quinoa and the spinach. read more

This is a great place to eat if you're looking for a modern menu with an interesting twist. Located in the heart of a strip mall, Cantine is a great place for a small gathering or a date. Due to Covid they have a limited menu, but don't let their interesting menu turn you away. I've been here for both lunch and dinner but their brunch is my favorite. Every time I come here I get the Chorizo hash. The service is great and the food is even better. The only negative thing I have to say about Cantine is the portions are on the smaller end. They have weekly specials and update their menu frequently outside of Covid. They have a great beer and wine selection and a stocked liquor bar with plenty of options. read more

They did, except it was even louder 10 minutes later, to the point where it was hurting our ears. It was ridiculous, at points I was literally screaming to the person across from me. This is definitely not a restaurant to casually socialize at. The food selection was decent. I ordered the shrimp linguini and it was okay...5/10. My friend ordered the chorizo tacos which, according to her, "tasted like she ordered $14 worth of Taco Bell". The pomme frites were absolutely delicious, though!
