Little restaurant in a shopping center, a bit of a distance from FSU but close to a couple hotels and the mall. There isn't a lot of seating inside so the wait is always long. We had to wait about 30 mins and they seated us outside. It was extremely hot in this area as the sun hits the patio in the morning and the fans weren't working properly. The shade that they have also doesn't block out the heat well. The food came out quickly. We had to remind the waitress a couple times for more coffee or we had to waive her down to ask for different things. We had to eat rushed to leave quickly due to the heat.

A nice breakfast spot across from the hotel I stayed at. I sat up at the bar counter and was in and out with ease. The is inside was big and easy to get around. The service was friendly and prompt. I had the basic bacon and eggs breakfast with a coffee, and everything hit the spot. Thanks for the service and for having me!

Mushroom cheddar omelette with sourdough toast!

Since my stepson started going to FSU, we've been on the lookout for good breakfast spots. This Canopy Road Cafe location was right up the road from our hotel on Apalachee. Luckily for us, we got here after the breakfast crowd and got seated right away. The cafe is part of a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. It's nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. The menu has all the standard breakfast options along with lots of healthy choices. The omelettes sounded good so we all ordered these with various combinations. My cheddar mushroom omelette served with sourdough bread was delicious! The hash browns were more like shredded potatoes, not my favorite. The coffee, however, was excellent. I'd definitely go back to this spot or try one of the three other locations in Tallahassee. If you're going at the peak breakfast time, just be prepared for a wait.

Been coming here for years, even before they expanded to more locations. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and they know the regulars. Very casual, easy going atmosphere.

Canopy Road Breakfast over hotel breakfast any day! I was visiting Tallahassee for a few days. My hotel stay did not include breakfast but Canopy was right across the street so made my way over. It did not disappoint! Lucky every time I went it was a short wait, so my party & I were seated quickly. Waiters were super friendly and nice and made some great recommendations. We went twice in 1 week. My recommendations for anyone visiting. Get the cinnamon roll or the blueberry crumble muffin (split and buttered on the grill as recommended on their menu, of course!). Both are perfect sharing size or you could eat it by itself for breakfast. For entrees, I tried the Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict. A little too much hollandaise sauce for me. But the all-star was the chicken which had the right amount of heat and full of flavor. They also have great hash browns. You know a breakfast place is good when they have great hash browns. I was able to get a taste of the Douglas Breakfast Skillet over home fries too. Skillet was full of flavor; can't go wrong with that. Just delicious! The portions are a good size; perfect for a brunch type meal. Great breakfast spot got sure!

Burnt and served for $17.00. One of my favorite restaurants in the past but I'm very unsatisfied today. Eggs were perfect. Toast lightly burned on one side. Hash browns were to a crisp. Barely any cheese. Ham uncooked. Bacon and sausage extra done. I tried to eat but the further I got the worst it was...

Great ambiance and super friendly staff. Reservations are recommended and it closes at 2-ish. We got there at the end of their day. We enjoyed their corned beef hash dish and the biscuits and gravy. Their fried green tomatoes were also good, but a little batter-heavy. We'll go back.

My favorite restaurant in the US! Sometimes I go out of my way to go to Tallahassee just to go to Canopy Road. Excellent plant based options as well as yummy dessert pancakes!

Biscuits and gravy breakfast (1)

The Food(breakfast) is outstanding! I ordered biscuits and gravy and the taste was homemade and the amount was enough for 2 people. A cute little restaurant tucked away in the corner. You must make it here!

Nice little cafe in Tallahassee, with great vegan options, everything was delicious. The only drawback was the long wait, the waitress we had was attentive and the restaurant was clean!

Goat In The Garden Omelette

Excellent breakfast! We were seated promptly at a table, which seemed lucky because the place was packed. It's obviously a local favorite for weekend mornings. Our server was super friendly and helpful with some dietary modifications we asked for on one of the dishes. The food came out ridiculously quickly and we were all very happy with our orders. The Veggie omelette was packed full of all your garden favorites and accompanied by some very delicious and perfectly crisped home fries. I paid an up charge for fruit substitute for one of the starches and it was a good decision - a nice little assortment and all very fresh. Both the goat cheese omelette and the decadent French toast went over well too. This is one of those restaurants that I hope to try again when in the area to sample some of their other dishes.

The service was poor and our food was cold. I wanted to try this place for a while and sadly it was underwhelming and disappointing.

Ask the Community - Canopy Road Cafe

Can I get breakfast during the lunch hour too?

Yes! My coworkers and I frequently order items from both their breakfast and lunch menus during our lunch break.

Is this place located on the canopy road near Magnolia in Tallahassee?

This specific location is located on Apalachee Pkwy (1779 Apalachee to be exact). It's in the same plaza as the Petsmart and Party City, among other stores. The other locations are at 1913 N. Monroe (near Planet Fitness) and 2202 Capital Circle NE.

During Sunday brunch, we were seated quickly, even without reservations, even while it was very busy. There were lots of people ~ the venue is cute and quaint... my friend, however, was stuck on the paint chips and holes in the wall. The food was great. I got fried deviled eggs (yummy), fried catfish, red velvet waffles, eggs and corned beef hash. The catfish was extremely fresh. The red velvet cupcakes came with a cream cheese sauce that tasted more like Krispy Kreme donut glaze or just a sugary sauce. I wish it had more of a cream cheese flavor. I wasn't pleased with it. The corn beef hash was good. My friend got the chicken and pancakes. The chicken was delicious, perfectly fried. The customer service was great ~ warm, attentive, inviting, quick, and well managed to be so busy. Jordan, our server, was amazing! The ambience and crowd were nice, diverse. Unfortunately, the speaker wasn't working properly so initially it was incredibly, awkwardly quiet. When the speaker did start working, it sounded busted. Hope you enjoy if you ever go visit.

I managed to secure a nice table with not even a 25 minute wait thanks to a very courteous and professional manager (thank you, Steve!). At the table, everything was clean, shiny and the server was prompt despite a very busy morning. The crowd, obviously, seemed to be mostly college students and parents. I'm pretty sure during the week it's the Capitol Hill crowd. The food was tasty and really hit the spot. Coffees fresh brewed all around, of course. We started with the Breakfast Poutine for appetizer which was hearty and all enjoyed. For entrees, two Southern Benedict, the Waffle Flight, scrambled eggs and bacon. All the food was cooked to order, presented nicely and the taste exceeded expectations. Also, kudos to our Server, Jose. We'll likely visit again and enjoyed the meal. The ambience, flavors and service professionals were great. I should also mention parking in this area can be challenging so take that into consideration. Do make a reservation or arrive early!

We chose Hayward House to celebrate our son's graduation from Florida State University and made a…read more2:15 pm lunch reservation for 6 people because the ceremony was at 7 pm. We drove to Tallahassee that day, but unfortunately got caught in heavy traffic due to President Trump speaking in Sumter County near The Villages. As Soon as we realized we would not make our reservation, we called the restaurant to explain the unavoidable circumstances and asked if there was any way to move our reservation to another time that day. Initially, we were told no, so we canceled the reservation. Shortly afterwards, the restaurant called back and informed us we would be charged a cancellation fee of $ 150 - $ 25.00 per person. I completely understand having a cancellation policy, however, charging $ 25 per person for a lunch reservation during unavoidable traffic circumstances felt excessive and unreasonable, especially after we proactively called ahead. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility or compassion during an important family milestone. I explained repeatedly that we were desperately trying not to miss our son's graduation celebration and were even worried about missing the ceremony itself because we were stuck in traffic. I asked about every possible alternative- a later dinner reservation, appetizers only, or even moving reservation to another day. Ever request was denied except for a 4 pm slot, which still was not realistic given the traffic situation. What upset me the most was not just the fee itself, but the unwillingness to work with us. A more customer focused approach could have been allowing the $ 150 to be applied toward a future visit. Because of this experience, my family will NEVER dine at Hayward House, and I would NOT recommend it to other FSU families celebrating special occasions.

R&R at Hotel Indigo in Tallahassee, FL…read more Stayed a couple nights at Hotel Indigo on a work trip and naturally ended up at R&R more than once because: location, location, location. Easy access plus a bar meant repeat visits. Let's start with the GOODS the drinks! I stopped in to the bar multiple times and the cocktails are where they shined for me. Ryan the bartender - WOW next level. Superb! Knows his stuff, and made every drink a hit for me. My top pick? The Juju, hands down my favorite. But I also got a sneak peek of a new drink coming to their seasonal menu called the Lily Pad, and OMG mmmmmm. So good. Bright, refreshing, well-balanced. Totally check out my photos for that one. Now... about breakfast. It's a No for me. Enough. I had the Nashville Honey Chicken Biscuits and they are a FAIL, a No. Dry, sad, biscuits with fried frozen chicken nugget in it and not worth $16. It's an embarrassment to the establishment. The Cortado, also a miss!... but it was coffee and I needed to get going to work. R&R, please rethink breakfast: 100% did not meet the price point. Skip breakfast or walk across the street, there's a bagel shop. The hotel indigo is really cute and I'll probably write a review about that on a separate, the place is overall cute, but there's very limited food places around the hotel. So in conclusion, I will give you an extra star for the convenience and the bar. After my experience for breakfast, I did not care to come here for food at all anymore. Expensive cheap food. Just because they're helped by a great bar and a beautiful hotel and a great location..
