I had hired Drew based on a recommendation from a friend and x-coworker and I am glad that I did. In May 2014. I had met a women from of craigslist and bought a crazy dog named Luna. Luna was any where between 5-8 months and I would now be her 4th owner. Luna was an extra large puppy about 75lbs a shepherd, boarder collie, retriever cross and facing many health problems as well as behaviour issues that were unfolding by the day. Luna is now between 98-100lbs. Luna was hyperactive, barely knew to sit, would chronically whine, stress bark/scream became reactive (barking and lunging) at dogs, buses, large trucks and would lose complete control if she saw anyone with a ball of any kind. Luna could not focus at all was high stressed, high strung and a handful who is a super athletic dog who is strong. Luna wold turn her frustration to me and jump up and nip and mouth leaving me with busies and often in tears. Drew and I worked for the same company for many years knew of one another but didn't know one another well. Meeting drew on our first consultation I was so nervous I was trembling. My fear was that Drew would tell me that Luna should be put down or was hopeless to train, would have no dog friends and was aggressive. (Something another trainer advised me) I loved Luna and saw her struggles the moment she stepped out of the craigslist posters car and I knew I wouldn't give up on her. Drew is supportive and not once indicated that there was no hope for Luna. Drew tried all kinds of tactics to reach and connect with Luna. Drew helped me perfect my body language and increase my confidence working a strong, working breed. Drew helped me break down step by step every challenge I was facing (and there were many) Every time I needed Drew a solution was provided. It was a struggle and Drew's commitment to Luna was an inspiration and motivation to keep going. Today Luna has peace a gift Drew helped me create with Luna. Luna knows well over 50 commands well, Luna is obedient has learned to ignore all dogs, has actually made dog friends and can be trusted with puppies as young at 9 weeks old with no issues. Luna now walks with young puppies and adolescent dogs giving them confidence and lesson their fear of large dogs. We hired Drew to help us with our rescue Australian cattle dog. Before Drew came our dog was reactive and difficult to walk. Our dog was also aggressive with visitors to the house, which was having impacts on our lives. Drew set up a training schedule for us, was extremely knowledgeable and great to work with. Today, I inquired about hiring Drew for his services for my dog, Olive. Over the phone, he went over what goals I want to accomplish for my dog through his services and we talked about plans for booking the initial consultation for October 26th, 2019. I then asked Drew about the cost of consultations and the training sessions. He told me that he was uncomfortable giving away his rates, which I found a little weird. I asked for a ball-park range for his rates. I was in no way implying that I only wanted him for one or two sessions. Being a financially responsible person, I think it's fair for a customer to inquire about his rates (even approximate ballpark range), especially given that I was looking for long-term help for my dog. Anyways, he basically hung up on me. He could be the greatest dog trainer, maybe he thinks he is the new Cesar Millan, but I won't hire someone that overreacts to a simple question. When Drew first answered our call for help, our Husky, Malamute, Shepard, Wolf cross, Benjen, was just under a year and 100lbs. We had allowed him to take control of our home and lives, and he was well on his way to becoming a monster that we were steadily losing control of. Our cats lived in fear and we had separated the upstairs and downstairs of our house so that they could have some security. Within 5 minutes of being in our home, Drew assessed the situation called us out on the problem...us. We were not providing Benjen with enough leadership, structure and rules by which he had to live by. We signed up for the Dream Dog Package and it was well worth it. I had never had to manage a problem dog before, and I really felt lost, when I adopted my dog Poncho. Drew helped me to establish the foundations to really improve my dog's behaviour. It has been a couple years since I worked with Drew but the foundations we laid have stayed incredibly strong. My rescue dog and I have moved cities and since worked with a few other trainers (some of different philosophies) and each time they are very impressed with the strong skills my dog Lexi and I both have. Regardless of if you are a positive reinforcement trainer, reward based or a correction based one...the reality is that each dog is unique and the best trainers are able to be open and intuitive to what your dog needs as well as be a support system for you as the human and act as an advocate for the well being of your life together. I believe Drew was that for us and was able to see what we needed and when. Working with Drew during the hardest time of our lives together, when I was considering rehoming and literally clueless on behaviour, was so very vital to being able to continue a happy, healthy and balanced life together. Living with any dog, and especially a rescue, involves a life long commitment to training whether you are doing it on your own or with a professional. So much of what I use every day is from my beginnings of training with Drew and all of our progress and improvement I know is possible because of him. I would have never been able to keep my dog without Drew's help and I think back to that time and how lost we were, and I just can't thank him enough for helping us create a better life together. We have been able to grow and learn together to a point where we live a balanced, safe and manageable life that is constantly improving. We even have been able to get Lexi a big brother, something I never thought possible. Of course we still have work to do but every day we try and are able to do that because of our experience with Drew and the foundation we did together. The skills I learned are now a natural and normal every day thing for our family, and over time it has really proven to be successful and I know will continue to be so. My dog looks to me as a leader and a parent, and I think both are important especially with a reactive rescue dog. The combination of corrections and positive reinforcement proved to work very well for Lexi. She wasn't food driven and her anxiety was through the roof, so having strategies to handle her safely and be able to actually learn was a challenge. Drew has a gift for working with anxious dogs and understands aggression well, so there was no fear or hesitation when we were working together. Drew was devoted to doing whatever it took to find my dog a calm, balanced way to live and helped me understand what it all meant and how to work through it. For us, we needed an individualized strategy that involved thinking out of the box and trying new scenarios (like visiting a vet clinic and group sessions), all of which Drew was always eager to help us with. Now my dog wears a muzzle proudly when she has to, and she does 'place' and go to her bed so easily, loves her crate both in the car and at home, her leash walking skills are perfect and she listens to commands so well. We got a second dog, can go to dog parks with a strong understanding of behaviour around us and be able to recognize body language, we walk proudly and with intention because we know there is hope to taking a 'broken' dog and finding peace even if that doesn't look exactly like we imagined. We are constantly learning and improving and all of this is possible because of Drew. I adopted Cali when she was 4 months old. She was a rescue from California, who was set to be put down in the shelter due to overpopulation. I brought her into my home, and wanted to give her a wonderful life. What I ended up giving her was free reign and full control of my house, because I felt bad for her and what she had been through. When we started working with Andrea, Cali was nervous, excitable and anxious. She pulled every time we would walk. She was playing too rough at the park. She antagonized other dogs. And she refused to listen to me. When Andrea entered my house for the first time, Cali showed her immediate attention and respect. Andrea helped me set boundaries and structure for Cali in my house. George and Fiesta are two VERY different dogs, one, a pure bread lap dog and the other is a rescue from Mexico. Both are highly anxious and excitable in their own way. The rescue, Fiesta, is often aggressive with strangers, especially new people coming into our home. Andrea was not afraid of a stand-off with Fiesta. No one was bitten, and the stand-off lasted 45 minutes. The take home message, Andrea did not give up on us or Fiesta, and they are such good friends today! Fiesta was an unstable and anxious dog who would lash out when she felt threatened (and often it was unjustified). Andrea helped Fiesta recognize that she wasn't the boss, and that we, as the humans, were her leaders. Fiesta is a different dog these days. Calm and relaxed (lying at my feet as we speak), and she looks to me for instruction. She now has no doubt that I am the 'pack leader', and she can now be a happy and balanced dog. George, our little prince, is high energy and high anxiety. He gets worked up when we are on the move or coming and going from the house. With Andreas support we are working on lowering that level of anxiety. For him, a daily run on the treadmill leaves him calm and balanced. Not only did Andrea come to our home, numerous times, to work with us and the dogs, she has also been available by phone or email for little follow up questions or problems. She will not only train your dog, she works closely with you, so you can be a better leader. She makes it seem so simple. Everything we had tried in the past had not worked, so she is definitely doing something right!! Doing all the things right! When I called Andrea I was at my wits end and looking to re-home my ridgeback/boxer rescue Lexi. At just under a year old with most of her life as a stray or in a shelter, she had never experienced consistent leadership and was a real challenge. She was exhibiting aggressive behaviour towards other dogs and dominating humans with her biting and jumping. Yesterday Andrea helped teach me some valuable lessons in order to have better walks with my smart little pup, Bella. A company where your furry companion comes third, money comes first and controversial training techniques come second. After our initial consult we were impressed with what the trainer had to offer. Drew seemed upfront, honest and gave us some excellent training techniques to work with immediately - which showed success. We picked out the 'Dream Dog Package' and purchased the OPTIONAL ecollar unsure if we wanted to use it. We were told it was a tool to help speed up the training process if we so chose to use it. There was no mention of it in the Dream Dog Package, nor was there a mention of it in the contract that the trainer and us signed. The following week was our first session with the Dream Dog Package and it was a complete step backwards from the initial consultation. We were told not to use the technique which we were initially taught and were scolded for doing so. Needless to say the first session was confusing and felt like it was put together on the spot by the trainer. We worked on what we were given that week and had a bit more added the second week. Again, the trainer fumbled along in the second session and it was obvious our needs for this plan were not being put first. The third week was bad. Our pup had a bad skin infection, threw up a couple days prior, and was just sick. We informed Drew of this and were told that our next training session was going to be indoors. To our surprise when Drew arrived we were told to get outside immediately. This threw us all into a panic as we were completely unprepared. One would think that a trainer would be better prepared by the third week, but alas, we were not overly surprised by this point. The panic caused by the trainer set the tone for the session - terrible. Our dog got into his worst tiff. The trainer, again making things up on the spot decided 'hey, let's use the ecollar when the dog is sick and completely worked out'. Well, what a terrible idea that was as the trainer set the ecollar to a 23 - we were told it would not be used much past a 4. After that sickening debacle we researched more on ecollars. This also include a visit to our vet whom was disgusted with the use of the ecollar along with the conduct of this trainer. At this point, we as a family decided we were no longer comfortable with the ecollar. When we told the trainer that we were no longer comfortable with the ecollar Drew decided that she would no longer honour the 'Dream Dog Plan' or contract. We wanted to continue sessions using other techniques that were promised as we were told the ecollar was an optional tool. Drew decided nope, it was her way or the highway with our money - no refund on the remaining six sessions nor would there be anymore training sessions. At the end of the day, we were not going to subject our furry family member to a trainer that was attempting to bully us into using the controversial ecollar. There was not one conversation that ever took place in which we all agreed that the ecollar was mandatory - the package or contract make no mention of it along with any correspondence that took place. When we inquired about the $220 in training tools that we had yet to receive we were in for another surprise. The total value of these 'training tools' was significantly less than the quoted $220 value. I understand that everyone has to mark things up for their business, but this is ridiculous as these are not even being sold! If you tell someone you are going to provide the training tools for a package that has been purchased, then you should list the cost of the goods and not some made-up price to make your package look more appealing. This is simply false advertising. Drew did not even offer to bring the items that were owed to us to our place. Throughout the week (starting on Tuesday) we asked Drew to provide us a tracking number. Drew once again went silent on email. It was not until Friday afternoon that the items shipped - which meant we would have to further wait to receive what was ours. Learn from our mistakes. When looking for a trainer make sure you don't feel pressured by shady business practices. The consult cost $$$ and if we signed up for a package within 24 hours we got a $$ credit towards the package. Don't let this force you to make a quick decision. Instead, look for other trainers. In fact, after more research it is obvious that a lot of trainers do not charge an absurd consultation fee. If you are thinking about using the ecollar get it in the contract that it is an optional tool. You should be able to do more research and make an informed decision at ANY point; especially when undue care is taken by the trainer with your pet. A trainer claiming to be trained by Cesar Milan means nothing. Instead, look up approved Cesar Milan trainers via the International Association of Canine Professionals. read more

Andrea has worked with myself, my partner and our dog Phinda with excellent results. A few of our issues were with Phinda wanting to lead the pack. He was so protective over us that when anyone or other dogs came around us, he became dominant and even aggressive. Each session we learned new techniques to use and practice during the week.
