I started coming here for Agility a few years ago during the pandemic and it has been awesome. I…read morecame from another facility and initially was quite nervous we wouldn't fit in as the initial application required a demonstration video but it was fine and more to make sure we were registered for the correct Agility skill level. During the pandemic they followed Public Health Orders and always ensured safety was maintained for dogs and trainers alike. My dog and I were made to feel very welcome and it has been really great training both privately and in group classes. The group class community is very positive and encouraging - people clap for each other, cheer each other on or even trade videos of each other's runs. We also laugh at the silly things our dogs do from time to time. The instructor I've been primarily working with is Elisha and she has an incredible sense of humour, is an encouraging coach and is quick to identify errors and recommend adjustments. All the dogs love her as she often has the best treats for the most challenging obstacles. They have a good registration system in place where if you already have a spot in the class then you have a reserved space for the next series. Private lessons are popular also. Staff are very communicative and kind with questions. Bonus is that their payment system is through a business version of PayPal so I feel my credit card information is safe. I'd highly recommend this place if you're thinking about taking your dog here for training.

Julia is an excellent instructor, she explains everything really well, is very patient (with dog and handler alike), and has excellent tips and tricks. Whenever we're stuck or have a problem, she always has a good solution. She is truly an expert and a pleasure to learn from. I can't believe how fast Molly is making progress! I look forward to continued classes and fun.

If I could give a -10, I would rate it that way. Heather the trainer was so rude with us. I have…read morenever met someone so rude before. During class with our puppy, she constantly gave us negative remarks instead of encouraging one. Instead of showing and explaining how to do certain things with the dogs, she gave very minimum hints, watched you try and then she went "No!!" in a mean way, "you are doing it wrong!" But she failed to actually show how to do anything. She is a complete confidence crusher, always make us feel that we are doing it wrong but failed to show properly with our dog. When she tried to show with our dog who got excited, she threw the leash back at us because she could not deal with our dog who is not trained. Why did I stick to all 6 classes? Because we needed training with our puppy. It turned out that now I fear going to any trainers. On the second class, she got very angry with us as we walked up in the space where she trains and said to me in a very angry tone: "if you walk with her (our puppy) like this I can't help you!" Uuuhh?! Isn't it why we take a training class, because we need help with training? She never showed how to walk the dog on the leash to that point. We have never had a dog before and she knew it. I was stunned by her anger and disgust at us, I almost turned around in tears. On all 6 classes, she was abrupt with us, presumptuous, disrespectful, dismissive and very unpleasant. She insulted me and my son on a few occasions and she belittled us. We were very uncomfortable but we could not have our money back and cancel any session because you can't have your money back after the second class, even part of the money. She favored one dog and his owners the entire 6 classes. AND get this, when that dog barked at our dog, which was at every class, she blamed our dog. Our puppy sat in the only small space allowed, without barking once. Well, Heather's assistant gave a bully stick to the dog who was aggressive towards our dog. Our dog remained calm, just look at her give a bully stick to the aggressive dog, got all excited expecting one too, but did not get a positive reinforcement with a bully stick for not reacting to the barking dog. So, she reinforced the aggressive dog, excusing herself with this "when a dog won't stop a behavior get the dog a distraction". Every dogs and owners witnessed her reinforcing the bad behavior and ignoring all the other dogs who sat quietly at their spot. The last two classes out of the 6, she gave her time to one dog (guess which one? Yup, the barking little one) and his two owners, leaving us to over train only 2 things for the entire hour, on our own, checking in very briefly. I could have watch a youtube for free and learn more. Yet, in her binder, she said not to over train, no more than 5 - 10 minutes of same training. At the end of the 6 classes, my puppy got a picture with a certificate, in a dark corner!!! The other dogs got lots of attention and a bright space for their picture. Now I am thinking she hated my puppy and us. A few days after the last class, I went back to to buy a harness that we were looking for for our dog and could not find anywhere else. Heather did not even say hi, or talk to me, she completely ignored me and had her assistant do the talking. She appeared, as usual, to despise me and my puppy. I discourage anyone thinking of training their dog with her. She is a bit cheaper than the other dog trainers, but I guess you get what you pay for. Avoid this trainer. I wish I had turned around and RUN.

Heather is a clicker guru! I have a 3-year-old pit bull who is very smart and eager to learn, and I…read morewas looking around for a class that would challenge her active little brain. Heather came recommended to me and although I didn't know anything about clicker training, I thought it was worth a try. By the second class I was hooked. Although we were working offleash around other dogs and hyper puppies, my dog's focus on the clicker was razor-sharp and her tail wagged the whole time. Heather's class is set up so you work independently on the area of your choice, whether it's settling on cue, recall, focus, basic obedience, targeting or party tricks. She's very experienced and used to working with strong breeds, so she's seen it all and can help you find ways to communicate with your dog and shape the behaviour you want. The class and the background reading will give you a firm foundation in clicker training so that you can use it at home, and she encourages you to come back for drop-in refresher sessions. My favourite part was seeing my dog so happy to be learning. Heather's approach teaches you how to communicate with your dog, work as a team, and have a LOT of fun.

We were absolutely delighted with Sweet Pea and Me, and so was Lucky! Dog-walker extraordinaire Sara Bartlett is one of the most dedicated, professional business owners we've ever met. She picked up Lucky during our long work days, took her to the beach for a swim, and returned her tired, happy and smelling like mangoes (she cleans the dogs after their swims with special grooming spray). Since Lucky is an older dog, Sara was very sensitive to her needs, and made sure that she rested when she got tired. Lucky seemed to really like Sara, and we felt comfortable leaving her in Sara's capable hands since she has a pet first aid certificate and is bonded and insured. For us humans, Sweet Pea and Me is a pleasure to deal with. All of our phone calls, emails, appointment requests and text messages were answered promptly. Sara sent us frequent texts and photos during her walks, notifying us of when Lucky was picked up, when she was returned, and how she was doing. Not only that, but every day after her walk, Sara left a cute little paper bag filled with a different flavour of truly home-made, organic dog cookies which Lucky thought were delicious. I would recommend Sweet Pea and Me without hesitation to anyone who has a special dog in their lives!
