Vancouver Veterinary Hospital - Backside of my dogs mangled ear. Absolutely no reason to have stitched through his entire ear cartilage yet here we are!!

If you hate your pets, you should bring them here for service. I would rate this place 0/5 if it…read morewas an option. They butchered my dogs ear and instead of repairing his hematoma with buttons and stitches like I was told it would be, once we had him sedated and I was to leave my dog in their care, they instead chose to suture 12 tubes into his ear damaging perfectly healthy ear tissue and stitching entirely through his cartilage 24 times. Zero informed care and quite frankly, I receive better care and service advising from my mechanic. I was sent home post-op with no pain killers or meds to help my dogs recovery process and within 5 days of his surgery and 1 evening using the no flap wrap they insisted I put him in even with these gross tubes and sutures in place, he got an infection immediately. I was told there was nothing I could buy from them to help his bleeding sutures heal a bit, clearly they are unaware Otizole exists. I was provided the wrong type of medication for the site of his infection (clavaseptin instead of cefaseptin), and ultimately needed to bring my dog to a vet who actually knows what they're doing for surgical procedures and post-op care. After VVH operated on my dog, I called numerous vets in Vancouver/Burnaby area to talk to them about their hematoma repair process and NONE of them supported the procedure of stitching entirely through my dog's ear nor was it advised to have ever sent me home with zero pain meds or anti-inflammatories, or use a no flap wrap (I was told to buy one and put it on my dog immediately after his surgery) My original review was hidden by VVH likely due to the photos I attached with it which is truly comical considering their management noted surgery procedure was validated. Show the photos and full review if that's the case and stop hiding the work you're so clearly proud of and refuse to reimburse me for despite costing me $1600 in a botched hematoma repair PLUS a second surgery which I paid for at a different vet all together, and additional costs for gauze and a no flap wrap which I was told numerous times to buy and keep on my dog for 30 days. I'm lucky my dog didn't die from their malpractice and overall lack of care in our time of need.

This place has gone completely downhill from years ago. I have been trying to get an appointment…read morefor weeks now. Using their contact form, I have requested appointments numerous times telling them when I'm available, and when they do deem to answer by email a day or two later, I am then asked to phone THEM! But when I do, they don't answer the frigging phone... EVER! I then email to ask them to phone me.... but I get crickets... and in the meantime, my pet has to suffer. Absolutely appalling service from reception staff at this establishment. The entire reception staff need to be sacked - and I will go out of my way to inform the owners as soon as I find out exactly who they are. So sad, as I couldn't recommend this place enough years ago.

I've been taking my Wee Angus to the Doghouse once or twice a week, since he was a pup (he's 6 yr…read moreold now). Although I've often thought of writing a review, I never got around to it but when I picked Angus up yesterday, I knew I had to tell anyone looking for a doggie daycare, what a special place the Doghouse is and how wonderful & caring the people who work there are. You can expect your doggie to have walks, play and cuddles, but on occasions like Halloween, you can expect the staff to go above and beyond and add another layer of fun to the day. My Wee Angus really loves coming here. I really appreciate the environment Christine (manager), Laura and Jenna have created for the doggies & the positive work environment they seem to have with each other. This is a great place for small dogs and I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a daycare for your small doggie.

Every visit the first year he gained confidence, he has best friends, human and of course many dog buddies. Check out Instagarm and you will see Markus and all the dogs. He is so happy to attend and gets excited when we are a block away. The staff truly love the dogs and interact with them. When we pick him up we get updates, lately Markus is going on longer walks which is awesome. He is ready for quiet hang out time at the end of the day, having walked, played, napped and snacked. Staff never force him to walk, some days he is more quiet and just wants his pee breaks and short walks, other days he leads the pack. We reccomend The Doghouse 100% !

I came in at 230 am coming from North Delta /Surrey area, I had a 9 day old hairless bambino kitten…read morewho was being bottle fed due to mom not feeding well and failure to latch from three of her 6 offspring. The little female kitten had aspirated milk when she was suckling to fast from the syringe. Normally a kitten will be able to clear the bit of milk from nose and lungs. But she had not by the 130 am feeding and was gasping for air. I looked for a vet open and after calling three that said they were 24hrs and getting a message I was happy when staff answered at this vets office. We raced down to the vet and they saw us right away. After an exam the Dr. said she needed to be in an oxygen he gave me a quate of 450 for 24 hrs with possible meds of no more then 100.00 before calling for another ok, this included temp checks helping kitten use washroom, feeding every two hrs round the clock care. fluids if needed with extra days at 150 only. We picked her up and she was clean and active, we had been warned there was a 30% chance without the oxygen she could start to bring up more fluid and by 6pm she started to have a bit. As we live very far and it was 6pm we made the mistake of rushing to a closer vet. This emergency animal Hospital took her with a request that she be given same treatment when they only had a hose for oxygen and no closed cage just a regular cage with a heating pad that worked poorly, they used a size 8 tube to feed her while she was cold which was way too big, her throat was budging. we saw in the am what cage she was in she was ice cold covered in mucus with a distended abdomen from needing to pee, so weak she could barly move, the price was 1200.00 and my cat died on the way home. Had I gone back to Atlas my baby would be alive today, instead I went to a closer vet and my poor baby paid with her life. I would like to thank Avalon staff and the Dr who looked after her the first night. Its too bad that not every hospital is as caring and devoted to the well being and care that your office gave our little girl on her first night , but I made a bad call because I didnt want to travel an extra 30 mins in traffic to come back to your kind staff, that one choice cost me my baby, had she come back to your wonderful staff she would be with me today and id have 1200 more dollars and my pet whom I fell in love with we were keeping her.

I brought my dog to Atlas Animal Hospital after he suddenly started vomiting, collapsed, couldn't…read morewalk, and refused to eat. The vet recommended an x-ray, blood test, and a 24-hour stay. The initial invoice was over $1,400, but when I said I wanted to leave, they suddenly lowered it to $800 without the 24-hour stay. This felt very unsettling. After paying, my dog had the x-ray and blood test, but the results were not explained clearly. We were sent home with pills. Also, the doctor later called us and said our dog needed to do another test costing over $1,000. Unfortunately, after 5 days, my dog's symptoms returned. We then went to another animal hospital with better reviews. They explained everything much more clearly and requested the records from Atlas. They even redid the x-ray -- and the results were completely different from what Atlas had given us. I had a very disappointing experience at Atlas Animal Hospital. In my opinion, their focus seemed to be more on money than on genuinely caring for pets. I felt that my pet's needs were not prioritized, and instead I was pressured about costs.
