After an apartment fire forced me to relocate more than 50 km away--a valid reason for cancellation under their own contract--I tried to cancel my plan. Despite paying $1,464.66 and only using $338.89 worth of services, VCA kept $1,125.77 of my money! That's money I paid for services I never even used! To make matters worse, when I tried to transfer my plan to a new VCA hospital in my current city, they flat-out refused. So not only did they refuse to transfer my plan, they kept the money after I canceled. The entire contract is designed to exploit customers and squeeze out every penny, no matter the circumstances. This is a blatant money grab and feels heartless, especially considering I've lost everything in a fire. I expected care for my pet, but what I got instead was greed. Be cautious before signing up for this plan--it's unfair and completely lacks compassion. What makes it worse is the predatory practices that VCA engages in. When they automatically renewed my plan they had enrolled me in the wrong plan, and when I had realized this it was already past their arbitrary 60-day window to make changes. Their "options" to resolve the issue were: 1. Cancel my current plan, switch to a Senior Paws Plus plan (which would increase my monthly payments), applying the payments I had already made in the current plan and locking me into a new 12-month contract, 2. Stay on my current plan, get a $516.69 discount on a dental service (but still pay about $800 upfront for the procedure, including anesthesia, x-rays, meds, etc.). Lastly, when the plan was switched over, I was charged for the first month of the new plan and the last month of the old plan in the same month. The real insult? They're happy to offer a discount if I continue paying into their system, but they refuse to refund the excess money I paid for services I never used--money I can't afford to lose as a low-income individual living in social housing and currently without a home. I prioritize my pet's well-being, but clearly, VCA is more interested in draining their customers' wallets than actually helping them care for their pets. I am absolutely disgusted and extremely disappointed with VCA Canada CareClub's lack of ethics and compassion. Avoid them at all costs!

Wowie. Where to begin! We have been taking our dog here for years, and he loves the staff here just…read moreas much as day one. We have used both the daycare and boarding services with no issues at all, staff are very detail oriented, handle medication administration with such professionalism and our dog always comes back in great condition. Staff: The team here is responsive, responsible and always friendly. They have accommodated our many detailed requests in terms of medications, and feeding our dog. They are so patient as we are always experimenting with weird things like adding probiotics/different cooked food mixes, toppers etc. they label everything, and even return containers cleaned! Picture updates are provided (although I wish there were some videos because we are so curious what our doggo gets up to while we are away). Honestly we have never had a bad interaction with anyone on the team. Space: They do split dogs between larger sized breeds and smaller, and the space is absolutely gorgeous, clearly designed with dogs in mind. Take a tour and see for yourself! Dogs are not left alone overnight. There is staff at all times and this was a big draw for why we chose Rex for boarding. There is also outdoor space complete with water activities and things to play with- again another reason we chose Rex. it can be difficult to find a daycare that offers outdoor space in Vancouver! It is also worth mentioning my doggo has never been returned to us with any cleanliness issues. I will note if your dog doesnt like sleeping in an open group environment you might need to pay a bit more for a more private sleeping format. Pricing:Pricing has always been very transparent. You can look on the website and find it listed clearly. I think it's comparable to similar facilities. There are some surcharges for boarding at peak times (ie. $15/night for Christmas) but I think thats understandable. In addition there are fees for medication administration (5 bucks/day) and a deposit (that goes towards your booking) to reserve boarding over stat holidays, but these have always been clear upfront, and staff are responsive to emails/happy to provide quotes before booking so you know exactly what to expect. We don't find the pricing to be unreasonable or ever a surprise although we haven't jumped on the daycare club card discount they offer ($390 for 10 full days) just because it can be lot up of upfront cost for a total 10 dollar discount minimum. However, it's worth noting club cards have no expiry and are totally refundable and likely make sense for other people who maybe take their doggo more regularly than us. Honestly, we once bought a half day card and totally forgot we had it! We were reminded by diligent staff! Most importantly:When we bring our doggo he is always excited and just immediately runs to the staff who are there to greet him. We think he truly adores the staff and his furry friends at Rex. We honestly have no complaints! I'm sure each dog is different so we can only speak to our own experience, but Rex has been great for us so far. If you are considering this place I'd say you really have got nothing to lose checking them out!

They post tons of photos on instagram and facebook throughout the day so you can see what your pup is up to. And they're always super responsive via text and email. When we moved away this past summer, we were especially sad that Charlie wouldn't get to go to pipsqueak. They threw him a little party with bowties, his signature look! A few months ago we met Big Mike and Joyce and they came highly recommended online from a pal. They came over and met us and we went for a family walk together with the big guy. Instantly he took to them and they loved him. We really connected and it was a match on all fronts. We travel a ton, we work a lot out of town. It's hard with a French Mastif like Thor. He's so spoilt and a senior at 7. He needs a lot of attention and lots of rubbing and loving and care. Mastiffs are like that, super sensitive and always on you. He's very playful and full of spunk for his age ya gotta love him. Anyways, they have stayed twice since and Thor's face is priceless man! He looks happy and so relaxed honestly. I gotta say it really makes our coming home a wonderful experience when we open the door and see him like that. Mike and Joyce and animal experts. They bing a massive gambit of proven methods that work for each case. They are great listeners and on top of following our rules of the house and dealing with Thor, they teach us a few things along the way. Immeasurable in terms of hiring a REAL PRO. All we can say is this is a dog town and ironically it's so hard to find the right person to house sit your pet. Just trust in them and enjoy their services.
