We have been using The Dog Patch for our two dogs for the past couple years! The Aunties as they call themselves truly love the dogs. We drive from Cloverdale to Port Coquitlam because of the love and care they have shown they truly love them as their own. On Friday night we had to say goodbye to one of our dogs. I emailed the Dog Patch to let them know we would not need an upcoming booking for our little Bella. I received a heartfelt email back the next morning with a beautiful message. This is the place we always take our dog, Matcha, whenever we need to board her. The staff here are amazing and provide daily updates on how Matcha is doing and how she's getting along. They also make sure your dog is compatible with the other dogs, so they advise you to bring your dog in for a couple of hours prior to the boarding date, and that's free of charge! They even share updates on their Instagram page, where you can see photos, which I think is fantastic! The staff really know how to make you feel at ease. The best part is that they separate the big dogs from the small dogs, which is great! This is our go-to place for boarding our dog, and I highly recommend it! read more

Left my maltipoo last week for 6 nights. I got updates and pictures while I was away. The staff are so professional and he loved it so much he literally dragged his feet in the gravel not wanting to leave because he had so much fun. This is like a little dog resort where you can be worry free about your dogs care. aug 28: My 1.5 yr old husky, hana, is sociable, playful & a regular at local dog parks & 2 other daycare facilities. w/ a reputation for being friendly & mild mannered, hana's grown up with 2 cats & has a good handle on impulse control even with the thrill of being around small animals. I make a point of observing her online at her regular daycare & supervising her closely in outdoor off leash settings. hana's been to DP a handful of times & each visit has felt increasingly more unwelcoming & alienating. In April I got a call reporting 'inappropriate behaviour: blaming poor recall when playing in the middle of a large group of dogs.' Looking for a 3 wk boarding, I decided to give DP another try as their rates seemed reasonable & were an outdoor facility. Person taking my call was quick to say hana needs to be 'reassessed' first. 20 minutes into it, someone called to tell me hana's been put up in a room on her own & needs to be picked up immediately. their words: she's unable to 'make good decisions' or 'self regulate'. DP claimed hana was jumping on top of other dogs, something completely out of character for her. When asked for video footage of this, the owner said they didn't need to show me anything & were simply not the right fit for us. Voicing my concern to her was unpleasant and hopeless. Katherine, was rude, talked over & dismissed me throughout the entire interaction. Despite how frustrated and shaken up I felt, I barely got a single full sentence in without being interrupted. She threw around the f work a bunch of times and mocked me sharing my experience in talking with other owners & trainers, telling me to 'wait until I've had a dog daycare business for over 10 years'. A complaint to the better business bureau? she said to go right ahead and 'they'll just laugh me off'. Katherine claimed all dogs are good at recall + following commands & dogs that aren't, make it challenging for staff to control everyone in the pack & don't belong at DP. Sharing this w a dog trainer, she was surprised a daycare had turned hana away based solely on poor recall & w/o any signs of aggression, pointing out the DP has a reputation for being selective, thanks to a strong client base. Aside from the fact that DP's 'protocol' seems cruel to dogs, this explains treatment we got early on & the sense I got that their mind was already made up even before seeing hana for a reassessment. Everyone I spoke to could barely wait to get her out w/o allowing her to get reacquainted with the pack. It's a shame there are biz & individuals operating w an implicit yet real disregard for inclusiveness. And the nuanced but hurtful nature of discrimination is something I'm sure many in our diverse community can relate to without being able to always call it out. Today I felt singled out & incredibly sad for my dog. I was humiliated in front of others as Katherine screamed at me, going as far as shaming me for 'not giving my dog proper training.' sep 28: hana's staying at another facility now. I get several videos daily & can tell from her body language hana's relaxed and well adjusted in her environment. Staff are happy w her & confirm she's had no 'behavioural issues' - label DP repeatedly used to turn us away. The other daycare's also quite caring, unlike what Katherine suggested: that the other facilities must be lying to me, collecting my $, simply leaving hana up in a kennel all day long & telling me what I want to hear! Again, diff areas of concern w/ DP * horridly unprofessional & disrespectful approach * refusal to provide video proof of what they claimed was 'risky & inappropriate behaviour', yet using this as grounds to discriminate & refuse access & services * & worst of all holding dogs to human standards!! raising serious concerns for animal cruelty a busy pet owner may not always realize As for my experience w discrimination here that was harshly brushed off, I suppose speaking up is the only way to bring awareness to conscious & unconscious bias that continue to exist in communities we belong to - or don't. read more

AMAZZZING! I am sooo glad I found this place years ago! ALL the staff are wonderful! They are knowledgable and love all the dogs like they were their own! They truly have the dogs best interest in mind and always make you, the owner, feel welcome! My dog Max goes there every week, and boards there when we go out of town. I swear he loves them more then us!!! No... Im not jealous ;-) All I have to say is if you really want to see what a dog daycare should be like, visit the dog patch... Or at the very least... Dog patch rocks! I have used them for daycare and grooming. Grooming is great, competetively priced and they put the dogs with the the daycare dogs when they're done if you can't get them right away. Free social play time. Grooming is excellent and thorough. My dog always has fun at the daycare!!!! I had my dog there the other day and there was LOTS of water available for ALL dogs and no one was eating poop or what I "thought" was poop. I acutally have never even seen poop in the yard amazingly enough. The supervision provided is always perfect for the number of dogs. Love the "patch"!!!! read more

The Dog Patch is the ultimate one stop shop for your pet. Our pup has gone there since he was 8 weeks of age. He attends the daycare, he has boarded there on more than one occassion, he has been groomed there and recently he had training while he was boarding there. This morning I took my Cocker for grooming. It was my first time to ever use a groomer as until now I had never had a dog that required that skill. I made it clear that I wanted her to have a trim, back left as it was, feet cleaned up and face shaved. The only word that must have gotten to the groomer was "shaved" (groomer was late getting there). That is what I got back...a SHAVED cocker, in December. Tonight I am having a family dinner where some people are meeting her for the first time. I wanted her to be a cuter cutie patutie but not so much as she now look homely. read more

I wish I had something better to stay, because I trusted them with my two puppies for five days. While the girls seemed very nice and caring, their actions did not rise to the rate they charge. Going for my first visit with the DP I was given a price sheet with 30% off with two dogs sharing a pen ( even at the full discount this works out to be $63 per night for both) after the dogs had stayed, I was told that was actually only off the second dog bringing the total to $76 per night. Paying this rate I expected top performance care to go along with it. I have no trouble paying top dollar for someone to care for my babies while I am not able to, but getting them home sick over as simple of an instruction as No other food other than their own is not acceptable. To top it off, I paid the bill knowing that the girl I was dealing with was not a business decision maker, and any changes would have to come from her boss the owner, I requested the owner call me back to go over the bill. Two days later I had to call and hunt them down, and only got her daughter who told me that I was the first person to ever have such a mix up, and that I could have a couple of days day care to make up for it. While the gesture was nice, why would I take my puppies back to a place that could not properly look after them in the first place. And anyone who knows bull dog breeds, already knows that the Vet bills are high enough as it is, without incapable people not following he simplest of instructions. Long story short, you are paying for a service you are not receiving at your dogs expense, you are better off to hire a 12 year old neighbour to watch your puppy and pay them $350! read more
