This cute little shop was a stop on the wine walk yesterday. I tried the black licorice scotties, the dark chocolate espresso beans and the best cinnamon gummy bears I've ever had! They were pillowy soft and had an extra intense cinnamon flavor almost like hot tamales. I've purchased chocolate here before, so I knew that the dark chocolate espresso beans were going to be delicious. They did not disappoint. I liked that the scottie licorice was on the softer side. I do not enjoy mouth wrestling with my food. I'm glad they're a frequent stop on the wine walks. 10/10 would recommend! read more

We called the ice cream shop to see if we could come in and they were rude over the phone. When we got there, it took the one girl 15 minutes to help us. She didn't say a word to us, and then she rolled her eyes and felt burden when she did come over she asked what do you want in a very rude tone. We were sort of unsure and she rolled her eyes and says she has stuff to do and we need to know what we want. I would never come back to this ice cream shop again and it's so sad because they had good ice cream, but customer service was completely off. I've been coming in here for years (over 20) and in the last month and a half I came in twice and neither time did they have what I was looking for!!! simple things like chocolate covered raisins, not giant ones that are as big as malt balls....but normal chocolate covered raisins!! and the last time the spearmint leaves!! big deal they've been around for 100 years and they're not in a candy store!!! and the worst of all it is I've been paying over 3% charge for my credit card and I didn't know it!! if If I had I known I was being charged I wouldn't have come back!! these places make a fortune off of you and then they wanted to charge their customer for using the only way that we can pay for our goods these days!! this is what our lives are turning into...credit cards!!! You want to charge your customers over 3% for purchases from YOU that you already charge exhorbinant prices for.... $12 a pound for most... $9 a pound??!!! I'm checking out other candy stores that are just as good as this one and it's way way less for everything!!! OK I would rather drive all the way into Milwaukee and get my candy at a reasonable price then pay your prices!!!! and when I questioned the charge yesterday, the girl behind the counters said well we have signs all over ....no not ONCE have I seen a sign NOR TOLD!!! We stopped at the Candy Man business, on November 3rd, 2021, to purchase multiple pieces of their chocolate for people we love + for my daughter who loves chocolate. My 83 year old mom was selecting her own flavors & their employee was very patient/kind. We selected chocolates to give as a Christmas present for a dear friend, too. She was super excited to receive their chocolates along with other treats we purchased from other West Bend businesses. I grew up in West Bend, & moved upon graduating from Culinary School/ & my marriage. This business is truly an AMAZING addition, that wasn't present when I lived here. The West Bend community is EXTREMELY LUCKY to have this high quality candy business in their downtown area offering these multiple high quality sweet treats. We live near our State Capital, where we frequently purchase Chocolates from an AWARD WINNING CHOCOLATIER, on East Washington Avenue, called "Cocovaa". Candy Man offers more flavors, is open more hours, & they are providing treats at the high level, as "Cocovaa", which is extremely impressive to have achieved. The residents of West Bend, Wisconsin are very fortunate to be blessed by having the Candy Man business so accessible to fulfill their sweet tooth's & chocolate cravings minutes from their homes. When I was a child growing up in West Bend, there were not as many businesses available to fulfill the needs of a family that my parents had to drive to Milwaukee. I have many fond memories from my childhood because of the wonderful residents of West Bend, Wisconsin, who work extremely hard everyday to making this community beautiful. Recently, I have found historical books that provides photographs & the history of West Bend that is interesting to see/read about the changes over the years. Downtown WEST BEND is the most IMPRESSIVE & AMAZING BUILDINGS that no other community has built. As we arrived to downtown, residents were working hard putting up their Christmas Tree/holiday decor, which was so awesomely beautiful. . We stopped at LAUGHING MOUNTAIN GOURMET POPCORN STORE, too, just a few steps away, & are as impressed by their products finding their popcorn being fluffier popcorn & as of high quality, as the Candy Man's merchandise. Bravo to the residents of WEST BEND WISCONSIN. Your hard work has made this community the BEST HOMETOWN IN WISCONSIN TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN & having businesses providing many high quality products so accessible to fulfill their needs, needs to be acknowledged, praised & supported because I have lived in many other cities in Wisconsin, raising my daughter, that don't provide this quality of products to families. As a result, my daughter didn't experience all of the wonderful places, nor fond memories or activities that I had, as a child, which is why I brought her & my mom back to West Bend to show her all of the AWESOME PLACES I often speak of. I wanted to make several purchases of treats for those we love to brighten their day with a surprise during this Covid Pandemic & ensure these businesses financially survive the financial hardships they have encountered from this epidemic. No other business have these products that are minutes from your homes= I am envious wishing I never moved away from West Bend not realizing how my decision to marry would keep me away from the most beautiful place to live in Wisconsin unaware other communities didn't have what I loved. I have spent my life missing everything about West Bend, Wisconsin. The trips back to this area have been very fun, but I always am sad leaving & wishing I could return, forever. Not angel food cake, but angel food candy, sort of a caramel crunchy inside covered in dark chocolate in large chunks. Delicious! Since moving to Chicago, it has been a long time since I had this Christmastime delight . . .until I wandered into the Candyman in downtown West Bend. Exactly what a locally owned candy store should be. This place had everything, great candy, friendly staff, and a scenic location. The owner was an extremely kind man that you could tell loves what he does. He spent some time with my friancee and I, and showed us a little of everything they do. He let us try some of their more specialized candy including their Angel Food. If you haven't had it, you need to try it, that stuff is incredible. It's got all the flavor of a chocolate caramel treat, but it's crisp and doesn't feel like you're eating a block of sugar. They had everything you could want, gummies, truffles, chocolate pretzels, and every combination of chocolate nuts caramel raisin oreo etc that I could think of. The woman working there was pretty unfriendly and acted as if I had interrupted her when I asked for help. The candy selection is unimpressive, and it appears that everything comes to them prepackaged and they don't make anything themselves. I got a few truffles and fancy chocolates, but they were only ok and very overpriced. I could find most of that stuff in a big box store. read more

This is a great little candy shop. I tried some of their truffles, and they were really good. The butter pecan is the best I've tried to date. The staff is friendly. I have been going to this confectionary for 30+ years and every time I go there I feel like I've walked into Willy Wonka's factory. The enchanted aromatic assault on my senses leads directly to my hand somehow opening my wallet and throwing money at the always pleasant staff member across the counter. The crown jewel of these experiences are always the chocolate covered peanuts...oh god, those peanuts. As the double dipped chocolate peanuts dissolve in my mouth, so do all the worries of the world dissolve temporarily from my mind. It is a true experience, not simply a high calorie confection.
