A great place to stop along the road if you've got wiggly kids (or wiggly adults) who need to get out of the car for a bit! I spied the goofy face on the side of the barn from the freeway and am a sucker for toys, so we detoured to take a peek. I really liked the rustic interior; it gave it some charm that not a lot of toy stores necessarily have. The inside wasn't too overwhelming or overstimulating, and there was a variety of items available for sale, most notably: toddler toys, puzzles and games, playmobile, science/outdoor stuff, plushies, and candy. The selection wasn't overly abundant, and I think they could probably do more with their square footage, if they wanted to. I thought it was cute they had a little nook with a table and chairs and a "game of the week" sort of set up so you could try it out if you wanted. The employee working there was friendly and sweet. I got a small plush Douglas brand fox (because I collect fox plushies and I didn't have that particular design yet). In the basement they apparently sell bait and tackle, which is sorta hilarious. As it was winter when we stopped in, the ice cream attachment was not selling. Rats! Maybe next time we head to WI? read more

Like everyone else, I have driven by this place hundreds of times on the highway while heading somewhere else. I was in Delafield and realized I needed a couple more small holiday gifts, so I finally decided to stop in. I'm really glad that I did. There was much more there than I expected. Inside, there are rooms filled with all kinds of games and toys. The selection ranges from board games to action figures and everything in between. There truly is something for just about every age and interest. If you are in the mood for something to eat, or want to buy a tasty gift, they also have a case full of different confections. I was so happy to discover this toy store while driving by on the highway! We ended up stopping to check it out and I am so glad we did. We would always come back here in search of new toys. I was spectacle the prices may be hiring than other stores but I was pleasantly surprised that everything was reasonably priced. My son and I spent close to a hour roaming around before our purchase. We've been wanting to stop at the yellow smiley barn for years. It's close to my son's birthday, so we stopped on our way to Madison. It's really easy to get on/off 94 & conveniently located by lots of other shopping & food options. The store barn is a kid's dream with so many different options of play, from outdoor, dress up, dice, board games, build, puzzles, and more. Don't forget the chocolate, fudge & candy to make your experience complete. They are two levels. Upstairs is mostly Playmobil & you can have a hands on experience. There is a little Lego corner displaying dream sets, too. The barn does price match on Playmobil sets. We were looking for a new game & asked the nice gentleman for new ideas & trends. Maybe the owner? He was very nice & helpful. We ended up purchasing the happy salmon game, which is a family fun game. Even if you're not in the market for a new game, check out the cute ambiance. We visited the Smiley Barn for its cute look outside. We weren't sure of what to expect, but we looooved it! It's a toy store like I've never seen them in Wisconsin. What a nice toy store. Loads of toys, games, and books for all ages. There is a candy corner too. Only complaint is the candy corner could have more brands and unusual flavors. Love this place!!! I've met the owner a couple times while shopping here.... very nice people. I'm glad to see they're doing well after a year in business. Staff is nice, and the place looks great. I have been here with my boys probably 5 or 6 times (we live in Delafield) and they always have tons of samples and stuff out to keep them busy. great place, and a fantastic place to shop for a gift before heading to a party ... can't recommend them more highly. read more

This is a one stop shop for so many different and unique toys. Even my teenage kids found items they enjoyed. We did end up purchasing a gum ball stress ball. I that The Smiley Barn actually received it's smile back after so many years. read more

We discovered this store about a year ago and my kids love picking out toys here. I love it too, because there is a nice variety of quality toys for all ages that goes beyond your typical big box store selection. The playmobil play area upstairs is a hit too. read more

An independent store such as this is exactly the type of business that one hopes will succeed in the era of big box and bigger Amazon and so it was with great anticipatory delight that we pulled into the parking lot of The Smiley Barn. I wish I could put five stars and happy huzzahs all over the recap but it didn't play out that way. The selection of toys seemed okay, a little deeper than some stores and that was appealing. It was less encouraging, though, to discover that folks working there didn't seem as interested in engaging with customers as they did with each other. It's fine that there is camaraderie among them but not to the point that it prevents them from connecting with and helping shoppers. It kinda felt like we were intruders rather than customers which is a little weird. Next time we're in the area it might be worth a revisit to see if the our first experience was just happenstance. I hope that's the case but first impressions really do matter. read more
