Date of visit: July 28, 2025 I stopped in here as I am leading an effort to find local vendors that we can order from as part of a holiday gift effort for some of our customers. I perused the store and selected brittle, taffy, and chocolates as part of a taste testing for the whole team to determine which items were the best to consider as gifts for our customers. Staff was friendly and accomodating, and even offered me a sample after I completed my purchase. Oddly, despite spending about $70 and explaining what I was doing with my purchases, I didn't get a receipt. I dropped an email to the store and received a quick reply and was provided with a picture of the receipt that was quite small and blurry, though thankfully our AP department didn't question it too much and I still got reimbursed for the purchase! And if you were wondering, the taffy was surprisingly good, but wasn't labeled on the package in terms of what flavors were in each bag, so that was a big turn off for our taste testers. The chocolates were a big hit and will be a finalist for our customer gifts! read more

We love to check out boutique confectionaries. Chocolates can be a tricky business, so finding one that checks all the boxes is an amazing experience. First time stopping in here. I read about Burke moving in to this Whitefish Bay location, so I wanted to give them a try. I really wanted to give them the highest rating, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Super cute shop. Has a nice old time feel to it. Walking in to the place, you find a large selection of many different confections. The "factory" is at their other location downtown Milwaukee. Got greeted by two friendly staff members. Very helpful at explaining the different items and offered to allow me to sample (I did have one piece of the peanut butter crunch). You can either get individual items from the case, or there are pre-packed items on the other walls. I got a mix of different items. Ones that I have found can be a big tricky to make. Fairy Food, Marshmallow, and Caramel. And to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Summer can be a hard to time to make/keep sponge candy (fairy food), and some places don't even make it this time of year because the humidity can make it sticky. Marshmallow has a short shelf life and can get tough. This was exactly my experience with these two items. The chocolate itself was very good. And the presentation was also very impressive wit the other items. They did wrap up everything in attractive cellophane bags with ribbon, and placed in a gift bag with a custom ribbon. Perfect for gift giving. So overall a good (but not great experience). I would stop back again, but keep away from some of the humidity sensitive items. read more

This review is for the storefront, which is technically in Whitefish Bay, WI. We stopped by both their manufacturing facility and the storefront this past week when I was in town attending the Retail Confectioners International conference. The storefront is very cute. The proprietress gave us samples of their crunchy peanut butter truffles and also their chocolate-covered toffees, and I ended up purchasing a few things: some sea salt truffles from their $1 bin in the front; their s'mores, for $5; and two truffles, a tiramisu one and a mint meltaway. Everything was delicious. They also do a great presentation: you get one gift bag with tissue paper for what you buy, and I believe you can buy extra bags if needed, too. I gave my dad the s'mores today for Father's Day and we split it with my mom, and everyone liked it. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. read more

Burke candy is tremendously incredible. I mistakenly went to the factory rather than the Whitefish Bay store but it was a chocolate mecca. I chose a great variety ( even some non-chocolate from my younger days) that I begrudgingly shared. Easter may bring more goodies. read more

Be sure to ask if what you are buying is made by Burke, because some of their candies are not, which made me feel betrayed because they portray themselves as family owned, local, and list their ingredients. Why would they stoop to putting their label on something that they didn't make? I think we know the answer. So much for supporting local small business. read more

I'm a chocoholic, and anyone who is needs to visit Burke! While taking a shortcut home, I happened by Burke Candy, which is an unglamorous industrial area. I checked the website and saw they are open during the week until 4:30, so not always easy to get to. Some time off this week provided the opportunity to go and my expectations were low, mostly because of the location and that I hadn't heard of them before. Walking in, however, I was transported to a blissful land of chocolate. Eat your heart out Willy Wonka. Beautiful, artistic and enticing chocolate treats were everywhere and Julia, one of the owners, shared her passion. So many options, and everything I tried was chocolate perfection. The toffees are a great place to start, especially the English Toffee. Make a point to discover this hidden gem. It's special and a chocolate oasis. We received a Mother's Day chocolate kit for my kids to build a gift for their mother, it was awesome! My kids thoroughly enjoyed building the kit and maybe eating it as well. Holy guacamole, Batman. I have lived in Milwaukee for over 30 years, and never knew about this place until I was browsing Yelp one day. After reading the reviews and being a self proclaimed chocolate expert, I had to check it out. First off, diamond in the rough is almost a literal description of this place. While it is obviously not a literal diamond, it is an amazing place. It is down a random side road in a commercial district. You would NEVER know there is an amazing candy store on this street without the address. You park and get to the door, still wondering what you are about to experience. Once you go in, the shop area is tiny. Probably less than 10x10 of shopping area, check out, and standing room. AWESOME. For the locals, you know when you walk through Old Milwaukee section in the museum? This is a modern form of one of those shops. A tiny place hand making delicious candy daily, and selling them with a smile and a friendly word. It feels like you are walking into a late 18th century shop where the owners make the candy, sell it, and have a relationship with the customers. Incredible. After sampling some toffee, I went for a mix of toffee and caramel. I would say they were both some of the best candies I have had. The prices were high enough to know you are buying quality, but not outrageous. The shocker of the experience for me was when the lady got out her iPad and square to take my payment. I love seeing technology working for small business. When she asked me how I came across her store, and I told her yelp, a smile came across her face. We are doing some good for our community! Now go try some incredible treats and leave with a happy sweet tooth. Don't forget to check in and notice the yelp sticker on the door on your way into paradise. read more

I've ordered from Burke's for several years and it is been a wonderful experience. All the chocolates are tasty, especially love the Flying T's. In addition, the Flying T's come with many different options to choose from ---- dark or milk chocolate, plus an array of nuts, as well. The office I work at orders Grandmother Reilly's Chocolates from Burke Candy often. I'm a sucker for their English Toffee and Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. Their chocolate and caramel always tastes so fresh (if you've ever eaten a surprisingly stale chocolate bar, whether from a vending machine or a commercialized candy shop, then you know how important this is), and I love that the business is family owned and operated. I may be biased, but chocolate is the best sweet that exists. Forget vanilla, and say bye bye to cherry--chocolate is where it's at. Whenever I hear that a batch of Burke's toffee or caramels has made its way into my vicinity, I jump at the chance to be the first one to open the bag and take in the sweet smell and dig right in! I love dark chocolate and milk chocolate the same, but Burke's makes it hard to choose, so I just try them all! I've had most of their toffee flavors, and their dark/milk salted caramels which are huge. You feel like you've won the lottery when you've had one of these. I'm serious. DE-LECT-TABLE! I think it's universal to have toffee in clear packaging and caramels in a box of sorts. With the toffee, you can see the layers of ingredients and with the box, it's like opening up the best Christmas present ever! I didn't know this place existed when I lived in Milwaukee, but that's probably for the best because I would have been broke after buying so much candy. Go into the store and check it out. Probably the cutest neighborhod candy manuacturer I've been to. Granted its small, but what they put out in chocolate is outstanding!!. My mom loves chocolate, so I decided to buy some for her for her birthday. The selection of chocolates,from milk, dark, and white as well as various gift boxes, made the process of choosing hard, but fun! This is, hands down, the best candy I've ever had. The caramels and the toffee are my favorite sweet treats to get at Burke candy. The cute shop is attached to the factory so everything is as fresh as you can get and the service is outstanding! I can't say enough about this place--it's absolutely wonderful! Julia is the ultimate professional and is warm and gracious in her welcome. She was extra kind and solicitous to my coughing(hopefully one day) daughter-in-law the first time we shopped there, and I will always remember that kindness. Burke's chocolate is incredibly delicious, especially their sea-salt caramels and English toffee. The packaging makes it perfect for gifts too. My only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. I received a box of assorted chocolates and turtles from a friend for valentines day/ my birthday. I literally cannot tell you which is my favorite. The chocolate melts in your mouth and the salted caramels are to die for!! So much better than the commercial mass produced chocolates. I would order these again for any event or celebration. Burke Candy was recommended by another chocolate company as the place to go for truffles. We ordered 80 sets of two truffles each for a celebration dinner we held in Milwaukee.
