I learned about chocolate somalier from an online event. I never would have thought of going to a specialty chocolate house before this. But now I definitely will! Everything i tasted was beyond amazing. The selections that the proprietor made for us gave us a whole spectrum of flavors to experience. One can buy a wide variety of chocolate (cheap to semi fancy) in a lot of places. But it adds a lot to have the level of curating and expertise to go with the products. I will definitely come into the store to take advantage of their knowledge to go with my special treats.

I got to try some of the chocolate from this wonderful little shop as part of Yelp MKE's Be my valentine workshop. Very good selection of chocolates, definitely ask Karen (the owner) for her recommendations. She is very knowledgeable about the origins of chocolate, how its processed and how the supply chain works. Try the nibs, those were my favorite!! Just don't ask Karen about Ruby Chocolate

This is an amazing little shop. Karen, the owner, is so passionate about her business, and what a delicious business it is! I purchased a small bag of Snacking Cacao (needs to be sold in MUCH bigger bags!) and was delighted by the blend of bitter cacao and salty Himalayan pink sea salt. The sweet and salty was delicious and I couldn't help but polish off the whole bag in one sitting. I also purchased some of her self-proclaimed best seller, the truffles. I have somehow managed to just have one (I bought a box for a gift and a single for myself, we'll see if I need to get a different gift). Looking forward to trying more of her delicacies!

They were all a similar quality, maybe a half step above something like a gold brick egg or the unbranded chocolates you get on easter or valentines day. Each and every one of their chocolates was made out of an identically flavored, identically consistent hard chocolate coating. The "coconut clusters" were literally just the same exact chocolate used for coatings, with a small amount of shredded coconut mixed in, in a solid glob that you have to gnaw on. I truly believe I could make a better coconut cluster at home in my kitchen right now with no experience. No mind was paid to ratios: the delicate honeycomb candy and whipped vanilla candy had such a thick hard chocolate coating on it that when you bit into it all you could taste was the chocolate and not the filling. The truffles... didn't resemble a truffle in anything but appearance. They were some type of fudge (again, think unbranded valentines day box) covered in the same super duper hard and thick chocolate coating. They were actually hard to eat. The ubiquitous chocolate was overly sweet and had nothing interesting about it. If I'm going to have too-sweet chocolate I prefer something like a hersheys bar. The only items I thought even had an appropriate filling to coating ratio, density, and flavor matchup was the jelly candy and toffee. The toffee was just identical to a heath bar, but I do like heath bars! The only compliment I have for this place is it's relatively cheap and would delight a child who could pick out a variety of things to try. I guess if you're looking for a local alternative to stuff stockings and easter baskets with, this would be a good idea. Due to its placement in the market, the typical chocolatier display, and the individually priced pieces of chocolate, I assumed this would be an artisanal product and was disappointed.

Chocolate lovers: I highly recommend stopping at Burke Candy & Ingredients! I've walked past this…read morebusiness for years and, somehow, never stopped in until last week, when I decided to pop in on a whim. Boy, am I glad I did! As a serious chocolate lover, I was immediately in heaven. I may have gotten a little carried away and left with several truffles in hand... and then proceeded to eat every single one of them in one sitting. Maybe that's not everyone's cup of tea, but honestly? I had absolutely no regrets. The chocolate was that good! I can't believe it took me so many years to finally walk through the door, but now that I have, I already know I'll be back. This is exactly the kind of local gem that deserves to be discovered and enjoyed. I can't wait to bring my mom here when she visits! If you love chocolate, truffles, or simply treating yourself to something delicious, do yourself a favor and stop in. You might just leave with several treats too... whether they make it home is another question.

Date of visit: July 28, 2025…read more I stopped in here as I am leading an effort to find local vendors that we can order from as part of a holiday gift effort for some of our customers. I perused the store and selected brittle, taffy, and chocolates as part of a taste testing for the whole team to determine which items were the best to consider as gifts for our customers. Staff was friendly and accomodating, and even offered me a sample after I completed my purchase. Oddly, despite spending about $70 and explaining what I was doing with my purchases, I didn't get a receipt. I dropped an email to the store and received a quick reply and was provided with a picture of the receipt that was quite small and blurry, though thankfully our AP department didn't question it too much and I still got reimbursed for the purchase! And if you were wondering, the taffy was surprisingly good, but wasn't labeled on the package in terms of what flavors were in each bag, so that was a big turn off for our taste testers. The chocolates were a big hit and will be a finalist for our customer gifts!

If you're interested in my experience, keep reading. I arrived today 9/23/26 @ around 11am to have a meeting with a United States Navy Sailor in uniform. It was 3 of us at a table. Soon after we all arrived I got up from our chosen table to order at the counter. The young female barista was making a drink and Colin saw me. Eventually I went to go sit back down because I assumed they were busy. 15 minutes later Colin came over to our table, left a menu and muttered something. Soon after that, he came back again in the middle of our meeting and muttered something again. He repeated in a very agitated tone, "You guys can hang out but you have to order something". Two of us told him we tried to order earlier, to which he replied something along the lines of "well we're wide open now". I had genuinely never seen or heard a barista act this way. I thought he's just having a bad day from the way he's walking around the shop, so I told him I'd go right up to order. Later, Colin generously brought over my toast and I said "thank you so much" and "thank you" as he tossed my napkins on the table. He did all of this in silence. Soon after, he put up a hand written sign on the door that said "We close at 1". An odd experience, to say the least
