Stopped in a few weeks ago and got a donut, cinnamon roll, snickerdoodle cookie, and whoopie pie. Paid around $20-25 and walked out with a decent amount of speciality sweets. Loved the cinnamon roll and amazed it is free of all the common allergens besides nuts. Would definitely buy again. Snickerdoodle cookie was quite good, nice flavor and crispy. I didn't care for the donut, I forget the flavor but the texture was a bit mushy and I prefer more of the light airy fried donuts. If you like cake donuts that tend to be a bit heavier you'd probably like them. I also didn't love the whoopie pie. I believe I got a cherry chocolate one and the texture was nice but not sweet enough for my liking. Will definitely return to try other things and am grateful for a bakery where I can get dairy free/gluten free items. read more

We picked this bakery to visit because they make everything without grain, dairy, soy, gluten, eggs, cane sugar, oils, or yeast. What else is left? We had to find out. I can tell you that the pizza muffin is made with Tiger Flour and Buckwheat in the base and includes sun-dried tomatoes, pepperoncini, artichokes and other tasty items. It was delicious, and the Apple Bar was amazing! The carrot cake muffin also exceeded my expectations. I was concerned about the toffee frosting, but the flavor combo seemed to work, although my taste buds tasted peanut butter moreso than toffee. Either way, it was solid! I don't like the texture of coconut flakes, so I didn't try thst bar, but my friend liked it. I'm giving 5 stars because it can't be easy to make baked goods taste good without the ingredients that make them less healthy, but Blooming Lotus figured it out! I just love the biscuits! As a former gluten lover, their biscuits and breads are so satisfying! Oh and the brownies are to die for! Yum!

They have the best cinnamon roll that I have tried so far. I read all the reviews online before going so I kind of knew what I would get. But when I actually stood in front of the display case, I still felt so tough to make a choice! They didn't have the apricots and fig scone which seems to be very popular among customers who have been there and reviewed, nor anything related to pumpkin today. So I felt relieved that two candidates were already automatically eliminated lol. The lady behind the case is very friendly and patient. I decided to get the Hippie Scone and the cinnamon roll. They are both served warm and have a special vegan-type thick yet soft texture, not over sweet flavors and lots of natural toppings. The Cinnamon Roll is a bomb with creamy nutty fillings. Every bite was delightful to me. The Hippie Scone is less sweet than the cinnamon roll, but has a really nice hint of dark chocolate flavor. My car smelt so good after I opened the plastic box, and I finished the two even before I started my car! Can't wait to try other things here! read more

The lady at the counter was so sweet and welcoming. I was very excited to try a GF/DF bakery in Milwaukee. Rishi tea was the main event! It was so good. They had some seating available but I was a bit concerned about restaurant not letting customers use their restroom. I'm so glad we drove and not walked there!! They have a great variety. The prices can be a bit steep which is the only drawback here. I personally don't mind if products use processed sugar as long as it's vegan, but I'm sure it's important to some! That being said everything we got was really nice! The apple pie bar was transcedant and so was the turtle brownie, both of which I'm craving. I also got a cinnamon bun that was ok but I think I'm learning I'm more of a "it has to be warm and absolutely covered in icing" cinnamon bun person. it took around $16~ for 3 items, which surprised me as they don't have price tags on the case itself and I felt bad asking. I guess they had a sign with prices but looking back and forth and trying to read the lettering is a pain. Obviously I'm sure they can't lower their prices which i respect, but perhaps they could put price tags in the display case to make things a bit easier on everyone. Located off North Ave., Blooming Lotus Bakery is a grain-free, dairy free, processed sugar-free, egg-free, and fresh bakery! I only know this because I was cheerfully greeted with this introduction upon arriving! Which is impressive on paper, but equally impressive upon hearing and seeing. The atmosphere matched the prompt customer service with an inviting welcome! There were about three employees working in this snug "cafe". They all looked pretty comfortable and happy to be at work. A great indication of the company itself. I was told by an employee that all that is offered for the day is in the food display, and that I would have better luck looking in the food display below than the posted menu above head. There were quite a range of scones, muffins, some cupcakes, cookies, pie (sold full or by slice), "no rye" rye chips, breads, etc. Coffee/ tea offered hot or iced. All displayed with appeal! I chose the lemon poppy seed muffin and potato leek soup (~$6.50). I chose to get my food to go, even though there was plenty of seating there. As for the food, the muffin was semi- moist and firm/thick! It was smaller and great for a snack! The soup was wholesome and fresh tasting. Savory, fresh smell! I added hot sauce for an extra oomph! All in all, I feel satisfied with my first experience at this bakery! I will be returning for the great customer service, great atmosphere, and fresh bakery!! I was so disappointed when I missed the chance to try out Love Handles (previously occupied by). Don't make my same mistake with not trying out Blooming Lotus Bakery! They offer a wide variety of ever changing menu items including donuts, muffins, scones, brownies, lemon bars, cookies and more. I tried the salted caramel carrot cupcake and a cinnamon bun. Both had great flavor, but could have been more moist. The frosting on the cupcake was very thick and had such a great rich flavor. My boyfriend and I went here for an after-lunch snack. He chose a massive cherry danish, and I went with the cashew bar after the lady told me it was the most popular item they sold. Then, while we were paying for our snacks we told her we'd like them to go, and she chuckled and said they would even leave the building. She was absolutely right. We sat down for a little bite before we walked home, and they were divine. They were neither too sweet, nor too "healthy" tasting. I recently completed the Whole30 and was looking for a place where I could get something sweet but not filled with processed sugar or loaded with gluten and dairy. Not always an easy thing to do! Blooming Lotus did not disappoint! I got an apricot fig scone (warmed up) and it was fantastic!! Perfect amount of sweetness, soft and moist. Wow wow wow! I appreciate having this kind of bakery so close to home and will definitely be back for a cupcake (and a cookie, and a cinnamon roll, and a truffle...). Yes, this one does taste slightly healthier but to not have an insanely greasy slice is appreciated by me. It's pre baked so you can throw on your favorite ingredients and be eating in no time. Also, you can pop it in the freezer if you aren't able to use it within the week. Tastes just as good defrosted. I personally love that they use natural sweeteners like dates or honey in their products. I'm a fan of their muffins. Irish soda bread biscuits are a great addition to soup. They were doing pickups only, so I gave them a call and the sweet gal who answered walked me through all their breakfast options. I've been a customer since they opened several years ago and am amazed by the creative "dupes" they've made for common snacks and desserts. Their Lotus Cookies are like soft, freshly baked Oreos. Their Kick-Ass Krunch reminds me of Gardetto's. Their Pocket Pies are like Pop-Tarts, but without the sugar crash afterward! My new favorite item on their menu is their "ice cream" pie. I've tried cookie dough and pumpkin and both are fantastic. Also, I have to give a huge shout-out to the staff who are so friendly and accommodating! I walked past this bakery with amazing looking stuff in the case and didn't pay too much attention to the signage - sugar free, gluten free, dairy free, etc. I grabbed a few cupcakes for the family and they did not go over so well. Not sure what the frosting was actually made out of, but I was not a fan either. The cake itself was decent for no sugar, no gluten, no nothing. By far the best GF bakery I've ever been too and I'm visiting from a big eclectic city that has great food. But nothing like the quality at Blooming. And their customer was bar none, the attention to detail and the cleanliness makes you feel at home. These folks are so great and nice that after I had bought and tasted pretty much one of everything I had to go back to the cashier and tell her what an amazing establishment they had and thanked them once again cause nothing bloated me or got me even slightly sick. Well right after here, I went to Whole Foods and as I was walking back to my car I walked passed the bakery and one of the owners, Lawrence, saw me and ran out to greet me. Conveniently located in Love Handle's old location, kitty-corner to Whole Foods, Blooming Lotus offers scones, muffins, energy cookies, and even truffles for those of us out there who have dietary restrictions or are health conscious. Additionally, they serve coffee (hot/iced), tea (hot/iced), and fresh-squeezed lemonade (love). I tried one of their truffles, and it was delicious. The energy cookie I tried was good as well -- although I tend to like mine sweeter. :) I took home the sweet potato and carrot muffins, so I'll have to fill you all in on those once I've tried one. I'm looking forward to see how this business will grow, since it's only been open for two weeks. But I have to say, I am really impressed with how put-together Blooming Lotus seems even though it's a brand new operation. My partner and I had been looking for a bakery since we moved to Milwaukee. Luckily at work I had the opportunity to meet the bakery owner, Lars, who asked if I would come and try out his offerings. Since I'm trying to live a better life and be great, I decided trying a grain free, egg free, processed sugar free, dairy free bakery elf be worth a try. My logic was, if it tasted good enough for then to decide to open a bakery, it had to be at least palatable. Glad to say it's more than palatable. I've been back twice since my first visit and everything I've tried thus far has not only been a great "version" of a chocolate brownie but simply great in itself. You know, there are brownies and then there are good brownies...well these are def some good brownies. Everything is super moist, baked fresh and has great flavor. As you can imagine, I really like the chocolate brownie. I also like the apple streusel muffin and the cashew truffle. Oh and the honey cashew cookie and oatmeal cookies are delish. Try anything! You can buy them in the case fresh or pick up bulk in freezer. Best tip is to let them sit out and warm up or quick 15 sec in microwave to soften them up for best texture and flavor.
