Quite possibly my favorite dive bar in all of Denver. I live down the street so it's a good spot for me to grab a quick beer, cheap tasty burger, or watch the game (I don't have cable). Lots of interesting types that hang out here. It gets quite crowded, even on weeknights. It's a great place to chill, relax, play pool or darts. And for some odd reason I enjoy the stale beer/mildewy basement smell of the place. It reminds of what a real bar should smell like! read more

This is very much a small sports bar. They had a shuffle board and fooseball. I didn't end up playing. Drinks were cheap but the bar tap selection was pretty small. I really think my review is rated low because the person I was with was such a buzzkill. I would't be excited to go back but I would be willing to try it out again. read more

Cool little neighborhood dive where the bartender will learn your name quick. We were recommended to try root beer beer, which is now our favorite thing! Its a relaxed place where you can hang out, watch a game, play a game, or chat with strangers- all good things. read more

Super dive bar that has cheap fireball shots on Friday nights, cheap drinks and specials every night of the week. This place is small, dirty and divey and I personally had a blast. The bartenders here took care of our large group and we occupied some of the only tables in the place for nearly the entire night. For some reason, my boyfriend and I decided that we wanted to go to a dive bar on Valentine's Day. Instead of a fancy, overpriced dinner, we were craving cheap, greasy bar food, drinks, and a fun local crowd. I spent a good few hours looking up various places near to us, and Candlelight had by far the most positive reviews. We took a chance and went there last night (a Sunday) around 6pm. The outside of the bar is cool, though the doorway is kind of sketch. We entered and quickly found an open table. The crowd was pretty good for so early, but it wasn't overwhelming. Our beers were cold and cheap, exactly what we wanting. We then ordered the Jalapeno Cream Cheese Burgers and fries, which were fantastic (and only $5 per burger and $2 for the fries, which were plenty to share). We enjoyed the rest of the evening and played pool. The bar was exactly what we wanted-- casual, relaxed, and cheap. We're going again! read more

I like this bar when I'm down in the baker/washpark area. It's simple, the bartenders are good people and most generally the jukebox and pool table are DU-Alum frat boy-ish free. We watched the winter olympics here a few years back and it was great since they have several HUGE TVs located around the bar. However, you wouldn't catch me here on the weekend since it gets pretty packed and suddenly the jukebox is playing whatever garbage is popular on KYGO or Alice. When I worked close to this place I really enjoyed going here after 8 during the week - it was mellow, the crowd was a nice collection of people and the jukebox was available for use. Also the drinks are well priced. The food is typical bar food, but if your'e hungry or need something to munch on while you drink it is perfect. I'd prefer not to use the bathroom, but that's really my only complaint. read more

Pretty dang good for a dive bar. On my ongoing winter tour of classic Denver dives, this one delivered, including the drunk creepy guy lurking around. We started during happy hour and vodka drinks were $2.75. I was upset to learn that happy hour had ended but quickly turned around when I found out the regular price was $3.75. Played some shuffle board even though the table was clearly slanted, but hey, it's what I expected and I had a good time! read more

Great dive bar. Doesn't usually get busy on the weekdays until 9:30ish. One of the major downsides is that it can get busy & fast. The darts & pool tables can have a normal turnover, but there is Jenga to keep you occupied while waiting. Overall, pretty fun bar. read more

My go to place for a beer and cheeseburger. Lots of regulars but still a friendly place to hang no matter your status. Only negative comment was that one of the bartenders closed out my tab without asking because she was leaving for the night - I am happy to close out my tab in these situations but she should have asked how I wanted to pay before just running my card. read more

I am not normally a Yelp poster however I just had to say something about their burgers. It doesn't look like they do anything special but these greasy burgers are phenomenal. I work down the street and I find myself ordering a cheeseburger(or a double) 5 or 6 times a month. I am fairly certain they do not use premade patties as the size is inconsistent and perhaps that is the reason they are so good. They come with a little bowl of pickles, Jalapenos, and onions but honestly the burger itself has so much flavor you do not need the toppings. You also cannot beat the price. read more

I'm visiting from Las Vegas and came here last time I came out here 2 years ago. I Wanted to go to a local dive so had a bunch of friends out here meet up with me here. When they were carding at the door they wouldn't allow me in because I had a vertical ID. I understand that May be the case for Colorado ID's but I am out of state and got my ID a day before my 21st birthday 2 years ago. The gentleman at the door wouldn't even look at the date, even tho I had my Health Card, TAM card, student ID and many other cards on me matching my identity. What they taught us in my alcohol awareness class ( because I am a bartender) you can not discriminate because an ID is vertical. I will never go there again even when my ID expires and is horizontal. read more

I like the "Scandalfight." If ya go there...the name fits. Especially at night. I am in my 40s so I pretty much avoid the nites after 8 or 9pm anymore. Which is great cuz I don't hafta wait for the loo OR a cocktail, I don't get smashed into a corner, Ican get a seat at the bar and BS with the nice gals workin the daytime. I really like this bar. It has excellent service and great food. The burgers are excellent and cheap. It's a no frills type of place and they even have breaded pork tenderloins. The bar is also a good spot for darts with friends. A gem of a dive bar. read more
