Excellent experience today! Wonderful to see a corporate citizen upholding the mask mandate. You have a "medical exemption"? Then order online for curbside pickup and you can stay in your car and never have to put on a mask. Leave the shopping for the rest of the law-abiding shoppers. If you can't take the mask that's offered and put it on for the two minutes it would take to check out your garbage can, lady, and have a fit about it, you shouldn't be out in society. I went to price match a coffee maker that was on sale at London Drugs next door. After a 15 minutes "serious investigation" to see if the product was the same the manager told me they would not honour the price match as it was below their cost. Had windshield wipers replaced, when i got the car back the rear one was hanging on like a dead leaf. it was working when I took it in but no one owned up to the damage. Have been to many stores for hardware, housewares and gardening. Canadian Tire in Nanaimo has great customer service and I see management on the floor frequently. The auto shop is quiick and courteous. And prices are very competitive. Smile and they help you. read more

One of the best selections of plants I have seen on The Island. I picked up a Raphidophora Tetrasperma for 18 dollars today. It's a bit more then I would have liked to pay, but it's not a super common plant so I don't mind! Most of the other plants are priced reasonably! My brother and his friend were shopping there and looking at wallets, they were then accused of stealing wallets. They emptied their pockets and nothing was found (obviously because they didn't steal) the employee dressed in plain clothes started to berayed my brother and his friend, get in my brother's face, close up and refused to give them his name. My brother asks other employees what his name is and they all stood there like deer in headlights. This Canadian tire is disgusting and that employee abused the little power he has. I do not recommend shopping here. This employee needs to be fired. I will continue to post this review every chance I get. DON'T take your vehicle to the NANAIMO Canadian Tire for service!!! Drive or get towed to another Canadian Tire. The service Manager Nigel is rude and condescending even when you bring your car back to fix a problem that they caused. I brought my car in to the Nanaimo Canadian Tire because all the other service I received at other Canadian Tire Stores on the island in Campbell River, Courtenay, and Duncan was excellent but the service department here does not seem to care if they do the job right or if they waste all your days off redoing their mistakes. However what they do care about at the NANAIMO Canadian Tire is blaming the customer, wasting your time and charging you for work that isn't done correctly so they can waste more of your time. They don't care if it was not fixed properly or if they miscommunicated to the customer all they worry about is getting you to pay them. If you try talking to the service manager Nigel he will tell you to use another garage, obviously you are the problem right?!! Well no worries about that Nigel. We will definitely be taking our business back to any other Canadian Tire on the island except the one here in Nanaimo where you are the service manager. Thanks for being so rude and disrespectful, hope they find a replacement for you soon, because you are terrible at your job. The mechanic however explained the confusion and had no issues remedying the problem, so thank you Colin and I wish I had spoken to you first. It would have been inconvenient still to of had to bring my car back in, but not so insulting. The worst customer service! I wondered around the store for about 25 minutes and watched employees talking to each other, doing all kinds of other stuff, but not one of them in any of the departments from lighting, garden centre, tools , kitchen asked us if we needed any help. I bought four tires online and paid $754.84 in advance. I was under the impression that this was the complete out-the-door price. But when I went to get the tires installed they wanted more money, about $190. I argued for half an hour, and even called the corporate headquarters in Ontario to complain. Finally, over my protest, the store charged me $156.57 which it told me was for "balancing," which was not included in the price I already paid. This location does not serve people with medical mask exception. After Walking in I was quickly approached by their security guard as he stood 2 feet from me and aggressively told me that they don't support mask exceptions and that I needed to GET OUT NOW, as he pointed to the door like he would to a dog. I would recommend future customers try Walmart or another location, If given the opportunity. Very disappointing coming from a business with "Canadian" in the name. read more

I had a disagreement with the auto service department assistant manager over the cost of a diagnosis. I wrote a polite letter to the department manager explaining why I felt that I had been treated unfairly. After hearing nothing from the manager, I wrote a similar letter to the store owner; this time I also included a complaint regarding the manager's ignoring me. No response again. I don't expect merchants to always give me what I think is right, but to ignore a customer is really bad. read more

I was told my new tires purchase would include the cost of mounting and balancing . When I called to make an appointment to get this done , I was told there would be an additional cost of $45 a tire for mounting and balancing . In addition to this , I was told that mounting and balancing for up to 15 inch tires were free , but any size over this there would be a charge . As this was on the weekend , I was told I would get a call back from the employer once he had , had a chance to speak with the Manager on Monday morning . I recieved no call , so I called them . The Manager then told me that they had no record of my prior conversation , and that the charge would apply . I told him that I had also been told that balancing and mounting of tires up to 15 inch would be free , which he said that was not the case either and that he had been standing beside the employer in question that morning and the employer had said to someone else that there was a charge for tires 15 inch or less . In conclusion , I would say not to believe what you are told over the phone , including from the irresponsible and impolite tire manager at the Nanaimo Canadian Tire . read more

If I could give the Nanaimo Canadian Tire less than one star, I would do it in a flash. What bunch of scum-sucking maggots. I went in to drop-off some used engine oil, limping along with a bad back, and the clown in the service bays told me to take it the front counter. So, I parked my vehicle then hobbled across with the oil to the service counter, where I was told that they would not take the oil unless I had a receipt to show that I purchased the stuff there ! I told the moron that I had already paid the eco-fee where I bought it, and was trying to do the right thing by not dumping it down the sewer (which I never, ever would do anyway). They simply refused to take it, because I can only assume that it would take 2 minutes out of their precious profit making time, to dump it in a barrel. Oh yeah, almost forgot this part. While I was at the service counter waiting for the turd to get off the phone, I could overhear the idiot apologizing to a customer at the other end of the phone line, about a mishap that occurred on the customers vehicle, that happened during an alignment process. It sounded pretty obvious to me that the "mechanic" broke a tie rod end, but wouldn't take responsibility for it. Another uneducated employee, no doubt. What a bunch of buffoons ! In the end, I took it to the Great Canadian Oil Change where they were so decent, and took it in with a smile. Awesome people ! read more

Surprised at the level of service at this Canadian Tire, it does not match what you come to expect from the brand. Ordered an item online for pick up, drove to Nanaimo the next day and spent the day waiting for the pick up notification, it never came so cancelled the order before supper and went in the store. Looked around for the item and a rep told me she was actually shopping for herself and couldn't help. The woman at customer service was snide and tried to give a brush off instead of even asking how she could help. It was uppity and rude. It was not busier than expected, there was no line and no customers waiting behind me. We are used to many teenagers working in our local store and overall the service and attitudes are outstanding in comparison. read more

This Canadian Tire is best avoided. It used to be great for service but has had a change in management. Since the change, I no longer trust them to diagnose and fix problems with my car. I spent almost 1400 dollars over three visits without them fixing the presenting problem. The manager, said he would make it right. I should have checked what that meant, as he certainly never made it right for me. In addition he has told me off twice now. I think it is best to avoid this garage until the management changes for the better. And, calling the head office has not resulted in any kind of improvement in how Manager treats customers. read more

The Service Manager at this location needs some serious training in customer service. After trying to speak with him on 3 occasions over a service issue finally made contact only to be told that he was to busy, but he then said what do you want. After stating problem he said I should be careful with what words I choose when complaining, I said you cant tell me how to complain (there was no swearing) he hung up on me. I went to the store and he threatened to call the police and asked me to leave. He accused me of spitting at him, CTV cameras would disprove this. Letters to CT complaints Dept. and store manager were unanswered. I cancelled my CT card which I had for 34 years and none of my family will ever step foot in a CT again but then again they don't seem to care. read more

If it were possible I would give this location zero stars, we experienced horrible service that could have ended very badly. About a few months ago we noticed our truck tires were losing air so we took it into the Nanaimo Canadian Tire to get a professional opinion. The manager of the auto service department, whose name I do not remember, claimed that there was something wrong with the valve stem. Which is what we also believed to be the root of the problem. They installed a valve stem kit and over-tightened it, it was missing the "seal" so they ended up breaking it, unbeknownst to us at the time (we were told later when we went to get a second opinion at KALTIRE). However, they told us they fixed it and we went on our way. About two weeks later we noticed it was losing air again. So we brought it back to that same shop and asked the same manager to take another look. They said it would take about 30 minutes so we went off to do some shopping. We then received a call a bit later when the manager accused us of breaking off the valve stems and was in general very rude to us. Some of the things said were "What the hell did you do to your truck?" and "Are you trying to pull a scam on us?" We were obviously offended and had no idea what they were talking about. After some discussion, where we assured them we would never do that they reluctantly agreed to fix it on their dime. So we went back to pick up our truck and asked a younger guy at the counter if our truck had been fixed and could be picked up. However he refused to give us a straight answer, and we could not get a "yes" out of him. We asked to speak with the manager who had been working on our truck but he informed us that he had gone home for the day and that we could not speak to him. He still refused to inform us the result of the check up but handed us our keys. As we got into our truck to leave, which was parked right in front of the auto service garage door, we saw the manager standing right there. So they lied right to our face and were just covering for themselves. We were still concerned about the tires so we booked an appointment with KALTIRE a week later to get another opinion. After looking at it they told us that the valve stem had been replaced incorrectly. This was obviously a very dangerous situation. They let us drive away in a very large Ford f350 truck where the tires could have blown and severely injured ourselves or others. We also came to learn that they did nothing at Canadian Tire the second time but add air to our tires. This was such unprofessional service. Especially compared to the Langford Canadian Tire where we continuously received amazing service and treatment. read more

i put personal items in cart to be replaced at canadian tire. i was looking at other products when someone took my cart with my personal items inside. security after repeated suggestion looked at tape found out who took my cart. told me discription of person. after further persistence on my part he finally made announcement on pa. for someone to return my personal items to no avail. i told store manager my story. i might as well talked to nobody as that is exactly what he did nothing, i will find it very hard to go back to that store which i have used many times. very dissapointing read more
