I bought a truck from Bouman and it needed a new thermostat and brake fluid. If they didn't know…read morethe brake fluid was low then they probably didn't check the truck very much. And the change oil came on the next day even though they said they checked it and it was clean. And after I brought this to their attention they wouldn't do anything. Not even a simple oil change. They are definitely not thinking about the customers after they sell the vehicles. I was very unimpressed. They need to work on customer service.

I have been here several times, each time they give me a solid reason not to do business with…read morethem. I called once at 9:15 am, and the guy who answered yelled at me and told me to stop calling before they opened at 9:30. I was looking for a specific car, test drove a few, then during an inspection I found that the rear differential was knocking LOUD. I took it to my mechanic for a repair quote (in the thousands) so I brought the car back, Walter Bouman asked why I wouldn't buy it, I explained what was wrong, and he flew off the handle, screaming that my mechanic was an idiot 'druggie' who didn't know a lick about cars. The same day, out of desperation i test drove a car that had clearly been submerged in salt water, as there was a huge line of salt on the interior of the car, the panels and hinges were severely rusted and the younger guy stated that 'he didn't know the history on his cars, they get them at auction' The next time I went there, I called in advance asking if they had a particular make, i got a reply that 'yes, we have several in stock' only to drive all the way to Nanaimo to find that they did not have that car, nor this fictitious three cars in stock, they tried then to put me in some pieces of crap that they promised were 'JUST as good as the one I was after' These guys are scary shady. Stay away.

A typical macho place. I had a very bad experience purchasing a used car. At my first appointment,…read morethe salesman was meeting another customer at the same time. Then another employee put pressure to get me toI sign the paperwork. When I complained to the manager, he doesn't seem to care about how his employees do things. Finally, I probably would end up with a better financial agreement if the request to the banks had been made more than just two hours before my appointment to pick up the car. In the past, I spent a lot of money in repairs at their shop but from now on, I will go to another place.

BE WARNED OF THIS DEALERSHIP…read more We purchased a used Golf from this dealership in 2014. Five days ago we were driving home from Victoria to Courtenay when the car began to stall on us anytime we slowed down to a stop or had to go up any sort of incline from a stopped position. This happened when we were just outside Nanaimo and were able to make it to the VW dealership for servicing. They did a diagnostic, determined it was a worn out ignition coil, and they replaced it. They charged us $450. We left the dealership and got back onto the highway only to realize that the car was acting exactly the same way. Nothing had been fixed! Even though it was not safe because of all the stalling, we were able to make it back to Courtenay. When we contacted them and asked them for some - ANY - kind of refund, because they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM, they said there's nothing they can do. All they did was misdiagnose the problem and charge us $450. Just a reminder, we purchased this car at this dealership. Is that how you want to be treated as a customer who spent thousands of dollars purchasing a car? It goes without saying that we will never, ever, use them again. I would strongly suggest that if you're looking to purchase a VW, go to Courtenay or Victoria. Be warned that they do not take customer service seriously.

I went to Mitsubishi, because someone told me to check out a car there. I wasn't interested in…read morebuying, and the car Devon showed me did not look perfectly nice to me, it was gutless, and it had mildew. I asked me if I liked it, after he brushed away my dislikes, with excuses, and fabrications. I was going to walk away but found myself in his office signing a deal. I didn't want to buy it. He uses sales techniques that are very unethical. It is not about the customer but just for him. He got a free trip to Mexico for signing me, and so did the finance guy Jason. I put a clause that if the mildew wasn't gone, the deal was broken. He promised that it would look and smell like a brand new car. ANyhow, in the finance department, Jason got me financing without asking me how much I pay in rent. My rent is $75 more than my pension. I just squeak through. Meanwhile during the process, the price on the window was too much for me...and too much for that car. While Devon was writing me up, he said that management no longer was selling it for that price; it was higher. He never told me how much more it was, and I didn't get a chance to say that, that was unacceptable because I wouldn't be able to afford more. Then in the finance department, Jason said that they don't sell cars for less than $17,000, so he upped the price even more. He seemed to be talking to himself, because he didn't say whether that was alright. He got me financing which I wasn't even interested, at that point, in doing. I went back twice to sniff out the mildew. The first time I went back, I noticed mud on the seats. He said, "Oh no, they don't do a full clean, just the dash and stuff like that, so he said, for me, he would shampoo the seats, which he probably only did for the front ones. The last time I went back, the mildew was still there. The manager asked me why I wanted to buy a car if I knew that there was mildew. He thought he was going to catch me with deception that he could point back at me. I said, well, he said that he would fix it. Devon looked like he just lost the game. I very fortunately got out of the deal. As well, when someone has financing checked too many times by businesses, without buying, it looks suspicious to the credit companies. They had absolutely no regard or car about whether my finanacial situation collapsed, as long as they made a sale. That is really extremely dishonest. I told a bank teller my story, and she said the same thing happened to her. She got entangled in what she felt was the clutches of a vulture, that she couldn't get out of. She also did not want to buy her car, because now she is on the edge finanacially. THese people take sales courses, which are the same courses they taught to soldiers of war. This has to stop. People are on the edge financially right now, so they don't need an extra push over the cliff. Devon should not be doing sales. i tried to tell him that he was doing wrong, but he said that he didn't force me. Yes he did, and he knows it.
