Mar 9, 2026 I have…read morejust purchased and had installed a set of Nokian One 100H tires (215/70/R16) for my Honda CR-V (FWD only). I had asked for a recommendation for tires that would provide a softer more comfortable ride than my existing Nokian all weather set and be very good in the rain. I found the existing ride to be very harsh, especially going over depressed manhole covers and typical Nanaimo road patches. I had some slim hope better tires might produce enough improvement to at least notice so as to justify my somewhat earlier than needed purchase. I would like to say how pleased I am at the resulting improvement. The new Nokians were even smoother on smooth pavement and over my "favourite" set of 3 sequential road patches on Jinglepot the car produced just a muted bump instead of the harsh bone shaking bang from the old all weathers. I haven't had the opportunity to test the new ones in the rain yet (soon will I think) but I can say even on dry pavement I've noticed improved traction. Thanks to all the staff who helped with the recommendation, scheduled the appointment, and did all the install work. Once again Kal Tire 682 (6590 Island Hwy N) has come through for me. Midas (Departure Bay Location Only):…read more I only went to this location because of the close proximity to my house. While the front end staff are friendly and accommodating. I will never go here again. After spending lots of $$$$ and giving them multiple chances; here is what has been consistent: -The Quality Control and Checklists of their work is well below par with each visit, I found parts paid for but not installed. -Each visit resulted in missing OEM parts, or parts not completely installed or parts even coming off my vehicle. -The owner is an absolute condescending, arrogant, person. -They overpromise and never deliver, I'm still waiting for a return/follow up call after I have reached out to them 4 times. The Hammond Bay Location; however, does deliver.

It is a low sedan and it was scraping the ground. I did not know what to do , I could not refasten it or tear it off. I called a Lexus repair shop and they were busy for days. I called Midas and ask them if they could look under and fix it and they squeezed me in in about an hour from when I called. They fixed it immediately and did not charge me. There is a woman that's running the shop there and she seems very efficient. It really was a good feeling to be taken care of so soon and not charged. I haven't had the best experiences with Midas back inCalifornia.

The cost to fix is at least $400 from my mechanic and if any pieces from the drilling got down into the oil pan, then the cost will be way more! They said this happened because we came from the U.S. and it was a hot day and the plastic piece of the dipstick handle likely melted off. However, the car sat for over 3 hours during the ferry ride from Tssawwsen, so the engine was not hot, since we only drove about 20 minutes from the ferry to the dealership. Also, we had our oil changed THREE times in Palm Springs where we lived for awhile in up to 120 degree heat and never had any problems. P.S. To top it all off, their pay system also asked for a tip on top of the $165 that we paid for the service. We did get a $7 discount because we noticed a Valvoline discount, but we had to ask. Also, they offered no discount and did not even ask if we wanted the free advertised Car Wash. We left very unhappy. We will write management and report back if management offers to pay for some or all of the repair.

Ron got me in for my brakes that needed hours within me calling about it , I normally would have to arrange a ride home and wait a full day if not multiple days for basic things like coolant flush and oil changes at laird Wheaton , at Mid island automotive I was in and out so quickly I just sat in the lobby and chatted with Cammy the lovely woman that works at the front desk and was treated to coffee and a Christmas chocolate while the men worked their magic , I was shocked at how quickly the service was . The price was very reasonable and I left there happy and not feeling ripped off like every other place I've been in Nanaimo , they topped off my fluids as well . Ron and his team were extremely accommodating, kind , informative and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Mid island automotive to friends , family or anyone needing some work done on their vehicle , I'm sure you will be as satisfied with their work as I was . Thanks so much to all the staff at mid island automotive!

Literally the worst customer service…read moreand purchase experience of my life 47 years on this earth and I've seen some awful stuff but this place should win an award for worst dealership in Canada. Delivered a leaky vehicle full of water and after driving up and down the island several times over almost a month after purchasing the vehicle dealing with repairs they gave me one final kick in the nuts and left me with barely enough gas to get to the gas station in the hand off at the Campbell river dealership not involved just a handoff point I will never walk into another Ford dealership again as a result of this experience. If you are shopping for a vehicle skip this place you are literally better off going anywhere else. Got a lot to say but the coles notes version is skip this dealership if you value your money and time and want an experience that isn't a hassle.

We leased a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport from Steve Marshall Ford on April 8, 2025. We agreed to a…read more$40,000 all-in price -- signed in writing. But when the final lease paperwork was printed, the total had jumped to $43,695.50. No explanation was given, and no breakdown of the $3,695.50 increase was provided. We were not shown any accessory menu or given a chance to approve or decline the extra charges. These included a $1,995 "SMFL Bundle," $319 for undercoating, a $450 lease acquisition fee, and an $899 documentation fee -- none of which were clearly disclosed or discussed with us. We also came in looking to finance, and specifically asked about Ford's advertised 0%, 0.99%, and 3.99% interest rates. We were told those didn't apply because of a $7,000 rebate -- but that rebate never appeared in the final numbers. Instead, we were told the MSRP was $52,000, even though the official window sticker says $49,930. The "post-rebate" price of $45,000 was mentioned verbally but never appeared on any document. By the end of the day, we had been quoted or shown six different prices for the same vehicle: * $52,000 (verbal MSRP) * $49,930 (window sticker) * $45,000 (claimed post-rebate price) * $43,695.50 (lease capitalized cost) * $47,500 (insurance paperwork) * $40,000 (signed deal sheet) That kind of inconsistency speaks for itself. We've filed formal complaints with the Vehicle Sales Authority of BC, Ford Canada, and other oversight bodies. We've kept full records of everything -- emails, pricing sheets, lease documents, and insurance files. If you're a first-time buyer, please slow the process down. Take every document home to review, and don't sign anything on the spot. Ask more questions than you think you need to. We wish we had.
