Delicious pastel de nata and cappuccino this morning with a beautiful view of the Praca and perfect weather. Full menu is available with calamari, sardines, cod cakes etc. Highly recommended due to great and friendly service.
While taking a stroll, I happened to come across Can the Can and decided to sit outside for lunch. It's not my top choice for Portuguese cuisine, but it was a decent experience. I started with the canned sardines in brine, which were flavorful, though the bread served underneath didn't quite hit the mark. The grilled calamari, unfortunately, was a bit chewy. For the main course, I had spaghetti with sardines, which was enjoyable, and paired it with a side of grilled vegetables. Overall, it was an average meal--not something I'd recommend or revisit.
The service was extremely friendly and fast! It was cold and windy for dinner so they offered us blankets. We were also given muscatel after our meal on the house which was amazing. We ordered Mediterranean eggs, mushrooms, tuna samosas, cod cakes, and bread. Everything was very good, my favorite was the mushrooms. The Not Even a Crumb cocktail was so good, it has cookie crumbs and a cheesecake-like foam on top. The Porto tonico was really refreshing and good too.

Excellent seafood. I had the oven baked octopus and my wife the tiger prawn Caesar salad. Both were excellent. Our waiters were great - attentive without crowding you. They also had a sense of humour, which I appreciate. Good seafood with a modern, cutting edge. Disappointed to have only discovered it on our last night or else we would be back.
This was our first dinner in Lisboa. We were just walking around then got caught in the rain, so we decided to get something to eat. I love tapas, so we decided on this place because I have shellfish allergy. We got the hummus, but I didn't like the seeded bread they served with it. It was dense and tough, not like any pita I've had before. We got the marinated tuna which was tasty and melted in my mouth. We also got the cod fritters. They were tasty but nothing special. Last but not least we had the guacamole. It was very creamy and delicious, but they served it with what I think were lentil chips that were very fragile. We tried the white and the read sangria and I like the red better.
I'm in Lisbon for the first time. Walking around touring and wanted to eat and have some beer. The server was wonderful! She helped me choose a sampler with different local options to try. The view overlooking the water and the bridge was excellent. I recommend Can the Can for a great Meal with a great view.
We decided on eating here because it was one of the few places that offered traditional canned fish on the menu. Honestly, the food was so delicious at lunch we came back a second time for dinner. Service (Elsa) was also top notch and the music and ambience was first rate. Can't recommend can the can enough. Please try it. Oh and the cocktails were heavenly. I drank way more than I usually do. Simply delicious.
We went here for a few drinks and something light to eat before dinner. We arrived at around 6.30pm in a Saturday evening. The server helped us choose a seat by a heater, which was appreciated. We had some olives, the cod cakes, sardines, and the cheese and meat platter. The food was quite tasty, all in all, especially the sardines. It wasn't busy or loud and it was just what we were looking for. It's a nice place to visit for a light snack and a drink
I must say, this place blew me away! Every single dish we tried was absolutely divine! The octopus was cooked perfectly, you could cut it with your fork. I am NOT, absolutely NOT a sardine person, but the bruschetta with sardines was so tasty, I would definitely eat it again! (Yeah, i said it). The location is great, which is located in Rossio square and it's next to the ocean front. Why wouldn't you stop by and try it! I definitely recommend giving this place a shot!
A tad pricey but the food is delicious! We got 2 main dishes, the octopus and the cod, both of which were super yummy. They were both served with potatoes- the cod had some spinach and caramelized onions which were so flavorful in addition to the fish. We had been craving octopus and it was cooked beautifully. It's located right on Praça do Comércio which makes sense why it's a bit pricier than some other local restaurants. We sat outside and enjoyed the view! Would recommend this place if you're in the area and just want to grab a yummy meal!
We had a great breakfast and even better service for our first meal in Lisbon, Portugal. Top notch view of the ocean for this breakfast. I will come back to this establishment simply because of the service I received. Let me leave no doubt that the food was superb too. The Avacado toast with fried eggs was on point.
Wow! The best octopus we had in Lisboa. The food was amazing. But even better then the food was sitting outside while the sun started to set people watching with yummy wine and food. Definitely recommended.
UPDATE - If I'm in Lisbon I'm eating at Can the Can. This time around we were there twice. Once for lunch with a friend and then just us for a snack. Both times service was great, atmosphere is wonderful whether you eat outside or their gorgeous inside room. For lunch we ordered the cod fish baked à braz, the grilled calamari, and the black linguine with shrimp. Great portions, great value. The next time around we got their outstanding codfish fritters and the fried green beans which we Portuguese call "garden fishes." Just like my mom used to make them. Make sure to stop there and try some traditional Portuguese cuisine with some modern twists. read more
This place was suggested by Chat GPT and we were pleasantly surprised. Even though it was in a very heavy foot traffic area regarding tourists and monuments and just multiple things to see because the space was so large both in the plaza and outside the restaurant it didn't feel cramped. We got seated pretty quickly and we were very happy that there were multiple umbrellas up because the sun was definitely shining brightly that day. We saw some of the specials recommended by Yelp and chat GPT and decided to get some small tapas that were local to the area. A lot of them were with tuna and octopus. And they were very very delicious small portions which was great for us because we didn't want to have too much of a heavy meal as we were going to have a big dinner later on Service was spot on. We had three separate servers come check on us throughout our hour and 45 minutes there. Very pleasant, big smiles on their faces, and we're very quick to see if we needed any extra items. We were happy with our overall experience and prices, even though in a touristy area, were reasonable if you focused on the topaz and a bottle of wine. read more

Only 4 reviews for "Can the Can"? I'm so surprised! This is a top restaurant located on one of the most beautiful place in Lisbon: Praça do Comércio. Most people and tourists arrive here after their shopping time in the Augusta street. I am a tourist but I have to say that I truly hate "tourist-catcher" restaurants and shops. That's why - thank god - Yelp exists! I love discovering cities from another side, from the real side actually! Once located, the app guided us to "Can the Can". Sun was up and we are so hungry! The waiter here is just sooooo cooooool! The guy welcomed us warmly and moreover, he is funny and can't stop talking, smiling, taking pictures; a real clown! About the food, we both took a burger but everything was tempting! The bread was excellent, meat also but what I loved the most: the fries (see picture)! I still remember how tasty and delicious it was! I want to go back! Little tip for curious people like me: we had a table outside but don't hesitate to jump into the restaurant or check my pictures. Great place right off the metro and in the main square. Got a table in the sun which was nice to soak up some sun. All the staff was friendly and all of them spoke English. Cocktails seemed over priced until we got them. 10 euro for a Hendrix gin and tonic seemed steep then it came to the table. Totally worth the value. Foot was great. We split appetizers including anchovies with toast and olives and an octopus croquette with a mustard and honey "dipping" sauce. This is a great place to sit, watch people take silly Instagram photos of the monuments. Love it! read more

Solid 4 for the food and 5 for the service and atmosphere. Let's start by the great location right by the water and big square, wonderful to people watch if you are lucky to get a table outside. My waiter Mario spoke English very well, was knowledgable, made excellent recommendations. The full team followed suit, checking on me without being to over bearing just at the write level. I started with the starter platter, which I thought would be too big for one person, it slightly was so I left a bit un eaten but it was a great way to sample the different starters, some were better than others, for example the one that is wrapped in zucchini and is spicy was my favorite. I had a special gin cocktail to this and it was delicious even though I hate gin, I trusted Marios judgement. I had the main course of salted cod which, yes it IS salty hence the name, but it was just to the perfect level another excellent dish. I had the traditional custard for dessert, I was so full by then I couldn't do something bigger though I wish I had gone with the couscous recommendation now. I highly recommend this place for a try. Looks like the service might be hit or miss depending on other reviews, but if you get Mario you are in good hands. read more
Just finished up a mini-lunch with drinks here. Great service, decent prices given the incredible location , and delicious food. I had the tuna bruschetta and hubby had eggs /toast. Limited menu, so check the menu before you sit. But we both enjoyed what we ordered. Lots of food options in this particular area, but this one will not disappoint. read more

We sat outside in a really nice and breezy seat. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. Food was great! We had a great experience and definitely recommend going to Can the Can!! read more
