Had dinner at Bistro 100 yesterday and here are my thoughts. Ambiance is great...restaurant is beautiful. The table we were sitting at was tiny though and a bit claustrophobic. Very strange since the restaurant was barely half full on a Thursday night. Service is top notch. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Food is a bit of a let down. We had the Grilled Lettuce Hearts, the Bosnian Style Vegetables, Bistro's potatoes, Yugoslavian Goulash, bread service, and Sweet Potato Puree. Of all of these items I would say the Lettuce Hearts was the best thing we had. Everything else was lacking in terms of taste and especially quantity. Amazing amazing amazing! Like some of the review suggested, we started wonderful evening at the bar to enjoy a cocktail. This two-story restaurant between charming Chiado and nightlife hub Bairro Alto is chef Ljubomir Stanisic's fancy, funky, punk-chic, no-bullshit, fine-dining flagship. When at the table, we started with the smoked pork tartare that was full of flavor. Don't miss the dishes that have been served since the opening, which you will see a notation on the menu. We enjoyed the coraker collar that was grilled to perfection. The dry aged pork loin was another highlight! The food is just to die for, beyond my high expectation! We landed in Lisbon without dinner reservations a couple weeks ago and were very happy to be ushered into 100 Maneiras for dinner. We did the 13(?) course tasting menu and it was very enjoyable (but we were so stuffed that finishing the last few course was a challenge!) The service was also excellent up until the end when I discovered we were charged both overcharged for tap water. When I gave the server my credit card to pay, she asked me directly how much to add for the tip, which was just rude. I enjoyed the meal but wouldn't return next time I'm in Lisbon. Had a deliciously rich dinner here. I highly recommend the croquettes and the spinach burek. The yogurt sauce on the burek was a really wonderful combination. The loin tataki was rich and delicious. It's on the heavier side, so keep that in mind for what you're looking for. The octopuff was delicious, though I'd prefer the side to be something a bit more neutral to balance the sweetness of the dish vs. the sweet potato puree which was also very sweet, though impressively smooth--so much so that it coats your mouth and tongue wonderfully as you eat it. The service was good and I really loved our window seat on the second floor looking out onto the city. It was super cosy. The space generally is quite nice and intimate. read more

Whenever you go to a Michelin star meal you always have pretty high expectations and I think it was met. The inside is very earthy and dark and romantic but also something accessible with duck and animal pitchers serving water. Our dinner was 17 courses that was supposed to take us through the chefs life. Really amazing starters and the best thing about this meal is how creative and fearless it was. Cow head crackers with congealed caviar, fish covered in ink served on the bottom of a bowl, simple piece of fish with simple broth, and tacos as a main course. Wine pairings were also soo perfect to go with each course and really celebrated Portugal. In reality I would probably give it overall a 4.5 because expectations are so high. But it was such an overall satisfying experience I give a full 5 stars. read more

Enjoyed dinner in the Barrio Alto section of Lisbon at a the highly rated Bistro 100 Madeiras. We ordered cocktails and the tuna tartare and potatoes skins with dried herb salt accompanied by a creamy dipping sauce with a hint of dill for starters. For entrees, we shared the saffron risotto and beef tips in a delectable wine sauce and the seafood rice with fish and prawns. To close out our evening, we shared the Cheese Foam and Guava and the "Brûlée-vous Coucher Avec Moi?" Vanilla Crème-Brûlée. Each equally light and delicious. Place is over rated and feels a but pretentious for most reason., It's always a bad sign when the fries are the best part of your meal. Outside of the fries, the bourek was memorable but theres so many choices in Lisbon at a much better value. Cocktails and wine list I will say was solid. Had dinner here after reading Yelp reviews. Very close to our hotel in Lisbon. The decor is beatiful. We sat upstairs and won the lottery with our server. Beautiful Portugese woman. She guided us throughout the night after hearing what we like to eat. We started with the ceviche and potato skin. Both very flavorful. For our entrees we shared the tuna tartare and squid. Again, everyrhing was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor. For dessert we had the cheese foam with sorbet. Perfect way to end the meal. Lucky to see the chef as we were leaving. I really enjoyed the experience here. The place has an interesting design and vibe. We arrived for an 8:30pm reservation on Saturday night and it was fully booked. Prior to dinner we each had a cocktail at their famous bar. Both the Hard Candy and Honey Dew were mixed perfectly and super tasty. Upon finishing we were seamlessly taken upstairs to be seated for our meal. We ordered water and bread with cheeses and olives for the table. You pay for that, but I feel that is to be expected in Europe. We were recommended a phenomenal wine to pair with our selected meals. For starters we had the freshly sliced Ham and the Beef stew Croquettes. Both were sizeable and very good. For mains we had the Steak and the Truffle Pasta with Mushrooms.......the food came relatively quickly and was very hot and cooked to perfection. I even got to spoon out my noodles a serving at a time so they remained hot in the pot. Dessert didn't nail it, I had the creme brûlée while my friend enjoyed the baked apple. This was the only part of the evening that made us wish we strolled to Manteigaria for Pasties de Nata versus the former. Overall, it was one of top meals of the trip. We will return. read more

Great meal at Bistro 100 Maneiras, one of my best memories of Lisbon. Went with my family and a slight problem to start, took an Uber to 100 Maneiras assuming they were next to each other, they weren't. It's about a ten minute walk. That was the only problem with the night. The highlight was a suckling pig showdown, which was incredible. Great tasting pork with lots of lovely crisp skin. One of the best dishes I have had anywhere. For starters, really enjoyed the ribs. Perfectly cooked with a tantalizing BBQ sauce. Service was also excellent, hip, friendly without being phony. This restaurant was pretty great. They had a lot of different wines available by the glass. The staff was helpful and gave me some samples to try. Lots of interesting stuff, like a wine that was made in clay urns. It had an interesting flavour. I also tried a Gewurztraminer and a Moscato. All were quite good. The Couvert was good: delicious breads including focaccia, and some interesting mushroom spread, olive oil... All quite delicious for cheap. The cevice was delicious. Very flavourful with complex flavours and a variety of sweet, savoury and tangy. Great effort. My main dish of smoked trout was disappointing, but they get a great review from me because everything else was delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful. Also multilingual: I heard Portuguese, English, and French, while I communicated in Spanish. Very fun. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I generally don't rate places while on vacation but I have to say.. This place does not live up to the ratings below nor the cost. The hostess gave lip about being16 min late for our reservation when they weren't even full... The food is salty and flavor combinations interesting. They mixed up the way they cooked my husbands burger vs my sirloin... And the wait staff is more interested in each other than asking how our meal was going. To top it off... I informed the staff the bathroom was out of order... And after a staff member went to fix it... It was still out of order. I almost lost my meal... Fantastic 10 course tasting menu with excellent service. Reservations are essential but we were able to set it up on the day of our meal which happened to be a Friday. Foods included amazing presentations of crispy cod, foie gras, oyster, mackerel, pork, and lamb. Deserts included a cheesecake followed with an ice cream. Each dish included a very creative presentation pleasing to the eye as much as to the taste (see pictures). Only thing that was not worth it was the wine pairing. We asked for a decent bottle of wine to go with the meal but the somm just could not do it. He insisted we do the pairing. The wine was good but it was too much. By the end it blurred our taste buds too much. In the end we should have just gotten our bottle and enjoyed it without overdoing it. Reserved at this restaurant on the fork.com. We called to change the reservation time and they agreed however when we got to the restaurant they seemed to not have gotten that notice and said we were no shows. That was possibly the only hiccup here. Service was excellent - they immediately greeted us and offered water and recommendations on the wine. We had the croquettes and the mushroom asparagus salad to start. The latter of which cannot be missed- you must order this if you come here as the intensity of the flavours mixed together were surreal. Secondly I had the squid dish which was partially excellent with respect to the fried part and underwhelming with respect to the grilled part as it was overcooked and rubbery. Sides were excellent. My boyfriend has the steak tartare and it was potentially the largest and the best tartare I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend. We found Bistro 100 after being turned away from Taberna around the corner. This upscale restaurant didn't disappoint. Monday night and the restaurant was very busy. People were nicely dressed - lawyers in natty jackets. Some tourists but mostly Portuguese locals. We waited just 5 minutes and were seated upstairs. The only detractor in the whole experience was the noise level in the upstairs dining area. Really loud. Service, albeit slow (read: hands-off Portuguese style) was excellent. We were brought a basket of mixed breads. All very toothsome. My dining companion ordered the Papardelle with porcini sauce. Outstanding. Enough for two. But what made the dish special is that it was brought to the table in a small cast iron dutch oven. One could remove a portion of pasta and the remaining dish stayed warm. I had two appetizers. PLENTY of food. 1. A most unusual warm salad: white asparagus, sauteed mushrooms ("Cogumelos" in portuguese and likely my most favorite word in the portuguese language) and a poached egg on top, but it was all served in a mason jar which the server stirred together at the last minute. Really delicious. The mix of flavors and textures was excellent. 2. Chicken livers sauteed with apples and port. I'm a sucker for chicken livers. This dish was perfect. Again, perfect balance of flavors and textures. Dinner for two with two glasses of vihno verdo and the 3 dishes came to 75 Euros. Worth it. One of the best meals I had in the entire country. read more

Although I think sea urchin is vile and tastes like rotten bike tires, they were able to put a little in my dish without my minding 3. Cute stories behind the actually dishes like the dried cod dangling on clothes hangers with the super yummy dipping sauces 4. Garlic bread garlic bread garlic bread! I completely ignored all other forms of bread in our little white bag when I found these yummy yeast treasures 5. I enjoy small portions so I can try more things 6. Two desserts?! OK!! 7. Super nice and attentive wait service 8-100. Ok, you didn't really think I was going to go to 100 did you? All the more I can say is that for a large sum of money, you can have interesting food here and good wine. If you don't like paying a lot for creativity, you won't like this place. For me, it's a one-time place. Great to try, but next restaurant I will eat in Lisbon, will be a nice alley whole in the wall with some salted cod and shrimp! read more

Sometimes a restaurant gets 5 stars for mostly its food. And sometimes it's a lot more. I was in the mood for something modern and urban, after having sampled mostly traditional Portuguese fare for the previous 4 days. The hotel concierge recommended this place. Wow, he was spot on! Ambience is intimate but hopping. The servers hustled. I like that. They were friendly, helpful and efficient. The sommelier was knowledgeable and very helpful. He steered me right with the wine. Super. Just one complaint, the first course came out well before I finished my cocktail. Subsequent courses were paced much better. I started with a cocktail of their own creation. It was yummy. The first course was the asparagus and mushroom salad with a poached egg. They bring it to you in a squat mason jar with the egg on top and the server stirs it for you table side. The salad is not so much a salad as it is vegetable heaven. The Portuguese definitely know how to step up their vegetables. There were two kinds of asparagus, both perfectly cooked al dente. The mushrooms added depth and richness and the egg, which melted into everything, added even more richness. Wow. The second course was stunning. Baby suckling pig with crackly skin and a potato galette, which was quite French, except it had herbs on top, and wasn't as heavy. A beautiful sauce swirled around the plate, and a green herb-infused oil too. I dipped every bite. Wow and the pig was crazy tender. Dessert was the Yugoslav apple pie. Its shape reminded me of a chorizo sausage. (hmm, deliberate?) Cinnamon ice cream in the middle. Not bad, but not world-beating. I did finish it! This is bistro food at its best. Seemingly simple fare and not fussy on the plate, but the flavors just were amazing. read more

We were lucky enough to get a reservation at the restaurant, which only does the tasting menu. If you are looking for the a la carte menu, be sure to book a reservation at the bistro. Located on a side street, the restaurant has a very small and simple exterior that opens up to approximately 12 tables which they seem to only turn once in a night. The dishes were all excellent and wine pairings all perfect. They offer a classic and premium pairing, but the classic wines were great. The first portions were relatively small, but the main courses were the perfect size. Both the fish and the steak were cooked perfectly. I got to visit the Bistro location because the main restaurant was fully booked. I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't make the reservation because the system didn't go through online for some reasons. Given this is located in a very touristy area, I think an improvement in the reservation system would have been nice. I was there very early so was able to secure a table. Started out with some bread and olive oil. The olive oil was great but I wished the bread was a lot warmer. It was good but it was just cold. Personal preference: I just like the bread to be warm enough and crunch. For starter, I selected the fried cuttlefish with wasabi dipping sauce. I have to say I love the sauce a little bit more than the cuttlefish. It was evenly fried. Just a few chewy pieces but overall it was a good dish when accompanied with the wasabi sauce. For the main dish, I tried the monkfish. Again, I think what really brought out the flavor of the meal was the sauce. The fish itself tasted very fresh but with the sauce it was so much better. The crustaceans were also very good and gave a nice contrast in both texture and taste to the monkfish. It gave a little kick to the tastebuds if you decided to eat this last instead of alternating it and the monkfish. For desert: I choose the cheese foam and sorbet. It was very flavorful. You had to dig a little hard to get to the sorbet but it's a nice contrast between the cheese foam and the sorbet. Service: overall the service was good for the restaurant type. The restaurant did get busy as the night went on so the lack of attention will always be there. So just be patient and i think they will be with you. The restroom is also nice and clean which is not always the case at other restaurants. read more

We had a very disappointing experience here, both with regard to service and food. Service: we arrived and were seated, given a food menu but no drinks menu for some reason. We waited for quite some time for anyone to come to our table to offer us anything. Eventually a waiter showed up, and without so much as a hello or good evening, let alone an offer to answer questions (despite many opaquely named dishes on the menu) or to get us a drinks list, he just asked "have you chosen?". His service continued to be indifferent, bordering on rude, throughout the meal. We also had some service at times from another waitress, who was better but still not great. They didn't seem to co-ordinate with each other very well, either: we would order something from one, then the other would show up and ask us what we wanted to order, and so on. Just before our main dishes arrived my partner ordered a glass of wine, which never arrived, and the wine menu was taken away before I had the chance to order a glass for myself. No-one voluntarily checked in on us or asked us how the food was, even when one dish was clearly not getting eaten (see below). Food: we ordered the potato skins to start, which were fine but needed more salt. For our main dishes I had the turbot, which was mediocre - overwhelmed in a very sugary beet risotto - but essentially OK. By contrast, my partner's dish - octopus in a spicy, sweet sauce - was inedible. The octopus was overcooked and rubbery, and the sauce was congealed on the plate and completely lacked the promised spice. She wasn't able to finish more than a few bites. When a waitress came to clear the dishes (long after I'd finished my dish, and with only a few bites of my partner's dish touched), my partner complained about her dish. The waitress didn't react very well initially, but to be fair, she took the dish back to the kitchen and then came back and said the kitchen admitted that the dish was not up to standard and that the octopus was overcooked. As an apology she sent us a dessert, which was a guava sorbet with a biscuit base and a cheese foam, and which was fine. The free dessert was a nice gesture, but when the bill came, the restaurant had still charged us for the octopus, which was not OK given that it was so bad that we couldn't eat it, and that the kitchen had admitted as much. We complained again and then they agreed to take off the charge for the octopus. Again, good that they did so, but we shouldn't have needed to insist. Drinks: we ordered two of the supposedly famous cocktails, both of which were fine but fairly one-dimensional in flavor profile and lacked kick. As mentioned above, we never got to try the wine. Ambience: the vibe, with almost clubby music, is stylish and works well late at night. There is a part of the bar/restaurant that allows smoking and there's no door between it and the main restaurant, which allows smoke to drift through to where you're eating, especially if you're seated toward the front of the restaurant, as we were. Even if we bracket the saga with the octopus dish, the food was mediocre and the service indifferent, and the prices are really very high for Lisbon. We were sad to have wasted one of our meals in Lisbon on this restaurant when there are so many other great options in town. read more

Criminally underrated--just go. I am incredibly surprised this place does not have hundreds of reviews and a waiting list for months. This is one of the best meals my girlfriend and I have had, and we've been lucky to eat in a lot of really terrific places. First, are you scared about the tasting menu thinking it's going to be pretentious as hell without being any good? Don't be. The staff is super chill if you show them that's the experience you want, and the dining room generally is not stuffy. Second, get the wine paring. €35/person very well spent. Obviously, what really matters here is the food. Holy. Hell. One of the first appetizers was an oyster, and it was seriously the best oyster either of us had ever had. (And it was exactly the type of dish that would ordinarily scare me because it wasn't simply "oyster," there was a bit of foam and melon, which screams "trying too hard" from the description, but tasted stupidly good.) Another stand out was their spin on cod, which potentially is a misleading example given that every place in Lisbon has "a spin on cod," but this was truly special. The "over his shoulder" (pork in beat polenta--I'm giving the whole pork thing a try in Europe) was stupidly good. Mainly because of the beat polenta, which is pretty much the best polenta either of us have ever had or could ever imagine. Service was absolutely exceptional. read more

We booked this restaurant because we read so many raving reviews about this restaurant. Right now it has 4.5/5 stars out of 26 reviews. There's only one menu, you can't eat à la carte. We took the menu with wine pairing. We were a group of 6 and were seated at a very small round table, not comfortable. We had to switch positions to fit the taller people. It was very hot in there, some of us went outside for a while to get some fresh air. The starters were hardly starters, they were amuses. I wouldn't call it a dish if it can fit on one spoon! They were interesting at most (see the photos for details). The main courses (fish and meat) were very good, but once again very small. The meat dish was entrecote. I asked the waiter what kind of beef it was, but he didn't now. So they called the chef. I asked him again what beef we received, "is it Charolais, Simmenthal, Rubia Gallega, ... ?" and he said "just regular cow"! Very bad marks in my book. The desserts were good as well (not everybody liked the foie gras ice cream, but I did), and these were finally acceptably sized. The wine pairing then ... They were presented very convincingly, but I wasn't convinced at all after tasting them. In the end we were more disappointed than satisfied. It was just too expensive for what we got. Gorgeous food with great service. You have to have the 10 course tasting menu, however they are good at adapting dishes to take dietary requests into account. Each dish was beautifully presented, imaginative and tasted great. The highlight was the foie gras ice cream, something that I wasn't convinced I'd like but was won over by. The ice cream was very creamy with only a subtle hint of the foie gras, and went well with the earthy crumble. Although the dishes were small, with 10 courses I wouldn't have wanted anything larger! The menu was also very reasonably priced (around 50 euros), so I'd definitely make a booking next time I'm in Lisbon. read more

The service here was excellent, but besides that I was not at all impressed with the seasonal tasting menu; in fact, some of the dishes were downright offensive. Cheese ice cream with cheese whipped cream, cheese slices, and a thick cheese drizzle on top? Ugh. I didn't think it was possible to ruin one of my favorite things (cheese is so great on its own!), but the consistent layering of flavors weighed down the dishes to the point where they were inedible. The same thing happened with the dessert: it was way too many flavors and textures all thrown together and plated in a gimmicky way, made more apparent by the ridiculous naming of each dish ("Say Cheese" and "Geranamo"). Last but not least, we were served a horrifying pigeon dish that was plated as if the bird had exploded on the plate (yes, there was actual red splatter made of beets made to look like blood). I was actually wondering if the staff was punking us as the dishes got more absurd. I love fine dining and appreciate tasting menus and cuisines from all over the world, but would never recommend this and would advise going literally anywhere else if you have the money to spend on a good meal. read more

A friend recommended me to come here for the 10 course tasting menu and it was really good. My friend loved it and she paid ridiculous amount of tips. I enjoyed the meal too and it was def one of the best meals i have ever had. Excellent presentation and superb taste. My friend doesn't eat red meat so they replaced the lamb and pork belly with scallop and sea bass. I kind of wish i would have taken the same as hers. Her scallop tasted really good.
