Extremely cute and romantic ambiance. It's a smaller restaurant on the side of a road. Service was great even though we came late at night. We had seats at the window (which was more like a door). The wines were fun - I don't think port or brandy are my cup of tea but it was still fun to sample a few different options. Food wasn't my favorite, but my girlfriend loved everything. read more

This tiny little place blew our minds! We happened to walk by on a late night walk through the streets of Lisbon. We walked into this little wine bar and so happy to learn they had a table for 2 available by the window. We ordered 2 glasses of wine recommendations of the house, and both great choices based on our requests. We then shared the smoked mackerel my favorite dish, if you've never had smoked mackerel just know it's an acquired taste. I'd definitely recommend ordering it because the greens and bread toned down it down. We also shared what I can only describe as fried cheese. I totally forgot the name but a 10/10 in my book it was straight up fried fresh mozzarella extra fresh and extra delicious! Lastly we shared the steak and fried. This was the highlight of the dinner it was cooked in what seemed like a garlicy wine sauce and it was absolutely perfect! I didn't get a picture of it but the fries also perfect. Such a gem! If you can only go to one wine bar during your visit to Lisbon, this needs to be it. The place is small, and a bit hard to find-it's midway on a big staircase and google sent us on a long-explore to get here but it was definitely worth it. Because it's such a small place with the 6 tables mere inches apart, you are going to meet and talk with everyone-we had such fun talking with people (mostly Americans and Brits) while sampling the delicious Portuguese wines. Andre, the proprietor knows his stuff and can help you choose the wine or do what we did and try the white flight-4 glasses from across Portugal then do the red flight. The prices are so reasonable that you can't go wrong and my wife and I shared the flights then topped it off with a glass of reserva from the Douro valley for the whopping price of €5,90. We had the charcuterie platter and a slice of homemade chocolate cake-around €70 total. Easily the most fun we've had in our travels and I'd happily go back anytime. I'm so glad this place was open we visited! It's the cutest spot! We had the best seat. It's right on the window overlooking the steps. The owner is so kind. It was our first time having Portuguese wine, and we had no idea where to start! I love that the menu had it broken by region. We tried numerous wines from different spots. So much so we needed a snack! We had a soft buttery cheese and bread and then fried cheese. They were delicious! I would highly recommend going. LOVED this spot! Such a tiny, unassuming hole in the wall type place. Absolutely adorable. I think it only seats 18 people, with 4 at the bar. My friend and I went after having a fuller lunch and not needing a very heavy dinner. However - it was so delicious that we ended up indulging a bit. The owner was lovely, recommending wonderful wines and giving me tastes to my preferences. He hit the mark perfectly on the first try, and I had two different glasses after that because I wanted to try a bunch of different wines, and he was able to find exactly what I would like. In terms of food, we had the traditional chorizo which is a MUST - he cooks it in a dish that is lit on fire, cooking the chorizo. It's fun for presentation and the actual sausage was incredible. We also got the hake with vegetables which was great and light, with olives to start. This is also a very FRIENDLY restaurant, and our neighbors ended up giving us the rest of their shrimp since they were so full! That was definitely a nice little addition. The vibe of this place is just lovely and it's a great spot to hit on your trip to Lisbon. I would also recommend it for just a glass or two of wine with the chorizo and some bread as an afternoon/evening snack, or with a charcuterie board, which another table had and said was phenomenal. It was a drizzly, damp night when the two of us stumbled upon The Little Wine Bar. Craving a good cheese plate and local red wine to cap our night off, we were greeted by the owner at the doorway with a kind and welcoming invitation -- a stark contrast to the myriad others standing outside nearby restaurants with large, laminated menus calling after all passersby. Although small and relatively empty on our night there, we were ultimately very happy with our choice. As the owner explained the types and sources of the cheeses, as well as the regions and styles of Portuguese wines, it was clear this was an establishment born from a passion and a history in the wine business. OUTSTANDING food and service and, of course, wine. My family of four was lucky enough to get a table without a reservation. The restaurant is tiny--maybe table seating for about 16, and 4 bar stools. The waiter/host was warm and friendly and worked hard serving the entire restaurant. We started with the cheese, meat and pâté board, and it was exceptional, especially the rabbit paté, and wisely the server carefully avoided showing the bunny on the can (yes, CANNED) to our American children. Moved on to the cheese croquetas and we were all delighted. Pork confit was very good, and our least favorite was the cod dish, but I know we are in the minority on that. Stumbled across this little wine bar while wandering the neighborhood and decided to pop in for a glass of wine. The owner was very nice and welcoming and sat us at a table right by the open doors. While small, the wine list and bites provide quite an array of options for you to find the perfect wine that suits your palate. The owner is a sommelier and is happy to work with you to find wines that you'll enjoy. We ended up having a few glasses each and decided to share a bottle of Portuguese sparkling wine that was absolutely delightful. We also ordered the grilled sausage and prawns to go with the wine, which were also delicious! This lovely little spot has been around for just a little over a year. I asked for a wine recommendation, and whatever the red wine was that came back was fabulous and went very well with the meal. When we ordered dessert, we got a recommendation for port to go with it. We decided to share several small plates instead of getting an entree. A very nice variety and all were good. The smoked chorizo was an experience. He brought to our table before lighting the brandy on fire to smoke it right at the table. It was crisp on the outside and juicy inside. The prawns were excellent and a good sized portion. We also had a cheese board, prosciutto and some wonderful mushrooms. The gentleman serving was delightful and personable.
