Toast with quail eggs and beef

Small restaurant owned by a lovely couple who provided excellent service. I say excellent because that's the best service we have received in Lisbon compared to other places. However, we weren't a fan of the food. I think it was a bit let down given all the raving reviews. We tried two items and they both lacked a bit of flavor. Basic toast, cheese, and choice of toppings. We found the food to be bland (beef) and salty (mushroom).

Sonia, who learned to cook from her grandmothers, and Pedro serve an amazing spread of simple home cooking. We had the shrimp cooked in a broth of olive oil and garlic and served with croutons. Then mushrooms served with toast. Then Blood sausage served on toast with homemade tomato sauce. All delicious.

What a wonderful family-run restaurants. Simple food, but SO delicious. I haven't stopped talking about the Portuguese sausages and cured meat-- truly like no other! We can't get meats like that in the U.S.. The taste is unique, unlike any Italian sausage or cured meat. This small restaurant is run by husband and wife. The wife does all the cooking, and the husband explains the menu and recommends. We each got a meal, clams, and a bottle of good wine, and the total came to less than $30 euro! Incredibly cheap and so tasty. We loved this place, despite it being off the beaten path and a bit outside of the center. Highly recommend, but make sure you make a reservation! Cash only.

Traditional locally sourced food, fair prices on food and drinks, extremely accommodating owner who will explain the menu to you in detail. Overall great dining experience, the opposite of a tourist trap, highly recommend.

This place is perfect for a nice brunch in the sun, beautiful selection of cheese and meat for the perfect tapas with a wonderful selection of wine to pair with your meal! Would highly recommend, the hospitality is also unforgettable! Everyone was so nice!

Having experienced fado outside of Portugal I didn't feel strongly that it was a must-do, but when I found myself at night on the street that is known for fado I prioritized it. For the best fado experience I recommend an intimate space, hopefully crowded with people but also with a view to the performers. Tasca do Chico is exactly that place. The doorman told us that space was standing room only, at the (tiny) bar. From there we could see and hear the performers while ordering food and drink. We'd not been there long before we were offered an available seat at a table which caused us to order more food and drink and stay a little longer. The fado here is quite good, made even more enjoyable as the artists change quite frequently; a song or two and a new artist steps forward, all very talented and enjoyable to watch and hear. The fado places tend to have lines out the door and a doorman managing entry. A place across the street looked much bigger but the intimacy is, in my opinion, what makes the experience both unique and special. Even if you have to start at the bar, Tasca do Chico is a great place to experience fado.

On the bright side, I met some new friends in line, and honestly, it was worth it even though I hoped the wait was shorter. The drinks and performances were incredible and exceeded my expectations. It's a small place so the performances felt very intimate, what a memorable night! Just a heads up: they only take cash, so don't make the same mistake I did. Cheers!

The food across the board was excellent--every dish we tried was flavorful, well-prepared, and felt thoughtfully put together. You can tell there's real intention behind both the menu and execution. What really elevated the experience, though, was our waiter, Bernardo. He brought incredible energy to the table--full of personality, engaging, and genuinely fun to interact with. At the same time, his service was top-notch: attentive without being overbearing, helpful with recommendations, and clearly passionate about what he does. Great food is one thing, but when you pair it with service like that, it turns into a memorable experience. Highly recommend--and if you get Bernardo, you're in for a great time.

I had read in Yelp that lines could be long, but we arrived early. They have a little red rope at the door where they explain the rules. The interior is kind of eclectic. They have wines at three price points, we got a really nice bottle of red called Pops reserve. For the tapas, we ordered the assorted cheeses, octopus risotto, duck breast with chips (not normally on the menu), and ceviche. All were superb. We started with the duck and ceviche. The duck was braised perfectly and seasoned well, wonderful. Then the ceviche had swordfish and tuna. I am not normally a sword fan, but this was very tasty. Next up were the cheese and risotto. The risotto was incredible, buttery and delicious. The cheese plate had 5 cheeses of different intensity. All were great, particularly the goat ones. It came with a pumpkin jam which I had never had before, but was very good. I definitely recommend this place

This was our first stop on a food tour in downtown Lisbon. We started with a small beer. Our tour guide ordered everything and she said the sausage is paired well with the cheese and indeed was really good! The bifana sandwich is pork but called bifana because of the cut of meat. It looks plain but when it's fresh on soft bread goes well with honey mustard and Peri peri sauce for spice. We were staying close by and came back to order sandwiches but came during a time the workers were taking a break and eating. I later came back and the bifana alone for take out was super cheap. We wish we could have gotten it every day. There's little seating inside and there's typical outdoor dining where you can people watch while enjoying your refreshing beer and feeling the breeze and seeing the blue skies. I would recommend this place if you're in the area just for a quick snack!
