This is a first class wine bar with many many options of by the glass wine tasting. Wine is forefront in this restaurant, but they also have a menu! And they speak English, which was the draw for the party I was with. As could be expected, the wine did not disappoint. We ordered two bottles to share at the table, and the sommelier seemed disappointed that we were not going to do tastings. This was the last night of our journey, and we just wanted a nice dinner in a trusted restaurant. For dinner four of the five of us ordered the squid ink pasta served with prawns. I ordered the tender tentacles of octopus. The Pasta was an absolute hit with all of the ladies trying it! My tender tentacles were tender and my serving was enormous. My tentacles were enormous ! That was one big octopus. Plating, dining, and the wine and service is a five-star restaurant for sure. I am giving it four stars just because it was a little bit franchised feeling, and I prefer a slightly more authentic dining experience. This restaurant could have been in Paris, London, or Highlands Ranch Colorado. Although I don't think all of those places would've had the tender tentacles. Solid four-star restaurant! A wonderful Christmas surprise, and a real value. Finding a Christmas dinner location is never easy, so we didn't have high expectations for Sommelier Lisbon. To our delight, we had a wonderful Christmas tasting menu with excellent wine pairings. Food and wine of this quality are normally the stars, but they were both upstaged by our server for the evening. She was helpful, entertaining, very knowledgeable of wine and made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. Although this was a special holiday menu, I bet other evenings with their normal menu would be just as enjoyable. FYI, the restaurant has over 70 wines by the glass maintained in cruvinets. The best wine bar I think I've ever been to. Extensive, well described wine list, and you can pour your own wines (if you want) from a wine machine along the back wall. It's unusually well lit and the tables are surrounded by plush chairs. The staff is helpful and attentive, and have good recommendations. You can get tasting pours of many, many wines for under 2€, which is a lot of fun if you're a wine enthusiast. They have a whole page of port, Madeira, and moscatel, which we loved. We booked Sommelier Lisbon as we were traveling to Lisbon as part of our honeymoon and wanted a good restaurant for steak and wine. Despite the LONG and hilly walk from our accommodations near Commerce Square to the restaurant, we were delighted when we arrived. The chairs are incredibly comfortable and it has a wonderful relaxing ambiance. They have a great selection of local wines and great food selections. We each ordered steaks which arrived cooked to perfection and were very hearty in portion size. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We recommend this restaurant to couples looking for a nice night out, or business professionals looking for a good wine and steak. Despite its distance from the "center" of Lisbon, we certainly intend to return should we ever be back in Lisbon in the near future. read more

This place is amazing. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The octopus is out of this world. You get a little card to put in the wine machine and you can select the wine you want to drink. My three friends and I went to Sommelier and had the A Sensory Journey of Gastronomy and Wine. We had a fantastic time- the portions were generous, especially for a tasting menu and everything was so delicious. The pairings were spot on and the service was attentive and informative. The staff was very personable and made our dining experience memorable. With two wine enthusiasts and two wine beginners, the servers were able to teach us all more about wine in a very fun way and helped us find the options that suited us best. Service was great and before each course came out we had so much fun with Evil who helped us pick our our next wine to pair with the upcoming dish. Had the most wonderful birthday dinner here. Tasted close to a dozen wines with the great suggestions from Alnardo and Fernando. Intimate restaurant with food which is innovative but not at the expense of good authentic local tastes. Some of the new gastronomy chefs create art pieces which are beautiful and unique but not great food. This is the opposite. There were four accompaniments to the bread, including a Parmesan foam and a carbonara. All four were delicious and the textures added to the enjoyment of the flavors. Everything was fantastic but the pata negra ham with melón and the sea bass were standouts. The first was serves with a red salt we loved but couldn't identify-it was a ham flavored salt. The three salts on the table included black lava salt. The price was quite reasonable-each of us tasting several wines, plus a couple full glasses, appetizer and entree was under 65 Euro per person. In addition to the amazing food and huge variety of wine by the taste or glass, we enjoyed the assistance of Sandro, who was especially attentive and friendly. I can't wait to return. read more

This restaurant is a unique experience for sure. The food is great but you have the opportunity to try your wine before you commit... For about 1eu to can get a sample from their wine bar. They have more than 50 bottles to chose from and the owner/manager will walk you through the process. It is fun and educational if you enjoy wines. My wife's fish was a little salty and the owner fell over himself trying to make it right. We are tourists ...probably never to return but it is passion and service like this that will make them a mainstay ! Try them. read more

Hands down the best place we have dined this trip to Europe- We had no idea this place recently opened when we made our booking. The place is amazing. And it's not just "the food" or "the service" or "the atmosphere;" its all three that work so perfectly together that makes this experience one we will not forget. The owners have taken time to consider every detail (the wine glasses are all handmade). Five of us ordering many differing dishes could not easily come up with one favorite dish- but if I had to choose it would be the salmon tartar -the flavors from this dish (coriander pesto) explode in your mouth. A close second has to be the foie gras- Everything was great, including the 5 different desserts. Of course, the staff are amazing, friendly and very helpful on wine selection--the best understated and elegant Portugal wine we have ever experienced. 3 bottles of wine, 5 main courses along with starters, a couple of salads and 5 deserts for just over $300 euros! Went here last night for dinner on recommendation from our nearby hotel. We are so glad we did! The food was very good (especially the appetizers). But the real draw is the wine. This is really a 'concept' place, but Ricardo knows what he is doing. They have about 80 wine bottles from which you can choose a taste or a glass or anything in between. It works a bit like a vending machine but with very high end bottles. Daniella, our waitress, and Ricardo made recommendations based on our food choices, but encouraged us to try as many as we would like. Tastes are about 1 to 3 euros. Glasses equal about 5 tastes and are priced accordingly. We left there happy and satiated and would definitely return! read more
