This was a great vet for our dog. Our dog needed a tooth extraction and they took great care of him. The staff seems very helpful and very loving towards all their pet friends! We have since moved, but if ever we are back in the area, I would definitely bring my dog back to campus vet. read more

Wonderful office with incredibly kind, gently, and attentive Vets and Technicians. Our Family Loves Campus Vet!!

I had taken my dog, Mac, here for a slight emergency as he was feeling a little sick. They were able to get me in the next day with no problems. The front lobby was clean and the staff, super welcoming! Dr. Bourque was AMAZING! He gave me his undivided attention and explained every single step of the examination. He was extremely thorough and I felt confident with all the knowledge he was sharing. Mac is a happy little guy now and I'm so thankful to have taken him to Campus Vet. Clinic. I would absolutely recommend this place to take your pets! read more

I've only had an introductory visit with my cat so far, but I have a very good feeling about it. I decided to change from my previous longtime vet because it was too far away, but I also felt it had become too "corporate" (it's part of a huge organization), and Campus Vet is small and personal and actually gives better service. Dr. Lee was very thorough and caring; she took time to learn my old senior cat's previous history and build on what had been done and seemed very knowledgeable and gave me further suggestions. Her assistant Stephanie was there for the whole visit and was wonderfully skilful and loving in her handling. I was told that when I bring my cat back for a lab test by a technician she will be seen right away instead of having to wait all alone until a tech is available. When I came in I was a little concerned at the small waiting room for both dogs and cats together, but the staff seem ready to take care of any problems, and I was seen very quickly. And everything was less expensive! read more

We have been very pleased with Campus Vet's diagnosis of our poodle's long term stomach problems. After several expensive trips to another vet that gave us meds to treat the symptoms but never really addressed the underlying problem, Campus Vet made a diagnosis and put us on a treatment plan that has our dog much happier and healthier. No more hunger strikes, no more episodes of severe vomiting (and worse). She just eats her food happily and has a great energy level. It reaaly is a MAJOR improvement (knock wood) for the whole family! There was one expensive test as part of the diagnosis, but overall, we have saved money compared to the repeated band aid type treatment we were getting from the other vet. read more

My cat got sick a few days ago and after calling another veterinary office that 'couldn't take new clients until next week' I gave Campus Vet a call. They were able to see my sick cat that day and were very helpful. Dr. Yen had a quiet disposition (great for dealing with animals) and seemed knowledgeable. My cat generally dislikes everyone but me, but by the end of the visit (and after sticking a thermometer up her behind) she was purring as he scratched her back. He answered all of my medical questions and let me know when to call back and what they would do if the problem persisted. Also, I didn't find it that expensive at just over $100 for the office visit, parasite testing, and the food/medicine I was sent home with... I've been to much more expensive places. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend!! read more

Dr. Reid is great. Everyone here is friendly and takes their time explaining things. Definitely not a factory like some other vets in the area. read more

They're definitely a student friendly office. I took my rescued rat terrier in because he had suddenly developed some urinary incontinence. It wasn't a lot, but he would leak a little bit, and since I really didn't know his history at all (no documents, though has been healthy for the past 8 and half months I've had him), I was a little worried. The vet tech guy that picked up the phone to schedule my appointment was very polite. I had implied that money may be an issue, and he immediately informed me about the Yelp voucher. First thing I noticed walking into the office, it was clean. No smell at all! And there was nice welcoming feel in the waiting area. Despite being a few minutes late, the front desk lady was still very polite and nice about everything. The vet tech I talked to wasn't as polite, but she wasn't rude or anything. I kinda get what people say about Dr. Yen having bad bedside manner, but honestly, I feel like he's just a lazy talker. If you ask him pertinent/relevant questions, he listens and responds and answers them. You can also tell he loves animals. The moment he started interacting with my dog, he was constantly soothing him and making sure my dog didn't get anxious. It was all an all a pretty quick visit. Probably took me about half an hour total. Finishing up outside in the waiting room again, the front desk lady told me that I should try to come in on Wednesdays since there's a student discount that day. Good to know! The place is a bit on the expensive side compared to vet places I go to at home in SoCal, but it seems pretty much all the offices around here are relatively expensive. read more

Let me just say what an amazing experience next to the other vet we were going to. Dr Yen is full of great information especially for our little high maintenance delicate canine. He answered all of our questions and I, personally, did not feel rushed out of the room. I loved that he had his assistant there charting and adding up our bill before we even left the room. So we knew exactly what was being charged by the time we went to the counter. The prices here are pretty comparable to the other vets in the area and for the most part the staff is just lovely. Through the whole visit I felt like the fur baby was in such great hands. Dr Yen interacted with him so gently and spoke to him as well as us through his whole visit explaining everything he was doing. We had a TON of questions about: fleas (he has allergies to almost all meds), dry skin, a couple of little warts, and the biggest of all a second opinion about his leg surgery site (the surgery was done two years prior at a different location but he started limping again). Very informative and very gentle. XRays were done in a timely manner and the cost was nowhere near what I thought it was going to be. We left there with three prescriptions, an exam, and xrays for under $350. :) The only gripe I have about this place is the receptionist that day were complaining about how busy they were going to be having "two xrays" already this morning... I didnt see them get up to do the xrays so I am not sure why they were so "busy" worrying about having two "xrays" to do. The tech who worked with Dr Yen explained everything to us including the meds. The only thing the "busy" receptionist did was ring us up and take our payment. LOL it made laugh. Either way we will be back. Dr Yen called us regarding the xrays three days later (there was a weekend between) like he said he was going to do and referred us to a specialist for fur baby's leg. We are headed there next week... read more

I love these guys. They are very knowledgeable and obviously care about their patients. I've been impressed with the bedside manner of each vet I've seen. They're also very patient with my kitty, who in the past has turned into a bit of a hellion at the vet. (I remember one particular time when she ended up snarling in a corner) I recommend this place to my friends. read more

Wonderfully helpful, calm and knowledgeable vet techs and veterinarians. My dogs are staying healthy, benefiting from their vet visits and the doc's guidance. read more

It was okay. The staff at the front of the office were really helpful and nice but not very warm and welcoming. The doctor was so so. He had no bedside manner and not very friendly to us or our dog which seemed really strange. The facility also seemed really outdated. We're definitely going to a different vet. read more

If we lived here - we would go out of our way to find kind and loving care that we were afforded at Campus Vet. Dr. Reid and TJ helped treat our dog and the front staff made sure that our vet sent all the pertinent information about our puppy. In the treatment room, we found our pup put at ease with the kindness and interest in our pup that went way beyond 'treatment' and showed real care about how our pup was doing and what we needed to do after the care to assure he stayed safe after his little 'paw' accident. I am going to make sure our vet in Chicago knows about this center so bay area referrals from our vet will come here. If we are in the bay area, we will make the trek to Berkeley because of the kindness, care, and understanding that we received from Dr. Reid, TJ, and the folks in front. This is a great team! read more

We love CVC! I've been taking my dog here for almost 5 years and would recommend them to anyone! Appointments/Office Staff: I can request certain days/times online and always receive a prompt response and usually at least one of my requested date/time is available. Even a couple of years ago, when I needed an urgent appointment for an injury to my dog, I was able to see my Veterinarian the next day! Also, you receive email appointment reminders when your pet is due for certain vaccines/services. Upon arrival, the staff is always eager to see you and your pet, greets you as soon as you walk in the door and you're taken back to an exam room promptly. They are also good about all of the billing and paperwork when you leave. Very on top of the ball staff! Vet Techs: They are always friendly and take good care of my big, anxious dog! They ask good questions and do all of the intake evaluations thoroughly and efficiently. They assist Dr. Reid all along they way and I appreciate their tender loving care of my dog. Veterinarians: Dr. Reid is great with my dog. He's a big anxious guy. He started out (about 5 years ago) having to be muzzled pretty much upon arrival into the exam room because he was just so over-the-top anxious and afraid. Over the years he's received nothing but patience and kindness from Dr. Reid, irregardless of his anxiety/behavior. She understands and knows how to approach him and take good care of him. Just last week, he made it through the whole exam (minus the shots part, lol) without a muzzle (which he probably didn't need, just a precaution)! I trust Dr. Reid's professional judgement implicitly. Cost: I feel that CVC's fees for services are right on target. They are fair and affordable. read more

I've been taking my cats to Campus Vet ever since the legendary Charlie Berger owned and operated the clinic. He sold the practice to Dr. Yen a few years ago. Dr. Yen and his team are very kind, courteous and professional when dealing with sick pets and their worried owners. I recommend them without hestitation or qualification to anyone in the Berkeley area. Dr. Yen, Dr. Reid and the staff make a great team. They always take excellent care of our cats -- and of us. read more

Campus Vet is a friendly, professional, caring practice. I see Dr. Reid, and really think she is wonderful, however I have also seen Dr. Yen who I also really liked. They are both very animal friendly and smart. My dog Esme, who is 11 years old and doesn't warm quickly to new people (nervous), and never totally warmed to the vet she saw for 10 years, is fine there. Our first meeting with Dr. Reid she sat right down on the floor next to my dog and had a calm chat with me while gently running her hands over Esme. The exam was painless, and Esme actually followed Dr Reid out of the room! We have just returned from a teeth cleaning and everybody was so sweet, and gentle. On top of that I really feel that they do not over charge. They gave me an estimate for the cleaning ( with a $300 range), and not only did it come in at the bottom of the estimate Dr Reid also removed a growth, stitched it up, and biopsied a lump! I am very happy with them and recommend them highly. P.S. They are also great with my very old cat! read more

We have been taking our cats and dog to Campus for over 25 years. We were worried when our beloved vet sold his practice, but decided to see who the new vets were-- now more than 13 years ago. We have been very pleased with the results. They are very kind and all of the staff seem to have a genuine love of animals. They always make me feel that my pets are the most wonderful pets they ever saw, and they really care about their well being. They also don't always jump to the most expensive procedure if it is not necessary. read more

Dr. Reid & all of the staff at Campus Vet are extremely focused with giving the best personalized care for our pup. We have been with Campus Vet for over seven years & can honestly say that Dr. Reid is professional, compassionate & is medically brilliant when it comes down to the diagnosis and prognosis . We have lived in the Oakland area for over 25 years & Campus Vet truly offers the finest veterinary care. ....and they have ALWAYS accommodated to find an appointment time when we have had serious issues happen. read more

Dr. Reid was friendly and shows her love for the animals. The staff is friendly but the vaccines cost a bit more than in other places in Berkeley and parking is tiny. read more

I've previously been to Broadway Pet Hospital and felt dissatisfied with their pet care, so I yelped a place to get my cat Momo checked out. Thanks for curing my kitty! I will definitely be bringing Momo back to this place in the future! read more

Friendly, competent, professional staff. All around great experience for our Hamster and us.

In the nearly 5 years we had been taking our cats here we received excellent care and service. We had experience with three different doctors, all of which were knowledgable, friendly, and compassionate. My experience with the technicians was generally pretty good, some were better than others. One truly wonderful staff member even became our cat/house sitter! We have since moved out of the area, and will very much miss bringing our cats here for their care. Would definitely recommend this clinic. read more

I am so happy we found Campus Veterinary Clinic! I can only say positive things about this vet and our experience. They made our visit calm for our cat and all of the staff was so friendly and helpful. We have gone to many vets and specialists in the Berkeley area, but our experience here was so much more than we expected considering we are taking a car to a vet!! We won't be going to any other vet in Berkeley ever again. They clearly care about your pet's quality of life, don't put your pet and you through unnecessary testing, and understand worried pet parents. And to top it off they have VERY fair prices for the Bay Area (And just CA in general). read more

When you call in to fax something, or ask when your cat's next appointment is, the people on the phone are very helpful... carmelita, i believe was her name, was very nice and very straitforward and fast, and she gave me my cat's records immediatley. we live really close to them and have been with them for years, so Thank You Campus vet! Dr. Reid was on vacation when my dog got sick so I took an appointment with Dr. Parsley. I hadn't meet her before but she is also wonderful. Thorough, kind, and knowledgeable. I was so surprised to receive a call from her today responding to a question I had asked the receptionist. I hadn't expected that but love that she shows genuine interest in my pup. My dog was due for shots when I took him in but they didn't want to give them to him while he was sick. They offered me a free appointment with a vet tech to come back and get his shots when he was feeling better. I love that! Its not the first time that I have needed to take him back for a followup of some sort and they have offered me an appointment with a vet tech so that I don't need to pay for another office visit and/or exam. Speaking of vet techs, S.J. rocks! Love her too. read more

Great clinic! Dr. Parsley and Rachel (vet tech) are awesome, and my dog loves them. Dr. Parsley actually got on the ground to check out my dog, so he didn't even realize he was at the vet! She explained everything and took the time to answer my questions thoughtfully. When they brought him out after vaccines and microchipping, his tail was actually wagging! This is much different than other experiences I've had, so I was quite impressed. I have no prices to compare, but they certainly didn't push additional services on me. They were also very efficient, and the office is clean and welcoming. We've definitely found our veterinary home! read more

I've taken my cat there several times. Our doctor was Dr. Parsley. The staff is super great and kind. The doctor always rushes us a bit.

We moved to the Bay Area from Nashville a little over a year ago and needed to find a new vet for our dog and cat. We tried VCA on Solano last year and we were not pleased! That's all I'll say. So, on the advice from our neighbor we decided to give Campus Vet a try. We got an early morning appointment on Saturday. We arrived early and were seen as soon as we finished our paperwork. The vet tech Chris was awesome! He was really nice and seemed to really have a love for animals. He gave us some information about a particular vaccine that is being used in Berkeley right now but didn't push us to get it. He asked lots of questions and gave great feedback. Dr. Reid was great! She is so good with animals and you can tell she really cares about them. She answered all of our questions. Our dog was more behaved than she's ever been at the vet! We had concerns about some fatty lumps on her and Dr. Reid tested all three of them right there to make sure they weren't something serious. Thankfully, they are just fat! She didn't gouge us on the price either. Overall, I am beyond thrilled with Campus Vet. I've always dreaded having to find vets, dentists, etc when moving to a new area but I couldn't be happier with Campus Vet. Thanks to all the staff there for making it a great experience!!! read more

I am super happy with Dr. Reid and team and know my cat is in good hands with them. Dr. Reid is very knowledgeable and works well with my senior kitty who is also generally very afraid of people. She identified her asthma and food allergy, allowing me to make simple changes that help my cat be happier and healthier. The team is also very conscious of expenses. When the price of my cat's medicine went up dramatically, they called me ahead of time to let me know so that I would have time to explore other places I might be able to get it cheaper (like Costco) instead of buying it directly from them. It is always a pleasure visiting Campus Veterinary and I always recommend them to people! read more

We've been taking our pets to Campus Veterinary Clinic for 30 years and through it all - ownership changes, veterinary staff changes, and office staff changes - the clinic has been consistent in its warmth, caring, and true love for the animals. They saved the life of our cat after she was viciously attacked by a dog, they compassionately ushered another elderly and ailing cat from this life, they kept our beloved dog going as long as possible after a brain tumor diagnosis, and, in between, they've treated other full- and part-time canine residents of our home with efficiency and kindness, holding my hand when necessary and providing telephone support when appropriate. I think it says something when the dogs they've treated try to detour to the clinic door when we're walking by. I recommend them without reservation. read more

I've been going to Campus Vet for five years, and they are professional and care about animals. Dr. Reid is fantastic. She's vey knowledgeable and sensitive to the owner's concerns. I recently had a near miss with my dog. Dr. Reid made an astute observation, which not only brought my dog back to health quickly, but also saved me a lot o money in the long run with the treatment plan for my dog. Sure, it's a drag that we don't have pet insurance, and that we have to pay cash for our animals, but my dog brings me tremendous joy. I don't make a lot of money, but I have no problem supporting a good vet whose main goal is to keep my animals happy and healthy. I'll keep going to Dr. Reid. read more

I am SO grateful to the vets here! I had to call first thing in the morning for a cat emergency, thinking my cat could be poisoned from eating very toxic flower pollen. The clinic fit me into their very busy schedule and were so warm and friendly, making me and kitty feel so safe and in good hands. In addition to the vet's excellent bedside manner, they took the time to clearly and thoroughly explain kitty's current condition, asked good questions, and were very clear about the treatment plan options. I met with two vets, both of whom were so caring and explained every part of the exam and the next steps. Kitty needed bloodwork to check his kidneys and estimates of costs were provided for me every step along the way. Their prices are fair and I like that they provided costs for everything in advance, so I would never feel blindsided. Everything was explained and after his bloodwork cleared (about 30 minutes - thankfully for their onsite lab) kitty was free to come home. They provided aftercare instructions and told me what to watch for at home. Their prices are fair and everyone from the receptionist to the technician to the vets were so calm and loving. I could feel that they truly felt for my kitty's well-being and that meant the world to me at such a stressful time! THANK YOU to Campus Vet Clinic! read more

I recently moved to the bay area. My dog was due for his shots, so I looked up vets on yelp and found Campus Veterinary Clinic. When we first got there, my dog started acting strange...as in, playing and acting happy and excited in the waiting room. He is usually very shy and timid. We saw Dr. Reid and she was wonderful! My dog seemed like her just as much as he liked the waiting area. Dr. Reid and the vet tech were very good with my dog. I appreciated the fact that they knew how to treat him, seeing that he has such a shy, timid demeanor. I think he actually wagged his tail for them. He didn't act scared. Most importantly, Dr. Reid didn't act like I was wasting her time by asking her a boatload of questions. I will definitely be taking both my cat and my dog here for years to come. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I cannot believe some of the mean and negative things said about Dr. Yen. I find Campus Veterinary Clinic to be highly professional, caring, and extremely knowlegeable and I cannot thank Dr. Yen enough for all he has done for my cat. After seeing other vets who charged outrageous fees to treat Chloe's inflammatory bowel disease, Dr. Yen recommended Pepcid and it has made all the difference in the world. Chloe and I both appreciate his kind bedside manner and calming voice. He has taken my phone calls when I've been in a panic and always follows up with phone calls after visits. We love Dr. Yen and his staff! read more

There is a motto painted on the front of the clinic building that says something to the effect of "Your pet is our pet." My little Bianca is a 6 year old orange Tabby who is just the sweetest. But, she is not so used to be around people as she is an indoor cat. This clinic really treated her so well. Dr. Parsley knew just what to do to calm her down. I was really impressed with the care that Bianca received here. This clinic even has a very small parking lot right in front of the clinic. If you have an early appointment, you will get rock star parking! I am so glad I chose this clinic to be the place my cat will get all her medical attention. I would definitely suggest this clinic to friends. read more

I switched to Campus Vet after a frustrating and unprofessional experience at another Berkeley vet clinic. Right away I liked the chill and unpretentious feel of the place. Dr. Yen saw my previous dog through middle and old age with, and came to my house to put her to sleep...Both Dr. Yen and Dr. Reid have seen my now 5-year-old beastie. I've had only positive experiences with the front desk staff, the techs, treatment and advice, including recommendations not to waste money on a test because it's not all that accurate or a gentle reminder to brush the dog's teeth and avoid a dental bill. Yep, vet bills in the Bay Area are appalling. Just like rent and (human) health care and car insurance and gas. read more

Beware!! Please take my advice and go elsewhere - Unless you like to spend thousands on unnecessary (synthetic, harmful) vet care. My puppy was a little dehydrated from being a little carsick and the vet wanted to give him a water injection and "medicines"! WATER INJECTION! I refused and took my pup elsewhere. My new vet said nothing was wrong with him at all. I recommend Healthy Pets in SF or Montclair Vet Hospital. Spending hundreds of dollars on your loved one does not equate to good health, nor does it mean that you love your pet Please question your vets actions at all times read more

This is actually a positve review but it takes a little while to get there. We have been using Campus off and on for almost 20 years (back to the Berger days) and were pretty over the place. seemed the various changes in regime had been going from bad to worse. We didn't like the staff -they were cold, uncaring, seemingly arrogant, judgemental overcharging putzes who made me swear after every increasingly infrequent visit that i would never go back again. Last time i went there, a couple years ago was for an emergency. I was sitting in the waiting area with my cat in one of those cardboard carriers when the inner door opened and an owner, a staff person and a large dog on a leash came out. The dog headed straight for my cat's box. I said something to the effect of "Hey! Hey! HEY! Pull your dog back!" but the owner did nothing and the staff person watched as my cat in the box freaked out and literally erupted from the top of the closed box. This all took place in a matter of seconds. I tried to grab/scruff the cat but the full grown, quite strong male cat was in serious fight or flight mode and scratched and bit into my hands. I would have just let go by the two people just stood there with the dog still at the box and both the inner and exterior doors open! as I said this took just seconds to happen. Finally they pulled the dog back and i stuffed the cat back in the box, my hand starting to pour blood. The dog owner seemingly indignant at all the fuss says "She wasn't going to hurt your cat! She just wanted to smell!". "Were you expecting the cat to know your dog's intentions?!" i was pissed. The staff person shuffles me and the cat into one of the back rooms where I try to clean the bite wound in a sink and wrap my hand with gauze. They off erred me no help. I had to ask for disinfectant. When someone finally came in to see me, I was offered no apology for the incident. If my cat hadn't needed to be looked at, I would have left immediately. The only acknowledgement came when the tech recommended I get a shot of antibiotic for my wound. They treated the entire thing as if it never happened. The service for the cat was as cold (and expensive) as always. I had to go to Kaiser for my hand (which started showing signs of infection within hours), see my doctor ($20), go to the lab for the shot ($25) and lose a half day of work... But that was several years ago and things have changed at Campus. I don't know why we decided to try again but we did. We like the new staff and Dr Bourque was great. They're welcoming, positive, respectful, caring and don't talk down (at least to us). Vets are expensive but for once we didn't feel like they were only concerned with trying to make their mortgage payment. Once again, Dr Bourque was wonderful. We really like him, and the tech (can't recall her name -tall, dark hair with a streak of blue?) was also smart, informative, sympathetic. Just the way we would hope professional human beings would be. read more

I was a huge fan of Campus Vet. I even wrote them a glowing review a few years ago but my experience has since changed. About 3 months ago I brought my dog in because he was peeing in the house, which was so out of character for him, obviously something was wrong. Well, after the vet examined him and ran $400 in test I was told it was likely "all in his head." This was later repeated to me via a phone call from the vet about a week later. The vet was cold and non-emotive about the whole thing. He even seemed a little annoyed. I stuck with what the vet said and watch as my poor dog decline in health to a point where he was suffering. There was something wrong then and really I wasn't taken seriously. We had to put my dog down last week, with major health stuff going on. It wasn't "all in his head." Another issue -- I called Campus when I knew my dog was suffering and needed to be euthanized. They gave me a really hard time about it and asked me some pretty prying questions about how I knew my dog was at the end of his life. Needless to say they made me feel guilty and horrific about a terrible experience anyway. We ended up taking him to a different vet to be euthanized, where they were supportive and so kind about the whole thing. I am so disappointed about my experience at Campus and would never take a pet there again. read more
