Dr. Brown's patients: Murphy (8), Dixon (14.5), and Helena (13). Healthy and happy because of Dr. B and Ms. Chelsea!
Helena M.

Another 5 star visit this week, every visit is 5 stars, and I am sure we had hundreds of visits! My eldest (15 years in October) was suddenly rushed to the ER on 7/17. Doctor Brown immediately called me prior to leaving for the ER, he told me where to go. We walked in the er and Dr. Brown called to speak to the ER vet, my eldest has one of the worst cases of IMHA (he is now in remission), and he is only alive because of Dr. Brown. We were diagnosed with pneumonia in the ER. This week we had a follow up with Vesta and as usual they were amazing. Dr. Brown and Chelsea spent so much time with us, they viewed my dog playing at home, in his environment, instead of viewing him in a cold exam room. We did do more fluids, which did not bother my guy one bit, look at that smile! My dogs are my children, and will never trust anyone with them besides Dr. Brown and Chelsea. #parkour

Sylvie!

I cannot believe my good fortune in finding Vesta Vet. I do not have a car, and my dog won't jump up into one. Doctors Brown and Alpern are excellent doctors and great people. Dr. Brown first thoroughly evaluated Sylvie's health; he also performs tests and procedures--normally done at an office--in your home. They also have a clinic on Solano, so they are truly full-service. Sylvie has had two bouts of vestibular disease and also was exhibiting orthopedic pain and a lot of anxiety, as her hearing and sight have declined with age. Dr. Alpern has been using acupuncture and herbs, which clearly have helped a lot, and because Sylvie is 13+, we are giving her Librela, which has resolved her pain. (They are prescribing Librela in only very limited situations.) I am deeply grateful to have their expert assistance, and I am pleased to report that both Sylvie and I are now doing well.

Cats

This is a fantastic Vet Service! Adam & Chelsea are extremely professional and a very caring team. It would be a lot more stressful to have to put my cats in a carrier take them in the car to a strange place, and then have their procedures performed. My cats were able to get their exams and vaccinations in the comfort of their own home. The cost is the same and maybe even less than traditional Vet Clinics so why would I add more stress on my Pets? I highly recommend this service to any person who doesn't want to stress out their fur babies. Thanks Vesta Vet!! ‍

Sweet Wally. You'll be missed
Corlyn D.

Dr. Brown and Chelsea came to my home to euthanize my cat Wally. We've had him almost 18 years so you can imagine how hard it was. It was so very hard but Dr. Brown was so sensitive and patient with the process. He thoroughly explained our options for us, and let us know what to expect. He gave us time alone to say our goodbyes with our beloved Wally while he was sedated, and told us to take all the time needed till we went on with the procedure. I highly recommend allowing your animal the love and dignity to have Dr. Brown do it in a calm manner. We are grateful for his service!

What more can I say than Thank You Dr Brown and Chelsea. As our dog Pantone has aged he has grown ever more weary of going to the vet. On the recommendation of a friend we explored in home care for Pantone and Yelp helped us find Dr Brown. The experience has been great! This 13 year old is getting the care he needs while making sure he's comfortable in his aging experience. After all thats what its all about Care and Comfort. Thank you both for your caring and knowledgeable advice. Check out Pantones full life at @pantoneismydog

My Dane blissed out during his acupuncture treatment.
C F.

Dr. Brown and Dr. Alpern are the BEST. They have basically saved my very old Great Dane and are helping him to live the last of his years in a pain free joyful existence. I cannot be more grateful. They come to my home which is so much less stressful for both of my dogs. And recently Dr. Alpern started doing acupuncture on my Dane and it seems to be helping him greatly. I just can't recommend Vesta Veterinary enough!

"Old fogey", I was beginning to think. There's hope! I just had my first appointment with my two dogs -- a full on 80 lb. Rhodesian Ridgeback and a mutt half her size. I didn't have to wait weeks for an appointment, either. Just walking in the waiting room felt different. The staff so polite. The system well set up. Nobody waiting long periods just to pay the bill! Clients helping me with the door, my hands busy with leash and cane. The examination room was spotless. Various staff of different specialities were universally patient, precise, willing to listen, had good questions and gentle with both dogs. Approached each slowly enough to become a friend, establishing trust. Good eye contact. Not a single fault among any, including the Vet herself. I see that there are complaints regarding tests and charges. My former vet used the same amounts so I suspect the big jump is universal and has to do with updated science. Likely the outside lab that does the tests is in control of those prices but for markup. My former service providers were definitely odd about my refusing the second round of repeated tests for a condition that is incurable "just to see" rather than renew a prescription from their own service given a little over a month ago that worked perfectly. They then handled my cancer ridden dog roughly twice -- the second time staring directly at me. Of course, this brought on more lesions within hours with this histamine-oriented cancer. But I digress. This new vet does not deserve the distrust I see in the comments. You know, we always learn more about the critic than about the topic. Resistance to antibiotics is a multi species danger that has increased tremendously in the past several decades. Confirmation is a major way to guard all mammals and other species from antibiotics becoming entirely ineffective for all of us. Over the counter antibiotics contribute too. If there isn't a regulation already for testing, there should be. In the mean time, my new vet has prescribed what is likely ok -- but must be sure -- antibiotic until the test results come through. Since urinary tract infections are dangerous for the elderly (again, humans and other mammals alike are at increased risk) this is the professional, medically sound approach. Lastly, I'll remark on the follow up email and phone call. So impressive. Making sure (since the email asked for a response) that I had received it (such a polite way to put it), a phone message was recorded during a meeting I was attending. I read the original email and returned the call. Everything is settled, a prescription is filled and awaiting pickup. That's real care for the dog involved and an efficient, reasonable system. So maybe I'm not an old fogey in this area after all. Thought myself spoiled as the childhood vet was head of Ohio State University Vet school in Columbus. There are still vets who are patient, professional, honest and who have good bedside manner... Yay!

Kind staff, but a frustrating and disorganized urgent care experience…read more Our visit took about 1.5 hours. Even though we completed intake over the phone, we were asked to fill out the same information again on paper, and we weren't seen until ~15 minutes after our scheduled time. We also spent a long time waiting due to a lepto test. We were initially told results could take up to 30 minutes and that the assistant would check with Dr. Holliday to see if we could leave and come back. About 20 minutes later, we were told we only needed to wait 10-15 minutes total--by then, we had already waited most of that time unnecessarily. Follow-up was the most frustrating part. The front desk was responsive through the online portal, but not helpful--they repeatedly said they would "leave a note for the doctor" or were "waiting for the doctor to finalize their notes." We later found out test results were available on Tuesday but weren't released to us until Thursday. For an urgent care visit, this delay felt unacceptable. We requested SOAP notes and lab results on Monday for insurance purposes and had to follow up multiple times to get documentation that should have been readily available. The medical care itself seemed thorough, but the administrative side was lacking. Given the cost (urgent care exam alone was $147), I expected a more efficient and timely process. Overall: kind staff, but poor follow-through and delayed communication. For urgent care, I expected a much greater sense of urgency.

They patiently endured all kinds of rudeness, borderline harassment, and ungrateful treatment from owners who were clearly stressed about their animals. It was very obvious that everyone who works here has the safety and health of the animals in mind, even when the adults are less than grateful. Everyone whose pet was stable was seen in order, which took some time because while we were there they got 2 different animals who required emergency treatment and were immediately rushed back. While we were waiting the staff chatted with us and generally made us feel really welcome. The vet was very clear and understanding about what was going on with our dog and we left with the right treatment and medicines. She is now feeling much better.

They really took care of my girl in oncology but she didn't make it. They provided clear expectations on the quality of life for my two elders girls and helped me make the right decisions to put them to rest. My youngest cat, who we only had for less than two years, has shown sign of chronic gastrointestinal issues and every time we've take him in, they weren't as compassionate. Within his less than two years of life, he's been to the ER for the same symptoms four times. Three were at PETs. We chose to bring him here because of our past experience with our girls. For his care here, the vets were evasive and push incredible expensive diagnostic that didn't actually solve the issue. Every single time they just gave him pain meds after blood work and radiology showed nothing wrong. We didn't want to say anything, but Dr. Peterson seemed to be on a stimulant or some kind of meds while she spoke to us. She kept repeating the same questions over and over after we answered them and was talking a mile a minute and continously interrupting us. It was jarring. She wouldn't refer us to a specialist or internal medicine unless we wanted to pay even more. This is very predatory. Thankfully, we brought him to another facility for the same situation when we couldn't make it to PETs. After gathering records from that office and PETS, this facility called me and sent me a list of internal medicine practices I could take my cat to. They did this without forcing us to come in or saying they couldn't do it unless we did more procedures. They got back to me the same day with his records. This is a stark difference from how we were treated at PETs. PETs didn't send his records for several days. They spelled my name wrong several times after asking me multiple times how to spell it and continued to say they could help us further unless we wanted to pay more. They have become a money-grabbing predatory practice. And I can only say this with confidence because of the stark difference on how we were treated at PETs vs the other facility. As a pet owner, that level of compassion means a lot. Veterinary emergencies can be overwhelming, and being treated with patience and understanding made the entire experience so much less stressful. Ben may have been a little dramatic today but he came home safe, cared for, and already acting like himself again (especially after snacks).
