After a wonderful long day at the Black Canyon of The Gunnison we found this place on yelp and the reviews looked pretty good. It turns out it's not far from our hotel. Place looked nice on the outside and hoped we weren't under dressed. But it is pretty casual and even though they were closing in an hour we never felt rushed. Some people came in after even. They have a bar but we didn't order any drinks. It was very nice inside and they had tables and booths. It was quiet as it was a Monday evening. The menu had a good variety and we both ordered the elk burger with different toppings and one with sweet potato fries the other with onion rings. Both cooked to medium and the sweet potato fires and onion rings simply delicious. The coating on onion rings very light which is what we like. We saved room for dessert since we had a long day. A San Juan Mudslide pie and chocolate creme brûlée. Both were really good. Creme brûlée wasn't what I expected just had chocolatey layer on bottom and regular creme brûlée on top. The server was friendly and attentive enough and accidently forgot to charge us the dessert. She was thankful for our honesty. We left super full and satisfied. Will be back if we are ever in the area.

This was our first time here and we were really pleased. The service was incredible, food and drinks came out quickly and overall we liked everything. We are excited to go back again and try new things.

We decided to give this place a go after visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. The weather was still seasonable, so we sat outside on the patio which was a very cute space. There were some happy hour specials, so we tried an appetizer with potato, pork and green chili. I had some questions about the beer menu, and our server admitted he was not a beer-drinker, but he offered to grab me a sample, which was appreciated. The drink menu seemed fairly priced and they had some seasonal cocktails featured as well. For dinner two of us got pasta dishes (Shrimp Chimayo, and the Sonoran Steak with Chipotle Alfredo), and one of us got a burger. I heard another server highly recommend the New Mexican food after we ordered, so I think that may be a good way to go. (I had an upcoming trip there myself so didn't think to do that). The shrimp in my pasta was really well cooked, but I had to request some chili flake to add because it didn't pack much of a punch (the chipotle alfredo sauce on the other dish by contrast was pretty tasty). I did notice as the meals progressed some servers were more attentive & experienced than others. That said, all things considered, this was a pretty enjoyable and unique meal on our trip.

Wow! Our food was really good. Some of the tastiest rellenos I've ever had. Breading was light, crispy and flavorful Service was impeccable. Our server, Nate, was friendly, attentive and engaging. Restaurant is clean, comfortable and nice enough for date night, family-friendly too. Menu options are vast, something for everyone. Highly recommend!

I'm sorry but this place is a no go for me after eating there last week. Steak ordered medium rare, came out more well done barely medium. For $42 for 12 oz on beef, we told our server that it was overcooked, when the manager came over he said "what would you like me to do about it?" Ughhh... what? Cook a new steak to the right temp! Also server told us "we don't make martinis often, so we need to get glasses from the back." Queue a 20 min wait for two margs (which were tiny) and martinis. Also got the enchiladas, which were pretty decent, so if you do go here, that's alright but the chili rellenos... over breaded, all cheese and extra greasy. But the option to get "pezole" that's that glob you can see in the middle is not like any other pezole I've had before. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

Food and service was great. Also liked the ambiance. I would eat here more if I lived closer.

The food was good. I'd say overpriced for the portion sizes. Staff are phenomenal. Dining area is very clean.

We also did some shopping in the boutique area where they had a great selection of gifts, candles and hats. Nice spot for a casual lunch, but if you're looking for table service or something fancier, this is not the place. Very much like a cafe with an adjoining boutique and candle factory. With my last day in Montrose, I wanted to go to a good local restaurant before I head out on a long…read moreroad trip. I was greeted and seated pretty quickly. Was asked if I wanted water and coffee, got coffee with creamer. Coffee was hot and good. My waitress came by to asked what I wanted to order but I needed a few more minutes to look over the menu. After . A little while she came back by and ordered 2 eggs, hash brown, biscuit and I wanted a side of sausage, she said the order comes with 2, so 2 links....and a side of green chile sauce. At no time did she write anything down.....not a good thing. She tried to say if I ordered another combo of a breakfast meal, it would be better deal. I said no thanks, I would like what I ordered. After a few minutes I hear her talking to a co worker about me and complaining and saying I tried to get her a better deal and she chose the more expensive one. After a few minutes she gave me my biscuit and I told her she should really not talk bad about her customers when they are within an area where they can hear you. She apologized and tried to reassure me the reason why she was trying to get me to go with the other menu option. I told here I looked over the whole menu and that is what I wanted and how I wanted it. She understood and walked away. After a while my food came and it was all that I ordered except.....the chile. Not writing things down with usually result in a mistake of forgetting something. My waitress came by to fill up my coffee, more creamer and never said anything about forgetting my side of chile. After I was done she got me my ticket and then let me know she appreciated me saying something to her and setting her straight. She got a tip but it was not what I would usually leave due to her behavior. Hope if I ever go back it will be better service.

I mean, we could not get enough. If you ever get a toast, make sure to ask for their fruity syrup. It's just WOW. Also, get their bacon - Starvin' Arvin's can make bacon right. Everything else is alright. We came in hungry and wanted a bit of everything. While we enjoyed their bread, pancakes and French toast, it seems like we ordered the weakest dishes in the joint. The chicken fried steak, hash browns and green chili omelet were okay. The steak and hash browns were lacking flavor on their own, so you really had to make it your own by adding seasoning or getting a touch of extra gravy. The green chili omelet has a lot going on. It's pack full of a variety of flavor, but when one component doesn't work, it's like the whole dish struggles because you can't pick it out of the dish. The place felt like an old-school diner which is something to appreciate. It has a nice parking lot around the location, and it's rowdy in the morning like you'd expect from a place like this.
