This place on downtown Montrose Co, just outside Black Canyon National Park was a phenomenal dinner. It has those trendy aluminum chairs that are just the most uncomfortable seats that are all the rage with all Modern Breweries and BBQ places. But if you can snag a table with booth like seating you are golden. I had the Pork chop with the beef tallow fries instead of the Sweet potatoes and the Bacon Colar greens. The pork chop has perfect, thick cut, seared, with a complementing glaze that was delicious. My wife has the Shalla Love with added chicken as protein. Served with Naan. She thought it was great well seasoned and flavored not too spicy hot. My sister in law had the special of chicken pot pie and she raved about it. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan off of the Order at the Bar you see in Breweries and the pay upfront. As this dinner was certainly worth every penny it was my first time in and I found myself in a gamble. Luckily it was great. read more

But, I'm not really breaking my rule because they also have their flagship restaurant in Ridgway, which we've been to many times! So, with all that being said...LOVE their new location in my city of Montrose! YAY for us and our local community! Loved the décor, ambiance, staff and service was beyond! Some people don't care for the whole counter service ordering, but dang! Our food and drinks came out so quickly!!! Here's the rundown on what we ordered: 2 - 8 oz grilled hanger steaks with chimichurri, mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. 66 Burger with local grass fed beef, American cheese, organic greens, tomato, green onion, 66 sauce, pickles on a brioche bun with a side of fries. Southern draw with blackened shrimp, yellow corn Parmesan polenta, applewood bacon collard greens, charred corn salsa with smokey tomato broth. Drinks were also good and came out quickly...traditional Old Fashion, Moscow Mule a Chardonnay and glass of iced tea. Welcome to the hood Eatery 66 North! WOW! Okay people this place rocks. Driving to the Grand Mesa from Salida and needed a place to eat / get the kids a break. We ordered ahead (called right at 5) and it was ready 20 min later. The line was out the door when j walked in. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and I'd love to sit at the bar- another time! We took the food to a nearby park (also cute for the record) and LOVED IT. Recommend: fish tacos, pork belly Sammy, mac and cheese w chicken, crab bites, and Cajun fries. When I arrived in Montrose, I wasn't quite sure what the town had to offer. After browsing Yelp, I came across Eatery 66 North. After reading their story, I knew it was a place I wanted to try, and learning that Chef Spencer had worked with Thomas Keller gave the restaurant even more credibility! The restaurant was absolutely adorable and perfectly on brand. While I really would have preferred traditional table service, their ordering system worked just fine. I ordered the Steak Frites, and the red wine demi-glace was outstanding. The truffle Parmesan fries were equally delicious. My only disappointment was that the steak arrived a bit cold. I was hungry, and they were busy, so I chose not to send it back. I also got a bit of an unexpected arm workout trying to cut my steak with the knife they provided. They might want to invest in some sharper steak knives--that would honestly be my only critique. Aside from that, everything else was an A+. I'd definitely recommend giving Eatery 66 North a try. read more

Coming to a small town from Vegas, I never know what to expect for a good food experience. Eatery 66 is nothing short of PERFECTION! A beyond cute, quaint little spot- starting from the beginning where you place your order at the bar. I LOVE that the water, silverware & "fixings" are do-it-yourself It bites the vibe perfectly. Then, the food.... perfectly flavored/tenderized pork belly. Salads are filled with fresh, local ingredients. And the drinks match the vibe- homemade margarine lox and delicious wine from France. This restaurant has been open less than two months and we have eaten there 8 times...safe to say we love it! Excellent service and excellent food! The space is inviting and fun! Sharlas love is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. My husband's is the shrimp and polenta. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. This local family has brought something extra special to Montrose! Thank you! The one thing I would change is the cold air that comes through the front entrance. We went in on our anniversary hoping to find a great new local restaurant after seeing so many great reviews. We arrived as soon as they opened and they opened about 5 minutes late. We were the 3rd in line and our order was taken. We had a seat and waited for cocktails to arrive but they never did. My husband went back up to the person who took our order and asked about our drinks and he made them and brought them out promptly. We sat and waited for our food to arrive only to watch everyone around us get there food, even people who ordered 20 minutes after us. We finally gave up. No one ever checked on us and apparently our order was never sent to the kitchen. An apology would have sufficed but we only got excuses about computers and mistakes happen. WHATEVER! I love Eatery 66 in Ridgway so was excited to try the new location in Montrose. The burger was delicious but the Nashville Hot was NOT! It was described as fried chicken with a hot honey glaze and an apple cider Fresno chile slaw. The slaw tasted like red cabbage drenched in AC vinegar. I did not detect any Fresno chiles and had to remove the slaw from the sandwich. Once I did that, I could not detect any heat in the chicken. Maybe the hot honey glaze was in the slaw? Not sure. I'll go back but will not order this again as it wasn't even close to the Nashville hot chicken you get in Nashville. read more

It's communal seating you order at the bar for drinks as well as food. They are extremely slow and seem to be disorganized. The couple we were worth got their food before we ever got drinks. We finally got drinks only to have to go to the bar and get our own ice after asking several times there's no condiments on the table. You have to go get those yourself as well. Our food finally came and it didn't have all the food on the plate that they said it did they put Demi glaze over the top of french fries so they were soggy. The vegetables are supposed to come with it. They left them off the plate. I believe the service in McDonald's is more efficient. Nice atmosphere, but I would never go again. read more

Dont know how the food is. We were the 3rd people to order drinks and food for the night. We never got our drinks and had to go up and ask for them. We were patient and waited for food, but saw everyone around us, that came in much later than us, starting to get their food orders. Finally went to get my credit card that we had left with them for a tab, and wanted to cash out. We agreed to pay for the drinks, but was disappointing our food order was never placed in their system. Our order taker, since you had to go to the counter to place your order, never even apologized, nor did the employee that was then waiting on us. So disappointing, and not a fun way to spend an Anniversary dinner. Will never go back, and shows how sad the service industry has become. read more

This was our first time at Eatery 66 and it wasn't what we expected. When you enter the restaurant there is no one there to greet you, so know you need to walk towards the back to order at the counter before finding a seat at one of the communal tables. We noticed several people turn and walk out because of this - and, honestly, we almost did as well because it's super awkward to just be standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting to order and we felt super rushed to decide what to get. Our entrees and appetizers arrived at the same time... again, weird service and we wouldn't order that way again now knowing how this place works. The crab dip appetizer was not good at all -- tasted like a spinach artichoke dip that was going bad. My partner's elk bolognese was the special and it was delicious --well prepared and clearly slow cooked the way a bolognese should be. The French onion soup I had was over salted, the onions were undercooked and not caramelized, and the bread/cheese dominated the broth. It needed the same slow cook and attention that the bolognese had. All in all, our experience at Eatery 66 North was inconsistent. We may give it another chance since there are so few restaurants like it in the area, but if our experience repeats, we won't be back a third time. read more
