I would rather, and I do ,travel to this part of the world where I have property,and have a better meal in a greater atmosphere than I can find in Las Vegas. The food and waitress were good, the food server was surly and not very well trained, he seemed unfriendly and barely communicated. We had to ask for more water a couple of times and he then filled our glasses to the very top, as in it wouldn't hold another drop and couldn't be picked up without running over, it was weird. By the fourth time he did it we were trying not to laugh, not sure what that was about. It's too pricey for my preference, the atmosphere/acoustics and service do not warrant those kinds of prices and the food doesn't support it either. The creme brule and apple tart were 9.50 and 10.00 for what were literally the smallest desserts I've ever been served in a restaurant. Enjoyed our dinner. Place is rather stark due to black tables and off white walls. A nice outdoor patio. Your table setting includes a white cloth napkin. A nice wine list and interesting menu. It is so great to have a place of this caliber in Montrose. We come here every now and then, and the experience is consistently great. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and the staff are usually great on timing (and water refills). And the food is fantastic. I had the pumpkin ravioli last time, and the balance of flavors made me want more; but the portion was perfect, so I did not need more! And the chocolate cake was fantastic. This became my go-to spot in my recent trip to Montrose and for good reason: Fantastic food. Great wine. Friendly service (I sat at a table on one visit and the bar on another). Reasonable prices. Comfortable ambiance. I was very impressed and highly recommend. One thing: make sure you get to try their crispy wafer bread served in their bread basket - so delicious! I sampled their arugula salad, a shrimp pizza, and penne w/vodka sauce. I couldn't stop eating that penne! OMG it was addictive. Spending some time in Montrose, Colorado. While here I visited Trattoria Di Sofia. It's a great little Italian restaurant, with great service and fantastic food. Tonight I had the pleasure to enjoy Carre Di Angello. It is grilled lamb chops with roasted red potatoes and vegetables. It also starts with either a soup or salad. Probably the best restaurant in town at the moment. Much more space than when they were downtown.

First time at their new location. The restaurant was much larger than the old location. Loved all the plants vining around the ceiling. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with the mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer which was delicious. My husband had a 3 meat pasta from the lunch menu and I had the chicken saltimboca. The food was flavorful and delicious. Overall this experience was a big disappointment, especially considering the price per entree. Our table was set with paper napkins but the tables around us had cloth napkins. Our server was friendly but otherwise not very helpful. She knew nothing about the bottles of wine and had to be asked for a kids menu and a basket of bread. Of the six of us, my salmon entree and my son's kids pasta were the only meals with any flavor. My sister-in-law's chicken fettuccine was bland and the chicken was dry. My mother-in-law's fettuccine mare was so devoid of flavor she had to cover it in salt and pepper. The ambience gives more cafeteria than expensive Italian. Will not be back. read more

First time I came here was last summer with a friend when they recently opened...we split an absolutely yummy plate of Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo. Have been wanting to try them out for dinner so we finally made our way back and it did not disappoint. When you first walk in, the décor and ambiance is simple, yet still comfortable with both table and booth seating. There is also a nice bar as an added place to have a drink or grab a bite to eat. The ceilings are quite high, yet since I was last here they did install several acoustic panels to absorb and improve the chat levels...which is a plus! To accompany our dinner, we ordered a bottle of Bollini Chardonnay that paired nicely with all of our meals. We ordered a Penne Alla Vodka, a Salmon special, Pollo Al Marsala Funghi, and Ravioli Di Zucca...including side salads for all. They also serve freshly baked complimentary bread...which was warm and tasty! Overall, the food was enjoyed and quickly devoured by all! Our waitress Sharon was da bomb! Tried it twice, second time a long while after the first, and both times the food was terrible. Not authentic Italian. If I had to guess I would say the ingredients are cheap and not being cooked by real chefs, just being assembled by kitchen staff. My most recent trip I got the spaghetti Bolognese. It was definitively not Bolognese sauce. It was a basic red sauce with nothing else in it, and it tasted & looked like it came from a can or a jar. My first visit I got a pizza with mushrooms and prosciutto. It was awful. Nothing about it was good, and the ingredients were definitely cheap. read more

It's probably been more than a year since I've reviewed Trattoria Di Sofia - but not a whole year since we've last visited it! This place is wonderful. Off the main highway through Montrose, it's very close to the Montrose airport and within walking distance of the Fairfield Inn. As its name suggests, the menu is Italian and the food is wonderful. We arrived early for lunch and had no problems being seated in a booth. Our waiter, "Abby" was friendly and attentive. We selected a bottle of wine, a Tuscan, and we were very pleased! We had the prosciutto e mozzarella for an appetizer. It's a very ample serving and my wife and I shared it - she taking the artichoke hearts and some of the fresh mozzarella and I took the prosciutto! Nice way to start a meal, especially with the Tuscan wine. We ordered the Pizza à la Caprese (which to us was more like the Margherita pizza we have had in other restaurants.). It's a very was fantastic and there was no need for a box for leftovers! What you need to know is that this is one of few places left that will play classic romantic music. No complaints here, whatsoever - it is charming and certainly worth a visit. Hopefully you'll get to meet "Abby" who has been there the past few times we've visited. A wonderful find in Montrose today for dinner! The service was fast and efficient, the food incredibly good! My wife had the vegetable Risotto, which was hot, creamy, and full of taste vegetables. Bruschetta was amazing. The seafood pasta in marinara was just okay. It was a generous portion, but the sauce was runny, and bland. This place reminds me of the small town Italian place from my hometown. It's not stellar but for whatever reason you keep coming back because it's comforting. Service was not good. My server went mia from the beginning. Another table got their food before me despite being sat after me. I was starving and ate fast because I was also trying to hit the road again to meet a friend at a trailhead. The same couple finished after me but also go their check before me and left before me as well. I waited with an empty plate in front of me for 15 minutes before I asked a busser to get me my check. Finally my server showed up and asked if I wanted any dessert, and honestly I would have taken one to go. Highly recommend this place. We were so pleased with our meals. If we would have been in town another night I'm sure we would have returned again! Fortunately for us they didn't mind us being in hiking clothes despite that most everyone else was dressed nicely. I ordered the grilled salmon with polenta and veggies. The veggies were absolutely amazing. Salmon was also great but was just surprised how good the veggies were. My friend ordered a Pepsi and it had no carbonation. The waitress said it looked like it had bubbles when she poured it. She sent it back and was asked if she wanted another one. Then she ordered the soup with egg. At the bottom of the soup bowl there were egg shells. We complained and the waitress said, well you almost finished it. When I asked to speak to the manager she said, no one is here. I paid the bill that included the Pepsi and the soup with egg shells and I tipped 20%. But that will be my last visit. read more

First, classy and warm interior. Greeted and seated quickly. Eight minutes go by before someone even comes over. This, was after 2 of the waitstaff made eye contact and kept going. Note: there were at least 6 waitresses on duty, and 1 lady who I assume was the manager. They spent a lot of time talking at the end of the bar. Finally a waitress came and took my order, no apology. Food was fine, standard Olive Garden quality. Noone came back to check on me, and a busboy noticed my water glass was still empty on his third pass by my table. He brought a refill. So. Is this really a 5-star Italian restaurant? No, I would typically give this place a 4. However, we are in Montrose, CO and there are only so many burgers a girl can take. I got the pappardelle with osso bucco. It was tasty, and I finished the plate. My daughter got the rigatoni with bolognese. It was ok - a little sour? I love Trattoria Di Sofia! The food has always been solid, tasty, plentiful and all at a reasonable price. From their appetizers to pasta dishes to Saltimbocca (veal or chicken) or their tasty pizzas, I've never been disappointed. Tiramisu is always a plus when I'm having a treat yourself kinda meal. The wine selection isn't huge, but gets the job done, plus a decent cocktail selection. The dining room is a little on the small side, but the owner and staff were more than accommodating when I celebrated my birthday with 20 close friends and family a while back. My friends and I have been enjoying lunch in their patio lately, which has been a lot of fun. The service is absolutely impeccable. The owner is super sweet and is constantly checking in on guests and isn't afraid to bus a table either. I believe the usual daytime server's name is Maria (don't quote me on that) and she is the BEST! She has such a great personality and truly knows the steps of service and how to anticipate guest's needs. read more

First the positives, it's a nice looking place that is located conveniently by hotels off the main strip on Montrose. The food here in my opinion was very disappointing, I ordered the Rigatoni with sausage meal and asked for extra sauce and to add meatballs. The pasta was nearly dry, no way was it extra sauce, if it was they must not put any normally. The meatballs were clearly the typical small perfectly round type restaurants buy frozen and the sauce tasted like tomato paste, but with quite a bit of spice added which made it very spicy for a marinara. The portion was small and was only served with Focaccia bread that was hard and not good. The pasta didn't come with a salad so I ordered a $10 house salad which was just lettuce, onions and a couple olives, and a Caprice consisting of sliced tomatoes and Mozzarella with oil for another $10. I also ordered the minestrone soup but I only ate a few spoonfuls as it tasted like Progresso from a can. The above food was ordered to go for one person that came to $65 with tip. Thats a lot of money for very sub par food in my opinion. Not sure where all the glow reviews come from but they must have ate at a different restaurant than me. read more
