Flavored lattes are delicious just ask for half sweet. Very charming coffee shop. Cubano was not what my husband thought. He wasn't a fan.

Usually make a stop here at least once whenever I'm in the area but am not sure that I'll do it again. On my most recent visit I was very unimpressed by the slow service (waited about 15 minutes for 3 drinks with no line or rush) , I also got the "too cool to talk to you" vibe from the employees which is really unfortunate because I truly do believe they have good drinks here. read more

My husband ADORES this coffee, and almost bought a bumper sticker that said "friends don't let friends drink corporate coffee." We live about 3 miles from Camp Coffee and need to take out a line of credit for how often we go. They have nice pastries, and I've enjoyed their lattes, but he gets 6-8 straight shots of espresso and just can't say enough about it. And he likes the folks who work there. We feel good about supporting local business too! read more

I enjoyed this coffee shop, and not just for its coffee. Bald Guy Brew was easy to find, and located atop a charming little store; and, yes, the fresh, pour-over coffee I had was great, as was the friendly and knowledgeable service. However, the cherry on this shop's sundae was, oddly, its bathroom, which was a little, slope-ceilinged hole-in-the-wall with all manner of coffee-centric decoration set under a scintillating blue neon light -- nothing less than a work of art, itself. While many other coffee shops/restaurants in Blowing Rock are seasonal, I was happy to find Bald Guy Brew open early on a Saturday morning in April. The caramel latte and blueberry scone were both tasty and the shop itself was tastefully decorated and situated above an outdoors shop which made it feel quaint and modern. Only complaint is that it was somewhat hard to find (I walked past the area a couple of times looking for it after seeing the business on Yelp but didn't realize it wasn't in it's own building). To be fair though, once it was located I noticed a coffee shop sign on the first floor shop's entrance - maybe for better advertising they could add their name/logo so people know it is this place and not something else. read more

They take their coffee very seriously here and will tell you all you want to know and more about the bean selection, taste and brewing. Then they will put together one of the best cups of coffee you've had I promise. Finally if you would like to recreate their brew you can buy some of their special blends at home. $4.26 for a 12 oz. pour over "house coffee", not your high end rare coffee...is absolutely insane. If the nice young man had not already started brewing it I would have laughed my way right out the door. $1.87 for the coffee if I buy the coffee already sitting in the pot. I have had a LARGE authentic Kona organic coffee in Hawaii at a waterfront restaurant for under $5 How can you justify your prices? I was the ONLY person in the entire building for at least 15 minutes on a 18 degree morning... Just something to ponder. read more

Cool hip coffee shop. Connected to an outdoor store that is being remodeled, which would only add to the cool factor. As far as the coffee goes I tried their cold brew. It is fresh and lively on the tongue. Although not my favorite cold brew the quality is good. My wife got the blueberry muffin and it was tasty. They also have some fun and clever souvenirs. Been coming to Blowing Rock since I was born and I've never ever noticed this place! Located in the upstairs part of Footsloggers, it's a great little place to grab a delicious coffee before a shopping trip on Main Street or an afternoon in the park! I had one of their tea blends (I was under the weather), but I had a sip of my dad's coffee (their own brew) and it was delicious! What a sweet surprise to find a legit espresso shop in the high country! Located directly on Main Street this upstairs cafe is beaming with character and quaintness. The baristas were super friendly and helpful. And, my goodness, the espresso was tasty! These guys roast their own and really care! That makes all the difference. Number one coffee shop in Blowing Rock/Boone. Fair-trade, organic, locally roasted coffee that's out of this world. Friendly staff, very knowledgable about their products and slow bar for flavor profiling and cupping. While all the coffee is phenomenal, the hot chocolate is amazing! Great, sunny little hangout nook perfect for an afternoon of books or hanging out with the dog. Must go for the best cup in town. read more

Stopped at Bald Guy on our way out of town after visiting friends in Boone. A wonderful experience! Terrific coffee, cozy space and they were unbelievably understanding of our fussy, get-into-everything one-year-old. We had to use the wifi and, though we were trying to hurry, it was a bit of a challenge. The woman behind the counter was playing peek-a-boo and trying to help entertain him. Great coffee, but more importantly, great people. My rental house lacked the promised wifi, so Bald Guy became my 2nd home. Galen (sp?) was super-friendly about having me there sucking up the free wifi and couldn't have been nicer. "Downtown" Blowing Rock is a little snooty, honestly, but this place is terrific. Pleasant surprise to my routine visit to Footsloggers in Blowing Rock. First time we ventured upstairs for Java and the whole family enjoyed. Non-coffee drinks for the kids were great and the adults were very pleased with our caffeine laced drinks! Great atmosphere and we ended up spending a relaxing hour hanging out in the "lounge" room watching it snow. Great hidden gem that shouldn't be missed and for an extra touch, barista is an artist with the foam!! read more
