We were just driving through Murfreesboro and pulled off the highway looking for a late lunch. Camino Real was just fantastic. Ambiance was nice, building and restrooms clean. Chips and salsa were just average but that's ok. Because the entrees made up for it. Pork Tamale plate covered in a spicy red pepper cheese sauce, lettuce, sour cream and pico on the side. Tamales were crisped up on the grill which was a very nice touch. The sauce was spectacular, great flavor, nice spice and cheesy. Some kind of chicken enchiladas with a tomatillo sauce was just as good. Don't remember the name but it's not on the online menu. Chicken was well flavored and still moist, sauce was nice and tangy. My only minor complaint was the service was a tad cold but not enough to dock a star. Being from Atlanta, I have to say I don't think we have any places like this here. Mexican food made for gringos that still has bold flavors and care put into each dish. If you want good food, you have to visit an authentic Mexican place. We have Americanized Mexican places, sure, but they aren't nearly as good unless you're paying three times as much. read more

First came here on a Friday night. It was actually the only place that had tables open without a reservation or wait time. Now I understand why. I immediately noticed the place was not very clean. Dust piled up on the window blinds. Flys swarming around. I ordered a sweet ice tea. Never have I tasted a tea so bad... it was the water used. Absolutely disgusting. I took one sip and it taste like what I assume toilet water taste like. Moving on to the meals. Our first visit I got the chimichangas. The food was mediocre at best but honestly, you get what you pay for. The cheese sauce was just too much for me. Very overwhelming. On our next visit, I order a burrito. I asked for the cheese sauce on the side because I remembered on the chimichangas it was just too much! Well they still brought me the burrito with the sauce. I reminded the waitress about my request and she snatched the plate up and walked off. Came back eventually with the burrito and after my first bite I was disgusted. I opened it up and it was literally a tortilla with beef..... the beef was very gross. Didn't taste good at all. We asked the waitress how the burrito comes and she shrugged. Then I said "does it come with just beef, the meat of choice?" She said yes. Seriously? I could get better burrito at Taco Bell. We won't be back. I didn't eat my food or drink the tea. I love Camino! I grew up closer to the Rideout Lane location, but moved, and now this one is closest. I've been coming here since they opened but the service is usually hit or miss. The food is always great, though! They were PACKED with people tired of being stuck at home in quarantine. Regardless, I'll keep coming back, because of how much I love the food and because this place is so special to me. read more

I have dined at a few Camino Real restaurants and normally found them to be average, but Camino Real #12 is an exception. Dined there with another couple and children and we were seated promptly on the patio and Rusbel was our server. He brought us our beers and drinks, chips and salsa, cheese dip, and took our orders. We had several different dishes and all of them were excellent. Especially loved the flavors of the Fajita Hawaiiana and the Taco's Mexican Style. While this spot is minutes from my house, I had not dined here based on experiences at other locations...big mistake. The food here...excellent and the service top notch. This is a hard review. We have been going here for years. Before it was built, we went to the other locations since 2005. I will never go back. In the last 4 out of 4 takeout visits, they got our order wrong. Specifically, they gave us the wrong item or items. The first 3 times, I let it go because we have been such loyal customers. I will now never go back and told my family that not one dime of my money goes to this place. Enough already. Getting the order items right is basic stuff and a core function of competence in that business. Also, it is impractical, especially in today's environment, to unpack the entire order at the counter and open each item and then further inspect the food to see if they have you a chicken burrito instead of a steak burrito which requires literally disassembling the food in this case. So, if you go there, I strongly recommend you find some way of checking your order before leaving. Something I am not willing to do. read more

Brand new restaurant that was just built is fairly nice and clean. Got a nice server who was quick and efficient. I never had to wave anyone down he just knew the time to come around. I throughly love sitting outside when it's nice weather. Their food portions are way bigger then my eyes. Two person meal could of fed a family of four.. Food tasted just as I would of expected not too salty or greasy. Coming on a week night way better service verse the weekend since they do get pretty busy. read more

OMG Fajitas Especiale can feed a family of four! Get the double portion and you can eat the second half the next day. It comes with complementary chips and salsa. The salsa is a little watery though. They are always busy here. So, if you call ahead, they should have it in about 30 minutes. read more

Two of us ate a Friday lunch here - first time. Biggest disappointment was beer on tap. Their menu, website, and posters inside advertise Modelo and XX (16oz draft for $2.95), but was unapologetically told by stoic waiter that they only have Bud Lite, Ultra, and Miller Light. I walked to bar and sure enough, they only had three taps - I guess they dropped the Mexican brand drafts permanently. Bottles available, but are $4.50 (really!?!) Lunch steak fajitas ($8.89) were very good and plentiful. Chicken Taco Salad ($7.95) was large and pretty, but bland. Chips and salsa good. Service was moderate/poor in attitude, but efficient (the type of service where you feel you are in their way by eating there). FYI, staff wore masks, restrooms were clean, and there is a covered patio area. Also, there are some very nice murals on wall, but are somewhat violent (a person with a spear stuck through them) and definitely political. Might try again, but will call about the tap beer first :) read more

Maybe we came at the wrong time. Usually Camino Real never fails with food and service. Today we decided to try this newer location that just opened not too long ago. We ordered our usual. Fajitas Texanas and Mocajete. We also ordered Nachos chicken as an appetizer which came out with our food that took a very long time to come out. The place was not busy at all. There were employees just standing around. When the food finally came, there were items missing like tortillas and guac. They kept bringing things out one at a time. The horrible service aside, the food was very good. Grilled jalapeños are a must! Perfectly cooked and season. They added a sweet and spicy kick. The fajitas were tasty and the portion was big. The mocajete was just as good and flavorful. I am going to say maybe this was an off day for them so I'll give them another chance and come back again. read more

Was seated outdoors, the restaurant was not very busy at that time. After 15 minutes, no one had brought anything or acknowledged me. Finally a waitress looked my way but she didn't say anything, and a guy brought chips & salsa but no water, & he also did not say anything. After 20 minutes I went inside and politely asked for a server. After 25 minutes, no server, so I told the cashier I was leaving. This restaurant is usually on top of things, but to not acknowledge a patron and at least bring water when they're sitting outside on a hot day is rude. We'll be finding a new fav Mexican place. read more

I think Camino is a great addition to the area. This side of Medical Center definitely needed something and Camino is always a great option. The place looks great, as it should, since it's fairly new. The booths seemed a little tight, but no biggie. I knocked a star down because service was just alright. Our server had a bit of an attitude and told my friend they didn't have any chocolate milk for her daughter. My friends come here all the time and would always get it for her kids. We ended up getting it, but it was an ordeal. The food was great. Big portions with endless chips and salsa. Def asked for the grilled jalapeños if you like spicy food. The margaritas seemed a little salty, so I might ask them to tone that down next time. Will be back when I'm visiting Murfreesboro again. read more

So I'm very frustrated! What a bad experience! I went to Camino real close to Cason lane and it was fantastic. For some reason I decided to go to fortress and it was awful, the food what very bad looking, they were put of rice and they said they would put double beans and they didn't, I ordered a quesadilla grande with shrimp and it was all oily and messy, they didn't even ask what tortillas did I want for my fajitas, last but not least; I call next day to talk to a manager and they said he is not here, he will call you tomorrow I have info and they never call so anyways I do NOT recommend this one! Seeing as Doordash rejected my review on their app, I thought I'd save someone the trouble of trying this place. We did a pick up order and sent my partner to go get it. They made one of our dishes wrong (I put in the notes "no veggies" and said that they don't consider lettuce and tomato vegetables. Remade the dish with onions. They continued to be rude and give him a hard time. Then had the audacity to say "read the menu closer next time". Its a shame because the one in Smyrna we've never had an issue with. and the food is decent but their worker and manager clearly have an issue with admitting they made the food wrong and tried to make us look like we can't read a menu or don't know what vegetable is. read more

We eat at the Camino Real Mexican Restaurant most every Sunday after church. Today we were shocked to find a fried bug under my son's French fries. You may not be able to see it in the picture, but it was very clearly an insect. We called for the manager and he asked for us to wait while he checked in the kitchen. He returned with a plate of black fryer debris and claimed the crispy critter was just a burned pepper. He then pushed his finger across it and the things shell slid off into clearly uniformed body sections. We paid for our food and left; stopping incoming patrons to warn them about what we'd found. It's bad enough to find a bug in your food, but the manager's denial was so insulting. Don't pee on my shoe and tell me it's raining. We were loyal customers and encouraged others to go there, but we won't be back. read more

The just opened this location. Very fast service and good food. Our server was amazing and very kind. I really enjoy the environment. The booth and table was a little bit of a tight squeeze so if you have a clingy toddler and you aren't small it's a little hard to hold them. Other than that the furniture looks amazing and great service. Will be coming here often more. read more

I came here for dinner last night around 7 the place was pretty empty and had tons of workers sitting around eating (so staffing wasn't an issue) we got sat and we didn't get greeted for 15 mins finally a worker walked by and said have you guys been helped we said no and our server was just standing around.... He didn't say much just drinks ? So we ordered then he just walked away he acted and seemed like he absolutely hated his job he was rude and when I asked questions about the menu he said he didn't know... I'm a server I try to cut people some slack but come on. I ordered a beef burrito with queso on top and my boyfriend got a chorizo and cheese quesadilla this came out in 5 mins or less.... Somehow... the burrito beef was pretty bland but it's fine I ate it. When my boyfriend ordered the quesadilla he asked how big it was and the server said I don't know 10 inches maybe and it was quite small so we had to order another one. Moral of this we deserved better service but instead were seated in the middle of the dining room and ignored. I most likely won't be back... read more

Our server was good too but would have been better had we actually gotten our food. We were seated outside and ordered veggie fajitas. 45 minutes later still no fajitas. Went there about five years ago and said we would never go back, food absolute awful but our seven year old great grandson talked his great grandmother into going last Sunday and awful, awful again, food was cold, beans runny, his mac and cheese 4.99 for a fifty cent box of Kraft mac and cheese kids drink 2.55 we renewed our pledge to never go back! Rude, unbothered, and unprofessional. I decided to give this Camino another try even though the quality and customer service has consistently gone down. I called at least 10 times and the phone was busy. I decided to just go in and place my order. Well, the guy at the counter was on his cell. The landline was laying on the counter. I'm not sure why it was busy???? He was very rude. He did not want to be bothered and when I questioned my total he got angry. I told him that was not the price online. He said their online prices are different than what is in the store. It was only a couple dollars which is not a big deal if he didn't act they way he did. I told him never mind cancel my order because he was rude and unprofessional and he pretty much did not care or apologize. This will be the last time I or anyone in my household spend any money at this establishment. The service and food ain't good anyways!!! read more
