We went here for Thanksgiving. Four adults. The food was great. The service was great. My mother can't stop talking about it. It was a buffet with 2 carving stations. The ham and beef were very good. All the sides were also excellent. The only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is the desserts. It seems to be the only thing not made in house. The cheesecake was just average. A fruit compote on top would have been enough to bump it up a notch. The chocolate torte was way too dense. It could have just been a chocolate bar. My husband and I got married here a few years ago and we try to go back each year for nostalgia sake! The property is gorgeous and on a sunny day, it looks like a scene out of a fairy tale. We stayed for our fifteenth anniversary. It is a beautiful, quiet venue. Our dinner was delicious! The vegetables and steak were perfectly done. Deb, our server, took such good care of us and really helped make our anniversary special. The bed was quite comfy and the water pressure in the shower was quite good. Attended a Wedding here recently. The ceremony building was beautiful. The building where the cocktail hour and the reception were held was just a short walk across the parking lot. Food was delicious, there was plenty of space for dancing and Bathrooms were clean. A wonderful night! read more

We attending a wedding, which was lovely. When we walked in our room the fireplace (electric) was on high as it was 13° out. However, the AC was also on full blast. We turned the AC off and went to the wedding. When we returned, we realized why...the fireplace didn't turn off. The switch and controls were broken. There was no one in the office to help us. We had to open all the windows overnight in negative temps because the fireplace was at the foot of the bed. My pillow had black hair on it. The dresser had someone's clothes still in it, and the tub didn't work. The bed squeaked like a thousand mice. They were out of bacon for breakfast, which seems like it should be a crime. My cousin was put in a second building and her room was the size of my bathroom. Would not stay again. read more

I have stayed at many B&B and was totally disappointed with this one. The room looked pretty but needed cleaning, TV didn't work. The charm of most B&B's is meeting the inn Keepers and staff and enjoying breakfast with other guests. The breakfast was from 8-9 served by maintenance men helping out, no variety. We were given a choice of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage or French toast. The order come within 2 mins and was obviously pre-cooked. We got married here in May 2024 and while the venue is absolutely gorgeous and the planning was amazing, they really failed to deliver the dream wedding we planned on the day of. There was constant confusion, mistakes, and rude staff as other reviews stated. We felt very rushed, you have to clean out the spaces in between each event (getting ready, cocktail hour, reception, etc) and while we knew that, we were not aware of the stress this would cause. I (bride) was not able to brush my hair out before the ceremony because all of my stuff was already packed so we literally had to use a fork that was in the suite, my veil was on wrong because we didn't have the proper hair tools to be able to secure it. My family kept running around trying to make sure things were being packed away and orderly for later in the night instead of enjoying the day. They rushed my ceremony entrance so I didn't really get the grand entrance we practiced. There was miscommunication with our coordinator and she ended up removing my in laws from the ceremony processional. They didn't serve the lobster tails which despite countless documents being submitted they were still forgotten. The cake was supposed to be saved and set aside but we have no idea what the kitchen staff did with it. The bar closed at 8:00 per our contract but we were never told it was nearing 8:00pm and to do a last call so the bride and groom didn't get a drink. The bartender looked unkept and was rude. When I asked her to lower the temp in the ballroom she huffed and rolled her eyes. If you don't want a gigantic tip jar to be placed out on the premium open bar, make sure you tell the venue before hand. This is apparently standard practice even though the couple was taking care of everything, my guests ended up tipping also. The rooms were disgusting and the ceiling between the cocktail hour and ballroom leaked all night long. The conservatory was either being cleaned or not available for us after the ceremony for photos so we lost a lot of requested shots and video content. (NOTE: This will need to be edited to include that the conservatory was available to you for 1/2 hour after the ceremony per your contract) ** the note is from the Knot because I had to edit my review to make it more favorable for the venue despite them not holding up their end of the contract. Working with them to correct the issues was the worst part and the reason for me leaving the review. They were deplorable in their reply to us and if you look on google reviews - you will see how this seems to be common and the replies from ownership to the couples is subpar. They do not take the time to make improvements and once you have paid your balance, they do not care much more. We are in the process of receiving a refund. They are reimbursing our family for their room conditions as well as us for the night we paid for our room to stay for the rehearsal dinner. They are reimbursing us for the lobster that was not served as well. Unfortunately, no monetary amount could ever really make things right. Our complaints weren't about the money to begin with but about our dream wedding being pretty much destroyed. Thankfully I set up all the decor the evening before so that went off without a single issue. When looking at venues and reading the reviews I said well not everyone is happy so there will be some bad ones. I had no idea that I should have listened because everything other couples had issue with, so did we. It is a gorgeous wedding venue and luckily we got some great photos but not at all what we were expecting. I just don't want anyone to experience the same things we did. read more

Cameron Estate and Inn is a fine place to have a wedding. It's not the largest place, but their beautiful grounds and traditional decor make up for it. It may be difficult for some to find, especially if following printed directions; I had to pull over to make sure I was on the right track. Anyway, I arrived 10 minutes late and was surprised to see the ceremony was already IN PROGRESS. They sure don't fool around. Inching up the driveway, past the seated guests - conscious of my car's engine noise - I bypassed the parking lot since it was packed to capacity, parking in the auxiliary lot. Really, these folks don't fool around. By the way, weddings with open bars and TOP SHELF ALCOHOL are seriously kick ass. This wedding did NOT fool around. (Shout-out to bartender Christy!) I'm glad the newlyweds found such a wonderful venue to celebrate their union and - more importantly - were able to find one other. read more

We were looking forward to staying here but it was not the best experience we've had and we have stayed at many B&B's. We called the office just after 5PM to see if we could add on a dinner reservation for that evening but had to leave a message as no one answered the phone. We left another message but still no response. We arrived there around 6PM and the reason no one answered was because no one was there...and when I say no one was there, NO ONE was there. We did find one other guest who said there was no dinner that night so we had to go in search of a restaurant which we found one nearby that was awesome thankfully. When we woke up the next morning, there was still NO ONE there. Besides us, there were 4 other couples staying and we went to the breakfast room which clearly stated breakfast from 8 to 9AM. NO ONE was there, no breakfast, no innkeeper - there was a phone number on the office door to reach the innkeeper but when I called, it did not even ring - just silence - I tried it several times in different areas thinking maybe the signal was bad but when I tried the office number, it did ring in the office but of course, but of course NO ONE was there to answer. SO, we headed out and got breakfast in Hershey and went on our way for the day...we made a point of coming back before 5PM to see if ANYONE was ever there and found 2 people there finally. We NEVER got a curtesy return call from our many messages to the office and their response to no breakfast was "really? there wasn't a breakfast yesterday?"... unacceptable response. The manager (maybe owner) said they would refund one night back to us within 8-9 days and it's at least 2 weeks with no refund. I have emailed them several times, originally Yani responded twice then NO response on the refund. We will NOT return there. PS: there was breakfast the 2nd morning we stayed which was good but by then we were done with the place! read more

My daughter was just married here, and it was beautiful, however, if you are thinking of having a wedding here, please be keep in mind our experience. The wedding coordinator insisted on complaining to my daughter multiple times during the day when a guest displeased her, including right after she had walked down the aisle from saying her vows! The property was beautiful. The breakfast food was extremely delicious. When booking our room, it said we would have a view of the garden and river, and that we would have a private bathroom. Upon our arrival, there is no check in desk. They did not inform us of check out time, and breakfast was from 8-9 am. Our room was extremely tiny. The "view" was from one window that was in the corner of the room. The bathroom was even smaller, and there was not bath tub, just a shower. The room was also promised to be soundproof, however, we could hear the tv from the room next to us. Underwhelmed. Did not get room reserved, and when politely questioned, no explanation or apology was offered, just a curt, "no that's not the room you are getting". Ok, proceeded to room, with no further welcoming and/or friendly discussion about the Inn, etc. Told key was hanging by the room, and that was about it. Cold and not very friendly, as mentioned by other reviewers. Unusual for an "Inn" of this supposed caliber. Room, (did I mention not the one reserved) was as expected otherwise. Bedding good, room clean. Breakfast was standard institutional fare, with powdered "scrambled" eggs and sausage/bacon etc. Frozen waffles, heated on a steam table, with some compote spread on it. Exact same as you would get at a Hampton Inn, so don't expect much more. There are far better options than the Cameron Estate Inn, and sadly; I would suggest looking elsewhere if you want a true "high caliber Inn" experience. Not coming back. read more

My husband and I got married here on 12/5/2021. We had a wonderful experience from the start, working with the staff to make sure everything was just how we wanted it. Cathi really went above and beyond to make sure everything was in place. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, very well maintained, and there are a lot of wonderful people that work there that made sure we had an amazing experience. We had our ceremony in the Conservatory and our cocktail hour/reception in the Springview Ballroom. The day of was seamless. The staff worked well together and went above and beyond to ensure that our family was taken care of from sewing my husband's pants to making sure the bridal party had a snack and even entertaining our toddler. I can't thank everyone enough for all the hard work that went into making sure we were happy. We are very happy with how everything turned out. Thank you to everyone for helping us have the wedding we always dreamed of. A special thank you to our day of coordinator, Rebecca, Melissa, and to all the banquet staff. In 1996, my wife and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at Cameron Estates. Back then there was not a separate check-in area/lobby, nor was there a banquet/dance hall addition. Things were much more simple back then, but the service by the estate staff and the quality of the experience was much better than what we experienced in July of 2019. We remembered from 1996 that the breakfast was very robust and fresh, and the room in which it was served offered a view of the estate grounds. The restaurant menu was also very good with an excellent in-house chef. The professionalism of the staff who checked us in and took care of our needs was some of the best we had ever experienced. After 23 years and receiving word that the property had been updated and facilities improved, we expected at least the same experience, if not better. We were very disappointed. It took 5 minutes to locate staff to check us in, and when the individual arrived to the lobby he did not appear too happy that we had reservations. The attitude was nonchalant, the style of dress resembled what you would wear to an Iron Maiden concert, etc. We stayed in the McKinley room, the most expensive room in the estate house. The atmosphere and decor was very nice, just like we remembered it, but the staff had failed to prep the room by turning on the A/C or at least opening the windows before we arrived. The room was almost 80 degrees Fahrenheit! Eventually the A/C unit cooled the room off and we settled in. The only other thing to add about the room was that there were loose fixtures and other oddities in the bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was literally a microwaved affair. Looking through the window to the kitchen, we saw the waitress heating up our entrees in the microwave before bringing them out to us. The coffee was lukewarm and we had to reheat that in the lobby. At least the fruit was fresh and the room was arranged in period decor. What a shame, however, to find that the breakfast room had no means of sunlight or view of the property like it once had many years ago. We felt like we were eating in the basement. Check out time came and my wife and I decided to purchase two mugs as a memento of our honeymoon 23 years ago. The mugs were very nice and we did not mind paying $21 each - well worth it in our opinion. What we did not like was being charged for 4 mugs. We went back and told the estate clerk who said he would credit the amount back to our card. Over a week later, our credit card account still showed the double charge and we had to contact the credit card company to have the charges removed. All in all, this experience at the Cameron Estates Inn was highly disappointing. Maybe it was because we were the only guests who booked a room that evening? I certainly hope that a staff who manages a fine property such as Cameron Estates would value each guest. Guests have relatives, guests have co-workers, guests have neighbors, guests have friends. I highly doubt we will ever recommend either of our two daughters, or other potential brides we know, to have their wedding at this venue. read more

Currently on our last night of our two night stay while visiting Hershey park which is only 30 short min away. First of all let me get this out of the way: your in farm country and your going to smell farm smells (Manure) but not in your room it just is what it is so don't be surprised cause your renting a room in Lancaster county PA after all much of the farm lands in PA will smell this way during certain times of the year. Our room is clean, homey, up to date, the staff is friendly/cheerful, the breakfast is quaint but tasty and filling! The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing and the fire flies were unexpectedly beautiful to us not just on the estate but in the entire area as far as Hershey park itself. They were everywhere like twinkling lights you'd expect to see people putting up during Christmas. I feel this is a little gem and I hope to be back with the family in future years!! read more

We visited the Cameron Estate Inn as a family for my birthday dinner this past week. We were looking for something different, something special. We were not disappointed! If you like historic, this is for you! If you like a unique menu, this is for you! The atmosphere is nostalgic and romantic, the service was friendly and attentive, the dinner was terrific! We had Duck, Filet, Crab Cakes and Salmon. Everything was perfectly prepared and the dessert menu was equally impressive. I feel badly that I never reviewed the Cameron Estate Inn years ago because my husband and I have had many delightful stays there over the years when it was owned by two gentleman whose names escape me now. I would have given it five stars every visit. As a B&B, it was top rate: a lovely old mansion, well kept, beautiful antique furniture, wall coverings, etc., books to read, public spaces to relax, and gourmet made-to-order breakfast and dinner on an enclosed porch overlooking the expansive grounds. Each room had a booklet describing the history of the house. The owners had an enviable collection of antique sterling silver that was fun just to look at. All of this nestled among some Pennsylvania farm fields and old growth trees -- it even has a stream! It was well worth the top-rate room-rates. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Whether that is due to a change of ownership or economic necessity, I can no longer recommend this venue as a B&B. We will never return. Without clearly stating this on their website, the mansion is now used almost exclusively as a wedding venue. Unfortunately, the "renovations" have completely changed the character of the old building. What was once a light-filled brick-paved dining porch for breakfast and dinner overlooking the grounds, is now a ballroom, decorated in a way not-at-all in keeping with the age of the building. The dining room, once covered in the original (or very old) wallpaper, has been renovated as a window-less room better suited to a chain motel, with modern gilt sconces and booths. The enormous old fireplace has had its original mantel discarded and its firebox replaced by a faux "flickering light" "fire." Such appears to be the fate of the other original fireplaces in the building. Gone are the gourmet breakfasts. Though our breakfast probably would have been fine in a chain motel that has a self-serve bar, it was not what we had come to expect from the Cameron Estate Inn. The hash-browns were clearly frozen. Fruit and toast were unavailable. The scrambled eggs were just plain old scrambled eggs. I think the waffles were frozen too. Our room, described on the website as in an outbuilding, was a vinyl-clad converted garage. The furniture in our room was new and, not sure how else to say this, cheesy -- unlike the antiques that appear to remain in some of the other rooms. There was no rug on the cold floor; no dresser in which to put our clothes. Within our room were two small rooms: one for a shower and one for a sink; the sink room had no place to hang towels. Though the room boasted a gas fireplace, there were no instructions on how to use it. One of the staff got it going for us, after a considerable amount of effort. Lots of little inconveniences: there were no cups in the room; the linens were not changed during our stay. The wifi network that we were instructed, in the room guidelines, to use did not exist. This is very picky, but the bedspread did not match the rest of the furnishings in the room -- this would not have been the case in the Inn's earlier incarnation -- that was the level of attention to detail that prevailed. Finally, I should be clear that I cannot review this Inn from the vantage point of someone shopping for a wedding venue. However, my husband and I are veteran B&B hoppers all over the mid-Atlantic region. The Cameron Estate Inn was one of our favorites, especially when we wanted to go antique-hunting in Adamstown, PA, about 40 minutes away. And the Inn is a quick drive to Mount Joy and Bube's Brewery, an historic 19th century brewery and museum -- also a pub and restaurant. What was once a treasure is now a huge disappointment, and definitely not worth the five-star prices they charge for their rooms. We have stayed there for the last time. read more

I would tell anyone looking at this venue to do themselves a favor and find another place. My niece got married their recently and although it is a very picturesque place the staff is so unaccommodating and inflexible. They are unresponsive while planning the wedding and the person they booked the wedding with left and she gave my niece the wrong information and they didn't stand behind what she said. The day of the wedding there was NOBODY AROUND to talk to or ask questions of. It is almost like you rent out the place and have to do everything yourself. THE COCKTAIL HOUR WAS A JOKE. The room was bland and the food was sparse. They had one bartender for 125 people and the line for drinks was ridiculous. When we finally found someone to talk to their answer was that they will send someone soon. No apologies. The food wasn't bad but was presented horribly....they had four folding tables with plain black table clothes against the walls at the end of the room....When I have a backyard bbq I present my food better and there was nobody there to talk to. The chapel was beautiful and the room that the party was in was also nice however there was one dangerous part of the room. When you first walk in there is a ramp which is uneven and an accident waiting to happen. A few people tripped several times. They kept the lights on bright until we asked them to shut them off or dim them...and then they opened the lights again until we asked them to turn them off again! Nobody was around who cared at all!! This seems like a beautiful place but don't be fooled. read more

Our wedding day at Cameron Estate Inn was absolutely lovely. Our day of coordinator, Katelyn, was attentive and had great attention to detail and we are so grateful for her efforts. The food was fantastic and all the staff at the Inn was wonderful especially Kathy and Yani. However, our wonderful day does not negate the planning process leading up to it. We signed our contract with a previous owner and were never informed of the transition. The new owner is the worst thing to happen to this venue. We went through three day of coordinators and two sale directors during our process since the rate of employee turnover was so high--the coordinators we had for such a brief time couldn't answer our questions since they didn't have a copy of our original contract and had no clue what we already paid for. Getting even minor questions answered were the biggest pain with no one answering the phones and emails being responded to longer than a week later often without an actual answer. Even with COVID no consumer should need to go through what we went through. We tried to figure out their COVID protocols and plans as early as March and were told to keep waiting and things would be fine all the way up until it was too late to postpone. When we did express a desire to postpone due to a large amount of elderly and out of state guests the owner herself told us we shouldn't postpone just because of the elderly because "who's to say if they'll even still be alive at that point." The venue is wonderful, but it's just not worth the stress, emotional pain, and disappointment you will endure during the planning process to have your wedding here. My friends daughter got married here recently and everything stayed in the prior reviews is sadly true. Staff was rude, nothing was ready for the guests and the food wasn't what was ordered. They didn't have stuff that was promised in the contract and added ridiculous hidden charges. The room smelled weird and was really hot as apparently they didn't feel the need to run the a/c or open the windows and the room smelled musty. The whole thing was an utter disaster and not what a bride should have to deal with, especially given the extremely high price per person. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

We booked our wedding here for 7-30-22 , the venue is beautiful that's the only good part of this place unfortunately. We checked in 7-29-22 the room is situated in the rear , there is always large weddings we had a small elopement scheduled for Saturday but there was a Wedding Friday about 4pm when we checked in , we were told not to cut thru the wedding and led thru a garage that was left open by the manager the floor was wet and my Fiance, soon to be Bride slipped a worker observed it and asked if she was ok but no one ever spoke or asked us after that or asked if she needed to be checked out or anything. The coffee in the morning is a Keruig machine many BNB we have stayed make fresh coffee in the mornings. Wedding Day 7-30-22 we have about 10 guests the venue was nice the grounds outside our luncheon reception was very disappointing the entree was good however the service was horrible, In my pack which cost me several thousand dollars I had 2 1/2 hour open bar with cocktail 1/2 hour and appetizers. The appetizers came around 2 times they did not have plentiful and did not even leave them on our table , the open bar was a joke we waited and waited for drinks there was no bar as advertised, they made drinks in the kitchen and took forever to bring drinks when you pay for open bar you should have plentiful drinks and same when you pay extra for appetizers this was not the case. They were grossly understaffed so much that at 1 point the waitress only had 2 people serving dropped a whole tray of drinks that took forever to make the table cover needed to be changed so did the chair of our guests. No apologies given continued slow service , no apologies for fiance fall or the horrible service and false open bar and appetizer claims in the package . I wrote to them 3 times and they did not even acknowledge it so I am warning everyone do not book this venue go elsewhere it seems they are nice until they get your money then they do not care to provide you for what you paid for very understaffed and deceptive packages save your money for elsewhere. We recently stayed here for three nights in the beautiful Mount Joy/greater Lancaster area!!! As we drove up to this beautifully maintained estate, I couldn't believe how well maintained and picturesque this property was. We were greeted by a very friendly staff and we just fell in love with our very large and bespoke room. The breakfasts were incredible and our Innkeeper (Melissa) went out of her way to accommodate our needs and preferences. The staff suggested places to visit in the area and were so helpful every day. We wandered the meticulously maintained grounds and just soaked up this serene and idyllic manor home. On the final day of our stay, we ate at the restaurant at the Inn. The chef (Michael) was amazing and asked us about our food preferences and then made us an amazing 4 course meal to fit our needs. I've been having a tooth issue, and he (and Melissa) completely fashioned my meal(s) to accommodate my issues. It was an unforgettable meal!!! To top all of this off, I thought the value of the Inn to be exemplary. The meal was very reasonable, the room rate was lower than any chain hotel room I've found. I know that this is a destination wedding site, so many of the weekends are booked up. I would highly recommend the inn for a weekday(s) stay. Fantastic accommodations, food and staff!! We went to the Cameron Estate Inn & Restaurant recently to see if it could perhaps be our potential wedding venue. To start, the entire time we were there it smelled like manure. I understand there's a farm nearby, but for those considering this as a wedding venue I feel I should still comment on that fact. We were the only ones there, and given that we were here looking at the place as a wedding site you would have thought the owner(s) might have gone out of their way to treat us as though they wanted our business. Not that case in the slightest! No one greeted us upon arrival, and our room was just a standard room. A few horse flies were in our room as well, not that horrible, but since we were the only guests, again you'd have thought someone might have inspected the room more thoroughly. For breakfast, we were greeted by a nice lady. She was kind and pleasant yet our food was cold as if they expected us to be up at 8:00 and when we weren't our food was microwaved. It honestly had the taste of microwaved food. The coffee was cold and there was no warm water for my fiancee's tea. For a B&B, it was probably some of worst food I have ever eaten. After our dismal breakfast, we were supposed to have a tour of the grounds. It was to begin at 9:00 am sharp. We arrived promptly at the front desk, where no one was to be found. We called out, again nothing. We next when to front room where many wedding photo books were, hoping someone would enter and give us a guide. We waited 20 minutes and no one showed. The Cameron Inn Estates is not punctual, thoughtful, nor do they go out of their way for your business. We were treated with the bare minimal. I highly discourage anyone from visiting his sorry excuse for a bed and breakfast and I certainly would not get married somewhere so disorganized. read more

during our east coast extravaganza we made a last minute trip to "other" the amish and found a last minute rate at the Cameron Estate Inn. The property was beautiful and we loved just sitting on the bridge over the creek that runs through the property. Our room was one of the cheapest, but was still very comfortable. The included breakfast was wonderful (although from 8-9 is a little early for vacation!) and they had wifi (but i had to ask them to turn it on). I do have to take off one star because we found this location on a GLBT travel directory, however we saw nobody who would fit into one of those categories even though the owners are apparently gay. maybe they just can't get another GLBT person to travel to Mount Joy?? read more

Pretty few hotels-or basically NO hotels-at least in Mount Joy and the local B&B's typically require a two night minimum stay (or are decorated in top to bottom farm animal theme-sorry, can't sleep in that!) After much searching, I booked a room at the Cameron. It's an attractive, large house that was once part of the Elizabethtown College. We stayed in the Four Seasons Suite. Two comfortable bedrooms with a shared bath. It seemed pretty quiet there for a Saturday night. When my b/f and I entered our room, other than a couple of wall mounted sconces, all of the lamps were unplugged...kinda annoying-I re-arranged furniture to find the outlets and plug them in. My brother's room was fine other than the door stuck so bad that it was impossible to open or close. He typically had to access it from the bathroom via our room. It seems they bill themselves as a local wedding location, which seems reasonable, I guess. The sitting room was sprinkled with wedding albums. The biggest redeeming quality-which allowed me to round up to 4 stars was the breakfast. I took my Valentines date here a few weeks ago! Had the dinner special for that night! Let's just say that this is by far the best experience I've had at any night out dining. First off the five course dinner was amazing and everything tasted beyond what I expected and so did my date! Five star dining for sure ! Beautiful place. My only negative comment about the experience was the price, definitely on the costly side. but I guess you get what you pay for! The staff never interrupted and was always attentive when you needed something ! I can see myself coming back again for a special occasion! And would definitely recommend friends and family here or anybody trying to find somewhere to take a date for a special night! Had Easter dinner with the family yesterday at the best restaurant. As you would expect, for such a great restaurant, it was busy but we were greated promptly and seated quickly by the nicest hostesses. Everything went smoothly and the food was excelent...loved the crab dip. The waitstaff and the runners ensured we wanted for nothing. We each got something different . The crab cakes - excellent, prime rib the best, salmon - wonderful (yes we tried each other's dinner) and the smoked pork!!!!!- they should open a bar-b-que place. We spent two nights last week. Although we were impressed by the beauty of the place, our greeting was off-putting. The restaurant wasn't open as advertised, so we got handed a multi-page list of area restaurants with no help. The room was very pretty (#11), but the closet door wouldn't open because the night table blocked it, the bathroom had towels hanging on the wall over the toilet, there were no foot traction strips in the tub nor any kind of bath mat for when you got out. The sink lighting was inadequate. The wifi instructions didn't work. Thankfully, a staff member named Melissa helped us out in that and other stuff. The breakfast was mediocre (keish) and the next breakfast we asked for scrambled eggs, which were awful. The one dinner we had was ok, but in decades of going to B&Bs the meals were the least inspired we've ever had. There were no snack machines for eating or drinking. Just water in a common fridge. They seemed more wrapped up in selling weddings to prospective families and prepping for one on the weekend. We get that, but we're still guests, and we would prefer to go to a B&B where the establishment makes breakfast like an event and makes you feel like you're guests in their home rather than just another couple filling a room. Our daughter's wedding was just a fairytale come true. Dakota was so helpful and Mary and the staff just made us feel as though we were all at home. The venue was exactly what our daughter and husband wanted. A venue with the old charm where there family and friends could have the day especially for them. We rented the venue from Friday-Sunday and it was worth every penny. The staff was welcoming, and the food was wonderful. I stayed here for a night due to a wedding I was attending. Before arrival, I received an email stating that check-in was at 3pm. We drove 3 hours to get there and did leave a little early just in case we may hit traffic. The wedding was to start at 4:30pm so we needed some time to change and we did not want to be late. We ended up arriving a half hour early. As soon as we got to the check-in counter, we were coldly greeted by a lady with short hair. Instead of smiling, she looked at us with our bags in hand and said, "Yes?" We told her we had a room booked and she instantly stated, "It's not 3pm. You received an email and it's on our website that check-in is at 3pm." We replied that we drove 3 hours and said, "ok, we will just go sit in the car." She then yelled down the hall to one of the cleaning ladies and asked if our room had been cleaned. The cleaning lady said it was so then we were checked in. I've never had such an unpleasant check-in at any hotel or B&B. I felt like a very unwelcome guest. As for the room, it was super small. No TV although there was an empty room next to us that had a TV and was larger. Not that I expected an upgrade but for $176, the room we were in was like a walk-in closet. If they have a larger room available, why not just put us in there? The bed- horrible. It squeaked loudly whenever you made a move. The foam pillow-top had you sink towards the middle of the bed. The air duct rattled every time the air came on and sounded like there was a lose marble in there. I did not sleep well at all. On the upside, the included breakfast was delicious but only available from 8am-9am. Coffee is available at 7:30am. Would I return? Never. That lady at the counter needs to take some classes on customer service. read more

My husband and I wanted to have our wedding with the Cameron Estate because of its charm and beauty; however, we were concerned with the horrible reviews we read online. Rhonda, the wedding coordinator, lied by telling us that the reviews were about previous management. After handing in our first major deposit, strange hidden costs and fees began to show up. On the day of our wedding, Rhonda was extremely unprofessional and rude to my family and guests. Our second entree was missing from the buffet with no explanation, the staff began breaking down tables and chairs after dinner and asked our guests to stand, the lights were turned off on us at our after party, my mother in-law was not served water because it was 2 minutes passed the end of cocktail hour, and the list goes on. After the wedding, our security deposit was completely depleted with false charges. We met with management upon return from our honeymoon to try and obtain some of the money back; however, they were unwilling to cooperate unless we signed a form stating that I, along with my friends and family, would never speak ill about the Cameron Estate online or to other people. Instead of signing away my freedom of speech, we went to court. Cameron Estate was found guilty. Check local court documents if you have any doubts. The judge had some strong words for the management expressing his disappointment in Cameron Estate's business tactics and mistreatment of people. Regardless of the Cameron Estate, my friends and family made my wedding day perfect, and I hope that this estate learned from their mistakes and treats their brides and groom with respect. My advice - have everything written down. We were told prices in person, but after the first deposit was turned in, the prices changed on paper. When we asked Rhonda why the prices changed, she denied ever having conversations about pricing. read more

When my boyfriend and I got to the Inn we were warmly welcomed. We wandered around the building checking out all the unoccupied rooms, which are left open for your viewing pleasure. Every room has interesting antique pieces and is nicely decorated. Our room was one of the cheaper rooms, therefor it was expected when we got there that ours was slightly less epic as the ones we viewed on the way in. Never the less, our room was nicely appointed. Only drawback was a loud hum from some type of mechanical system all night. I am positive that not many rooms have this issue. We were in room 23 - the Dutch Country Room. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast in their sun room which has wonderful views of their grounds. Speaking of the grounds.... WOW. This place is beautiful, with its rolling grassy lawns and tiered back yard. There is even a stream that runs through the property. Fantastic... A lovely little getaway. Our family made reservations at the Cameron Estate Inn restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. Cameron Estate Inn requested payment in advance for a buffet dinner. Upon being seated, we were told a waitress would take our order for beverages, soup and salad. The soup, salad and dessert were not part of the buffet, but were included in the price and would be provided by the waitress. We sat at our table while the tables around us were served for 15-20 minutes with no glasses (there was a pitcher of water and of ice team on the table). Also no waitress came to take our beverage, soup and salad order. After around 30 minutes and letting 2 workers know that no waitress had come to our table we helped ourselves to the buffet. At the end of our meal I asked to speak to a manager to complain and was told that we should never have been seated at that table because there was no waitress assigned to it (although we repeatedly let workers know we weren't being served and the waitresses serving the other tables could see we weren't being served - and no one said or did anything). At that time someone finally came to our table to take our orders but we had already eaten the main course. We tried ordering dessert but they had run out of most of them. One of the workers that I spoke to said that the full price of our dinner that we prepaid would be refunded. She said we would see the refund on our card the following Monday. It was never refunded and I have tried to contact someone at Cameron Estate for the past several weeks, leaving several messages (I have had a person answer the phone only once - all the other times it goes straight to voicemail) that have never been returned. This is shameful behavior. I would discourage anyone from eating at this restaurant. Based on the service and lack of integrity, I would caution anyone who is considering staying at or hosting an event at this Inn. read more

This place is old, smells, and has horrible customer service ! We were charged for things that were already broken and was personally attacked by the owner . See email response below from owner. I've never been talked to so disgustingly in all my life. Honestly though, the place is overpriced and outdated! Thank you for your email. I'm sure you are aware of the actual situation since you and your friend are the ones who broke the planter. When you asked Danielle if the planter could be moved told you she didn't think so but would go and check to make sure. By the time she returned with an answer, which by the way would have been no, you and your friend had taken it upon yourselves to move it anyway. The planters are old and fragile which is why we don't allow them to be moved. When Danielle returned you then told her to clean up your mess. If this had been an accident then it would be a different situation however it was not an accident it was an intention action by you in direct defiance of what we told you. The planter was not broken prior to you trying to move it, you broke it when you moved it. This was absolutely your fault and you should be ashamed of yourself for not taking responsibility for your own actions. The charge is not unlawful, you are responsible for any damage to our furnishings, fixtures, equipment and property. You are welcome to post as many reviews as you choose. We will merely respond to them with the truth of the situation. We will not be bullied or blackmailed by the threat of a bad review. In our experience people see these for what they actually are and it just makes you look petty. We have an overwhelming number of good reviews out there. Excellent Bed and Breakfast in the Central PA area. My wife and I stayed their prior to our departure from our wedding weekend and it was excellent. The staff is extremely polite and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay there again.We stayed in room #27 which is like a small apartment. Bedroom is large with a large bathroom, both of which make you feel very private.
