Seemed well-organized with 3 miles of driving if I remember correctly ($30) - I believe we saw at least a quarter-mile of lights before we even got to the pay-station. We saw the train and drove thru the beautifully lit covered bridge before finishing up near the Star Barn (also nicely decked out in lights). Even though the price seemed a bit high, we really enjoyed it - would drive thru again!

Every time we drive by the Star Barn along Rt 283 we expressed our sorrow as it fell into disrepair. If you felt those same sentiments....there's good new! Both are reborn at Stone Gables Estate! We spent the day yesterday exploring the rejuvenated National Christmas Center in its temporary home while its permanent home "The Belmont Barn" is being restored and rebuilt. Then, yesterday evening we took the enchanted 3 mile drive through more than a million Christmas lights. The hi-light of the drive was seeing the Star Barn restored in all its former glory! There's still time if you're looking for something special and extraordinary to do with your family this Christmas. Stone Gables is not shy in expressing the true reason for the season. "The Birth of a babe who was born to die that we might live", Jesus. You will be blessed and your hearts encouraged. It's an easy drive to Elizabethtown and well worth it.

They offered two teas throughout the experience and offered to make another pot of either one once we were done eating to drink as we sat and chat. The tea included a nice salad, two scones (a savory and a sweet), finger sandwiches, and desserts. A good amount of food. The teapot got about 4.5 cups of tea to share with the table. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays. A really cute restaurant. I'll definitely return for afternoon tea and would also go for dinner.

When we arrived, we were told where our table was...no staff escorted us to the table. After several minutes our drink orders were taken. They had no diet soda option. The sodas that were ordered were served in the can. Mixed drinks were ok(ish). Small wine selection. Meal ordered was placed and we told them we had ordered the Beef Wellington. The wait staff returned and informed us that another party canceled their Beef Wellington order but unfortunately our order had been the one that been canceled. They had no other beef option on the menu as they were out of the petite Beef Wellington that was on the menu. (and we were an early reservation) This should've been the cue to leave but we stuck it out. Caesar salad was lettuce, a few croutons and dressing. No grated Parmesan Cheese offered. Soups were luke warm at best. Entrees were not on par for a fine dining restaurant and again, luke warm at best. Olive Garden has better pasta dishes. Sides were cold green beans (manager said this was intentional as it's some sort of cooking style) and 2 very small red potatoes. We didn't bother with dessert. Service was subpar. Staff didn't realize our water carafes were empty after we filled our glasses at the beginning of the meal. Entrees were served at different times. Staff did not check on the table until we were all but finished with the meal. Sadly the restaurant needs a good deep clean. They tried with the decorations. It's not the same from years past. Definitely not worth the amount of money we paid. And that's sad knowing what Alfred's once was.

Toured the grounds while enjoying the Christmas lights with the Star Barn being the pièce de résistance - looked absolutely breathtaking. Bought train tickets for an Easter event. It was our first time here and the email emphasized…read morearriving well before our scheduled ride, which we did. However arriving so early meant the staff were either uninformed of the days events or just not ready. Signage was confusing on where to park and we ultimately were forced to return to our car with three little kids in tow, move it to a grassy area in desperate need of a mow, than wait in the car due to the cold until the shuttle was set up and we were taken go the train. The Easter train and activities that day were nice, although I still felt the staff weren't knowledgeable, and when we approached customer service for a program of the days events after seeing other people with them, they were even confused on where to get them. Other than misinformation, we enjoyed that day. My grandson found a gold egg for which they comped us the $35 ticket to the 4th of July festivities. The 4th of July activities were promoted heavily on Facebook and listed alot of great activities for kids one would assume would be included in the ticket cost. They also had fireworks, which we did not plan on staying for. My grandkids were excited to go on the train ride and get their faces painted. Neither happened, because once there we were told the train ride was an additional $15 per person and that the face painters were a no show. We were directed to a lower barn, a good walk from where we were with 3 small kids and told that's where the kids activities were. I don't consider food trucks and a coloring page "kids activities " but wherever. Annoyed we made the long trek back up the hill to the star barn in 90 + degree weather before a nice employee saw us struggling with the double stroller and gave us a ride on her golf cart, for which we were very thankful. The activities up there weren't much either. A gaga ball pit and corn hole, and the same coloring page inside. Bull rides and pony rides were an additional fee. The petting zoo was free but lame. 2 donkeys, 2 ponies, and two lamas we had no access to. The entertainment was a juggler who thought he was funny but failed to entertain adults and children alike. Every where you turned there were nickel and dime fees. So what was the $35 fee for? I'm assuming to see fireworks you can see elsewhere for free. So glad our ticket was comped, as this event was lame, and the hour we wasted there, mostly walking in extreme heat we can never get back.

When we first glanced at this place online, we thought it was a little expensive - but actually, once you add up all the little costs of other venues, this one is a good deal. Nicer chairs and tables and basic decorations are just included, the staff also helps tell people where to go, where to park, and they do all the set up and tear-down, too, included in the fee. it really is so much less work than less expensive venues. They also allow you to bring in whatever caterer and vendors you choose, so you can have more control of your budget. They have a great list of vendors too, to help with your research - we went with one of their recommended caterers and were really happy with the food. We were so pleased with everything. Melanie manages the events and she can also be hired for the "day of" coordinator for a very reasonable price. She was always responsive and gave us great advice, and the day of she made us feel very taken care of. She and her team thought of every little thing - from bringing the wedding party apps and a cocktail while we were taking photos, to maneuvering around a few scattered rain showers. She also did our flowers, as she used to be a florist, and she gave me advice on how to make the bouquets nice but more inexpensive - they turned out wonderful and I saved a lot of money by using her services. The day of, she and her team were all over everything - but you didn't even notice them. they were extremely professional and efficient. If we could do it all again, we would choose Weddings on Memory Lane!
