Because of a prior cancellation, we were able to get an incredible rate. We also agreed to opt out of the usual breakfast. Instead, they had food set out for us prior to our arrival, which allowed for us to have the entire place to ourselves during our stay! City House was in a great location directly across from the river and within walking distance to some great restaurants in the Historic District. Even though we never met the hosts, they were extremely helpful and accommodating, especially when it came to the breakfast they left for us. My boyfriend told them that I had a gluten allergy, and they were kind enough to provide us with gluten-free (and delicious!) blueberry muffins and gluten-free granola, along with hard boiled eggs and a great assortment of yogurts and fruits. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay in Harrisburg, and I hope to return again in the future!

I loved all the animals I got to see the beautiful horses grazing and the precious sweet kittens. Truly this place exceeded all of my expectations they go above and beyond and all the workers show great pride in their work and it shows. Exhausted after an 8hr drive, the hospitality, extremely clean and quiet atmosphere allowed is to sleep like babies. Unfortunately we were spent both days so we didn't get up in time to experience the breakfast but waking up every morning to bacon and eggs wafting through up through our room felt like home. This year we were hoping to book a stay at Pleasant View Farm but found it was quickly booked solid over Veteran's Day. Several days after my initial contact, I received a call back from Nancy. She was delightful as she explained there had been a cancelation and she had searched her phone for my # so she could offer the honeymoon suite to us!! To say our stay was delightful wouldn't do it justice. The grounds are just gorgeous...Nancy is so helpful and friendly, their children were engaging and we thoroughly enjoyed talking with all of them. We felt like we were visiting old friends!! Our room was gorgeous...and when we told Nancy and her husband about a little problem with the heater it was taken care of immediately! Our working fireplace was such a nice touch and made our stay all the more romantic. The food was delicious and it was clear Nancy wanted to make sure we all had what we liked...nobody left the table less than stuffed and it was nice dining family-style. We spent more time than we would have imagined lingering at the breakfast talking with the other guests and our lovely hosts...the conversation was easy and entertaining. I was the only diner in the place, which honestly made me feel like I had just rented out a private pizza studio. Bonus: plenty of free parking right out front because it's tucked into a little strip mall. Before I even ordered, the menu caught my attention--an eclectic mashup of pizza and tacos, with breakfast versions of both served all day long. It's honestly the kind of menu you'd expect to stumble upon in a dream where the universe says, "Go ahead, choose joy." I originally planned to be "responsible" and just grab a slice to test the waters, but they didn't have any slices ready and would've had to make an entire pizza just for me. That felt like a sign from the Universe to stop lying to myself. If they were firing up the oven anyway, why not go big? So I took the cosmic hint and ordered their semi-Instagram-famous Mexican Breakfast Pizza: eggs, chorizo, mozzarella, cheddar... a 10" "personal" pizza (their wording, not mine) for $14. Twist my arm. Drinks live in the cooler by the door and you just grab whatever you want and pay at the end. As I was mid-debate between soda and water, the guy behind the counter popped out from behind the curtain and said, "Hey, since you're getting a breakfast pizza, if you want juice... orange, cranberry, apple... you can have it!" Sir. Apple juice is basically the secret key to my heart. SOLD. He also mentioned they have games and coloring books available--apparently dominoes is the crowd favorite here. Unexpected and charming. A little sign on my table caught my eye: "If you love it, leave a nice review." Challenge accepted. This place was already earning every star. Placed my order at 5:02, snagged a seat by the window to watch the sunset fade and the traffic chaos whirl by. The sign on the wall said "GOOD vibes, GREAT flavors," and let me tell you: an accurate mission statement. At 5:20, my pizza emerged in all its glory--and it. was. stunning. The crust hit that sweet middle ground between thin and deep dish: sturdy, doughy, beautifully crisped on the edges, and wonderfully yeasty. The eggs-to-cheese ratio was perfection, and the chorizo? A knockout. Spicy, chunky, far more personality than the usual breakfast-pizza sausage situation. I ate 1.5 slices and boxed up the rest, which will easily feed me for another three days because, yes, I believe in leftovers as a lifestyle. As I was leaving, the man behind the counter introduced himself--Sebastian--and he had been nothing but attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. Service like that sticks with you. Total damage: $22.26 including tip. For great food, even better service, and days of leftovers? That's what I call winning.
