Ehh, this is either average or below average quality fish and chips. I came here because I was staying in sunset district and it was the closest fish and chip place that had decent reviews on yelp. I waited about 15 minutes on a Thursday morning for fish and chips that were drenched in oil (already a bad sign that the oil wasn't hot enough). The batter was soggy and easily came off the fish. The fish was overcooked and the fries were soggy. Pretty disappointed with my experience, considering the tartar sauce wasn't even made in-house. Next time, I'm going to drive 1 hour to Fourth and Sea as they haven't disappointed me ever. read more

Small but cozy restaurant. Antique decor gives the place an authentic feeling. The fried fish was excellent.. Crispy and fresh. The "chips", on the other hand, were awful. The texture was so strange. Crispy on the outside like a good fry should be but the inside was like a potato Sahara desert. It's like they used old dry potatoes or something. Very weird. First impression: adorable and cozy English style pub interior. Food: delicious and authentic English beer batter on the fish. Fries appear to be home-made. The fish came with vinegar and wrapped in newspaper, just like I got on a boardwalk in England. Recommendation: I don't know if this is for to-go orders only, but they gave me packets of tartar sauce. Gross! Home-made tartar sauce would make all the difference in the world. I'm a pretty big fan of fish n' chips and this place is as good as it gets in the Bay Area. The fish is perfectly cooked and not over battered. They have no problem with my requests for extra crispy chips. My kids love their chicken. They make what I consider to be tied for best fried mushrooms anywhere. (I'll disclose the other one in another review.) The decor feels like it would make a limey proud and the fried desserts are great, but i would consider them "once in a while" treats due to cost and the fact that I can hear my arteries clogging 10 minutes after consumption. I give this restaurant four (4) stars! The food is good, but it is not consistent! I have been five times and three out of those five it was very greasy! My wife and I were looking for a good fish & chip joint and after reading some of the reviews; we wanted to try this place out. Ambiance was ok.. pictures provided here pretty much sums up the place. Don't forget to bring cash, they dont take any kind of cards; which is freakin weird in this day & age. They do have an ATM across the street just in case. The service here was bad; there was a chubby girl at the cashier who kept forgetting our order... other people who came before us got their order first... and the food was just ok... it served no justice at all considering the service... Fish wasnt all that fresh and the batter used was kinda bland... the chips are no better then what you can probably make at home... I would not go back to this place for any reason... I find it so strange how this place get 4 stars... I would give it 2 stars but since the service was so bad I give it a 1 star... Bad experience all around... I found this really great fish and chip place in Pacifica, Camelot! The fish was delicious, crispy and huge pieces. The shrimp was perfect all served with lots of French fries. Great location and kinda funky albeit very small. Almost like an alleyway. Seating is very limited like maybe 20 people tops. Ordered fish and chips for 11.75 and I was disappointed. Chips were flavorless and the fish tasted way fishy - which was disappointing because we were looking at the ocean just outside. It was also gray and brown. This place is a bit scruffy...located in a completely unremarkable little strip mall atop a foggy (typically) hill in Pacifica...but don't let the humble exterior fool you, this place delivers on a superb "fry up". Hang out and listen to the juke, chat with the friendly crew/locals or collect your grub and some beers and head to the ocean like we did...you cannot go wrong! They'll package it all up, including extra malt vinegar/ketchup/lemon and have you on your way in no time! Don't forget the hooch...they have a great selection of brews to choose from.. Bodddington's, Newcastle, Guinness, Bass as well as the usual suspects (Bud/Heiniken/MGD) We ordered the whole gamut... fish and chips, fried shrimp, clams and even some chicken for the landlubber who won't consume seafood (WTH?) Long story short, we were wow'd!! Wow'd by the hot out of the fryer, perfectly breaded fish, shrimp and chicken! The fish was just perfect...tender, flaky white fish in a panko batter...the fries were dense...crispy on the outside and soft in the middle...same for the shrimp which tasted super fresh! In fact it all seemed fresh, none of it seemed frozen or "Gorton's Fisherman-like" if you catch my drift (and I think you do!) Honorable mention for Camelot's cole slaw which was creamy dreamy and not overrun with mayo. I must say, Camelot is in a league all it's own! The food was good and parking was easy to find. The downside to my first experience was probably the wait for my food, there were no seats, and the fries. I probably waited approximately 25 minutes for my food and the fries were very bland. However, the seafood (fish, oyster, shrimp, and scallops) was excellent! This place has good fish and chips but it needs lessons in basic business. I live within walking distance to Camelot and would like to come here regularly. I've forgiven them for getting my order wrong twice before but this most recent treatment is a new low in any restaurant experience I've had. After waiting ONE-HOUR for my dinner, they told me my food was "missing" and they were now closed and I had to leave. I walked in at 7:30 got in line and placed my order at 7:45 (15 minutes before they close). I asked for nothing fancy, a regular fish and chips to go. I even dropped a nice tip in the tip jar when I placed the order - because that's what regular customers do. I waited at the table closest to the register and the waitress passed by me several times. I'm patient so the wait didn't bother me but after about 20 minutes I noticed that people that ordered after me were getting their food and TWICE the waitress told me my food was "coming right up" and blamed the slowness on a "big line" just before I ordered. I was the only customer still in the restaurant at 8:30 (30 minutes after closing time and 45 minutes after I paid) the waitress said, I'm paraphrasing, "I don't know what happened to your dinner and it's too late for us to make it now because we've already closed the kitchen". She offered the choice between a refund or some leftover food that I didn't want. I chose the refund and told her I was very disappointed. I didn't ask her, and she didn't offer, to give me a coupon I could use later, or return my tip, or any other solution - but I would have been justified in making a scene. So an hour of my Sat night is now wasted, I'm late, I'm hungry, and I still don't have a dinner. Bottom line is that the woman behind the counter made several mistakes and had ample time to discover her errors, but her only solution was to massively inconvenience me without any offer of a make-good. She was apologetic but as the mob says, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining". I moved to Pacifica a year ago and I really like the people here and would have loved to make this one of my regular spots, but in my experience this place is consistently frustrating. read more

Mediocre at best. From the service to the food. Not great at all. I got the Camelot combo, didn't like it, the fish was tough and rubbery and the deep fried oysters, shrimp and scallops were boring. Took literally 5 mins to get a Black and Tan when I ordered a snake bite. Didn't care to ask the server for the correct drink; just drank it and took off because she had already forgotten to bring me original drink. I was very impressed with their fish and chips! The fish was very crispy and hot and not greasy like at some other places. The chips were not salted which I prefer as many places is overly done. The inside was decorated in British decor and brought back memories of my trip to London earlier this year. Seating is limited since it's a relatively small place. I specifically drove to Pacifica to have a late lunch here. I have fond memories of going here with my grandfather. I walked in, put a magazine on a table, and went to the counter to order. Girl at the counter was not overly friendly. I gave her my order but was then told it was cash only after I pulled out my Mastercard. I asked where there was a Chase bank. She did not know but said I could use the ATM machine. My plan was to go find a Chase, get money and return. However, after what happened when I went to leave, I will NEVER go to this place again!!! I turned to leave and went to pick up my magazine off the table. It was gone! There was a young girl (whom I got the impression was not all there) who was supposedly "picking up" around the restaurant. After the counter nazi looked through some brochures, near the door, she had the gal to tell me that I did not come in with a magazine. She said I must have left it somewhere else and just "thought" I brought it in with me. I said I came with a magazine and was not leaving until I had my magazine. After looking around, I found said magazine behind a bench on the floor! Is this how the young girl picks up around the place? So, needless to say, the customer service here is sadly lacking. My husband and eat I here when we ache for F & P. The staff are always friendly and the F & P are the best through the Peninsula. Not sure what all the hip is about. I've eaten much better fish and chips in many other places. The place is very small, very busy, and does not look very clean to me. I did not see the kitchen, but our table was sticky and carried many signs of the cups, or beer bustles of people who set there before we did. It took way too much time for our fish and chips to arrive to the table, why it happen i am not sure. It gave me plenty of time to observe the cleanliness of our table as well as the nearby tables and other patrons impression from their food. I saw that a few other people in near by tables did not finish their food and also did not want a take away...just left their fish in its paper plate, that means they did not like what they've been served same as us. Their fries were bad. Very bad. We did not touch them. Also because of the small size of the place, the people standing in line are standing above the heads of the people sitting to the table, a bit uncomfortable. Went crabbing on the Pacifica pier on Friday, thought it would be a great idea to have fish and chips for dinner. Found this place listed in my GPS. The fish is grainy, not flaky and smelled horrible. Eat only one ( I was hungry as hell). The batter was over fried, and nothing like it is supposed to be. The fillet was thin, with dark veins on the side. The chips were so soggy that it was difficult to get it off the paper. This is the main reason, I am writing this review : I was violently ill after having this. Came home feeling funny in my stomach. Then the throw up started. Step inside this place and you will think you walked into a little hole in the wall pub. The interior design in this place is awesome, the food is decent, and the service was adequate. I kinda almost wish they all spoke in British accents there. The wood panels and little decor that is nicely displayed along each wall really gives this place a fun place to pop in at least once if you're up for some fried fish and some French fries. Without a doubt the best fish and chips! I'd drive back just to eat there. Was there after lunch and there was a line of people getting orders to go (good sign). The food was great and the decorating inside was fitting (all British stuff). They also have a bar with the classic British ales and make a mean Black &a Tan as well as a Snakebites.
