Dr. Heffelfinger and the team at Camelback Eye Care are simply the best. I've been a patient in Dr. Heffelfinger's care for over 10 years. My children have seen her since they were infants. Dr. H is patient, calm and thorough. She is amazing with children, and explains the exam and results in a very understandable manner. She truly cares about the health and well being of her patients. The office is clean and welcoming, the equipment is top notch, and the staff is amazing. Thanks Camelback Eye! read more

I was originally booked to see Dr. Maynard, but he ended up sick the day I was supposed to see him. His staff was great about working me in as soon as possible to see the other Doctor, Dr. Heffelfinger. When I came into the office, I was greeted by the front staff promptly and did not have to wait long before my appointment. My exam was done mostly by a very nice 4th year intern, but Dr. Heffelfinger made sure to come in and review my eyes, as well. She was very pleasant. I even got to meet Dr. Maynard, who was also very nice. They were very thorough, and explained exactly what they were doing, why they were doing it, and what they found. I did not feel like a first time client, but someone they were pleased to see and comfortable joking around with. I could tell that this was an office that enjoyed working together. I'm glad I took the time to read through a bunch of reviews of the local doctors before making my choice - in this case, it definitely paid off! oh y SE HABLA ESPAÑOL :) read more

Dr. Maynard and Dr. Heffelfinger are the BEST eye doctors in the valley! The office staff and technicians are extremely courteous and helpful. I have been a patient at this office for over 10 years and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. read more

I have been going to Camelback Eye Care for almost thirty years for my vision needs...I am a professional camera operator and still photographer...I wear contacts or glasses depending on the type of work required...Dr. Maynard and Dr. Heffelfinger monitor the health of my eyesight and know that my livelihood depends on how well I see. They are knowledgeable, personable and professional. Their support team of techs and office staff are also a pleasure during my yearly visit. It is very reassuring to have the consistency of quality care for such a long time. read more

Update: In order to save some money I went to costco to purchase glasses with my prescription from camelback eye care. The Tech at Costco had a question about the script and called Camelback at about 4:45pm the day I was there. The person who answered the phone was very rude to the Tech and did not want to help. He told her to figure it out by halving the prescription. Anyone knows they could not make the glasses without the correct script and can't just take half of a number. I called Camelback a few months later to make an appointment with another I issue and was told "we have doctors in because remodeling". Didn't even offer to refer someplace else or say when they were going to be back open. Won't return here completely negated the 1st somewhat positive experience I had in November. REVIEW from November: I had something wrong with one of my eyes and couldn't get in to see the optometrist I have been going to for the past several years. I took a chance and called Camelback Eyecare as they are the provider list for my insurance. Not only was I able to get a same day appointment, I was able to get a same hour appointment! I need to call my now-former optometrist and thank him for not being able to see me and let him know I will not be returning. My NEW eye doctor, Dr. Heffelfinger, was very thorough and explained everything along the way. The staff was friendly and took the time to review my insurance and offer guidance. Parking is a bit tight and it's easy to drive by if you don't know the area. Their selection of frames is pretty standard and prices are slightly higher than the big chains which I expected. The better experience is worth it however. I will definitely return and recommend them to others. read more

Both my daughter and I see Dr. Heffelfinger, and my husband is likely to follow. The office is small but tidy, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Heffelfinger is very personable and professional. One is certainly made to feel welcome in the office. I only wish they had occasional extended hours as their office requires me to take time off work--although it's worth it for such great care. I highly recommend the practice! read more

I have gone to Dr. Maynard since I moved to the Valley in 2002 and have been nothing less than thrilled with the office's professionalism, kindness, caring and genuineness when it comes to true concern for me as a patient and a person. I recently had the opportunity to see Dr. Heffelfinger when Dr. Maynard was out of the office. What a fabulous complement she and her assistant, Roy, are to the office staff! I couldn't recommend this optometry office more highly for all of your eye care!! read more

I am willing to drive my entire family from North Phoenix (near Anthem) to Camelback Eyecare because of the incredible care I receive from not only the knowledgeable and caring staff, but also Dr. Heffelfinger herself. I've never gone to a smaller (not a big advertisement eye glasses clinic) and I kid you not i prefer Camelback eyecare over all the ones I've ever gone too. They are super nice and took great care of me. They were concerned about my eyes. I saw a student first before Dr H and he was awesome! Front desk receptionist (and i'm sorry i forgot her name. I think its Julie. Sorry :/) But she is amazing! She was patient and even though it didn't take that long to pick out these amazing glasses she is one wonderful person. It was Friday afternoon and i didn't see her rushing me or anything. Thank you so much for everything! I love my glasses and the cute little thank you bag (that came with a cloth, my glasses case and a lens cleaner). You all are so AMAZING! i will be back next year!! read more

I was long overdue for an eye exam and I'm very glad I discovered Camelback Eye Clinic. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment and was called back right on the spot of my appointment time. Very professional and modern technology was used during my exam. Dr. Maynard was very outgoing and friendly. I feel he gave me good advice. The tech that helped with my glasses firing was great. She gave an honest opinion about frames and lenses. She also did a great job reviewing my insurance benefit and what my out of pocket cost would be. read more

This was my very FIRST eye exam in my life. I could not be more satisfied with my experience Dr. Dawn Heffelfinger and her staff are extremely thoughtful, gentle, and kind. I was given all the necessary information regarding my sight and what my options were. My vision insurance covered most of the costs and the final price was very affordable. I can not thank this office and staff enough for making my experience a positive one. Definitely coming back and recommending to everyone I know that Camelback Eyecare is the place to go! read more

I have been going go this office for years, they are the greatest! Very thorough examinations. And, they take the time to listen to your questions and concerns. We absolutely love Dr. Heffelfinger and the entire Camelback Eye Care team. They're patient and thorough, great with kids (in fact, my 8 year old asked if we can go for eye appointments every 6 months instead of once a year because he always has such a great experience), and take a personal interest in their patients. We've been coming here ever since we moved to Phoenix and feel like we're old friends. We recommend you to everyone. read more

i really enjoyed my experience at my first appt, so much that I am writing this now. It started with the front desk, nice, informative, and helpful and didn't end with the doctors. I have been going to misc. eye doctors over the years, but that is over now. I would like to introduce you to my new eye doctors! :)) read more

Dr. Maynard's office was recommended to me in December of 1978. I've called him Dr. Dad for years. The doctors and staff are professional, but also care about the whole person. They know that a patient is far more than just their eyes. I live in Payson and make the trip gladly. The optometrist here prescribed glasses for my daughter, he left out a prism. She couldn't see through them. Dr. Maynard changed the lenses and never charged me. I've had two appointments with Dr. Heffelfinger and have found her to be wonderful. read more
