Sometimes you picture me I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear what you've said Then you say - go slow - I fall behind the second hand unwinds We were sat promptly and as I perused the menu Cyndi Lauper's classic ballad began playing. From that moment, I knew we were in for a good meal. And not only because of the stellar song selections! A bottle of red wine, cauliflower soup and a free range chicken breast later, I could easily see why Camden Kitchen is my companion's favourite Dublin dinner haunt. Oh, but we hadn't had dessert yet! My chocolate mousse and raspberry sorbet was not only creatively presented with a bird-shaped pastry in a glass jar, it was the sweet ending I'd hoped for. From service to selection, I'd say the Camden Kitchen has a lot going right for it. My only tiny beef was with some rather odd spicing in the soup and the potato puree. I felt the soup could have been brightened up a bit, it was slightly flat tasting. Still, I'd return to this neighbourhood favourite without hesitation. If you're lost you can look--and you will find me Time after time If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting Time after time

Salmon starter

I had walked by this spot a few times when I was exploring around the area. It tempted me from the get go and then after reading James review, I just had to go! At the weekend my friend from San Francisco and I decided to check it out. San Francisco dwellers are notorious foodies and he loved it, he said he'd give it 4/5 but as I said in a previous review if you compare food fare to foreign spots then you will to no justice to Irish spots and make yourself miserable. One word, exquisite. I honestly can say that the smoked salmon starter that I got was probably the best I have ever tried. I had sole for my main and it was cooked to perfection. The side of potatoes were far too salted for my taste. He got the soup which he loved. He also got the ox cheek for main and it honestly was divine. Presentation of both meals was top notch. Macon Village white was pretty reasonable for restaurant prices. Coffee top-notch. He got the dessert which looked like two little volcanoes spewing lava to me but his mind went a far more sordid route. I of course tried some. Divine. Somehow they managed to condense rich chocolate sponge into such a compact fit that it just expands when placed in your mouth. The scoop of simple vanilla ice-cream on the side complimented the warmth of the sponge perfectly. Service was superb, extremely efficient and friendly staff who hail from the continent. It's a cosy little bistro and you can look in to the kitchen at the two chefs, one of which is the owner... Oh and they do cocktails... I would book ahead, I've already reserved the upstairs area for a meal to celebrate me in a few months ;)

After seeing this place open and then glance at it occasionally during my day-to-day life, I finally made the effort and we went to the Camden Kitchen last Friday night.... and I'm so glad we did. The starter I got was fine, black pudding croquettes. My partner got the smoked duck and thought it was fine too. But it was with the mains that things started to go up a notch. I went for the Ox Cheeks and it was divine, melt in your mouth. My partner went for the Skate Wing and he loved it. Me, I thought it was too fishy, but I'm weird like that (yes, I know, but some fish I just find too fishy!). Also, special mention to the green veg side with pesto dressing, it was pleasantly yummy. Finally the desserts, this is when I reached heaven. The creme brulee was, I expect, what all creme brulee should be like. I've ordered creme brulees in the past and have never been set alight by them. But this one rocked. But my partners chocolate fondant.. oh the fondant... lets just say I am definitely ordering that next time I go back. Flipping sensual... Wine was grand, Pinot Grigio. Decor very nice too, not too squished for a small venue. Two negatives though, it did get cold very quick whenever the entrance was used (and we were not even at the table beside the door). Oh also, the ladies toilets was cramped. But seeing as you are at a restaurant to eat and not to go to the toilet, I don't see why I should drop a star because of these....

Tucked away a few steps off noisy Camden Street is a new and unexpected little surprise know as Camden Kitchen. The decor struck me as a fusion of Restoration Hardware (Americans will know this store), a French country house, and a dash of hip. In a word: unpretentious. The soundtrack was cool and I think I may have even spotted some ambient Daft Punk. The music was just the perfect volume to set the vibe without creating a distraction. It's a refreshing, cozy 2 level bistro with an open kitchen in the back. You know a place is confident if the kitchen is in plain view. Oh right, they have food there too... I better get back to reviewing that. The menu appears to change daily since it was brought to us on a clipboard (well, really more like a butcher block with a clip at the top) and there's a big chalkboard of daily specials. It appears intimidating at first but I was quickly relieved when the professional staff greeted us by explaining some of the specials of the day: fresh pea soup and ham salad with brie. I ordered the Bayonne Ham Salad with Brie and Celeriac Rémoulade while my wife tried the Guinea Fowl Coq au Vin with mash and fresh green beans. Our son wasn't hungry for lunch so we caved and let him order the Mango Rice Pudding. We watched them prepare our lunch since we were seated next to the kitchen and since we had the privilege of being some of the first customers of the day for this two-weeks-young kid on the block, our food was ready in a flash. The dishes were like works of art. I can't remember the last time I had a lunch this fancy. Every last detail was attended to each plate and I hesitated to eat right away so that I can admire the beauty as my mouth watered. A nice little tin bucket of freshly baked assorted breads was placed in the middle of the table, a perk you don't often find in Irish restaurants. The bread ranged from basic crusty French to Italian style laced with tomato, olives and cheese. Wow. I could have gotten full on just the bread it was so fresh and tasty. Clearly it was baked just a few hours earlier. The kitchen staff must have put in a full day's work and it was barely 2 pm. The ham salad was outstanding. The lettuce was a mix of rocket, coriander and a bunch of other distinct flavours I had never tasted before. It was garnished with two slices of that yummy bread, toasted and drizzled with olive oil and garlic. Again, just give me the bread and I'm happy enough. Yum! The Bayonne ham was like really thick-sliced prosciutto or Parma, but a flavour I had never before tasted. Mmm. Then, there were generous chunks of brie and just the right amount of celeriac rémoualde (again a new and exciting taste for me) with a bit of pickle relish. The flavours were an excellent combination of salted ham, lightly sweet and sour dressing and bitter lettuce. My wife's coq au vin disappeared before I had much of a chance to try it as I was busy with my own project. I managed to sneak a few combo bites of gravy covered mash and crunchy sauteed green beans. The essence of the meat was mixed in and I got a good feel for the flavour. Again, yum. Our son's palette isn't quite refined enough to enjoy a fancy dessert like Mango Rice Pudding and the server noticed straight away. She offered to bring him some ice cream instead and had a nice brief chat with him to make him feel more comfortable. A surprisingly friendly attitude towards a child that is almost non-existent in this hectic city. I could go on and on, but my fingers are sore. Go to Camden Kitchen now and try it for yourself. In fact, grab your Dublin City Bikes card and your partner and wheel on over there. The Grantham Street station is right across the way. What are you waiting for?

Pork belly, celeriac and braised scallions
Zara N.

Five stars for this bijou little spot just off Camden street with its elegant, excellently executed food, non-intrusive and prompt service and two French chefs working their magic in the open kitchen. From start to finish my dinner was just perfection. I started proceedings off with a pork belly dish that was served with a celeriac dauphinoise and braised spring onions, it was the best starter I've had the pleasure of eating in a long while! A main of hake followed, with unctuously soft baby potatoes accompanied by strings of samphire to add some saltiness to the dish, it was so deliciously light I polished it off leaving plenty of room for a decadent dessert of spiced chocolate fondant with coconut sorbet. It tasted like an upper-class Bounty bar and was absolutely divine! Definitely on my list of favourite spots in the city, and easy on the pocket too if you go for the excellently-priced Early Bird (€25), couldn't recommend it enough.

X'mas lunch menu #dublinshopslocal
Tim L.

Great recommendation by Emily to celebrate my beau's birthday here! We availed of the X'mas lunch set menu, very reasonably priced at €25 for 3 courses - every dish was executed very well with a strong emphasis on local organic ingredients. Lunch for 2 + 2 bubbly + carafe of red = €100 including tips! A tiny irk was when I mentioned my reservation upon arrival, the Maître d did not check the book and insisted on asking the no. of diners. What's the bleeding point of making a reservation then?!

Camden Kitchen is pretty small, the tables are close together but there's a really nice feel to it so I'm not complaining. The couple beside us were almost finishing up and when they saw what we'd ordered they told us it was excellent! :) For starters I chose chicken liver parfait with brioche toast and plum chutney. The parfait was melt in the mouth. Fiancé chose haddock croquettes with salmon sashimi, a beetroot purée and celeriac sauce. For main course I went with the Hake served with clams, risotto and braised scallions. He chose the special - Wicklow pheasant which came with cauliflower purée and Jerusalem artichoke. Both dishes were cooked perfectly! Consumed two bottles of red wine but now to my favourite part... Dessert. I had chocolate brownie which came with chocolate brownie ice-cream. OMG - food heaven! Fiancé got the orange Madeleines which came with Cointreau ice-cream. I got coffee with mine and he got a glass of Muscat. Just writing about the food is making me want to go back even though the cleaver on the wall above the kitchen is a tad unnerving!

Very cute intimate restaurant just off Camden Street, this place instantly impressed me with it's cosy dinning room. The staff were quick to great and before I knew it we had drinks on the way and our food order was in! Excited has they pics on their Yelp page had my mouth watering all day leading up to eating here. It did not disappoint, great food which was prepared fantastic and presented with such style and elegance. I love attention to detail with how a plate is served and they show a great love for the food. Lovely atmosphere in here, felt you could easy unwind after dinner for awhile without feeling the need to quickly vacate the table. Perfectly cooked food with great flavours in a very inviting restaurant. Would highly recommend this place to others,

Duck leg. A little too dry and lack of flavor. Probably looks better than its taste.
Lena H.

I came here because of the good reviews and gotta say it was just average foods quality and I was disappointed. My entree was a bit dry and tasteless (I ordered the duck leg) and the appetizer lacks flavor and too heavy. My waiter didn't seem to understand me so the waitress gotta come and help out. Good service overall; however, foods could have been better. By the way, they served me one piece of bread which I found pretty odd. Not that it really matters to me but I think it is very cheap to serve a single diner with one piece only. Do they serve two for a party of two? Lol

Food done right! Perfectly cooked, great flavor, fancy without any pretentious frills. Great staff, lovely atmosphere. A small menu but definitely something for everyone, well thought with a nice range of proteins and veggie options. I got the soup for the starter, mushroom, which had very little flavor, but that was the only thing I didn't like. For the main I got the chicken leg, and I've honestly never had chicken so moist or tender in my entire life. It literally fell off the bone! Perfectly seasoned, excellent sides, such a delicious meal. For dessert I got the creme brulee which was heavenly! Not a sugary, soupy mess like most restaurants, instead it had almost a flan texture to it, very smooth and not overly sweet at all. The top was so crispy and cracked as you broke into it.... perfection. And such a big portion! Couldn't finish it, which I still regret. Left absolutely stuffed. The mulled wine is also fab, so delicious and makes you realize just how terrible the cheap market ones are! Great ambience, intimate and cozy, would definitely go back for a date night. We were a big group for lunch and everyone loved their meal. It's a place I'd be excited to go back to, to try something different from the menu, knowing it will always be delicious.

I just don't give a 5? Otherwise this would be a contender for one. Came to Dublin for a weekend after a conference at the Ritz Powerscourt, I would rate this place well above the Gordon Ramsay at the Ritz. Chilled out, nice small place with great dishes that let the food do the talking. Worth a visit!

This restaurant was so delicious!! My husband and I went on our first night in Dublin having no idea what to expect. I ordered the fish and he ordered the pork. We had a bottle of red wine and each ordered dessert and we were under €100! Incredible quality at an amazing price. All of it was so amazing! We couldn't stop talking about how good our meals were. Our server was so nice and helpful and the restaurant itself is so cute and quaint. Definitely check it out of you are like us and cannot decide where to go, you won't be disappointed!

I had no idea it even existed until a friend who is also a Yelper posted some pictures of the amazing looking food and I knew I had to try it. It's right off of Camden Street but is completely unassuming...hidden in plain sight and what a hidden gem it is. I didn't know how busy they would be on a Thursday night so I called to book a reservation and they had the time I wanted open which was already a good sign. We arrived and the restaurant was packed but our table was waiting for us, calling us over. The decor is super simple and it doesn't look impressive but I never judge a book by its cover. Once looking over the menu, I was blown away. Everything looked good and I knew I just couldn't have it all. I knew I wanted to save a bit of room for dessert so I decided to share a starter. I split the fish cakes with my partner which were absolutely delicious. The perfect amount crispy, not too squishy and the beetroot puree complimented the dish just perfectly. It was the perfect amount for a light starter. For the main, I had my heart set on either the duck confit or the hake with parmesan rissotto so I ordered both...of course to split :) The duck confit was the best I've ever had. It was so flavorful, crisp on the outside and the fat was seared perfectly and the meat inside was still juicy and flavorful. The pairing of the lentils with carrots and bacon was just perfect for the overall flavor. I only had a bite of the hake with the parm riosotto as my partner liked it equally as much. We nearly licked the plates clean. With 2 courses this tasty, I knew the dessert would be equally as delicious and when I see a chocolate brownie with ice cream I can never pass. The brownie was warm and crumbled when you put your fork into it. The food was so good and the service was so spot on that I forgot all of the hustle and bustle around us and felt like I was the only one in the restaurant. I can't wait to come back and try a few more things that caught my eye on the menu!

The Pig's Ear - Oyster with beef tartare (2026)

After a full day exploring the historic grounds of Trinity College, we crossed the street for…read moredinner at The Pig's Ear, a Michelin-recommended restaurant that reimagines traditional Irish cooking with creativity, refinement, and genuine respect for the country's culinary heritage. We began with one of the evening's standout dishes: A layer of finely seasoned beef tartare topped with a plump oyster. It was essentially surf and turf in an oyster shell. It may sound like an unlikely pairing, but the briny sweetness of the oysters and the rich, velvety tartare complemented each other perfectly. Warm Guinness bread served with creamy Irish butter followed--a simple offering elevated by exceptional ingredients and flawless execution. For our mains, we chose two classics that perfectly captured the restaurant's philosophy. The Dublin coddle transformed a humble working-class staple into an elegant, deeply satisfying dish without sacrificing its comforting soul, while the Barnsley lamb chop showcased outstanding Irish produce through expert preparation and an impeccable sauce. Chef Stephen McAllister has built a menu inspired by centuries of Irish cookbooks, folklore, and family recipes, elevating familiar dishes through modern technique rather than reinventing them beyond recognition. It's a thoughtful approach that honors tradition while delivering a dining experience worthy of its Michelin recommendation. The setting is equally charming. Housed in a historic Georgian townhouse overlooking Trinity College, The Pig's Ear feels intimate, welcoming, and effortlessly elegant. Warm wood finishes, leather banquettes, soft lighting, and whimsical pig-themed accents create an atmosphere that invites you to linger. We arrived just after 5:15 p.m. and were fortunate to be seated by the front windows, where we enjoyed views of the college grounds as the evening light settled over Dublin. As with many historic buildings, there are practical limitations. The restaurant is spread across multiple floors connected by steep staircases, making it inaccessible for wheelchair users. During my visit, the sink in the men's restroom was out of order, making handwashing difficult. It was a noticeable oversight in an otherwise polished dining experience. No restaurant is perfect, and the restroom issue should certainly be addressed. Still, the quality of the cooking, the warm hospitality, the beautiful setting, and the restaurant's heartfelt celebration of Irish culinary tradition far outweighed that minor inconvenience. I would happily return the next time I'm in Dublin--and perhaps tuck a small bottle of hand sanitizer into my pocket, just in case.

It is perfectly cooked with great texture, and the subtle curry spice added something really special without overpowering it. The cheesecake was also a highlight, not just for the flavor but for the presentation. For some reason, it comes in a glass jar tucked inside a paper bag. The wait staff were attentive, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. The whole place has a warm, classy atmosphere. This makes it ideal if you're looking for something more elevated while still feeling comfortable. Highly recommend.

We started with some olives, and some bread with duck butter "Navettes of bread/Achill Island Sea salt/duck butter". The duck butter was so good, I wanted to lick the serving container. I resorted to scraping as much out as I could. My starter was absolutely amazing. It was the "Foie gras crème/Brioche/apple/sauternes/grape". So delicious, I am still thinking about it. The main I had was the Skeaghanore duck breast. The sauce was amazing, however the duck was just ok. I think if it were sliced into smaller medallions, it would have been easier to eat. I struggled to cut it into bite sized pieces even though I was provided with a good knife. The 2 pieces were a hearty serving as well. It would be more palatable (I found it a bit tough) if it were presented with smaller cut medallion pieces (with crispy skin would be amazing!) I had tasted my friend's filet of prime Irish beef, and while it is a nice presentation, they both left their sides untouched. Overall, I feel like The Vintage Kitchen had a few hits and misses. Still fun spot to try out though! Desserts were amazing, we just were so full by then! The price at the time was €72 and although there were hits and misses, the portions served imho was worth the price.

What a beautiful event!…read more i've noticed events like this creep up in popularity around Dublin and isn't it a richer place for it. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's nights like this that instill in you a pride in being Irish, and a pride in our past, present and future. Honestly there were some parts that gave me goosebumps, the type I get every now and again when I'm wandering around the city and realise that after eight years away, I can honestly say there is no place in the world I would rather live right now. It's hard to decide what the highlight is. I won't go into massive detail as those before have, but allow me to point out the bones of what makes this into such a gorgeous way to spend a Saturday; - The setting. Old Georgian wooden stairs that are worn down in the middle by hundreds of years of stepping on them, the old crumbling cornicing, the candle lit old antique tables. - The food. Each course was a perfect size, and the perfect representation of modern x traditional Irish cuisine. Quality ingredients, beautifully presented - The talks in between courses by food historian Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire. Funny, informative, nostalgic, and funny again. If you didn't pick up on it already, I would highly recommend this as a night out. Our host for the evening was awesome, lots of banter and amazing stories. It was really captivating and enjoyable hearing him speak, since and recite poems between courses. Everything was linked back to the food which was just as amazing - traditional Irish scran but served up a bit fancier than normal. Kind of like if your Mum went to a class to learn how to plate her Sunday meals in a nice way? I really enjoyed the food and only the main needed more sauce but they happily delivered us some. Yum. What a fabulous evening, this was a beautiful way to experience Dublin in all its glory.

I don't eat there in the states and I'm not eating there here. We pulled up Yelp and found this place and I'm so glad we did. Our server was friendly and really sold me on the lunch special. The lunch special was a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun with a cup of soup of the day. It wasn't like the pulled pork we have in the states. It was more chunks of pork than strands. It was delicious and the soup was very good. The restaurant is upstairs and overlooking the street. They have wi-fi so I was able to get caught up on travel plans and such.

I waited too long to review so some of the details escape me. Such as the appetizer we shared:…read moreConfit Pork Shoulder Croquettes, with quince puree, pickled shittake, and celeriac remoulade. The entrees were more memorable. I had the Fillet Of Irish Beef. I hardly ever order filet mignon but I'm glad I did. It may well be the best I've ever had. With Café de Paris butter, shallot pureé, pepper sauce, rocket (arugula), and a side of french fries. The flavor of the meat itself was incredible and the three sauces complemented it perfectly. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. French fries aren't normally something to get excited about but these were a gastronomic masterpiece; the insides soft and sweet, not starchy, the outsides browned and subtly crisp, and I don't know what they were fried in but these had so much flavor it must have been beef tallow or duck fat. I'd come here again just to have a platter of these amazing fries! The wife's Coq Au Vin Façon La Maison (chicken breast braised in red wine, smoked bacon, mushrooms, baby onions, roast carrot, pomme purée) was equally memorable. I've never considering ordering this, thinking it too simple or plain. Not this. The red wine sauce really elevated a simple braised chicken. And how do they make even a simple carrot taste so good? We each had a wine from the ample selection of by the glass offerings and shared a gingery dessert which we both enjoyed. The service was good and not rushed. Just don't be intimidated by the waiter, who announced when he brought the bill that tip was not included; it seems this could have been handled more subtly.

La Maison was a delight! It was rainy but we wanted to sit outside, and there's a covered outdoor area with lots of smaller 2- and 4-top tables, so we were seated there. It is on a side street in downtown Dublin, so not as busy as main streets but still lots of food traffic, which added to the lively ambience. It was cold outside, but we stayed warm under here. We had a lovely meal. We started with a bread basket and shared shrimp appetizer, which were both great. For the main course, I ordered the duck breast, which was prepared perfectly. My husband had the steak which was also cooked nicely. To drink, we had a couple of glasses of wine each; La Maison has a solid wine menu with lots of delicious French wines and a few Italian wines as well. The service was pleasant and friendly, and the prices were just about right for the food and wine quality. Overall we had a lovely experience and would dine here again.
