My Fuel Pump went out. I Had my car towed to CT&A. I told them I thought it was a bad fuel pump. Assuming they would CHECK THAT FIRST~ They wanted to charge me 133.50 to verify it was a bad fuel pump. this is 1.5 Hours @89.00/Hr. When I complained that I thought 1.5 hours was too long to DETERMINE that it was a bad fuel pump, They said ""That is what you signed up for".reffering to their "estimate". I later was told the fuel pump was THE LAST(!) thing they checked! even AFTER I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD FUEL PUMP WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED! After complaining another person within ear shot of the phone agreed to knock down the price to 89.00(1 hour) .BEWARE this shop starts the estimate at 133.50 before they do anything at all~ If the diagnosis takes less time than 1.5 hours, they still want to charge you for 1.5 hours. The way it SHOULD work is to start the estimate with with a time that matches the amount of time it normally would take to diagnose a similar problem. ie: Start the initial estimate at 1 hour, then if it takes longer, call the customer and tell them the diagnosis is taking longer than 1 hour and more time (Money) is necessary. Really I feel most likely took 1/2 hour or less. But I was charged for 1.5 I submitted a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair Consumer Affairs read more
