We were visiting family for a couple of days in Allen. On the drive there we passed Calloway's. I had intended to pick up a plant for our hosts at some point during the trip, so we went ahead and turned around. I was specifically looking for a houseplant and Calloway's didn't disappoint. I purchased a large Alocasia Regal Shield for $20; something that would have cost me much more in the midwest where I'm from. Spend a little time looking through the plants. If you do a quick glance, you might miss something. I did my first couple of trips around the department. Finally decided on a plant and a pot and we were on our way. If you love houseplants and want to shop local, definitely check-out Calloway's. They offer much, much more - from yard decor to merchandise for major landscaping upgrades/renovations. Friendly customer service, fair prices, and complimentary bottled water while you shop. 4/5 stars because some of the plants just needed to be dumped, or at least deeply discounted because of their condition. Poor service and selection. I went to this Calloway's yesterday looking for a specific tree. There was absolutely no one anywhere that could help me. It was really windy and many trees tipped over blocking the paths. I couldn't find what I was looking When I checked the tags on a couple I thought might be related many had no prices attached. I mentioned it to the cashier she denied what I saw. Strike 2. I also checked the price on their moss roses. $2.49 there and $1.49 everywhere else. Since I needed better service I went over to Moon's Nursery on Coit in Frisco. What a difference! Incredible customer service from Frantz Xantus. Really disappointed in Calloway's. read more

I have used Calloway's "Pick and Plant" program from large shrubs and small trees. They did an excellent job and the trees all are healthy and beautiful. It was well worth the expense. I visited Calloway's on Parker Road in Carrollton for some landscape ideas for my front yard. The staff have always been very helpful. In particular, I had the pleasure of working with Josh for landscape ideas. Josh is very professional, knowledgeable of variety of plants, and great customer service. I've always found that most of the employees at the Plano (Hwy 121) store are quite helpful, but I just had an insulting experience with one of the managers, Mark. An employee didn't know the answer to my question, so after conferring with 2 other employees and not getting the answer, she went into Mark's office to see if he could answer it. He was totally uninterested in even being in the conversation. I mean, literally turned away from me when I was explaining the issue. Then went back and sat at his manager desk. He may be an expert, but if you don't use that knowledge to help people - what good is it? I always buy something when I go to Calloways, even if I'm just there to ask for advice. But after the dismissive exchange from Manager Mark, I walked out without an answer and without purchasing anything. I'm a Calloways loyalty member, but that experience will have me going to Shades of Green, Green Acres and Lowes for my gardening needs from here on out. If it was just one employee, I can look past it, but when it is the manager of the whole store, I cannot. read more

I came here during tax free weekend and was surprised that they had some pretty good sales on top of the tax free deal. i ended up getting a vitex shrub, zz plant, and some smaller plants for the house. the plants were all in good condition and everything was very reasonably priced. plants are nicely arranged and organized and there are even mini fridges located throughout the nursery filled with free full sized water bottles which was fantastic in the hot texas summer heat. read more

Called This past Friday and asked if they had a good selection of Begonias. The young lady enthusiastically said, "Yes. We have a lot of begonias." After driving 10 miles, we arrive to see a pathetic array of only a few flats and they were picked over leaving a good portion of reject plants. Note to staff: be honest or check to make sure you know what you are talking about. I will know better next time to insist the staff person checks the situation. It's hard to trust a business when you are lied to. read more

I would not recommend using Callaways for anything; I used them for design, installation, and maintenance none have been worth the expense. Most of my plants have died, and their maintainable people will not replace them; I have called and complained that most have died. They sent someone out to inspect my irrigation even though they brag that they replace any plant bought from Callaway for any reason. I believe they will only do anything they can to get out of honoring that warrantee; as for their maintenance, it does no good to use their maintenance. It will not make it any easier to get the dead plants replaced. I would not recommend Callaways Nurseryway. read more

It's a pleasure receiving real quality customer service from people that understand their job. I sought professional help to redo my front flower beds. Paid for the design, install, soil prep (what a joke) and upgrade of the watering system to make sure I would have a good result.... I wasted my money. Currently the only thing doing well are the tall grasses over growing my entry sidewalk. We are going to have to move these. And the "warranty" charges me an install price for every plant they replace. I should've just gone and bought some plants and done it myself. read more

A representative, Paula, coordinated the tree planting from start to finish, and I was impressed by the superb communication over email. Nice selection of healthy plants, but I had questions and approached two women stocking. The lady who got 'stuck' with me made it obvious throughout the interaction she thought she had better things to do. I came in with the intention of purchasing a lot but since my business didn't seem needed I ended up leaving without buying anything. I went to a different location later that had equally great selection of healthy plants, but employees that didn't make me feel like an inconvenience and who are genuinely friendly. This Calloway's Nursery is better kept than the one near me in Lewisville. Their plant selection was adequate even for a weekend. I mainly focused on the indoor plant selection, but I've been here with my dad over the years and their outdoor plant selection is also good. I would say for indoor plants, this location carries more indoor tree varieties than the other one's I frequent, so if I'm in the market for another tree, then I know where I'm going. The location's plants were spread out well enough where I didn't feel swarmed by the plants and could actually look at each individual pot. They didn't have many pothos (I only saw one), but it was a weekend and that wasn't my main reason for going. This store carries Steve's Leaves which for me is a plus, but could be harmful to a very new plant lover. There aren't always tags describing what the plant is, so you can't google how to care for it which could lead to a loss of money and a plant baby if not taken care of well, but if you know what you are looking at/can identify it, you should be fine. While I was here, I bought a Creeping Fig plant and two small Steve's Leaves String of Pearls. The Creeping Fig was the last one I found in the store, so I didn't have much choice into which one I got, but it's still doing great a week later. The String of Pearls however threw me through a loop. I'm not a big succulent mom, so I had to do some research. When I transplanted my string of pearls (probably too soon), the roots were poorly developed so they tumbled out of the pots. I learned that it takes a while for the roots to develop and shouldn't be transplanted until further development. They are doing fine a week later (so far), but as a first time succulent mom, it was alarming. I do not find fault in Calloway's really because it was a Steve's Leaves plant, but they do carry Steve's Leaves so be careful. String of Pearls is a popular plant right now, so they are probably getting them out the door as fast as they can and Calloway's is selling them because they're a nursery. The store staff was lovely which is always a plus. Take aways: Lovely Nursery with a great staff and plant options, and do your plant research. read more

This past spring I purchased tomato plants from Lowe's and this Calloway's. After a month you could easily tell which plant was from Calloway's. These plants were 3x's the size of the Lowe's and by the end of summer the Lowe's plants had maybe grown a few inches compared to the feet of the Calloway's plants. This is repeated by everything I have purchased from Calloway's when compared to the Lowe's and the Home Depot plants. From now on I'm heading to Calloway's whenever I need something. Great selection of plants. But that's not why I'm writing a bad review. Customer service sucks I had a rather unfortunate experience with a specific employee. She had short blond hair and is middle aged. For someone who is old, I'd expect her to have a little more grace when having small talk with customers. That however was not the case. She insulted me as a mom. Being a mom herself, you would think she would know better and not judge other moms for their short comings. On another note she kept water plants that already looked like they've been watered. So watch out for over watered plants and (some) rude employees. read more

I've liked Calloway's for years. Like most fans, I've spent $1000's. It used to be if one store didn't have something they called around for you, only 1 of 12 I've driven to offered. I'm disabled and it's difficult for me to drive, let alone create paths through plants to find something. Pleasant employees helpful if looking for something in the nursery. Should look into: Efficiency items, such as individual SKUs for every item, color, etc. Creating paths around plants on the ground. a 24 inch reach is max. Should be 18" with a tiny walk path. Colors should be sorted. Finally if someone needs a plant, be able to see exact inventory of other stores on the computer. read more

I use to love this place. I have been a very loyal customer for years because of one staff member who went above and beyond years ago to help me personally pick out all the plants in my yard. Regularly we would come in very 3-4 months to do flowers all over the yard. Our house backs up to a golf coarse so all of us neighbors compete for having the best yard. I'm very sad to say I heard this staff member is no longer there. Larry was the best thing about this place. Calloway's you lost the only person that made you worth coming too. First time visiting Calloway's. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and so helpful. I use to have a landscaper who did everything for me. When I downsized I didn't have a need for one. I recently decided I wanted some color back in my life! I went to Calloway's to look at some flowers and got so much more. They asked me about how much sun the flowers would be getting and how often I would remember to take care of them. (Great question as I'm not home often)! Spent the whole day at Calloways Gardenfest today. I was impressed with the array of guest speakers they had lined up for us. My favorite speaker by far was "The Bulb Hunter". He was so enthused about his subject he made me want to go for a drive in the country hunting down old homesteads and seeing what kind of plants were growing. My next favorite was Faith Savage and her talk about using colors in the garden. She had some great insights into use of different color combinations, placement of plants, and creating movement in the garden. This is not my regular Calloways store as I live half hour away but found this store to be spacious, well organized, and the employees were very helpful. An employee actually loaded my mulch onto the cart and then into my car for me. I have NEVER gotten that kind of service anywhere else. I would recommend this Calloways to anyone who wants information about anything having to do with growing plants from how to plant, to what to plant, and where to plant it. This review is regarding only our experience with the delivery of purchases. Our in-store experience has been very good. Each time we have paid to have medium sized trees delivered to our home they were not delivered in the time frame specified. We called each time as the delivery windows drew to a close and they said the driver would be there any minute. They never have been. For today's delivery they are an hour past the end of the delivery schedule and the driver called to say they are still in a different city. If you plan to have product delivered, don't count on the time frame they promise, and don't make any other plans for the bulk of your day. read more

Calloway's is my go to nursery for everything flower and yard related. They have extensive knowledge about flowers and how to best care for them. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as they know a lot about how to maintain flowers and give tips on keeping them looking fresh and vibrant. Calloway's also offers an array of products to help with anything you might need for bug problems, tree/shrub root issues, rabbit issues, ect. They also usually have discounts on select items every week and their garden club gives members discounts and accumulates points for future rebates. This location is off 121 which can be a little bit tricky coming right off the toll road, but does have another back road to access. The parking lot is large with ample amount of space and the facility itself is very large offering more variety than other locations. read more

Not very happy with the collection they carry. Was hardly able to find any vegetable plants. Walmart had better collection.

An associate didn't immediately walk up to help me but when one asked me if I'd found what I was looking for and I told her what I wanted she directed me to an area. After I had checked that area out and was walking around Deb asked if she could help me and we talked and she helped me a lot. In fact I went back there today to get more of the items. I really liked her and hope I'll be able to take in a pot or two for her to plant an arrangement in. read more
