Went to Pier 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar on Mother's Day, so there was a bit of a wait after check-in,…read morebut we were able to hang at the bar and grab drinks while we waited which made it way more manageable. The waitress was attentive the whole time, bathrooms were clean, and I really appreciated how mindful the staff was with my deaf friend. That always stands out to me. The calamari was okay. I liked it, but my friend said she's definitely had better. I also had to ask for lemon with the calamari. Last time I came with a friend they were completely out of lemons, so I was glad that wasn't an issue this time. I'd probably try something different instead of the calamari next visit though. We got the Pier 88 combo crab boil with the "All of the Above" seasoning in mild. It came out super quick and was very well seasoned. I personally thought it leaned a little salty, but I also saw other tables adding extra salt to their food, so I guess it just depends on your taste. Portions were good and everything tasted delicious. Very kid-friendly spot, pretty loud and lively inside, and honestly a great place for hosting bigger groups, family get-togethers, or even just catching up with a friend over drinks and seafood. I've been here before and would definitely come back again.

We started with the clam chowder, which was extremely watered down and completely lacking in flavor. It tasted more like soup that had been diluted than a proper chowder. We also ordered shrimp with the Pier 88 seasoning, but the spices were barely noticeable--there was almost no seasoning at all, which is pretty disappointing for a place that markets itself around bold flavors. The service was just okay--nothing terrible, but nothing that made up for the food. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype, and we won't be returning.

They even bring out consomé with chips and salsa, and let me tell you all of it was fire exactly what I wanted and didn't know I needed Now, the service was great; friendly and quick. It was just me and my daughter. She ordered a sangría and 12 ostiones preparadas, and I got my pescado zarandeado with a cerveza. Thank you Carolina! The vibe though... definitely something else. It's got that hole-in-the-wall cantina energy loud music, guys hanging out, and waitresses with the buchona look The service toward men is flirtatious, It gives the place that mysterious, slightly underground feeling maybe that's part of what makes the food so good! like there's more to it, a whole story behind the food and the energy here. Overall the food is phenomenal. Just know what kind of vibe you're walking into definitely more of a late-night, grown-up scene than a family restaurant. But for that pescado zarandeado, I'd make the drive again.

We came as a group of 8 on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes for a table. It was well worth…read morethe wait and the servers were very helpful and attentive. This is one of the best or the best Mexican seafood meals I have ever had. As a spicy lover I was over the moon with the ceviche, torre, and tacos durados. Two wimps in our group were not into seafood or not into spicy so they had quesadilla with fries or chicken tenders with fries. If this is you, just order a kids meal like a boss! One person had the soup and loved that as well. Maybe ask for your fries unseasoned if you don't want too much flavor. Can't wait to come back soon with friends because of the fun atmosphere and inventive salsas. A mariachi band might even make the rounds so bring your appetite, dancing shoes and a little cash.

Just good enough but no intentions to return…read more Service: lacks urgency and attentiveness. Friendly but unaware and unchecked which tells me this is how they always operate. The restaurant was half full (5 tables) 3 servers mostly inside of the kitchen area the whole time. Our drinks came after the food order was taken which took a while for how simple their menu is. The food took about 30 minutes to come out and was delivered by another server. Our server (blonde hair) never returned, no refills, and our dirty dishes were not picked up. Basically she came by when we were done eating. All servers seemed extra attentive to the tables with only men. A lot of socializing going on in the back. The food: -The aguachile tostada was the best dish. -The shrimp crunchy taco was okay, the sauce on top seemed more fitting for a sushi plate than a shrimp taco. Something about the flavor didn't make a lot of sense. -the breaded fish and shrimp tacos okay, they're doing way too much with the seasonings in the breading. -out of oysters at 1 pm on a Friday. Overall not too authentic compared to other seafood restaurants. Trying too hard with the flavors. Uninviting experience. If service had pep in their step I would give more grace.
