Been playing here for years. Today after playing 9 holes on my scooter I was told I could mo longer ride my personal vehicle on their course. Had no issue with it in the past or this morning, somehow just became an issue. Won't be coming back. read more

To get to the course, you exit the freeway and then drive past some farms on a rural road until you end up in a suburban development, which is curious. The course itself is in okay condition, the greens are good but some of the fairways have patchy grass. I lost way more balls than I usually do to the hazards, which seem very numerous on this course (I have been neglecting the driving range for too long). I would not say that there were a huge number of memorable holes, although the steeply uphill 13th hole was a highlight, with some glorious views over the east bay, which were especially nice at golden hour. read more

Came for a wedding and it was a really nice venue! There was ample parking and what I really appreciated was the food was really good, from appetizers, dinner, to after party snacks. The bartenders were also super friendly and efficient. read more

The good is the layout of the course and all that goes with it like the bar and grill. Bad. No gol carts in the parking lot. Also the handicap system using GPS to limit how close you can get to the greens. You s j ould have backup mirrors to back out safely. The San Leandro golf course puts up yellow stakes so know how close you can go. read more

Alternative Family Services today held their first golf tournament here. While I didn't get a chance to golf, about 90 folks did on a perfect day and lovely course. And, bonus to the food that was served for an early dinner. Caesar salad with great homemade croutons, delicious and creamy Mac and cheese and tender, perfectly cooked tri tip. My husband and I held our wedding celebration in September at Callippe Preserve and everything exceeded our expectations! Our guests raved about the beautiful views, we loved dancing underneath the stars, the fire pit was a hit and the sparkler sendoff was so fun. Morgan and her team are just amazing! Morgan was so kind and thoughtful in all of our communications. I could really feel that she cared about our event. I tend to be anxious and Morgan was able to put me at ease so that I could enjoy my day. It was the best day of our lives and we had so much fun! We searched all over looking for a venue that would meet all of our special needs within our budget and Callippe checked all of the boxes. I'm so happy we chose this venue. You really just can't beat it. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the Bay Area, Pleasanton is so charming and the location was great for all of our in town and out of town guests. Swanky public course. Callippe is located in the southern hills of Pleasanton, only a few minutes away from downtown. You can enjoy the ranchettes of the happy valley neighborhood, tons of wildlife, and stunning views of Mount Diablo throughout the 18 holes. The course itself is well maintained but a challenging play. Hole 17 & 18 are mad tough. The front nine are significantly easier than the back so that's your opportunity to set yourself up for a good score. Pace of play was okay, finished up in about 4 maybe 4.5 hours midday on a Monday. Carts are fully equipped with a navi, which I love because I'm lame and don't have a range finder, so this gives you a good sense of distance. The carts have to stay on the cart path for most of this course, so there's that. Tee boxes are elevated and those greens are sneaky fast! $67 per person on a weekday with a cart, seems average for the area. You can save yourself about 20 bucks with their twilight hours (anything passed 3 PM). Bartender was super sweet! I had a bloody mary to start the round and a shot at the turn, other than that, I didn't explore the restaurant. Heard they offer good brekky deals, so I'll have take advantage next time! read more

I had the pleasure of playing here last weekend. It's a nice course, pretty far to venture into the Pleasanton hills. It has decent views, the course was in great condition. Very well maintain, but I have to say the back 9 is a BEAST! Course is walkable, but cart will probably be best, especially for the back 9. Speaking of carts, I really like their carts. It has a great gps system on it. Don't even need a range finder! I played at Stonebrae as well, and I would give the edge to Callippe. One of the better non country club golf courses in the area I would say! read more

No golf carts in the parking lot as of June 1st,, I do not know of any other golf course that has this policy, I understand this is due to an incident where a golf cart ran into a car and litigation followed,, Well wait until someone trips in the parking lot while lugging golf bag loaded with 14 clubs, wet weather gear , golf balls and misc , gear,, or has a heart attack during 90 degree weather,, the ambulance chasers would love to have that case. read more

pro shop was friendly and so was the starter. Unfortunately, callippe has a reputation for being slow and on this day, it was only half true. We finished the front 9 in 2hr15 min but the back was terrible and took 3 hrs!! No marshall in sight either. When we made the turn, there were 3 groups on the 10th and should've been a sign. I get u have to wait for the fairway to clear on this short par 4 but it didn't get any better. course is in great shape and the green were soft, so u could hunt the flag. I just wish, it would play faster. read more

Today was the worst. Tee off at 10:30. Finished 9 at 1:50. Finished 15 holes at 4:00 pm. 5.5 hours to play 15 holes. No marshals all day. There was a 40 person tournament ahead with no concept of time. 30 minute holes. This was on a Friday! We gave up after 15 holes it was so frustrating! read more

This is the first time I have played at this course. Easy check in on reservations for our 4some for a 814am Thursday tee time. Friendly but all business staff in a nicely stocked pro shop. Did catch his name but starter was chill & friendly with a few jokes on this chilly morning. Course is full of beautiful views and was in good condition versus other public course I play Tee boxes recently aerated but they pick up plugs which was great. Fairways where for a majority of the holes in good condition with few bare spots. I am a high handicapper and I enjoyed the challenge. Cart paths are all concrete throughout and speed of play was very good with rangers passing every few holes. We played in 4 hours 20 minutes and gps screen if you fall behind lets you know with a script reminder. We only fell a few minutes behind a few minutes. Grill had a very simple menu of bar food. Food was tasty and served was prompt and friendly. For non Pleasanton resident seniors for weekday play was $58 with a cart. All and all, although I have played easier courses I prefer to play here because of its good condition, staff, and overall service. read more

Best golf course in the east bay. Nice staff with a fully stocked pro shop and restaurant. The chipping green, putting green, and range are top class quality that allows golfers to practice their game. The head pro AJ Herbert has ran this golf course incredibly well and formed a great community here. You will never be disappointed on the condition of golf here. This is a really nice course with a great layout. We always get excited to play here but today was a huge disappointment. We were expecting a slow round due to the shotgun start on Superbowl Sunday but the pace was absolutely unbearable. One of us left after 14 holes, another after 15, and the last two of us gutted out 17 holes in 5 hours and 30 minutes. At one point we saw a group of eight playing on a hole right outside the pro shop. If you play here, bring a good book because you might get stuck behind an "eightsome." Clown Management!! read more

Since I took up the sport again early this year, I inevitably got reunited with this course. This course is a notch up from most munis but also not as ritzy as some country club level courses. So, I like having the option to do all 3 when appropriate, and this course serves that middle tier just fine. Since it was about a decade since my last visit/review, I'll start with some observations on some changes. First there are more housing around the course, than there was 10+ years ago. The good is it is not on every hole. You may get a glimpse of backyards every now and then, maybe 4-5 holes worth. Otherwise, most holes are to themselves which gives it an upscale feel. Then the course conditions don't seem as fresh as I remember. But when I went last, the course was in it's first 5 years. There are now pockets of dry/dead zones, and pockets of either poor drainage or wasted watering. These are some things that keep this place in that middle tier and not in the top. Muni courses you'll see this regularly, here in less frequency, but still observable. The bar area is pretty nice, definitely more upscale than most other golf courses. The bartenders are super cool and hospitable. Always serve with a smile, which makes a round that much more satisfying. They've got hot dogs/hot links available on the turn that can be in your hand within a minute or 2, which totally serves its purpose. And the quality of that dog is a notch above most others, again next tier. I love the design here, but it is on the hard side. If you are a high handicapper, then it will make for a long day. The greens are above average tough and will prove difficult the longer your putt is. What I really find difficult here is 3-4 holes have hazards running right in the middle of your hole. So instead of just trying to get closer, you now have to strategically evade these hazards. Easier said than done, and more likely will just add penalty strokes to your score. But it is still fun to play here, especially when you play other courses much more. We tend to come here in hopes to do better. So other muni courses are our practice/fun sessions, while we come here to test and measure any improvements in our game. To that, game on Callippe, game on! read more

Very nicely designed and maintained course, however pace of play is really slow because they're booking tee times only eight minutes apart and everyone's backed up into each other. We didn't get to tee off until about 20 minutes after our tee time due to them being backed up. Then it took us nearly 4 hours to play 12 holes and then we quit. Also the cart GPS thing is really annoying. If they are going to put up electric boundaries that disable carts in certain areas then they should also post clear signage marking the borders of these areas. read more

A pretty golf course with nice views and a good way to spend the day. The greens are fast and usually well kept. However, the bunkers have a lot of rocks in them and are too firm. The practice bunker next to the driving range had better, softer sand. It could be a seasonal issue, but there were a lot of squirrel and gopher holes. My foursome was constantly waiting for the foursomes ahead and my foursome kept getting bothered even though it wasn't our fault. This course isn't beginner friendly, so come if you can shoot most of your shots straight. read more

When I first started playing golf this was my favorite course to play because of the conditions. Now 22 years later it's in horrible condition. I played in a tournament on Saturday and hit my drive down the right side in the fairway and was in a 20' round dirt patch. Greens are good but that's about it. Fantastic golf course with a driving range and incredibly difficult greens. It was very hot (84 F) when I played but luckily there was a nice breeze throughout the entire round so it was not unbearable. Pro shop is clean, bathrooms even have a changing room that looks like a fitting room. Driving range is a grass range and suitable to get a warm up in before the round. They also have a decently sized chipping green and a putting green. For $60 @ twilight including riding in cart, I would love to play this all the time if I lived closer. It's also pretty hard to get tee times so definitely book early. The carts are really nice and have the best GPS system where you can use the touchscreen to see how far different areas of the hole are. Really helped with decision-making off the tee - the answer is not always driver on many holes. Because of such decision making needed and strategic placement of hazards/traps, I think this is a great course for those who like to think their way around the course/play course management. Definitely looking forward to the next time I can play here again. read more

This is a beautiful golf course in Pleasanton. It's an 18-hole Par 72 and depending on where you're going to tee off, black, blue, or white ranges between 6000-6,700 yards. As an average golfer, with a 15-18 handicap, you'll find this a challenging course. This is the first time I've played here and you must know course management to save you a few shots on your score. Some of the holes are tempting to hit with your driver, but there are several hazards lying in front of you. Depending on your driving distance, a long hitter can avoid these hazards but if you're not, try to use your woods. Some of the holes are only 300 yards par 4. Your second shot will only need a small wedge to the green. The greens are slow when we started but when it gets hotter in the afternoon, it gets faster. Their par 3 holes are nice and depending on your club length, can give you a good score of birdie or par. Their toughest hole is 18 par 5. You need to know where the hazard is lying in front of you. I did not use my driver on the tee since there's a ridge more than 200 yards. I used my 5 wood and came close to the ridge and hit my second again with a 5 wood and found the fairway. The pace of play is just slow. We played on a weekday but we had to wait on every hole for the group in front of us to move forward. By the time we got on hole 10, 2 groups were waiting to tee off. Their cart has GPS so you can get the yardage to the hole. However, several holes don't allow carts on the fairway. Overall, I liked the course. Very challenging but rewarding if you know how to manage the course. read more

Terrible experience at Callieppe. It took 3.5 hours to play nine holes. There was a group of 7 or 8 guys, two groups ahead of us, who would wait and meet up with each other at the tee box and watch each other hit. There was no Marshall the entire day trying to get things moving. When we finished nine holes and told the starter what was happening, he apologized and said they couldn't control bad golfers. 3.5 hours for nine holes is unacceptable. They needed a Marshall on the course, ensuring each group kept up with one another. That group of 7-8 guys that teed off around 1245-115 caused a massive pile-up behind them. The course was beautiful and well maintained, but hard to enjoy when your waiting 10-15 minutes in between shots! read more

A really beautiful spot for a wedding! I loved the rolling hills and sunset backdrop. It can get a little chilly and windy, so be sure to bring a jacket. the indoor/outdoor reception area had some nice heat lamps. Easy parking and super friendly staff too! Food was also so delicious. It's been a long time since I've been playing here. I really like this golf course, quite challenging and the greens are slopped really hard. The fairways are also slopped and many hazards. The fairways are nice and well kept. I tried to take pictures for each hole but I did miss one and get mixed up somehow, but at least, next time when I play here, I would have some ideas. I like the price for seniors on the weekdays, quite affordable. It's quite a walk and exercise for me LOL. I may ride next time I play. The pace was adequate, 4:20 hr wasn't bad. I don't think beginners would appreciate the slopes and ravines on this golf course, bring more balls if you play here. I did lose a few balls. read more

Played this beautifully designed course earlier today with my wife. Started at 11:16, finished at 4:56. That's 5 hours and 45 minutes. I went into the pro shop at the turn to ask if there were any Marshalls on the course, "nope".......this was a Thursday, not a weekend. Group in front of us had no class, ultra slow. The Nimrods behind us hit into us twice. Not a great experience unfortunately. read more

This is a difficult golf course and is in pretty good shape. Be prepared for a 5.5 to 6.0 hour round. If you finish quicker than that, be happy. In the last 20 years, I have only walked off two rounds of golf due to slow play, and they were both at Callippe. The last round, we had three groups on the first par 3. By the time we got to the 10th tee, we were 2 hours and 45 minutes into the round and we were the third group on the 10th tee. We called it a day and headed to the bar. The issue is the tee times are 8 minutes apart and the difficulty of the course creates slow play. If you have all the time in the world, want to see a beautiful course, and have a challenging round, this is a great spot, but I won't ever be going back. read more

I had the pleasure of having my wedding at the beautiful Callippe Preserve Golf Course. My husband and I worked with Morgan Chandler, their head of events, over the past year and I cannot rave more about the experience. When it comes to planning weddings, Callippe is a well oiled machine and will make the entire experience completely stress free!! Callippe provides so much of what you need for a wedding-- the food, alcohol, tables, chairs, linens, arbor, floral, coordinator, BEAUTIFUL scenery, set up, etc. (All info is easily found on their website which makes it so easy! Including pricing) The food is not what you would expect from a golf course wedding. The food was INSANELY good. So many of my guests are still texting me saying it was the best wedding food they ever had!! We did the prime rib, chicken piccata, pesto pasta, garlic mash potatoes, green beans for dinner. DROOLING thinking back to it. The pricing of the whole Callippe experience is a STEAL. I couldn't believe what we got for what we paid for. I truly don't think there's a better venue out there. I could go on and on. I will always be incredibly thankful that I found this venue and will hold it close to my heart forever.
