Castro Valley hosts this mini golf spot that's an affiliate of the Golfland family and features its two 18-hole ranges perfect for beginners and experts alike. After a few rounds on the green, consider venturing into their arcades to play some good old fashioned video games (Time Crisis and other dual player shooters, Mario Kart and other racing games, and fighting games) and skill games (like skee ball, table air hockey, and claw machines). Be wary, however, for those who have game cards from other Golflands, they're location specific so they won't work here unless you have one from this spot. Starting from the giant parking lot which is just off of a busy street, you'll make your way through the gates and stroll up the long walkway to the front desk where you'll register to get your clubs and balls (you'll get your choice from among a few colors). From there, you'll have your pick of the two courses, one for novices and one for the more adventurous. Make your way through the obstacles and mark your scorecard to determine the winner of bragging rights! We came for a birthday party and logistically, they have the main room amongst the beginner course which is well lit from all the open windows but I believe they have another space near the arcade for those looking for a more enclosed, private gathering. Once the guests arrived, they hosted an orientation and got the members all equipped and ready to go. The youngsters had a lot of fun and can't wait to return! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. You'll interact with them more at the arcades especially if you'll be redeeming prizes with your hard-earned digital tickets. The ticket values on the top tier prizes were pretty large but for frequent visitors or lucky winners, you can get some pretty neat stuff here. The mini prizes definitely reminded me of my times at the arcades when I was a kid, very nostalgic! Overall, Golden Tee Golfland is a well-maintained, family friendly environment conducive to an awesome time outdoors as well as an exhilarating experience soaking up the old school arcade vibe. We accumulated a ton of steps during our visit here and the kids could not stop hitting the greens to get their fluorescently colored balls into the holes. The obstacles are fun - there are water effects and moving doors and bridges. While most of them functioned as expected, there were a few hiccups with some like balls getting stuck or certain doors just not functioning as expected. For wetter seasons, the holes for the balls do end up pooling which makes picking the balls out a bit of an unpleasant endeavor. For being exposed to the outdoors, the place was in pretty good shape, however. It's a bummer that the Golflands don't have a unified system for the game cards as it just incentivizes families to just pick one and stick with it instead of venturing out and exploring the other amazing locations like this one. I took my daughter here today after school as little daddy daughter date surprise. We did the more difficult course and we had a good time. There was hardly anybody there because of the time of day - got there about 315pm. The place was clean and reasonably priced. I did online ticketing to save a few bucks. The one thing I noticed that there wasn't anybody at the front counter. I had to go inside to get somebody attention. A bell to call attention would be a simple solution. read more

We stayed on the right side. We came round 3pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. The staff were teenagers and they were nice and accommodating. The arcade inside had some good games and a prize area for tickets to trade. Overall a good and fun experience for the kids. Next time I want to try the other path. Something that was kinda weird is the sign that says "passage to the orient" in front of the Asian building on the course. I havent been here in years my friend suggested coming to get out the house. There was a short wait. 18 holes for about $16 not bad at all. It took about an hour. You scan your barcode to recieve the balls and you get to choose your color. I love that instead of them just handing it to you. We tried the more difficult side and it was so much fun. When your preteen kids has done "everything" and refuses to unglue themselves from the screen, this is a great place for them to spend outside. For $15/kid, they played for a couple hours, and then yes, bad mom, I allowed them to hang out in the arcade after. The mini golf area is well maintained and nicely painted. And today, I was surprised how clean and nice the arcade area is as well. The arcade is in the room behind the cashier, and it's about the size of a very large living room. Golden Tee Golfland brings back the nostalgia! This Golfland is great. Well maintained, the water features were clean and working, the light and motion features were all working. Paint seemed relatively unworn. Challenging holes but well thought out and some unique ones as well. Love the one where your ball needs to jump over the water-- so original! I don't remember what the name of the course was but it's the one that starts way further past the cashier. We went at 10p on a Saturday as a group of four and were pleased to see other groups playing but it wasn't super crowded. We were able to get through both courses in 2 hours (they close at midnight on Saturdays, another cool thing about it). Restrooms were ok; they could've been worse. This place is so fun! I always feel like a kid when I play mini golf. I did the 18 holes for about $16 for adult. I think it's a little over $20 if you do the 36 holes. I think they have a good selection of arcade games along with some vending machines. I really wish I could give this place a better rating because my toddler (age 2) truly had a blast on the course. However, the one-star rating is specifically for a frustrating and costly interaction with a staff member. The low rating goes entirely to the male worker at the counter. Despite me repeatedly stating that my son was only two, he charged me for his admission. I'm not sure if he didn't believe me because my son is tall for his age and quite talkative, but I was charged anyway. This felt like an extreme rip off, especially since a two year old's mental capacity couldn't come close to completing the 18 holes we paid for, forcing us to stop midway. After we finished, I approached a female worker and specifically asked if children under four were required to pay, and she confirmed that they are not. My single star, therefore, goes to her for acknowledging the policy and trying to make it right by giving us a "rainy day" pass to come back and play again. We'll have to wait and see if we decide to return and if the pass is honored, but the initial experience with the male worker left a very poor impression regarding their customer service and charging integrity. read more

Very challenging yet engaging courses, very spacious, paint job on the buildings and obstacles are nice and nice palm trees. The miniature greens are well maintained. But best of all, they have more than one fountain! Every decent miniature golf course NEEDS to have a fountain! If it ain't got no fountain, it ain't miniature golf!! and if you lose a ball in the water hazards (with fancy fountains) or into the streets of Castro Valley, they give you one for free! ( well they should...). Bathrooms could be better maintained but it lets you do what you need to do so not much to complain there. Definitely a family friendly place! Bring the whole family! Celebrated my kid's third birthday here, and it was great! Loved having indoor options for a winter birthday. Good thing, too, because it was pretty cold and started to sprinkle a bit. I came here on a Saturday morning with my husband and had a blast. We bought two golf and 25 point arcade vouchers for $14.99 each. We started with golf and there was a good amount of people outside playing when we started. They have two courses you can choose from and we decided to play the newer one. It took us around 1 hour and had a blast. There was a bench at each station to sit and put your stuff down while you play. Once finished, we headed inside with our 25 point voucher and played around 3-4 arcade games. It was a great cheap way to spend a few hours on a saturday. Golden Tee has never failed to keep my kids entertained. They even point out the castle every time we drive by on the streets. There are two 18-hole courses, and with young kids, we usually opt for the easier one. And it's plenty to keep them busy. From moving doors to big hills, it's a pretty challenging course for them. One time, my 3-year-old threw a tantrum because he didn't want to leave. I've lived in the east bay for years and finally took my kids to check this place out. The rain stopped so it was nice and sunny. There were pools of water on the course but we did ok. Buying the package online for miniature golf gave you a game card but you'll spend it within minutes. There are two big courses to choose from. The course was clean and there's a bench so you can sit while you wait for the party ahead to finish. The pricing of games is decent since I did add more to our game cards. Great place to take the kids to pass time especially on a nice sunny day! It's outdoor so plan accordingly Don't park next to the course!! I recommend parking deeper in the lot so the golf balls don't fly out and hit your car. There's a gate but the only block the bottom of the gate from the golf balls from coming through but there are kids (including my own) that hit the ball above and through the lot. You have an option of picking I think it's 13 or 18 holes. I paid $50 for 3 kids for 13 holes. The kids were able to pick their own color balls which they liked. We went a few days after it had rained so all the holes in each course had nasty water in it so every time it made it in the hole,you would have to grab your ball out of the watery hole. It's also a trip/slip hazard because the grass is all muddy and when you have kids that hit off course it can be dangerous. I took a star away because majority of the games in the arcade wasn't working it all said "attendance assistant required". It happened after I swiped my card so we took frequent trips to the front so they can credit our card since we were unable to play but it took our credits. Which was annoying. And the staff was looking all lost. Thankfully the Asian girl helped her and was nice enough to help and actually did something. We also saw some birthday parties! Excellent place for family and kids or a date. There's free parking in the front that's close to the entrance. You can purchase the ticket online and get the arcade credits for 50 cents more. The 18 hole course on the right is easier and I would start on this side first. Once you're done with that, you can go to the left side for the other 18 hole course but they're more difficult for kids. The courses were clean and organized. Everyone was polite and friendly when I was there. No one tried to jump ahead of you or rushing you to finish. I went on a saturaday with my family and there was around a few minutes wait for each hole which is not bad at all. The arcade area has decent amount of games and relatively new. There are benches around the whole course so you can sit down while you wait or just watch the kids play but no shades in the area. The two courses should take around an hour to finish. Highly recommend for birthday parties! My son and his friends all had a blast and the staff there (especially Kylie) were the best! We chose to do arcade (while we waiting for the pizza shop to open), lunch/cake, and then mini golf. It was a lazy weekday and I wanted to spend some quality time out in the sun with my nephew and nieces. Just a few weeks before their school start and I didn't like seeing them sitting around at home doing nothing so my sister and I kind of forced everyone to get up and get out. Golfland is so conveniently close to our homes only about 5-10 minutes drive. It was very affordable I believe $12 for 18 holes and just $5 more for another 18. There's what looked like 2 different courses, one on either side of the entrance path I was surprised at how busy it was but I figured it's because everyone else is also on summer vacation as well and the kids all with their parents at this time. Not sure how long it took us to finish because it was a little crowded but we passed the time for maybe an hour close to 2 hours for 18 holes. This is a really cute date idea as well but really fun for the kids as well. Golfland also has an arcade in side but we didn't spend time inside. Ok they've been open since 1953 so I (sort of) give a pass for their *~Golden Orient~* themed hole. I mean they could have changed it by now but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Regardless, pretty fun course for a good deal. Better maintained than others, they clearly clean and repaint the field and equipment regularly. I've been here a few times with friends and it's been a pleasant way to catch up over a few games. 32-hole round is worth it (about 1 hour to complete), though I feel the right side (non-castle side) is more creative. For any lost balls, the front desk is happy to replace for no extra charge. If you lose the ball under the water bridge, consider it gone in the void lol NOTE: Their bonus hole game is broken lol. Several times I've seen people (including a friend!) hit the center hole without the alarm going off, so they didn't win anything... read more

GOOD CLEAN FUN!!! During COVID, I'm appreciative of any safe activity lol I'm desperate for a good time!!! I miss playing pool at bars or going bowling, so this is one of life's simple treasures that is actually open right now. It's outdoors, masks are required, and there is lots of space to social distance from other groups. You can make a reservation online for a 30-min window start time. I went on a Friday around 2pm and did not make a reservation in advance, and it was totally fine to do a walk-up. Had I gone at a more popular time, like after work hours or on the weekend, I would have made a reservation in advance - which can be done on their website. It was $10 each for adults. I noticed a sign where it's $12 each for adults on weekends - Sat/Sun. From facing the entrance booth, we turned right and did that course first - it starts with "Adventure Quest" at hole #1. There are two courses of 18 holes. It is $5 for each round of 18 holes, so after the first one, once I realized there was a second course, we went ahead and paid another $10 total for both of us to do the other course! On that first course, hole #17 is a biatch lol it totally messed up my lead!! Bahah beware. I found it so hard to hit the ball hard enough to get up the mound but light enough to not tip over lol. I stayed there and tried to practice getting it right! Make sure to drop by and pay the extra $5 each for any additional rounds you play - as mentioned, we did this before playing the next course. There was another hole on the other side that was similarly tricky as well lol maybe the 2nd or 3rd hole on the other side. Anyway!!! If you want to play mini golf next to a busy road with street cars and a Comfort Inn, make sure you play this other side lol. And there is a castle on that side!! I appreciate the COVID precautions as well. They sanitize the clubs/balls, masks are required, and there are several signs about it! It's honestly not the most amazing or nice mini golf place. I've been to all the ones in San Francisco (SF) and those ones are nicer- but some of those ones are indoors/closed/unavailable right now. Stagecoach Greens is a pretty nice outdoor mini golf course in SF, but I can imagine that one being more crowded and it's also more expensive at $16 each for adults. Golfland in Castro Valley is super casual, humble, and family-friendly. It has that low-cost amusement park vibe - and that's okay! Lol whereas Stagecoach Greens is more lavish - it has a hip vibe and I imagine it's geared towards adults more than kids. Golfland, Castro Valley - Come on through for good clean fun! read more

Cute and spacious! Love to come here for a date night or to bring my 3 year old daughter here, she's obsessed!They have 2 sides that you can choose from to play mini golf. Both are really fun, however I feel the side without the castle might be more of my favorite side- except it's less challenging than the side with the castle. Either way, you can't go wrong. With covid happening, it's nice to be able to do a little activity outdoor while still practice social distance since it has so much space between each plays. It looks like they had a snack bar but closed. They do sell water which costs $2 but can only be bought from the admission booth. Those who didn't pay or go to the admission both would miss it as there were no signage that water is sold at the counter. A soda vending machine on the side of the admission booth. The only thing I wish the place had was water mist equipment around the area. My girlfriend and I love doing some activities like mini golf and this was the only place in the area that offers mini golfing. We went on a Sunday afternoon and this place was very crowded. It cost $18 for one 18-holes of fun. The cost doubles if you want to do both courses. I also lost my ball on the 9th or 10th hole which had the windmill. Luckily, I was able to get another golf ball from the person working at the desk. Friendly and quick service!
