My Callaway Golf Big Bertha irons have stood the test of time. I'm pretty sure I have the 1994 model due to the font and placement of the numbers on the soles of the clubs. The 1996 model has the numbers engraved in the middle of the sole while the 1994 model has them engraved at the toe. However, what confuses me is the coloring of the numbers on the faces of the clubs. Mine are painted red, but I've seen models with the face numbers painted in black and white. I'll be impressed if anyone can definitively shed light on that nuance. I received the clubs brand new in middle school as a gift from my dad. I proceeded to play on the middle school golf team and have been an avid golfer since. The clubs were purchased from Oak Hollow Golf Course in my hometown of High Point, North Carolina. They were a big deal when I got them. At the time, they were one of the hottest, if not *the* hottest, clubs on the market. The irons have served me well for 25+ years, which is crazy when you think about it. I have a 4-iron through pitching wedge. Over the last 25+ years, I've had some close calls permanently losing some of these clubs. Like most golfers, they tended to be my short game irons, but I once left my 4-iron on a par-3 tee box at TPC Sugarloaf and didn't realize it until after the round. I drove back in the dark and found my 4-iron still sitting on the tee box. I left my PW somewhere on the course at Legacy Golf Links in Smyrna and luckily, someone turned it in. Those were my two biggest "lost club" scares and I was very relieved to recover my clubs in both instances. The irons are "fat" and forgiving. They continue to perform well to this day without any work done to the original shafts (graphite, regular flex) or club heads (except for the occasional brush at the driving range or wipe-off with a towel). Of course, I've changed the grips multiple times and have only played Golf Pride Tour Velvets. They're the best. On September 23, 2018, I hit my first-ever (and so far only) hole-in-one on the 10th hole at Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course in Buford, Georgia using my 8-iron. It was a contest hole, captured on video, and I won $2,500. Not bad for what was a 24-year-old club at the time. https://bit.ly/2V3n9T6 The irons, which include a lob wedge (that had to be purchased separately from the 4-to-PW set), have been constants in my bag since middle school. Other constants have been my fairway woods, same vintage: Big Bertha War Bird Fairway Woods 3, 5, and 7. The 7-wood was branded the "Heavenwood" by Callaway and even the headcover says it. I still have and use all the regular headcovers (great quality; more on that below). My mom got a ladies set of Callaway (again, same vintage) and her fairway woods even included a 9-wood, branded as the "Divine Nine." My dad has the Original Big Bertha Fairway Woods as well, the generation that came out before the War Bird models. The fairway woods have been good to me. They've come up clutch in many situations. At a club tournament I competed in in middle school, on a par-3, I hit my first shot into the water. The hole was a forced carry over a pond. I dropped in the rough in front of the pond and hit my 5-wood off the deck. The ball landed on the green and I two-putted for double bogey. I routinely use my 3-wood for my second shot on most par-5s. Unfortunately, the results for my 3-wood have become more inconsistent over the years. I tend to pull it more and more with my bad over-the-top swing, but when I nail it right, the results are great. As far as the headcovers go, the Big Bertha War Bird Fairway Woods have soft, plush, velvety-feeling black or dark blue headcovers. I don't remember the original color because my headcovers have been faded/discolored by the sun over the last 25+ years. They now look like a dark bluish-purple. The quality of the materials is excellent as these headcovers have been in use for 25+ years with countless puttings-on and pullings-off. Compare that to my TaylorMade Burner driver headcover from 2007 which started crumbling and disintegrating less than 10 years in. The Callaway headcovers are still going strong. So yes, I do have a TaylorMade driver, but in the past, I used a Great Big Bertha Driver and The Biggest Big Bertha Driver. Driver technology was the golf club technology that changed the most since the 90s, so that's why I upgraded. However, the Great and Biggest Big Bertha Drivers performed well at the time. As for putters, for the longest time, I used a Big Bertha Blade putter. It matched the rest of the set nicely. It was heavy and long. In hindsight, I much prefer the old-school PING Anser and my current Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball putters (Odyssey is owned by Callaway). I told him it looks like they bought it at a garage sale and threw it in a box with no stuffing, slapped two pieces of cheap tape on the box and sent it. DON'T EXPECT DELIVERY ON ANYTHING FOR MONTHS. I ordered a complete set of women's clubs and a complete men's iron set in April, 2021. First they shipped the wrong set of women's clubs. To their credit they shipped the wrong clubs quickly and they initiated an exchange fairly quickly. However I then had to wait until Mid September to receive the correct set. In the meantime; the men's set of irons has still not shipped as of October 6th. I've been patient and sent occasional emails inquiring about the "VIP" order status. Usually I've gotten a response after some days. It's been a couple days since my latest Inquiry, no response yet. Except the auto generated...we'll get back to you soon... If this is how they treat their VIP customers, I hate to see how the rest of the clientele is treated. #VIP-CS00119959 #VIP-CS00135983 Don't expect timely delivery on anything you order. Worse customer Service EVER!!! I ordered Ogio bags Dec. 10 and paid for overnight shipping. Got a confirmation email right away stating I would receive a tracking number soon. After 5 days of not receiving product or tracking number, I emailed customer service and never got a reply. So I decided to call and got put on hold. Decided to be put in a QUEUE for call back. 24 hours later no call back, so decided to call again (willing to hold for eternity). In 2 minutes I get a live person and explain my situation. He tells me it just shipped and I should get it tomorrow (Dec. 18) since I paid for overnight. To me, 8 days is not overnight. He replied saying once they pull product and prepare to ship then it will be overnight delivery. So I guess they can take 30 days to pull it then "overnight" it? Regardless, he said they are following order requirements. I checked my email and still didn't receive tracking number. Hopefully it has shipped. Regardless, someone answered the call to my surprise but, I would assume people in the QUEUE would have been called back first since we are in line waiting. In the last year I have spent $3,580 on Callaway Clubs online. I was working with a representative Jordan who initially told me to contact him and he would make sure I received free shipping...well about a week ago I ordered an Epic Max 5 wood, but I received what's called a Heavenwood. I called Callaway and the rep said he didn't have the club I ordered (it was preowned) but he had something similar and would ship out today...I was ok with that until I learned that although my replacement club was shipped that day it would not arrive for another 5 days! Considering this was there mistake you would think they would have overnighted my club. How cheap and it's terrible customer service! Additionally, I received an email from Jordan, my so called representative, stating that he would no longer give me free shipping. Well i ordered my Callaway clubs from their website over a month ago. They shipped my driver and wedge but my irons are on back order. All fine and good I understand delays but what chaps my rear end is their failure to let me know they would not ship until the end of the month. I had to reach out t them to find this out 3 days after their expected arrival date. everyone I have spoken with on the phone have been above par but failure to notify a customer of impending delays is weak. read more

Received poor customer service on June 2, 2017 when I called on the phone. I inquired as to why their hitting mat had such a strong chemical smell to it such that it couldn't even be transported in a car without the occupants feeling sick from inhaling the odor. The customer service rep was of no help whatsoever. Didn't show the least bit of concern. Didn't offer any helpful advise. Just said "i dunno." Didn't thank me for my call. Very unprofessional. I ordered the Alpha 816 Big Bertha driver by mistake I called immediately to change the order to the Big Bertha. The person that answered said their phones were down and I could not change my order.
