Staff can be hit or miss. Selection is ok but priced higher than most everywhere else around. It's fine if you have no other choice or want the convenience. Other options not too far away are better. read more

Peter is really helpful, I ask him stupid questions all the time and he's always willing to help. I will say that the prices aren't always the best but if you live close, it's not worth driving somewhere else for an hour to get slightly better prices. If you live in the area and you need something, this is the spot to go. They also have a selection of used reels if you're looking for a less expensive setup, and a few inexpensive rod and reel combos if you need something for your kids. read more

You don't have to be sitting on the dock of the bay or going out in a 50 foot luxury craft to appreciate this angler supply shop. I've never been to a cleaner, nicer, more helpful bait and tackle supply shop in my life. It's a great place for buying gift certificates, odds and ends for random crafting needs and all angling supplies imaginable. read more

I love this shop! It has definitely become my favorite hometown/local tackle shop. Peter, the owner is a great human and a kind soul and helps everybody to the best of his abilities. Everybody in the shop is kind and courteous. They carry pretty much everything all the time. BUYER BEWARE! Tried buying a hoop net and ALL THREE boxes were marked $32.99. Get to register & clerk said the price is $54.99 then took the boxes into the back & removed price tags & said this was done at the owner's request. Last time we were there, a marine asked about military discount to which the clerk said, "Yeah, we offer a discount". But when it was time to pay, he told the marine he could get the discount "next visit", not this one. Seriously? THIS is how they do business? Shady, shady, shady business practices. Edit: When you go into the store, the old guys will ask if you own a boat. If your reply is "No", they snicker at you & literally walk away. This place is horrible and an embarrassment to Oceanside. read more

Store is a mess and the staff is horrible. They asked us to leave because my 17 month did not ave a face mask. I informed them the FDA has stated children under 4 yo did not need to wear a mask. So we all know the adage, "No good deed goes unpunished". My good friend, always trying to be helpful, took our reels and someone else's reels to Anglers Tackle in Vista Ca. before us all going on a 4 day fishing trip. Well look on their website where they claim they know about fishing. If they know about fishing then they know that spectra lasts and you don't throw it away! I've been fishing my whole life. We all know you don't replace Spectra that's pretty much new and you just do a top shot. My friend asked the guy to install mono top shots on all our reels. When we got the reels none of the Spectra was there anymore! They took it all. The guys on the boat that know of this place and told me that they probably sold it to somebody else. This is probably about three grand worth of Spectra on all 30 reels! I live in Colorado so my friend had to bring my reels back to the owner,Pete. They did replace my Spectra. And he blamed the whole thing on my friend who has been fishing for the last 20 years. He knows what he's doing and nobody ever would've said "hey yeah just throw away three grand worth of spectra". Pete said my friend told them to remove all the spectra on all of our reels and replace with all mono. You know he could've called and confirmed like any other normal person would've done. At least he replaced my spectra but he wouldn't pay the shipping to Colorado as my friend has to ship me my reels. So we went fishing and None of us had Spectra or mono top shots. So people, think about that. The guy removed all of our spectra and then put 300 to 400 yards of mono on each reel and charged us for the mono when we should've just had a 25 yard top shot. Then I lose the hundred dollars to ship on top of that. So the whole ordeal cost me $319. To me that is called stealing. Now I know why the people on the boats say what they say about this place. "They're shady". read more

I don't understand the low reviews at all! My first visit today was very nice. My husband and I went just to check it out and ended up buying a few things. He was a quiet man but he was very helpful when we needed it. He even gave us a large live bait fish for free to try it out because we were curious about it! He was a nice guy for sure. Yeah, he's a little stern with the way he talks but that's just the kind of guy he is. We had a good time. I'm sure we will be back. read more

I see this shop on my way to go fish the harbor, and have only stopped a couple times out. The guys behind the counter are usually friendly and willing to show me any of the rods/reels and answer my questions. In comparison to other tackle shops, they seem to be priced a little higher. Maybe because they are next to the harbor? Either way, in a pinch, they have all the tackle you are going to heed for fishing in the harbor, or any 1/2 or day fishing trips. read more

Mr. Eddie over here must of been really upset his child couldn't go inside because his review about the stores cleanliness and customer service is false. I've been coming to this location since it relocated to where it is now and I am surprised more people don't know about it! The employees are friendly and are always willing to share information if asked. The store is completely organized from the moment you walk in! These guys are use to marines coming in and being easy targets to take advantage of. Our visit to this place was the worst tackle shop experience of my life. I'm a saltwater fisherman and own 2 boats, I purchase tackle and gear on a regular basis so much that other tackle shop owners know me on a first name basis. The old white guy behind the counter has no business in customer service, he was obviously bothered and or haveing a bad day. He was rude, condescending and flat out disrespectful. I was embarresed to have brought my family into the store. I have never been so close to throat punching someone in my life.
