Food was ICE COLD!! Bartender was drinking while working! Very small selection and Ozzy the manager is by far and away the rudest person we have ever encountered. Rather eat Taco Bell, then ever go to this place again. read more

Such a beautiful day I decided to look for a great place near the water. I didn't think I could go wrong with a nice fish taco and the website and photos looked great! I got a Mahi mahi taco and shrimp taco and my boyfriend got a mahi mahi bowl. The fish did not taste fresh and the sauce was underwhelming and they don't come with a lime wedge. I did not finish my tacos and neither did my boyfriend. For 25$ it was very small portions and over priced take out. We picked up sandwiches on the way home. read more

Amazing tacos! Good Gluten-free and vegetarian options. Nut-free! The surfy vibe makes it an overall great experience. read more

California Underground - Left to right, Mahi Mahi, Pork, and Chicken tacos. - Bars Near Me - Hull, Massachusetts

I really liked this place. So why the two star review? Very simple, as others have said before me, $6 for a small taco. The Tacos here are good but not that good. On par wth chipotle and they do not have hard tacos. I'm an average eater and would want a minimum of three of there small tacos and they give you nothing with the tacos. My favorite taco places often give free chips and salsa. If the owners decide they don't want to go out of business, my advice would be to charge $2 for a taco and give away chips and salsa and make your money on beer and margaritas. And get a real selection of beer. Carry all the most popular brands not just a couple. The positives are, the setup is great and the staff were nice when I was there. read more

If you're looking for a simple place to eat, then I highly recommend California Underground! The food is very minimalistic but delicious. It's a great place to grab a quick bite when hungry! Very tasty! read more

Went with a group of 9 on 5/27. I thought the food was good; the taco bowl was priced right at $7.00 for chicken and was delicious. The tacos were also good but relatively small for the price. The drinks were good. Service was efficient and and very friendly, but slow. I know we were 9, but it wasn't that crowded and it seems that wince they use all paper, the prep should be fast...not Chipotle fast, I get it, but a bit more timely. No question, I'm going back because the food was good. read more

I've tried this place several times hoping it would make adjustments from the local opinions. The food does not seem fresh other than fresh chopped habeneros. I have had grey steak with no taste, funky shrimp, and flavorless chicken. The sauces are all pretty good and the concept seems ok, it confusing people every time. The tacos are not worth $6! And you you charge for chips and salsa that aren't housemade, I'd say Californians would be disappointed if they stopped in here. The wait staff and bartenders are nice but they just need to change or I don't expect they'll make it. Please California Underground, upgrade your ingredients!! read more

They have the best tacos underground. Their service is amazing except for looking at my man. Other than that keep it up1 read more

California Underground - Another amAZING TACO - Bars Near Me - Hull, Massachusetts

Brian is incredible! Great food, awesome service. Will be back again and again. The taco ingredients are fresh, the drinks are yummy and cold, and this little "underground" place is just the type of uplift this town requires. Excellent. read more

I should've listened to my fellow Yelpers. Hull seldom gets new or hip looking restaurants, so when one pops up I'm definitely going to try it. This place is such a freaking letdown. California underground had a good thing going with practically beach front property, and no other Mexican restaurants/ taquerias in Hull they could've had a real niche. The chips and salsa tasted like Tostito's brand, and the tacos were actually inedible. The steak tasted like it came out of a can, all rubbery with discoloration and no flavor. The taco was filled with "coleslaw" aka tons of cabbage, and the pico de gallo was just a bunch of chopped up tomatoes. Completely flavorless and disgusting. I usually like to try things for myself because I don't like to pass up on something just because it has bad reviews, but this was truly awful. If California underground wants to make it through the summer they better step it up. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. Server was rude and seemed annoyed with anything we asked, said or did. They served us Tostitos chips as their "house chips" and I paid $6 for a taco that had canned meat on it... best of all everything is served in cardboard and plastic plates and cutlery. I was so excited for a Mexican place in hull, this was the BIGGEST disappointment ever. Disgusting. read more

I went again, I did this for you people, so sick of the fake reviews, so this review is going to be huge... this was 4th time, about 6 months after my last visit and the last time ... I hung around the beach and saw the delivery truck pull up and park down Bay Street.. I witnessed many a boxes of items being delivered.. the conclusion.. sorry folks but this is frozen food, processed guacamole and bag chips, not even sure why I went in here except to give it a chance. the benefit of doubt. Now before you all ask me for pics to prove it, I'm just not that into technology and I actually use a flip phone because I prefer to talk over text, I use a desk top computer and once the work day is done, all that stuff is in the past. So take me for my word. read more

Food was okay nothing special looked like it was from a food truck. The waitress was so rude I thought I was on a reality tv show it was that bad. Don't go. read more

The quantity of food for the price isn't bad, you definitely get what you pay for and the variety of options is definitely a plus. But in that same way the quality isn't super great... Definitely had better of most the options here. The bar is a stereotypical bar for the area in price as well. read more

Meh. Cold tacos, super fatty steak, no hot sauce, and raw habanero. I'm a Mexican fanatic. This place sucks. Taco Bell is better. Even the chips and salsa taste canned. read more

So, looking for a quick lunch on a warm February day. Service was decent, but on the slow side, I'll assume they were not expecting a beach day in February so they were staffed accordingly. Taco was OK. They informed us they ran out of taco chips. The people in front of us got the last order. As we waited in line, we were a bit shocked to see another employee come back in the front door with 5 bags of Santitas taco chips purchased at the convenience store that they share the same building with. Then proceeded to serve about 10 of the bagged chips from the bag with Salsa and charge $3.... Make some chips from scratch if you are going to claim to be a Mexican restaurant!!! On the upside, the renovations to the inside were nice! read more

Certainly better than 3 stars. My wife and I both had burritos. Great value and quick service. Tons of customizations available for any entree. I want to come bacK and experiment with the Eos and American tacos. The burrito hit the spot though. The chips and guacamole to share made it the ideal lunch portion. read more

The tacos were pretty good, but I've definitely had better. The service was okay, kind of slow, but the waitress was nice and helpful explaining the sauces and simple, yet complicated menu. The tacos itself were definitely on the pricer side, $6 for one taco that's decent size, I wouldn't say huge, but you're paying the price for the convenience that it's located right across the street from the beach I guess. I'd come back here after I tried everything else around the area, the restaurant is good, but not that good. read more

Very fun atmosphere and a great hangout. Nice staff and quick service but the food was mediocre. I agree with many reviewers that the food was not memorable. Fine to get a quick bite but don't expect much. read more

Meh. The tacos were ok. Not great. I can see if you were there for the bar, and then ordered a couple tacos. But I won't go back for the food. also, the service was slow. And when we asked for crunchy tacos we were told why customers don't like crunchy tacos. read more

I love California Underground!! The tacos are great and made with fresh ingredients and the drinks are delicious. The bartenders and waitstaff are very nice and give helpful recommendations if you don't know what you want. TACO LOVE! Everything was fresh and delicious. Service great. Staff engaging and Funny! We love it going again tonight!

Came here for the first time the other day, tacos were good, nothing to rush back in for. Kind of pricey for the portion size of tacos. Meat/ fish portion could've been bigger- Americano style tacos were overloaded with cheese & lettuce which I like to taste more of the meat. Bartender was very friendly and service was fast. read more

Portions quite small, food nothing special and service was just ok... Was not busy in there, but had to ask for service. Server was busy talking to someone at the bar and really wasn't interested in taking care of our orders. Always like to support local establishments, but won't be returning to this one, tried 2x and was disappointed both times. read more

Had a great dinner here tonight on a beautiful warm evening for October. The wait staff and hostess were both friendly and accommodating. We both had an order of the fish tacos which were great. A great beer selection as well and my guest had a Manhattan which was executed perfectly. Thanks for helping make a memorable evening. read more

The best tacos around, staff is always friendly, great beer selection and it's right on the beach! Have been a big fan since they opened!

Got take out from here..the pulled pork Eos taco with the ranch Sriracha sauce was sooo good. I also got a shrimp eos with a ranch avocado sauce but I wish I had gotten the Sriracha sauce on both tacos. The tacos were delicious and filling but as to be expected with small restaurants the prices were on the high side ..5 and 6 dollars per taco. The ingredients were definitely fresh though. I would go back for more! read more

i am soo angry‍that i had to experience ‼this nasty a$$ foodever in my lifee. they really don't make the food it's allstore bought food.also! i had ordered a sause and it came back lookina full a$$ fuk¡ng fruit cup the guacamole didn't even come with any onions and it looked lime ice cream, chips had no flavor, and the salsa tasted like it was tostitos salsa from a local market.it also took for ever for my nasty a$$ food to even come out for me to mangia mangia!!anyways, i know they are trying their best with covid and i really appreciate it so i'm adding a star for that one! but if i could i would give this place a 0 star but it is what it is.#wap #fruitcup #ramsay read more

An awesome addition to hull. The tacos are a California style and the ingredients are fresh. There are also American tacos to keep it simple. The various sauces are awesome and so are the drinks. Very reasonably priced to. read more

Horrible service but good tacos make sure that you have enough time --we were in there at one hour before getting our food and the restaurant was practically empty very strange, the bartender did not care at all that it took nearly an hour to get two tacos, no apology or any acknowledgement that it was so long. Won't be back. read more

In Hull for a few nights, never been and knew nothing. Chose this place for dinner and definitely glad we did. Cool atmosphere, great service, good food with some cool options and a yummy white sangria. Perfect casual dinner that didn't take too much time away from the beach. read more

Came here to see a certain someone I love play a show. Being locals we tend to avoid the touristy places down by the beach, but it wasn't a great day out so parking was fine and we were able to sit near our loved ones playing excellent latin music on guitar and bongos (hope there is more of this!). Service was friendly, tacos were actually decent. I loved the longboards on the wall and the wooden accents. Like how they keep things simple. We'd come back for a local date night. read more
