Very good Mexican food there and a great bar inside and the deck outside is fun to sit at in the summer as it feels like a treehouse and you can catch the nearby ocean breeze if you're lucky. The margaritas are good but smaller sized. We usually get mexican food and beers there and like to visit at least once a summer. Plenty of parking out back and limited parking in front of the restaurant. Upper level so big flight of stairs to navigate if you're older. Came here with 6 people on a Sunday afternoon and we were able to sit outside. Cute and quirky décor and a fun vibe. We ordered the nachos to split and the street corn. Both were excellent. They had good options for a kids menu, offering a taco with French fries. I ordered the veggie burrito and it was perfect. Our server was polite and attentive. Bueno!! What a fun little spot; the inside feels like you're dining in a treehouse! My friend and I came in for dinner on a Friday night. We started with the Isla Vista nachos and wow!! These nachos are top tier/some of the BEST I've ever had. We ate every last bite and literally licked the plate clean. I have never done that in the history of ordering nachos. I will absolutely come back here just to get these again! For my entree, I ordered the grilled chicken burrito. Even though it was huge and delicious, it tasted like every other burrito I've ever had. Lenny's is "hidden away" above a gym. Walk up the stairs into the Mexican ambiance with nostalgic record jackets on the wall & ceiling as you enter. We enjoyed the breeze and view on the outdoor covered deck. Our server, Emanoela, was friendly, checked in often to see if we needed anything, and the carnitas tacos that she suggested were delicious, as was the Baja fish taco. Everything in the the burrito bowl tasted fresh and the zucchini was a nice change from peppers and onions that usually, overpower the other flavors. Lenny's Margherita and the red Sangria were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that the atmosphere indoors was lively, but not boisterous the Saturday before Cinco De Mayo. Was not very impressed. Ordered the chips/salsa/guac app and with 3 of we got a small basket of chips, no offer for any refill. My order was topped with scallions even though I said no scallions and the carnitas bowl I ordered the meat was very hard and was not very edible. I ate maybe 1/4 of it and threw it away at home. Would not go back. The waitress also said how their freezer broke and they had no choco taco which someone in our party was looking forward to. We got a "we have vanilla ice cream" and that was it. The chips were nice and salty, i think they were homemade because they weren't all evenly cooked. I got two tacos, the shrimp and zucchini. The shrimp was my favorite and had good flavor. The zucchini wasn't as flavorful and over powered by the sauce. Both had lots of sauce which I would get in the side next time. Both the tacos were huge and had double corn shells making them more like 4 tacos. My moms chicken quesadilla was good too. We both had enough to take home. Very comfortable, varied venue- large busy bar area, separate quieter booths, or a large inviting covered porch area. Service was prompt and courteous but we were early and it was not busy. Margaritas and food are very good but priced a bit on the expensive side. That said the food portions are generous. We split the Brazilian style empanadas which were crispy, hot and delicious. At three empanadas a serving it was more than enough appetizer for two. The carnitas enchiladas were very good- stuffed with tender roasted pork they were covered with chili sauce, and served with Spanish rice, black beans and salad. The chicken bowl was as expected with shredded thigh meat, cheese, rice and beans. The chicken was flavorful, although we not impressed and will probably not order it again. Overall though, this is a solid choice for good Mexican food and great addition to the area. read more

Hosted a 40th Birthday for my wife at Lenny's with 20 guests on their patio. It was such a great experience all the guests loved it. Gustavo the manager was extremely accommodating and a pleasure to work with. They had lots of options on how to use the space for an event. It's an OK location and venue is nice enough. The selection of microbrews is pretty good. The people are nice. I've had the quesadilla and nachos; the taste brings you back to ......Taco Bell. No complaint about the quality of ingredients. If Mexican is a core to the food service, the owner and chef need to spend some time at a good Mexican restaraunts. Examples: Ciello or El Sarape in Braintree, Cancun in Kingston. It's remarkably bland. The rest of the menu may very well be good, and bring people back regularly. This had to be one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We were initially lured by a Phantom Gourmet piece that gave this place high marks. This place was not only dirty, the food was at best, poor bar food that lacked any sense of freshness. The chips were accompanied by tasteless salsa, dry guacamole, and a hot mystery sauce that tasted like glue. The magarita was so bland that it tasted as though it came out of an old, pre-mixed bottle. When it was substituted for a Modelo beer, the beer arrived flat. The enchiladas we ordered were decently presented as were the fajitas but again, lacked any meaningful taste. So happy to have them reopen and support a great local small business owned by a beautiful family in our community. What a find. Not much in the way of good Mex style on the South Shore. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff friendly and attentive. In my book fresh lime juice for margaritas is a do or die situation... their margarita is out of the park. Furthermore, the owner's very own California gimlet could easily be the best cocktail I've ever had; I could drink 10 of them (bad idea). Very creative menu as well. We shared several delicious entrées and appetizers.. That being said there were some disappointments. The grapefruit Margarita was blah; sent it back in trade for a regular one. The ribs were disappointing; cooked tender but we were hoping for bronzed and a little crispy. The tortilla chips are Interesting and worth a mention. They are a homemade, hearty stoneground multi grain mixture with a significant firmness. I loved them but not everyone agreed. The same mixture made into a taco was a different story. Eating two layers of the stuff was akin to chewing a rock. Would recommend a lighter and somewhat more traditional mixture for the tacos. All in all really enjoyed it, and I am eager to go back and try some of the other interesting selections on the menu. Kudos Derek! read more
