It's been a rough move and I've moved A LOT since my college days, even internationally. Either I have an actual move karma now and I did something wrong or it's just a sign that I need to stick to one place for a while. It all started with my water heater fiasco in Long Beach. Then I found out moving by myself with professional movers only involved in the placement of the heavy things from the old to new place is a really bad idea. Really bad. Packing and purging on your own in the span of 5 days is very difficult and stressful. Don't do it. So it didn't help when my little IKEA cabinet with frosted glass doors turned up shattered on one side by accident on its journey to Torrance. I was worn out by the growing list of annoying things to do and put a bad review in, but Shiree was great. She called up right away, got the doors replaced, delivered the fixed piece at my convenience and paid me for some damage to my old condo door frame while keeping up steady and reliable communication. It's a shame that people aren't removing reviews that pertain to a similarly named business so Mark and Shiree's team can't get their just due and keeps the overall stars on this solid company low. Perhaps you'll just take my word for it, that accidents happen but the difference is a business that puts the customer first like California Relo did. read more

Wow. Worst waste of effing money ever. It's been 28 business days and my stuff still isn't here. Upon arrival, they charged me extra load the truck with my already packed stuff. They said it'll most likely be another few thousand to deliver but leaving it up to the office. I wand faulted any of this. I knew it would be a little extra, as it is with all moving companies, but a couple thousand?! Wow. Wow. So, I text and email asking for updates. Customer service has no idea what good customer service is. Talk about a jerk. Is her name Dawn? She sucks. She's rude. And dodges me whenever possible until I harass her for information. Just give it to me straight and stop lying and stop being an a-hole!!! Dawn, learn how to do customer service well or get a new line of work cus this ain't for you hunny. Where the hell is my stuff?! I recently moved from Los Angeles, CA to Oklahoma City, OK and the care I got from California Relocation Services was exceptional! The communication was great, and my belongings were packed with such great care. Oscar C. and his teammate arrived 15 minutes early and were very friendly and addressed all of my concerns about the big move. I was moving out of a 2br/2ba apartment and they were finished packing in about 3.5 hours. They were extra careful at handling anything expensive or delicate which was so appreciated. I told Oscar about some of the issues I've encountered with movers in the past and he went out of his way to make sure I didn't experience that again. Example: when I first moved to LA, my mattress was packed and shipped only in a plastic bag. It arrived with the plastic completely torn and my mattress came wet and stained with disgusting black stuff all over it. It was a Purple mattress, which isn't cheap, and I ended up having to toss it and buy a new one. Oscar quite literally handmade a box out of cardboard that fit my mattress perfectly, while also wrapping it in plastic. He and his teammate went out of their way to pack other items of mine this way too. They packed my things on 7/21 and 1400 miles later it arrived in OKC on 7/30. I had a local moving service help me unpack my items and they even mentioned they had never seen packing done so well as this before! read more

Their crew arrived on time, packed all my furniture and fragile items and carefully loaded everything to their truck. They were very polite, efficient, fast and professional. My delivery was as schedule, nothing was broken or damaged, and the price I paid at the end was very reasonable. An amazing experience. DO NOT CONTRACT THIS SCAM OF A BUSINESS. My parents recently relocated cross-country and had their larger furniture items in storage for a few months. When it came time to request delivery to their new house it took forever for them to come- no eta of delivery. When it arrived, 80% was missing and they were demanding full payment before unload. That's ludicrous -- paying in full without having everything accounted for?! So guess what, refused to pay and they turned around back cross country with their stuff!! Then came time to report back to reschedule delivery, this time hopefully with everything. Once they claimed to have "located" everything, and driver was en route, he had a "family emergency" and had to turn around?!? Again. They rescheduled again! And then finally they arrive at the most INCONVENIENT time, while my parents have guests for 1 NIGHT at 6PM! With ONE GUY to unload!!! They didn't finish until 11:30PM! And to top it all off- MANY IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE ITEMS MISSING AND DAMAGED. They just threw everything in the truck without thought or care, resulting in a shattered new big screen TV, cracked mirror, torn and dirty mattress and a lot of damaged furniture. The driver said "this isn't the first time and it won't be the last" How anyone works for this company or it's in business at all is beyond me. They deserve to be SHUT DOWN and sued for the damages incurred. Who knows what's going on with the missing items -- I'm talking full rooms worth of furniture -- if they try to get away with pawning off or something.... read more

This company gets friends and family to give them good reviews. We paid company before they came. They packed up all our stuff then said it took them longer than expected so we owed them $1500 more dollars. Company said they would take all our stuff off the truck and woukd keep all the original payment then the extra for take everything off the truck or they would just take our stuff as there's. Fast forward our delivery date and they only dropped off a couple items a month after it was due to come. We fought with the company for months to get the rest of our stuff and some of it went missing never to be returned again. Save yourself the hassle and headache and never use this scheming company!! read more

DON"T USE THIS COMPANY: Worst customer service on the planet. Damaged all my expensive items, lost boxes 6 months ago and refuse to pay me properly. They under weighted my heavy items and offered a measly $108.00 for breaking the legs off my antique dresser, cracked legs on my overstuffed chair and then they left this chair off of the damage list, dented pictures, lost 3 boxes and a utility step stool, tore my computer desk apart to make is smaller, broke off handles then couldn't put it back together and told me their was not sufficient evidence and denied it on the claim form. They straight up lied about not needing additional insurance when I booked the reservation, had told me I did not need to buy insurance and that's what separated them from their competition. After they picked up my items the price was doubled despite me having fewer items than when I did the count. My items took up 1/4 of the truck when it arrived, they charged me double saying I needed 980 cubic feet, the drive told me the truck fits 1800 cubic feet so it should have been half full when it arrived....it was only 1/4...they lie to get more money at the last minute after they have your stuff and show no proof of their claims. The salesman that estimated my items at 700 cubic feet refused to answer my calls after prick up and the company refused to have him explain his lies. They simply lie and refuse to answer the phone or reply to emails. The very few email replies i did get were all rude and aggressive, they try to site DOT rules that allow them to depreciate the value of your damaged items...which is not true. They did answer the phone today then hung up on me after saying "do you really think I want to hear this". Their letterhead claims are false...no service exists after they have been paid. They must have paid Yelp to remove my review with pictures to prove my statement. So here they are again. read more

I appreciated the care that your team demonstrated during a very emotional move. My dear brother immigrated to Mexico 30 years ago and recently passed away. I found an amazing moving company in Mexico (Balderas) who offered their services at a reasonable price. Balderas did an outstanding job carefully packing his belongings, some of which were fragile art pieces. As it turns out Balderas partnered with 2 U.S. companies: Rainier, and the final leg of the delivery was handled by California Relocation. The crew listened to my concerns about carefully unpacking fragile art and the emotional connection I had with these pieces. They also had a simple check-off system that allowed me to be sure that all my pieces arrived. Afterwards they removed all packing materials, including wooden crates. So as I stated in my last review before the move was done I would finish my review. Here are the good spots. Dion sales rep was nice. Packers did a awesome job packing. OK that's it on the good stuff. Now the Bait and switch that was performed and the remainder of the poor service. I gave them a pretty accurate listing of what I was moving. We may have had 10 extra boxes. but furniture was right on except we added two chairs (dining room) and removed a couple items. I say this because all the customer reviews were meet with reasons by the company of adding charges is because they had more. The moving team told me how sorry they were but that is how their system judges space needed. Well they baited us with a lower price and once loaded hit with almost double the price. This will happen to you if you use them. Then the day before call was from Jim the rudest person I have ever heard from a customer service person. Then they shipped my stuff early which Jim said I don't understand their system. Then no 24 hour call before delivery but instead a email saying they can't get a hold of me and if I don't call the driver it will be listed as no-deliverable. So they gave the driver my wrong # so never got a call from him and the # they gave me for him was disconnected. Finally I did reach the driver and he was very kind and we meet and I got my stuff. The main issue with this company is the bait and switch. I will continue to report to as many social media sites as possible to insure others don't get in this situation unless they make it right. I am 55 years old and this is my first review because I normally never waste my time doing it but this one I plan to continue to try to save people from a obvious bait and switch. I looked at others who said this was happening but got fooled I even flew to Calif to make sure they treated my Mother in law good and they still got us. Once they have your stuff you can't do much. There is no rating low enough or words harsh enough that can express the recent move from hell! My son-in-law is in the Army (stationed in Hawaii) and California Relocation Services was used to move their belongings...finally after being at his station since the beginning of August. I was so very impressed by the entire process! The Army arranged for them to arrive at our house today between 8am and 9am. Jesus and Aldo got here just after 8:30ish. We chatted briefly since I wasn't sure what to expect...Jesus explained everything in detail and assured me everything would be packed carefully and moved with care. That is exactly what happened. They immediately started moving the big stuff and packing the small stuff along the way. I was quite intrigued by their system. It is 1:40pm and they have already cleared the stuff out of the house and should be loading everything on the truck shortly. Jesus and Aldo were very respectful and showed the utmost professionalism. In the event I will need to relocate, California Relocation Services will be the mover we call. And...I would request that Jesus and Aldo be the movers! Fantastic job guys!! These people rocked! Tim, Vanessa and Stephanie were pleasant and professional on the phone. I needed to call the day before the delivery date for my 2 hour window for delivery because they must have gotten too busy to call me with the delivery time, so stay on top of it the day before delivery. You can count on them being 15 minutes early for the scheduled delivery time. The delivery guys, Aldo and Jose, are very professional, efficient, safe, accommodating and sincerely respectful of peoples belongings. In our crazy times, these guys were a joy. Company was hired via Sonigo in Israel. They came to my storage unit to load and pack some oversized items. Half way through I was told there is not much room left. They unpacked boxes that were packed by a professional moving company that moved my stuff into storage. Some of the small boxes they placed in another big box and loaded the gap with paper. Then told me I needed a 40 foot container not a 20 foot. Also mentioned that my quote was for 5,000 pounds and I'm over 8,000 pounds. Much of my items got left behind. The last 2 hours of moving got waisted by arguing with them and speaking to their office. Yet there was no resolution. Very disappointed. read more

I am posting this review late from when we moved last year 2018. This company was hired for our move through the military and it was the worse experience. The day our home was packed up the movers were in such a hurry to get the job done that they wanted to squeeze a 3 day job into 1 day. So many people were onsite packing stuff that it made it hard to make sure our belongings were packed correctly. We had a hard time communicating with the workers as most of them didn't speak English which was inconvenient at times because we would have to go outside to talk to Oscar to translate. After we were all packed up, our house was a mess from stuff the movers left behind (trash). Needless to say that was the least of our problems. When we finally moved and got our stuff and unpacked we had damaged and missing stuff (such as one of our beds missing). It's really unfortunate that a company would have no regard for a family's personal belongings and that to us is very unprofessional and untrustworthy. I hope this company is not used in the future for other military moves and if it is please be on top of them and their work. God knows we were and still had a bad experience. read more

It's really a bummer to write this review because up until the end, Cali Relocations Services actually did a pretty good job. Unfortunately the folks that moved things OUT of my house did not complete a packing list or email it to me afterwards, as promised. The folks that moved things IN my new house across the country tried to move other people's things in several times, which I corrected them on, but ultimately left without delivering my most valuable box (easily over $1000 in tools inside). So far, I have had no luck recovering my things but will update this review if I hear from anyone from Cali Relocation Services. This company offers great prices for a cross country move, but you must be prepared to be diligent in your note-taking, take a lot of pictures, and be prepared to be aggressive IMMEDIATELY in the case that something seems unusual. I do not recommend trusting them with anything that is of serious value to you or your family. read more

I had reserved for them to come move my house from California to Arizona. I was expecting a slight change in the cost but when they arrived they over doubled my quote. On top of that the original time they were suppose to arrive was 11am - 3pm. Then it got pushed from 4-6. After 6 when I still hadn't heard anything I finally called and they said it now wouldn't be until 8 pm! Then when they over doubled the cost I told them I couldn't afford the new cost and would have to use someone else. Now they refuse to refund my deposit. I knew the cost could change but not by $2,500! They get your deposit and then once they are at your house they up the cost and hope you'll just pay it. Lesson learned! Dawn was so rude! She hung up on me multiple times and had an attitude from the beginning. Yep! They stopped answering my phone calls once I told them to stop and not kid my belongings after over doubling the cost. I called from my husbands phone and they answered right away. I forgot to mention a gun safe and they undersized some of my stuff like my bed a tool box and a doll house so they over doubled my quote but yet when I questioned about adding a couch, queen mattress box spring headboard footboard, armoire and some paintings it only went up $400. We hired California Relocation Movers as part of our move to Colombia with Ranier Overseas Movers. California Relocation was in charge of packing my apartment, storing it at their warehouse and packing my container. While, I can't say too many positive things about Ranier, Joe at California Relocation Movers was the most professional mover I have ever employed. We had a super complicated move in that our apartment had to be combined with our office move and there were doubts as to whether it would fit into one shipping container. Joe went above and beyond and lent his warehouse for us to spend a week sorting through items and getting rid of things to streamline our move. It was a highly unpleasant process and Joe's patience and smile made it bearable. Our shipment traveled from Los Angeles, California to Medellin, Colombia and the only thing that broke was 1 champagne glass thanks to Joe and his team's careful packing. While we had quite a few things stolen and damaged as a result of the US Customs ransack that we experienced at the port of Long Beach (we blame Ranier), I'm super thankful to Joe for crating most of our valuable belongings and making sure that they were not damaged. Overseas move; Great, friendly, relaxed guys. I am little surprised how they pack; very tight. They put a Stereo on a chair, lots of other stuff on another chair etc. They tell me we've been doing this for 20 years, don't worry, everything will be fine! I tipp them generously. Unipack, the moving agent, calls, and tells me the load is to heavy, I have to pay more. I already pay more than $7000 for a 2 bedroom move. (no couch, no bed. Just some furniture, books etc.) Nobody told me not only size matters here, but weight as well! Next thing, the furniture arrive, and all these chairs, that they had packed so "smartly" were broken, beyond repair..and other damages as well.. read more

Better late than never.. this post is very late by almost a year. Our moving agent, Rainier Overseas, connected us with Cal Relo for our move from California (Ventura County) to Hawaii. I met with Brandon who estimated our move and gave me a run down of the 2 day process... 1st day packing, 2nd day loading the cargo container. He answered my questions and put me at ease so we scheduled the big move with them. (I definitely saw my fair share of shady characters & companies in the process of doing my due diligence researching movers and getting estimates for our long distance move.) Their guys arrived early, put down cardboard and paper on the hardwood floors & plastic on the carpet. They brought tons of supplies - flat wardrobe boxes, dish packs, packing paper, etc. They were FAST, friendly, and efficient. They were moving so fast I felt like I was in their way, so my sis & I watched TV while they did all the hard work. They even suggested that they pack my tv the following morning so that I wouldnt be lonely in a packed up house. I have tons of kitchenware and dishware, not a single piece arrived in Hawaii broken or chipped. Every item that was loaded onto the cargo container was wrapped in protective paper. I dont think I could have done a more thorough job than they did. As I unpack boxes in Hawaii, I am positively giddy when I see all their detailed packing that shows that they take care & pride in what they do. Just the amount of packing paper and heavy duty boxes they used was worth the cost (if you've ever bought a heavy duty moving box from HD, you know what I mean $$). Oh and they label each box and number each box with a coordinating inventory list, so we were able to make sure we received everything. Top notch owner (he came the day of cargo container loading to lend a hand) and fantastic employees. My husband is extremely grateful too for making the move so pleasant since he had to be on the island before me and couldnt be there for moving day. read more

Worst company ever! I was quoted 6300 and when they came to load up my house it was 12000! The crew that loaded the truck dropped things, ran into walls, smoked in the truck with my furniture and broke a light switch (which was fixed only because I threw a fit). My move was from California to N.C. when my furniture arrived in N.C. the crew (2 guys) refused to put beds back together. Many things were damaged and a bed is still missing! It's been 7 weeks and no word on the missing bed, and they refuse to give me a receipt. I have contacted dawn over and over and her response is they are waiting on paperwork from the final destination. They are still looking in the warehouse for the missing bed...I guess it's going to miraculously appear. I have put a call into the DOT to see what kind of complaint and investigation they can do with this company. Anyone who has written good reviews has to be someone working for the company, because the bad reviews are very similar to my situation read more

Our experience with California Relocation Services was not a good one at all. The packers had no idea what they were doing an appeared to have absolutely no training. Cords were packed in separate boxes than the stuff they went to, nothing was labeled right, etc. It was a nightmare to unpack. The movers also completely forgot the seals for our crates which we were told not to let our stuff go without. When I called one of the owners she said she was at a baseball came and seemed like she didn't want to be bothered. She told me she didn't have her fathers phone number (who is the other owner of the business) and even hung up on me at one point. I finally got a hold of her father who said I was being "pregnant and emotional." I couldn't believe the awful service and lack of caring from this company. We were very lucky to get awesome movers though once we got to Germany. They commented over and over on how bad everything was done. I would recommend looking elsewhere when picking a moving company. read more
