Roy kept me in the loop every single day as to the progress of my car, and even when parts fell into delay I knew as it was happening so there was no stress at all. I needed repairs done after a minor fender-bender accident and Shelby location took my appointment, they also set up an enterprise appointment and pick-up for me. The repairs and rental vehicle were covered but the other driver's insurance company so the process was really simple by giving the claim number. Service at the front counter was very friendly, and repairs were quick (2 weeks) despite freezing temperatures for 2-3 days and the wrong headlight being sent and had to be re-ordered. I got my vehicle back like brand new, new bumper and headlight, vehicle vacuumed on the inside and washed on the outside. If I ever need repairs again I will go to Shelby location, let's hope that's not anytime soon though! Thanks Caliber! read more

It started out bad and only got worse. First, they told me they would have a quote within 30 minutes. Over an hour later, they told me they would have it within the hour. Finally, I called them near the end of the day, and only then did they get the quote to me. A week later, I responded to the email quote requesting a schedule for service. After over a day, nobody responded. So I called them on a Thursday afternoon, and had them order my windshield. It came in the next day, but they didn't inform me until the following Monday. So I bring my car in on Tuesday, and later that morning, they tell me they didn't order the right parts, and that their windshield guy wouldn't be available until the next day. The next day comes around, and I call them late in the afternoon. Good news! My car is done! They still have to do some paper, but assure me they would have my car ready for me to pick up by the end of the day. It's the end of the day now, and I STILL don't have my car. Of course, they don't have an after hours answering service, so I can't even leave them a message to tell them how I feel. That's probably for the best. I will NEVER bring my car to this shop again, and I will NEVER recommend that anyone else bring their car here. read more

I was driving a friends car when one of the tires when flat. I pulled into the vacant lot across the street from Caliber Collision on Shelby to change the tire. It turned out that the wrench in the car did not fit the lug nuts on the wheel. Soon after realizing this, a gentleman from the Caliber shop came over and asked if I needed a hand. I explained the situation and he went back to his shop and came back with a driver and a bit that fit. Problem solved. What could have been an extremely frustrating and drawn-out process was just a minor inconvenience because of this act of kindness. I received excellent friendly service and I wasn't even a customer! Very disappointment at the service I received from them, I took my truck for a bumper replacement they did the repair, but right now they don't want to fix my pre collision front sensor and my Brake system sensor, those are some safety features that my truck came with and they used to work before I took my truck with them, they are refusing to take my truck to Toyota dealership and find out the issue with my car, so they are comfortable letting me drive around from home to work daily with the safety features not working with the potential of having an accident due to the not working sensors, I'm not talking about just me driving my car, a ride with my kids and husband. They are asking me for a picture from another car like mine so I can prove to them that I'm not lying about these sensors, so now they are fixing cars based off of a picture from other cars? when they can easily check the manual for the car, this is vey ridiculous this is not a professional company who would let someone drive off with these issues but since they got paid everything is now MY PROBLEM this is a outrage!!!! We are talking about SAFETY FEATURES here, if something happens to me or my family they will be the only people responsible. It's been a while back since I took my truck here but remembering to leave a review now. I had a large rock thrown by some kids on the side of the road only to hit my roof and windshield of my truck. It looked terrible and we never found the little s*its. Took it here and when I went to pick it up I was amazed of the job these fellas did! It really looked like nothing happened to it. They took long hours to bang out the dent and fix it, replaced the windshield and put the tint I had at the top of the windshield back to the way it was. This is the second review I've had to write of this sort in 2 days, and I'm beginning to sense a trend as well as smell a rat. I'm going to keep this short and simple as possible, but there are a lot of details relevant to my review, and I want to be as accurate as possible since I am giving a one star review. I even tried to come up with a reason to raise it to two stars, because I don't like to do this, but I just can't find one. I live in an isolated neighborhood in the middle of a cul-de-sac. Earlier this week, while I was sleeping, some idiot managed to hit the rear of my car, and ran off without leaving a note. They completely smashed the bumper and pushed my front driver side wheel into the curb. My insurance company refuses to come look at the car because coronavirus. The only estimate they will accept is a photo estimate using their self-reporting app. Obviously this does not (and cannot) show any potential damage to the front axle and/or the driver side wheel from being shoved into the curb. So the estimate they sent me was a complete lowball, and may not cover the damages. I don't know yet, because I haven't been able to get anyone to examine the axle or the wheel, which is why I am now writing this review. Unless the jerk who hit me decides to turn himself in or come forward, I have a few equally crappy choices available to me. I can take the lowball offer from the insurance company and fix whatever damages I want to fix on my own. I could take it to the shop and pay the rather large deductible and have the body shop and insurance company haggle it out. Or I can take my insurance company to court in the hopes that I might get a more reasonable settlement. This is where caliber collision comes into the picture. In order to make the best decision about which path I am going to take, I need to have a realistic estimate to guide my next steps. I took it to a different shop first, and they refused to look at it unless I agree to repairs in advance, which obviously doesn't work for me. Since I've heard good things about caliber collision, I called them up to see if they would inspect the car, specifically the front axle and driver side wheel. Being no fool, I recorded the conversation, and I made very clear what I wanted them to do (inspect the front axle/wheel), and why (I need a second opinion to make a rational choice). The fellow I spoke to on the phone told me that this was no problem, they didn't have a mechanic in house but they could do an estimate for me and allow me to pay out of pocket for the estimate. So I made an appointment to bring the car in today. I sent my buddy to Caliber with the car. Soon I get a phone call from a number I don't recognize. I pick up the phone and a lady asks if I am Chris, I say yes, and she proceeds to tell me that they will not do an estimate unless I agree to repairs in advance. I tell her who I spoke with yesterday, that I explained the entire situation and he said it would be fine, and ask what changed between yesterday and today. She said that yesterday, I spoke to an employee and today I'm talking to the manager, and that she had just spoken with the general manager. She said she had updated her employee on "the policies" and corrected his mistake, but that they absolutely would not inspect my car in any way at all unless I came in and signed papers agreeing to repairs before even knowing what the repairs would entail. I asked if she could understand my reticence to do that, and she said no, she didn't understand because lots of people come in to the shop and agree to carte-blanche repairs. She acted as though I were crazy for wanting to know what's wrong with my vehicle. and was rather combative overall. There's more to the story, but this review has been long enough. This is the first negative review I've ever written about any business, but I'm compelled to report my experience at Caliber Collision on Shelby Lane in South Austin. I took my car there after a very minor incident: a gentleman bumped me from behind at a stop light, enough to scratch the paint and damage the plastics. We agreed that he would pay the cost of reasonable repairs and I would not file an insurance claim. In my first meeting with Caliber, I informed them of our agreement. I authorized Caliber to remove the bumper assembly to make a determination that there was no internal damage. When their estimate came back at $2,500, I told them that I wanted to take the car elsewhere for a second opinion. The estimate seemed high. I was then informed that I would have to pay $315 for them to put the bumper back on. Frankly, it felt like ransom, but I was so convinced that the estimate was ridiculous that I informed the gentleman who hit me and paid the ransom. I took the car to a reputable, Austin-based, paint and body shop. The cost to repair it: $600, one-fourth the Caliber estimate. The car looks brand new. The gentleman paid for the repair just like he said he would and we're both happy. Let me conclude with what is probably already obvious: I will never, ever return to Caliber Collision for any work on any car I ever own. read more

The manager and gal at the front desk were so kind and gave us so many suggestions to go for lunch. Hector was who serviced my car and was AMAZING. Well my Truck was hit by a slew of items from a eighteen wheelers cargo that let loose on HWY 183. I nearly lost control and ended up on the shoulder of the highway. Needles to say I call my insurance and find out caliber Shelby is the closest to my residence. I schedule a appointment for the next morning with Hector. Who would of thought that one call would have my vehicle up and ready by Tuesday. The body man Paco and the Painter Memo ( I believe that's what they said his name was ) did a amazing job and with the leadership led by Hector my truck turned out amazing. My can had rear bumper damage from a collision at a light. It was a lease car and they recommended Caliber at this location on Shelby Ln. I was very impressed with Brandy the manager who helped walked me through the process. Hector was an exceptional communicator, lead the repair process and kept me informed with multiple texts as to the status of my repairs. They completed it in a very timely fashion. In on Monday. Done by Wednesday afternoon. Car was delivered good as new. I hope I never have to see them again, but if I do have another need. I would go back there in a heart beat. read more

I'm really disappointed with them. It started out great. Larry was friendly and explained things. He said they might have to transfer the car because they were very busy, but they would tell me if that happened, and bring the car back to that location after it was fixed. Instead, it was transferred, no one told me when or where, and after it was declared totaled they told the insurance people it was at the original drop off location, apparently too busy to look into it at all. So I drove to this location, then had to drive across Austin in Friday rush hour traffic to south Lamar to clean out my car. To top it off, the front desk lady at this location just stared at me, didn't apologize or explain. No one ever told me what was wrong with the car, I was shocked there was $7000 damage from a low speed accident. Very very poor communication. read more

This was the best car repair experience I've ever had in Austin. The woman at the front desk was super helpful and organized (apologies for not remembering her name). Hector was in charge of the work on my car! He communicated early and often throughout the repair and was a genuine, nice, and personable guy! They worked with my insurance (usaa) and enterprise. All the communication between these companies was flawless. My car was taken in on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020; they estimated it being done by Jan 13th. They had it done on Dec 31, 2020 because the parts were delivered early!! Just in time for the new year! All cosmetic work. Super impressed! I was involved in a hit and run accident and my insurance recommended this location. They were very professional from the accident all the way until I drove off in my fully repaired car. I personally work with Larry and had a great experience working with him. It felt as is if every 3-4 days Larry gave me a call with an update on how the repairs were coming along. If i was unable to answer, he left a very detailed voicemail to keep me in the loop. Very professional and helpful! My insurance company and caliber collision worked together to get the payment information situated so that was another positive i didn't have to worry about. There were over $8,000 in damages and Caliber completed the repairs before the original target date. Just a great feeling under the circumstances. Larry also asked how my wife and daughter were feeling after the accident each time he called which made us all feel like he truly cared for us. Caliber Collision made a bad situation so much better! I was rear-ended and they really helped in the process from estimates, to insurance to the rental car! Brandi at the front desk went above and beyond to help me get the right insurance information processed. Hector was friendly, professional and detailed in his explanation of the damage. I received daily text updates, phone updates and my car was done and fixed two days earlier than expected. They coordinated with Enterprise for me so that they were there to pick me up when I dropped off my car and when I returned the rental car I took it right to Caliber and they handled it from there. Now I can't vouch for their quality of work. This is only on my estimate experience. I was in the area and stopped in to get an estimate on a very minor door scrap from getting too close to a t-post. So little if any body damage and painting one door and touching up another. They added so much unnecessary work to inflate the estimate it is dumbfounding. For instance the damage was only to the rear door with a half inch scratch to the front door. They wanted to take off the rear bumper and tail lights, do an hour of paint work to the rear quarter panel and replace a rock guard, do 8 hours of body work to the damaged door, then do 3 hours labor to the front fender. For a total of almost 18 hours of body labor and almost 8 hours of paint labor along with 175 dollars worth of miscellaneous. All this added up to a grand total of 1850 dollars to paint a door. It is companies like this are the reason insurance is so high. If they sent my quote to an insurance company I would say they were bordering on fraud. Instead they will just never get me as a customer. Just for a comparison I went to another reputable body shop that happens to use the same estimating software and their estimate was 5.2 hours body labor and 4.6 hours of paint labor for a grand total of 700 bucks. read more
